The Rock Surprises A US Veteran!

[Music] all right guys there's a very special woman out there name is Marlene and we are gonna surprise her with something very very special and something very meaningful from for myself and from Ford the go further award that Ford is going to be giving to her but what she does not know is that I'm gonna present her with the award I know that she's a very big fan but way more important than just being my fan she's also a combat veteran three tours and has overcome a tremendous amount of challenges you know this is just a small small way of us showing our gratitude and saying thank you to Marlene and I have just another surprise or two it's gonna be amazing Marlene can't wait to surprise her check it out watch when I joined them in the army I was 23 years I was something I wanted to do since I was a young young young little girl I love this one the first time had a direct hit within IAD it was tough but it's once you come back you get trained up again and you just go back out there and you got to do what you got to do one of the reasons why it makes it so special it was actually my third deployment that I got hit the second time I wanted to stay in but it I don't think it was gonna happen because you know I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury to receive the Purple Heart for me I don't like losing us losing somebody and earning a reward it it didn't mesh well with me I mean it's an honor to have it but to receive it you know I definitely just have more guilt than anything else because I was given it because of the loss of somebody else so the military where support Foundation provides a mortgage-free homes for veterans and their families go down and surprise Marlene come on and they offer financial assistance we're having a financial mentor because the last times you get out of the military unfortunately your funds from being a soldier it just gets cut off and they're they're a really great organization and so far they've given away 700 homes to 700 families ok I just I heard that I wasn't the only one with a badass tattoo I heard there was someone else here who had just crazy bastard I am and you're Marlene I've been listening to your story backstage and it's just been such an amazing story and I wanted to congratulate you on your award the go further Award for you and your foundation and you doing such amazing things with the homes and have so much just really profound love and respect for you and all the boys and girls out there served I have one more surprise let me ask a question do you like do you like the beach baby let me just get to it so you and a special guest are gonna be my special guests for the big world premiere that we're gonna have for Baywatch here in Los Angeles what and I got the tickets for you what what a great day all right come on let's get this microphone off or guys let's shut these lights down and Oh actually there's one more thing what yeah here come here for a second so I heard you're da juiceman oh yeah for sure like big-time Dajjal yeah oh okay well maybe you can go to a Dodgers game in your brand-new 2018 Mustang that's you are you kidding me no really why why because of everything you've done and everything that not the boys and girls who you served with have done that's why you deserve more no no actually don't my soldier does me he gave his life you know yeah I think you'd want to see you rolling in that [Music] wow yeah thank you guys so much [Music] [Applause] no all right so Marlene so this is the very first time this Mustang has been seen in public it won't even be available until later this year it's just a sneak peek for all my fans it's totally customizable from the ground up it's the best Ford Mustang model that they've ever built and for you the inflatable rock doll and the passenger seat come on let's go see very high tech this car looks sweet close up to [Music] I did wake up real huh really I thank you so much I really don't deserve all this no wow okay well I hope you guys enjoyed that as much as we did it was one of the great I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life and what an honor it was to stand in front of this woman what an honor it was to hug her neck nice and tight and just and tell her how much that myself and we all by the way just appreciate her services when she asked me why why are you doing just I mean that was it that was it not that I don't get emotional but if I were to have emotions I might have anyway guys hope you like what you saw keep subscribing to the channel and and that whole business what you guys already know anyway Marlene you're an amazing woman and I thank you have boundless respect for you and hope you guys enjoyed [Music]

That's really sweet but oh man it reeks of advertisement. Ya turned a veteran issue with someone who lost a friend in war into an ad. You want something she'd appreciate, how about homes and mental health care for veterans.

It really sucks when big brands try to use a story like this for advertising. You want to show you are vet friendly and care about those we send to fight our wars then create jobs for them, work to prevent their homelessness, help with their mental issues. Giving a car is cool, but that doesn't show you care about our vets. It just shows you know who to pick to make a tax write off look like you care.
