welcome if you're watching this on youtube this is a recording of the twitch stream and we are beginning our crusader kings 3 adventure today starting a new game we're going to be playing in the 8 67 wrath of the northmen setting play as any rule though we're going to be playing as the petty king of cornwall and just see how long we can go whether we will rise to cornish greatness or whether we will be smushed to pieces by vikings that is our west and thank you very much uh harlem for the 100 bits good morning let's do this also on youtube if you are watching this i am streaming tk3 all week tier one sub three months don't keep up with it all crazy right so yes we have um we have devon and we have cornwall um very early on i'm gonna try and go over to leon over here and grab that because that is held by a viking pagan so we'll uh we'll try and go take him out uh and grab a little bit of leon grab a little bit leon because he doesn't want a little bit leon and then we'll probably try and grab bits of ireland as well the main thing early on with cornwall is that eventually jorvik um and possibly brittany will declare warner so we need to get some nice strong allies because jorvik they have 5 000 men britney um okay they will be stronger than that soon they've only got 359 they will be much stronger than that soon i think with all their vassals they have like a good thousand so we probably want to get friendly with frankie maybe we're six to start with although we do get i think early on um a suggestion and issue suggestions it were to go and grab dorset thank you josie for scrolling with here what's up george of ice this is going to be a pain yeah basically we need to kind of grab grab chunks of ireland whales uh maybe bits of britney and then we can challenge wessex or in real life i i live in sussex i live in this uh in this duchy this county that area over there but i thought cornwall was a good start good fun starts let's have a little look at ourselves we've got 469 levies we're a holy warrior a skill tactician okay we've got a nice martial focus we are not married though so we do need to sort that out um how did how was my son created if i'm the only parent who who was his mother divine child of the gods um so yeah we're cornish because we're the only cornish like faction in the game kingdom in the game we are the head automatically of our cornish culture which is which is useful we're going for elephantry what why are we interested in elephantry that makes no sense we've already got casa speller though um oh no we haven't got castle's ballet sorry that's what we want we've already got the ones in green we haven't got that one we've got crop rotation currency has to spell a we can use individual uh counter cast about 60 years for that i might go for barracks it's going to take a long long time city planning kind of never know which of these to go for gavel client it'll take a long time 46 years for public works uh that might be useful useful actually let's check in public works first although if we check this county yeah oh we can we can just individual ones we can just go from now we'll go public works first i think born just living the independent dreams yeah so decision wise we can actually we have a major decision to restore the kingdom of cornwall um because we're currently a petty king this would actually establish us as a as a full you know big you know full fat king rather than king light um we get it if um if own if we own the duchies of wessex and heist as well they also become du jour uh duchies within the kingdom of cornwall so i'm not actually gonna push that decision because we could go for it once we have another 273 gold but i'm going to wait until we get wessex and twice under our uh under our control because then they'll be du jour part of the kingdom of cornwall which will make it easier for us to hold on to them and have claims and things like that have you not heard of the mighty cornish war elephants i know right all the attentions time in memorial the magic cornish war elephant um but yeah so we'll leave that we can concentrate bloodlines found holy orders found new kingdoms uh and all that but anyway let's uh sort out some of this stuff lifestyle focus we've already got a load of martial focus because of our our education so when you when you educate children they will get bonuses and starting perk bonuses for their education if they've had a good education so obviously our king he had a good uh martial education so we've already got a load of the gallantry perks unlocked so we'll continue through that we'll go for peacemaker and then we'll get gallant and that gives us the uh the gallant trait at the end why am i streaming all day long i can expect me to do some work on this i am sorry sorry i thought merlin was no they they they reckon that tintagel was um well yeah they reckon it depends on the legend some legends or or part of the myth believe welsh origins some believe it's cornish origins because they they reckon that tintagel might well have been part of his part of his realm or based off it as it were obviously it's all um it's all it's all myth and legend i actually have i'm actually gonna have i've got a cornish pasty for lunch didn't actually plan that for this stream happy happy coincidence that's what i have and here we see the mightiest cornish war elephant in the wild they have lived long on the plains of cornwall we're tamed by the early settlers thank you for that david attenborough regime ghost boy yeah going oh one thing just a quality of life thing that will make your well a change in the settings that will make your gameplay of ck3 much better when you hover over something you see that the a box appears for this perk right now if i press my middle mouse button down that then locks that so it means i can look at it and i can read everything in there anything that's blue uh you can then hover over you press your middle mouse button again and it locks by default you have to hover over it and then the little loading bar will build up and then it will lock i've got it locked to my my middle mouse button so if you go to game settings you want this one tool tip mode action lock do you will you will thank me later but change that to action lock by default it's timer lock and that means you have to stay with your mouse over on the box that you want to lock if you move away it disappears action lock change it to action lock because it is super super useful super useful um because anything that anything that brings over a box like this barony um of blue system oh no i can't actually oh no i can if i hover over the actual name right click it locks whereas if i didn't lock it and i move over to it it disappears if i move off because if i want to read anything on here see any of the details so yeah get that out of the way but yes definitely do it definitely do it anyway let's lifestyle focus we're going to continue our marshall focus we want to finish that off we might as well finish off that tree we will go for um action advantage prower paris is quite useful for us we've already got a fair bit of martial what actually is our prowess it's only seven three would be useful but i probably won't have been fighting the front line i might just in that case go full strategy focus because having more marshall uh if we go back to our character we hover over marshall here it tells us the effects of it so having more marshall gives us an increased levy size and increased uh levy reinforcement rate so yeah let's have a let's have a bigger levy right let's get myself married and hello we can marry a princess of west frankie like my diplomacy score is one yeah he's not very diplomatic thankfully that i mean i say thankfully it does affect general opinion -14 which isn't ideal but hey-ho we we can get we can get married to the princess earman trude of west franco if we want to we definitely want an alliance with west frankie because always we're going to get wrecked uh by vikings uh they will if we click on that we can see you know roughly we want to work out our alliance based on the number of men they can provide to basically help us out in wars so we don't want to go for the duchy of canterbury over um over west frankie because they can provide 2 300. and we're going to need that we're going to need that it's just the question now is whether we go for the younger princess uh hiddleguard or whether we go for the elder she is pretty good with diplomacy she's calm she's greedy and humble um 17 diplomacy eight martial yeah she's the better the better sister to go for so we will do that they are going to accept thank you very much uh medium chance of children that's good that's fine they're vastly superior strong enough we get a load of um prestige as well because we are we are we are punching well up uh right now thought i ally with an english kingdom we could do if they had anyone to manny that's me i can marry him off my half brother they don't have anyone they have no recipients available uh also the english kingdoms are gonna are gonna get trapped on by the vikings so you kind of don't wanna you don't wanna bet on the the the flogged horse right now we need to choose someone for our half brother who is currently our chancellor we'll take a look at our council in a minute kingdom of navarre we could go for that uh those guys over in wales they'll get jumped on as well so i think we will where is this this is over over in spain as we're going to want to sway him early on so he does like me because then when he does like us he will provide levy and um troops oh my god look at that marshall you're terrible sir who put you in who decided you would be a good marshal with zero oh god um what do you are you good at anything no i can't really salvage you you are terrible me lord absolutely bloody terrible this guy is a guest he's got 10 marshall you will do although what's the spy master like uh god that is that is shocking you've got no diplomacy we'll recruit you straight to court you're going to cost me 10 gold that's fine um and yeah fire that guy pop you straight in here dear now the the sub count doesn't cover much talk only covers the the bishop you're really not missing out on that no you don't need to build ships in this anymore you just you just pay a fee to embark basically um but we do need nights though we do need night so let's get some more nights uh invite knights to our court it will cost us 150 prestige send the herald right and then we'll press play and just let some things happen let the alliance appear formed alliance nice boom boom boom boom boom [Music] no more naval battles wedding having the sneak counter up there i'll probably move it to the middle of the screen because like nothing happens at the top middle but it should be fine right we've got a night arrived we will definitely recruit you to our court uh 20 gold oh yeah we've gained we gained more from that that's another thing you need to do i would highly recommend you go to your nights when you first start your game and you go through and you tell all of your council members to be forbidden from being knights because otherwise they get killed in combat and then you lose a good council member so i'm going to tell all of them i don't know half brother forbid marshall for bed so we currently he can be yes he can be a knight the the chap i want to die he's terrified of me due to my dreadful reputation oh how much dread do i have i've already got a little bit of dread i've only got a tiny teeny tiny bit of dread what's wrong with you you are an absolute waste of space though so you can be a knight with zero uh prowess you will die you will die oh dear so yeah we need more knights because we've currently only got uh ronan who's a good who's a good night boy right we have four issues it's suggesting we can fabricate a claim on dorset but that would be suicidal doing that uh up against el alfred and obviously he would call in big bro um not a good idea we will call our war against the uh against the pagan so we're gonna jump straight into that i think we're already at full full strength there i might wait until another night arrives get my court as well we do need a physician we need someone that is good in learning as our physician oh you're you're good as yeah intrigue but i don't think i've got uh i might be able to arrange marriage between yeah you and yeah let's marry knights are they're kind of key characters that but if they're if they if your character is assigned a knight they give bonuses in your roles when you fight battles i do have a nice big old beard yeah that's true uh other issues yeah we're gonna just wait a little bit longer for our levy to build up but uh we can create mana arms regimens but they cost us gold so we won't do that just yet i wouldn't mind another night or two appearing how do you redeem the sword you have to build up your channel points and then you can then you can do it come on need another night i know we've got a few nights we've got two currently which is not ideal oh yeah position that's what i was gonna look for anyone with good learning yes you can be my physician 17 boom she's now my physician good good oh wait my wife will be here which means we can get her to help us out she's currently assisting us we could get court politics gives us plus 11 to our diplomacy uh assisting ruler does plus five diplomacy plus two martial that's kind of a good even spread so we'll probably leave it at that for now actually that's that's a good spread your quarters get a say in marriage proposals if not you could recruit that lady to your court and force issue that way um i i don't yeah i think if that's true i can just recruit to my court she will cost me 10. that's fine so yeah let's just arrange marriage between her then if they can resist we'll find out oh yeah no they don't care cool yeah do that might as well good shout good shout she's a good lassie i was kind of hoping another night to do that straight away i can call my allies to this war but it will cost me prestige and uh i don't think we need to do that 350 as well yeah we're gonna land we're gonna fight here is the battle so we've got our advantage plus 22 in our favor so our knights basically contribute to our our advantage and our roles basically but that's why you want to have good nights good prowess your mighty jam targaryen on high stream you take you through all during your first week of uni oh i mean first week of you that's freshers week you're not gonna have a problem with that you know you're not missing prowess so those are you wondering about knights prowess the secondary skill that reflects characters aptitude and personal combat a high power skill means they are more likely to survive and perform well both as knights in battles and in jewels so yeah have it have they basically there's a good chance that you during a battle you'll see a thing come up and say we've one of our knights maimed a knight belonging to the enemy or ripped their heads off or something like that i missed the dragon for you subscribing sorry mr dragon for you thank you very much subscribing so many of you craziness our diplomatic range i would just love a little column here that tells you whether they will accept being invited to your court um we can change it so it's not so go unlanded i wouldn't know any of these guys right now which of them are willing to join me unless i right click um and then we have to see if or you're a captain of a mercenary company scroll down a bit you're all you're all captains aren't there other characters here uh unlanded say just not ruler here we go so if i went on there more no oh yeah invite to call right at the top so there we go will not accept so i just love a little column that tells you at a glance whether they will accept being invited to your court because that was that was something i would do at the start of every ck2 game like basically just invite a load of new counselors straight away there's a filter option yeah there's a filter option to search for traits so you can do um like genius or something like that and then you can select that and then it will just show you everyone with genius but i kind of wouldn't mind having also just a little bit that shows you without having to right click just just a little little niggle there a little little thing oh what on the right hand panel is that if there is then i have been wrong this whole time toggle filters an interview nothing in there no nothing over that way that i can see that that's one thing i wouldn't wouldn't mind and also the other thing would be being able to tell your allies armies to join your force that that's they're usually pretty good though at following you anyway right now we've just banned our army we should be able to tell my marshall to go and increase control oh the crusades there's fault it has begun at 868. he's a bit he's a bit thirsty for some for some crusading what the heck raw diack okay oh it's just we have access to crusades now okay that's fine go away oh yeah so increase that we're also going to want to convert the culture here they're bringing the child you can tell your allies to join you in a war yeah yeah but you can't i haven't found the button or the option that tells them to join your army specifically and follow you around like there was a little option in um ck2 yeah we're trying to sway this this bishop because he's currently not he doesn't support us which is not not good your realm priest does not endorse you four years maybe even a bit longer than that basically they're meant to represent veteran uh viking raiders that have been traveling with heston and bjorn while they went around on mediterranean campaigns this is the 867 start until death yeah we'll find out what happens if we die or not uh if we can survive right low county control we've got all that going on it's already kicking off uh yeah i'm not helping out with that i'll wait i'll wait and take part in this fun fun crusade although we're going to get munched unless someone bigger joins in [Music] oh ally joins the wall it's carliman know what the specific side of how to get that one uh oh yeah this is this is not good um we're gonna want to abandon that scheme because otherwise he is gonna be very very pissed i don't think i all sorts of fun out of 10 would recommend i would like to get me some men arms but i can't really afford their upkeep right now was it my five percent chance accidentally did an option really another
