The Real Reason The iPhone 12 Doesn't Come With A Charger

hey everybody david and david here from payetteforward.com and upppphone.com and in this video we're going to talk about apple's decision not to include a charger in the box with the iphone 12. and why not save the environment so we are removing these items from the iphone box which reduces carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials we've already shipped 2 billion chargers and there are also over 2 billion apple power adapters out in the world and that's not counting the billions of third-party adapters that's true two years ago i bought an iphone 10s it came with the charger this is the charger it came with people usually update their phones every two years or so open the box the iphone 12 no charger rip open the cable doesn't fit usb c charger is what you need so first thing you're going to give an iphone 12 to somebody as a family member a friend for christmas it doesn't come with the charger in the box here's your phone you can use it for about an hour you can set it up and then it does and then it dies there's your phone sorry grandma so why did apple do this last year the iphone 11 pro did come with a usbc charger that was compatible with the iphone 12. that was the only model the only year that they did that why would they only do it one year because they want to sell you chargers they want you to go to the apple store and spend money because you don't have these types of chargers at home so you can get around going to the apple store you can go on amazon there's a company called aukey you know how to say that and you can buy a usbc charger a wall charger for about 10 not a bad deal here's why this annoys me the iphone 10 came with a dongle when they eliminated the headphone jack so it had this dongle in the box you would plug your headphones into it and then you can plug it in to the iphone and use your old headphones with the iphone 10. a couple years went by they kept putting it in the box and now they don't anymore that's okay with this they could have made a similar dongle and that's what they should have done they're right that people have jillions of chargers and cables at home and yes you can use your old cable to charge the new iphones but all they needed to do and what they should have done was include one of these and you could buy a two pack of these on amazon for ten dollars this little thing is a female usbc to a male usb a standard usb adapter so if i take my new cable that came in the box and i plug it in to this little adapter that apple easily could have included in the box i think that would fit in the box too and they would still be able to cut down on their carbon footprint which is exactly the reason why they said they were doing this so now i've got this little adapter on here and god knows that apple's great at making adapters and dongles i plug it into my old charger i plug it in [Music] plug this end into my phone and the phone charges easy that is what apple should have done with the iphone 12. why didn't they money there is no reason to believe the environmental reason for this because they're forcing you to go out and buy chargers and if you compare the size and the amount of plastic that goes into manufacturing this to this i think you can see that this would have been the more economical choice but it would have cost them another 15 cents and i don't even think it'd be that much you're probably right that's why i don't like this setup sorry grandma you have to go to the store now to use your phone battery's not included yes charger not included it'll be interesting to see if we talked about a little bit yesterday about whether a lawsuit is going to come out of this where you can't charge your phone right i mean i think that it will because yes on the box it says that power adapter and headphones are sold separately but people who are buying this product do not get to closely inspect the box before they buy it unlike toys where you have to have this disclaimer battery's not included this needs to have a charger not included disclaimer that is readily apparent to anyone who's purchasing the phone because not everybody's an apple expert right yeah if you think about getting someone an iphone 12 for christmas or a birthday or an upcoming holiday make sure to get them everything they'll need right it'll cost you maybe an extra 20 to get all that stuff but right and you have two choices go on amazon and buy a two pack of these adapters for ten dollars or go on amazon and buy a usb wall charger that works with the cable that comes in the box for ten dollars how much they selling those at for apple they're selling it for nineteen dollars it's not worth it go on amazon don't give them that nineteen dollars don't give in they want that you need to know about apple's decision not to include a charger in the box we're a little frustrated by it uh it's unfortunate i i kind of get the angle of we're gonna help protect the environment but this this little thing doesn't take a lot of space up in the box it's nice that they're saying it but it would be nice if they had included it and look they could have just built in a little hole right there they could have stuck this in you know so yeah this is uh some bs and we're calling apple on it because they deserve to get called every once in a while because they're playing the good
