The PS4 Slim is weird...

I bought a brand new PS4 slim and in this video we're going to see what happens when you put a foreign disc in it we're also going to do some other various experiments that I think you guys will enjoy so basically what we'll do in this video is put PlayStation games Xbox games Nintendo games and some other secret games I have inside of this PS4 slim and just see what happens so we'll start here with the PlayStation games I got a PS1 game first Disney's Tarzan oh that's not good this slim is making noises I have never heard before all right well it's not doing anything it's not telling me it's not reading it's not saying it's dirty it's not saying it's unrecognized just straight up doing nothing except making the strangest noises I've ever heard so go ahead and eject that put a PS2 game in next and oh I just noticed this this is funny back in the days when you could call a hotline for hints and tips and pay 95 cents a minute that's awesome we'll put a PS2 game in got a feeling it's going to be about the same as the PS1 game where it tries to read for 20 minutes and just never does any never mind okay it says unsupported disc we'll see what happens when I click on it this disc is not supported by the PS4 so at least recognizes it somewhat what I really wish would happen is that it would read the game and tell you what the game was let's go ahead and do PS3 game Modern Warfare 2 of course this is a Blu-ray disc so honestly I don't see why the PS4 game could not at least read the game notice this a PS3 game and tell you like hey PS3 games not supported on the PS4 but we'll see what happens there it is okay so it says unsupported disc uh yeah there it is okay so it does tell you that it's a PS PS3 disc so finally they put some respects on the PS3's name at least right put that to the side and next up we got my favorite game of all time big chunkers for the PS4 I'm really hoping they release a version for the PS5 cuz I'm tired of playing this inferior quality of the PS4 I mean you can just see the print quality here is Absolut trash uh but he even features it features Dante from Devil May Cry got the game in here it's got Dolby Digital sound which is pretty awesome and then we of course have our game map right here it's got basically everything except for Antarctica um so if you're a big fan of Antarctica or California California is also not in the game because it uh they just didn't want to be so let's put that to the side try to put the game in see what happens and man look at this crappy case they use use like a Blu-ray case for this really disappointing honestly un dude come on now cannot recognize the disc make sure the disc is not dirty or damaged all right let's put that to the side next up we got Grand turiso Sport for the PS4 we'll see if this does what it should do I sure hope it does or else we got major problems here if this game doesn't work hello okay okay there it is I was actually a little concerned there at first because it was taking a little too long to read up this PS4 game on a PS4 console let's go ahead and eject that and try out a PS5 game all right so we got the medium a game have never played but I just have sitting around to test test consoles like this all right now PS5 game is also a Blu-Ray so you would think that with the updated firmware they could tell me it's a PS5 game and be like hey you can't play it here go uh actually it'd be smart if you put in a PS5 game you click on it it links you to the PlayStation direct homepage and you can buy a PS5 there you go Sony there's some marketing for you uh let's go ahead and pull this to the side though doesn't work now next up we're going to go into some experiments I got some good ones for you guys today and first of all let me just throw you throw you a bone from from 2013 you remember this little headset right here this a piece of junk it was fine it worked but not my favorite now what we're going to do here is I'm going to pull out my PS5 slim yes and we're going to see what happens when you use a Link cable yes I said link l i n k cable between your PS4 and your PS5 and try to siphon some energy from the other one let's do it all right so this cable came with the PS5 it is the official Link cable so we got a usba on one side USBC on the other side plug in USBC here that's okay wait wait I forgot to show you this guys this is the other issue with the PS5 slim digit it just rocks back and forth like this naturally that's like how it is from Factory there's nothing to prop this end up all right there we go we got that side plugged in now I take the usba side to that end and we're going to see what it does now I'm hoping that one of the consoles tries to siphon power from the other one it probably won't but I just I just thought about this like 10 minutes ago and thought it'd be hilarious to try to plug in a PS it's beeping at me PS5 booted up nothing strange happening I will go to the peripherals here and see what it shows anything charging no it almost looked like the PS4 slim froze let me go back to there all right PS4 slim back Connected oh no it's fine I think elato just froze all right so nothing happens on you know kind of as you you'd expect but I just I don't know man I just thought it'd be funny to try that out now next up we're going to put our PS5 slim digital not great console to the side we're going to get our Xbox games out and try those out so we'll first start with the classic here we got Halo Combat Evolved all right let's STI stick this in all right let's see what this Xbox game does here oh baby all right Reon it is a DVD let's see what it does this might this might be the game that actually like tries to boot up oh are you interested in a free game like Wii genius move by Xbox to trick people into think they were playing thinking they were playing Xbox on their other consoles uh it just pops up says this is an Xbox game disc put it in your Xbox to start playing which no lies detected there man this is a all right let's put in a 360 game here see what it do H there he is oh oh okay so this one pops up as a DVD as well I don't know if I've ever seen a splash screen of any sort on a 360 game nope just cannot play the disc all right we'll put that to the side next up we got an Xbox One limited edition assassin screen Unity let's go ahead and see what that do slide it in I love how the PS4 intake mechanism just sounds so Jank even though this is a brand new console I've used it for like a total of half an hour maybe oh it's doing a double load right there all right It's unrecognized let's see what that says can't recognize the disc all right Fair it is an Xbox One game now next up we got an Xbox series X gaming all right let's go ahead and put it into the console see what it does unrecognized disc I mean at least it's telling us this time at least it's being truthful not just trying to lead read a game forever but anyways finished with the Xbox and Playstation games put those to the side next up we're going to do another experiment here and this one's a good one uh one one of my favorites we have this uh floppy disc reader we're going to plug this into the USB port and see what happens on your PS4 you can actually use external hard drives so I think it'll re it as something maybe okay well it's uh it's definitely reading something off the floppy disc all right let's go to I guess the settings and storage and see if it pops up USB storage devices oh there it is dude it's got 1.18 Megs we got 377 kilobytes in use uh yeah let's format it okay you got to have a 250 gig minimum I'm not even close to that I got what was this one megabyte all right so clearly that's not going to do anything else but it actually is hilarious that it recognizes it now one more other random experiment I have a PS3 controller that's wired I'm going to plug it in and see if it recognizes it I'm pretty sure it oh that's interesting it pops up and says cannot use wireless controllers for PS3 first of all this is a PS4 and second of all this is a wied controller not a wireless controller but let's go ahead and move on to Nintendo games now and try those out the uh real true test here is a GameCube game which I'll do in a second let's do wi Sports first and come back to the GameCube game GameCube games are always a little bit scary because why that pulling so slow see what it says can't of recognize the disc I mean like I said at least it's giving me the errors this time instead of just what it must be a thick disc let's put in the GameCube game I'll try to slide it in directly centered so it'll go incorrectly nope it's stuck you got to love it it just pulls it straight in and after about 2 seconds it says like yeah sorry there's no disc in here well uh I think there's a way to to manually eject it I've never tried it here but we'll try it out so if you turn this console off and then flip it over I think there's a spot where I can take a screwdriver and kind of manually manually spin the rollers so flipping this bad boy over the disc drive is over here I believe you pull off this piece right here or do we even have to pull it off I don't know I think you stick a screwdriver in there and somehow spin it let me see if I can get in there and try that out yeah well that's not working uh I can't actually tell if I'm spinning the rollers I think I am but the problem is I think the GameCube game is so small it's off the rollers completely so even if I spin the rollers pull it back out it's not catching we got the console apart and I need my glasses for this one basically what I figured out is I didn't actually need to take this console apart because I figured out my issue which is essentially when I showed you earlier I flipped to the back like so and there was a little screwdriver hole over here where I went in and had to turn counterclockwise to get it to eject it turns out I just wasn't spinning it enough because watch this guys I'll show a photo on the screen of this little mechanism but if I keep spinning look at that look at that o here comes a disc so uh yeah it was on the rollers the whole time I just didn't spin it enough this actually leads into my next experiment that we'll do after we test out the Wii U game but let's get back to the foreign disc put in a Wii U game and see what happens we stick it in not going to lie that one actually sounded like it was about to read up for a minute because it it did like a fast spin for a good 5 or 10 seconds but now it's reloading and doing all that junk that means it's definitely not going to work so let's go ahead and eject it oh gross but anyways that's all for our Nintendo games here we still got a couple stacks of some mystery games but next thing I want to do is another experiment what I'm going to do now is flip the console over put a disc in and just un plug the dish Drive power as it's running just see what happens so flipped over to the Bottom now you can see four ribbon cables here this one goes to the power button these two go to the dish drive this one goes to either the dis drive or the motherboard I'm not sure but we're going to unplug probably this one right here while the game is running and just see what happens all right guys so we're boot it up to gr Turismo sport now um we're about to select a race and I'm going to go ahead and do the deed here which is going to be very painful like this is this hurts me uh we're going to just uncp this ribbon cable right here pop it out and see what happens all right popped out it's okay the game's still running let's go back to the main menu and disc drive is making some strange noises but it's still wait nope nope now it's freezing okay I just tried to select a brace and now it's frozen H so this is interesting so it clearly still has power it's still spinning up but I'm assuming this is probably the main data line yeah there it is so it just tells us that it can't read let's close it and I guess if I plug it back in it'll be fine I almost wonder if I had unplugged it for like 5 seconds and plug it straight back in if it would have just kind of resumed that is that's interesting I've never seen that error message before let me plug it back in and make sure this thing still works by the way guys this should be obvious but don't try this at home don't mess with electronics while they're turned on just don't do it o I plugged the ribbing cable back in and it made a weird noise Let's uh close this thing open it back up and see if it works now this thing is all sorts of jacked up now it can't even close the application wait no hold on we're back are we back it was closing it came back to the screen I was on and now it disappeared I've never seen that happen before I guess the PS4 just had enough and it had no idea what to do so I just did a shut down makes sense but it sounds like the game is reading up now let me just boot it up and make sure it still works okay yes the game is still loading up still working again don't try this at home but that's what happens if you if you do want to try it all right next up let's do some some mystery games here first we got to reject this game and then I'll show you what we got in store so we got a stack of just random games and stuff we'll just start with this Sega Dreamcast game here which should be interesting I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure the PS4 cannot play CDs or music CDs of any kind basically on Dreamcast games I think it's Dreamcast games if you put them into like a CD player it'll actually play a soundtrack and play some creepy noises I haven't done it in years so I don't remember exactly but let's see if this happens to boot up no it's definitely trying but not going to do it but next up let's try we got season 3 of I Carly disc 2 let's go ahead and boot this up it should work it's a DVD as far as I remember DVDs work fine on PS4s oh yeah Nickelodeon sweet it does work now let's go ahead and move on to our next game now next up we have a surprise we got a Japanese Ratchet and Clank here and this thing is actually thin enough that it might fit in the PS4 disc drive let's see if it fits in here dude it actually does no way I think if I stuck this in far enough it would actually start pulling it in maybe no it's yeah never mind it's stuck now okay that's probably a good sign I I don't want to get UMD stuck in there because now then I'm just toast for good this next one I have up is um yeah no explanation needed here let's go ahead and pop it in and see what the Blu-ray does okay no no air message or anything but it it did one of those things where it really tried to ramp it up for a good five or 10 seconds let's go ahead and eject that unsurprisingly you can't play an HD DVD on a Blu-ray player but let's go ahead and put in a Blu-ray hold on hold on let's try a 4K Blu-ray because we know Blu-rays work because that's just what this drive is 4K Blu-rays shouldn't work because this doesn't support 4K I don't know let's see what it pops up as hm okay so this one doesn't pop up at all I actually did think this one would pop up and say like it doesn't support 4K Blu-rays but only regular Blu-rays but nope it just nothing at all all right well that's interesting make it rain all right we got some dollar bills here we're going to try to put a dollar bill in the dis drive right here and see what it does OG's of the channel will remember this we're going like vending machine time oh yeah oh yeah imagine if you could actually put a a dollar bill in your console to purchase games I mean not a bad idea it is a bad idea but oh yeah wait it's trying it's trying to pull it in I don't know it made some noises there but it didn't didn't actually spin up the rollers which is actually a bit surprising because it should have triggered the sensor but all right unfortunately the dollar bills do not work now last but not least there's one more thing I want to try here and I just want to yank the hard drive while we're on the console and see what it does it might corrupt everything yep it's it's definitely out of there now and that thing is a little hot not surprising let's see still scrolling around here oh wait wait oh here we go Go stuff is breaking now I've never seen that happen before we have these weird icons on capture Gallery internet browser and library and oh now there it goes there it goes now it's frozen it'll probably give me an error message and say that there's no detectable storage or something but I don't know let's see yeah know this this thing's just toast it just went black screen mode and that's it let me I don't know let's let's just put it back in and see what it does console's just not doing anything now not even a black screen let's go ahead and turn it back off turn it off and then turn it back on and see what it does power button doesn't respond either anymore so we're going to have to do the dirty and just yank the power cord here always hurts to do that but sometimes you got to all right guys looks like we're back up and running I'll scroll around the menu for a second just to make sure it looks good yeah we got our we got our icons back that was so weird never seen that before so this console's back to good to go despite all
