[Music] further ado we have a great man of God and he's got two fine boys we are so thankful for lo ami Diaz this man is es a preacher we have the privilege of meeting him at a conference two years ago and I'm telling you my wife was so blessed she said I'm buying the CD and she's listening to that CD at home because of that message that he preached I'm not going to say what it was in case he wants to deal with it today but he preached two awesome messages we fell in love with him when he told us he had moved to Houston he had this Sunday available we said yes we have to have him come preach the word and he'll be here tonight for all the Spanish [Music] well praise the Lord everybody and give a hand clap offering unto the Lord for the Lord is good and His mercy is everlasting hallelujah amen so good to be in the house of the Lord this morning I absolutely love the Lord's Day Sunday's since I was just an infant my mother would turn on would blast the the stereo about 7:00 in the morning and we'd have to go to church on a fast we couldn't eat we couldn't drink we can do anything on Sundays but for ship the Lord and then the only the only sin that we can do on a Sunday afternoon was gluttony that was the only sin that was allowed on Sunday but I absolutely loved that love Sundays and to come and worship with the with the people of God is an amazing thing I give honor to your pastor brother Jason and sister Kim and all of the ministry here was a great honor to meet Bishop Blas and to know that you guys are in good hands this is a great family amen [Music] my boys are with me Caleb and Micah they are 15 and 12 and they are single so [Music] we just have two requirements that you love God and that you're rich but other than that it's I was I know you've been standing a little bit but I'll tell you a little story before I start a couple years ago I was in maybe a year and a half ago I was in somewhere in New Mexico was close close to El Paso Texas somewhere somewhere in that agree and you know I was preaching out a beautiful Church Spanish Spanish speaking Church and it's an independent Apostolic Church and afterwards the man asked me he said who are you affiliated with and I said well my licensing is you know the United Pentecostal church and he said okay that's great he said you know what I was baptized in the United Pentecostal Church and I said well that's great and he said let me tell his story he said because it's really remarkable I think I've never seen these men before or seen them after but he said I used to live in Albuquerque as a kid and my parents didn't believe in the Lord or anything like that he said but they were holding tent revivals and out right by my place so I would always go by there my bike I was just nine years old and I and I was intrigued by it and I loved the singing and I loved all that so I'd always go on my bike and I'd go out and I'd hear the revival that was going on and then my father found out when my father found out he forbidden me from going back to the church and so I wouldn't tell him but I would just go Sunday mornings I started going Sunday mornings to the church and I wouldn't tell him where I was going I would just go was right it it was two blocks away from my house so I would go in and I'd come back right after church and my the pastor that was there he he stopped me once and he said son I've seen that you've been coming who are you where do you come he said well my parents forbid me from coming they they don't want me to come he said but so but I'm just two blocks over and I love the church and I want to kind of stay and he said well where do you live he said I live in such a such a place but I don't want you coming because I don't want you telling my parents and then I'm gonna get in trouble for coming to the church and he said that that's fine well his name was brother Aaron was Andrew and his brother and he was a pastor there in Albuquerque and he said you know one Saturday morning there's a knock on the door he's a nine year old boy he goes opens the door and the pastor ocean is in front of him and he goes oh you're not supposed to be here leave and so he said it's okay son and he said just bring your parents out so his dad comes out and they have a conversation and his dad again reiterated you know my son is not allowed to visit your church well that's kind of how they left the meeting well fate would have it that the next day that Sunday morning you know he was so upset this nine-year-old boy was so upset that he couldn't go to church and that he was forbidden from going to church that his dad woke up and said you know you are you're you're so annoying and so he said I want to go and see what this thing is all about for myself so they all got ready and they all walk to the chance together he said they all walked to the church together and as they're there in the service he said you know the church was ok and and the dad was just kind of bored he had never been in a service but he was just kind of bored it wasn't his thing because it was it was mainly in English and his dad was mainly in a spanish-speaking guy he understood English but he was more familiar with the Spanish culture so it wasn't his really his thing and he's just looking around and he's kind of bored out of his mind he said until the preacher came and began to preach they had a guest evangelist that was there for weeks and he said or I don't know how long he was there but there they had a guest evangelist on that day and he said that he was there and when this man started preaching he said he looked over his dad began to cry he looked over his dad began to cry on that day his that came up gave his life to the Lord the whole family was baptized whole families baptized well they moved you know they moved shortly after they had to move from Albuquerque to Las Cruces New Mexico and say they saw they lost contact with brother ocean and and all that that church they lost contact with them but when they left they they joined the a small Apostolic Church that was there in that region and so as the years went by when long story short the man went through Bible School and and so forth and he is now pastoring an incredible church and he said you know it's funny I never I've never gotten to see I wonder you know brother ocean must be brother ershon must be in it you know he's meet he must have departed by now he was an older man at the time I was only nine years old he said but the Evangelist is the one he was so impactful in my life and he preached them and I said and it was he was the part of the United Pentecost he said yes he was I said what was his name and he said his name was William Cisco that is your pastor spawn [Applause] I've been sitting on that story forever I didn't want to say that story until I came here and preached so that is the kind of legacy that you guys have going on here at this church amen it is powerful I want to turn your attention to the book of Matthew chapter 6 and I'm gonna read verse 7 through verse 13 Matthew chapter 6 verse 7 through verse 13 and the Bible reads us so in the name of Jesus Christ and when you pray do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do for they think that they will be heard for their many words therefore do not be like them for your father knows the things you have need of before you ask him in this manner therefore pray our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us of our debts as we forgive our debtors do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen I want to emphasize verse 7 when you pray do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do because they think they will be heard for their many words and then again therefore do not be like them like who like the heathen I want to speak to you on this subject here the prayer that he can't pray the prayer that headon cannot pray and would you go with me to the Lord and ask for him to help us here this morning Father we pray O God that your will be done that your grace will fill this building and that your people may not only here but understand what does saith the Lord and I pray O God that powerful things Oh God will happen here today that you administer and talk and touch every single person who was in this house in Jesus name we pray amen and God bless you you may be seated all over this building one of the things that I have realized is that prayer is universal as a matter of fact whenever surveys are conducted about how many people actually pray the numbers are pretty astonishing people actually do seem to pray see according to a Pew Research Center report for many Americans many Americans every day every day is a day of prayer because 55 percent of Americans say that they pray every day while 21 percent say that they pray weekly or monthly and only 23 percent say that they seldom or never pray in this passage of Scripture Jesus revealed 2,000 years ago what the modern research seems to indicate and that is that most people do seem to pray because there is an instinctive desire and every man to seek a higher power to inquire about the supernatural to search for answers in a transcendent being of sorts however though most people pray not all prayers are homogeneous that is not all prayers are the same according to Jesus there are different ways to pray there is a heathen way to pray and then there is a Christian way to pray there is a heathen way to pray and then there is a Christian way to pray well first let's figure out what does Jesus mean when he talks about this word heathen in this particular passage see in the modern vernacular whenever we say heathen the word heathen means a person who is not widely associated with any of the three main religions such as Judaism Islam and Christianity that is a heathen but that's not necessarily what Jesus is saying when he calls these people heathen namely because Jesus says that they think they will be heard they think they will be heard by whom by God or some divine force of some sort so they have to be associated with sort of religion of sort they have to be worshippers because they think they will be heard so you know at the very least a heaving is a person of Prayer and we can assume that they have some level of faith because they believe that their prayers will be heard an atheist or an agnostic they wouldn't believe in God well much less what they believe that God can hear their prayers so evens cannot be agnostic or atheist well another reason we know that these can't be unbelievers is because they seem to pray frequently and because Jesus says that they use many words or vain repetitions or babbling in another version and so they seem to pray frequently see most prayer neophytes most prayer rookies they wouldn't use many words in prayer they would don't even know how to pray and so if you don't know how to pray you wouldn't use many words in prayers so at the very least we know these heathens that Jesus is talking about they're professionals at this they know what they're doing it's as though they know the rituals in essence even's in this context are very religious people and it's as though Jesus has given us a warning that not everyone that believes in God is a Christian not everyone that believes in God is a Christian and we also seem to get that from the book of James that if belief was the only criteria for Christianity then demons are also Christians because the Bible says that demons believe that there is one God and they tremble at that thought and that's at service as a warning here this morning that coming to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than it cooking makes you a chef man now what separates a Christian from a heathen in this text how do we know who is praying whether it's an even that is praying or whether it is a Christian who is praying well many have said that it's because jeavons tend to ask for things you know well in verse eight Jesus said your father knows what you have need of and so many will say see there that's what Jesus was saying even as you ask for too many things and your father knows what you have need of already so why ask for things you shouldn't ask for things well I would say that's not what it is and the reason I know it's not what it is because just several verses later Jesus himself said give us this day our daily bread and so Jesus himself was asking for things and so petitionary prayer were you petitioning God this is not you know some isolated event just one time in the Bible you see it over and over again Jesus himself modeled for us petitionary prayer you know and petitionary prayer is mentioned in Scripture repeated repetitively God loves when we petition him as a matter of fact we are commanded to ask and to knock and to seek and to pursue God with our requests and our petitions so that can not be it so what separates a Jeavons prayer from a Christians prayer well ladies and gentlemen there's a clear way to tell who is a heathen and who is a Christian according to Jesus and it is by the way in which each person approaches God you see there are two distinct ways to approach God and to better understand the different ways to approach God I feel like I'm us explain it with a natural illustration you say when you approach anybody for a verbal exchange or for any sort of interaction intuitive you make assumptions about that person that is going to help you dictate how you will approach them because the deeper the intimacy you have with a person the deeper the interaction the deeper the intimacy but deeper the interaction you know there are people you see at a conference let's say and you know you've seen them somewhere but you don't remember their names you don't know where you saw them from you can't remember what city they were in when you first met them and so these kind of people what will your interaction be with these people or hopefully you want to see them when they cross the street and that's when you want to you know approach them from across the street you shout out hey nice to see you again buddy and you move on before they have a chance to cross the street and and greet you and hopefully you know not they don't know your name because that would be so embarrassing when people know your name and you don't know theirs and so that's the type of people you want to weigh that but then there's people you know there's some people you know a little more than just I've seen you somewhere but I don't know you you know you know them you you you know their name you go to church with him so you know their name you know their kids names you've never been in their home before you've never went out with him but you know who they are well those kind of people you want to approach and say hey Ben how's it going buddy and you want to pack them in the back and you want to Pat their children on the head and pinch their cheeks and said well I'll see you on Sunday yes sir we'll see you on Sunday well see the level of intimacy is dictating your level of interaction but then there are people you don't just know them and their kids you also know their momma in them you you know all therefore you know everybody in their family everybody in their family is part you know these are the people that you you drink kool-aid together you play Mexican dominoes with them together you do all sorts of stuff and so these kind of folk you don't just want to wave it across the street and Pat the truth you want to go hug their neck and and you want to hug the kids naked and you won't say where are you staying and let's go lunch and let's go to dinner let's do something while we're here let's do it together because the deeper the intimacy the deeper the interaction I travel quite a bit and it seems like half of my life is spent either at an airport or on a plane and I meet new people all the time and mainly not by not by choice people just seem to ignore the noise canceling headphones that are shoved into my auditory canal and they ask meaningful questions like where are you from you're never gonna see me again why do you ask this question does it matter but anyway so I travel quite a bit and I meet new people all the time it would be extremely weird for me to be on a plane and the person sitting next to me is just staring at me and then after about two minutes they go I love you I'd be extremely weird right why because we don't have that level of intimacy and because we don't have that level of intimacy we cannot have this level of interaction well what if this person looks at me and goes would you massage my feet that would be extremely weird we don't have that level of intimacy and even if we did I'm touching those corns let me tell you so so because we don't have this level of intimacy we cannot have this level of interaction you I'm saying and so and so you know on the other hand if a family member approached me there are certain things that I can ask of them that I could not ask of a friend and there are certain things that I can ask of a friend that I can share with just an acquaintance or a casual friend there are certain things that I can text my boys that if you got ahold of them I would lose my Minister or license because the deeper the intimacy the deeper the interaction so your level of intimacy with someone is what dictates what kind of interaction you'll have with them and whether your requests will be taken seriously or not you can't just ask a stranger buy me dinner massage my feet tell me you love me these are not things that will be taken seriously because there is no intimacy there is no intimacy where you can you know base and that that founds or bases the relationship and you can say listen there's a foundation here where I feel comfortable making this request the deeper the intimacy the deeper the interaction the deeper the intimacy the deeper questions you can ask and the more your requests will be taken seriously when you ask now the main difference between the way a religious person approaches God or a heathen in this context and the way a Christian approaches God is that when a even approaches God he approaches God as a business acquaintance a business appointment where as a Christian when he or she approaches God he or she approaches God as a family member a family member and there are two distinct levels of intimacy here a business acquaintance versus a family member see the foundation of a Christians interaction is found in his deeper intimacy was a dog and is the difference between a business acquaintance and a family member well see the basis of a business acquaintance when he or she interacts with you is I have something for you I have something for you and you have something for me but the basis of a family relationship is not I have something for you it is I am something to you I am something to you one has to do with doing the other has to do with being I am something to you so whether you give me so whether you do for me whether you have something for me and not is out of the question who as far as our relationship is concerned we have a relationship based on the fact that I am something to you I have something for you one has to do with performance the other has to do with commitment a business relationship is conditional a family relationship is unconditional one has to do with you know being the other has to do with doing see the business paradigm says if you perform then I will accept you if you do what is in this contract then I will accept you but the family paradigm says since you are already accepted now you should perform since I've already accepted you I have no choice you are my family now you should perform and that is the difference there are two ways to live in a home there are two ways to live at home you can either live in a home as a boarder whose pay who pays rent or you can live in a home as the child of the landlord well but the two the two you know people in question here have two different relationships to the landlord one the border has a relationship that is based on goods and versus I pay rent in exchange for room and board and many have this approach to God they approach God on that level that's what evens how evens approach God they approach God on that level on the level of performance on the level of business on the level of a boarder paying rent to their to their landlord you see there's a sense of entitlement with borders as long as I pay the rent the landlord needs to supply a room upkeep my living quarters and do everything in his power to help me feel at home that relationship is based on goods and services I have my duties and you have your duties and only people who don't have an intimate relationship with God approach God in that sense as a boarder I'm so their interaction is shallow because their intimacy is also channel I see people that approach God on that level of heathens I pay tithes so you need to provide I fast so you need to answer alright praise so you need to get me out of all my troubles and people who have this attitude they are boarders I'm not children they have boy boarder mentality I have done such a such a and now you do such and such for me it is a works based faith it is a faith that says if I work hard enough then I will get you to respond in a certain way see in this text there is a way that you can tell a heathen from a Christian and the way that you can tell is because when the heathens interact with God they have what the Bible describes as vain repetition I looked that up and what that vain repetition means it is you know babbling in another version it is a phrase that means empty words or futile words these words are empty you know why because they are impersonal these words are empty because they are mechanical because they are robotic there's no love in empty words there's no sweetness in empty words there's no affection in empty words there's no intimacy in empty words it's just business you know I have my duties you have your duties performed and now you perform there's no there's no intimacy in it and the way that you can tell is even is because his prayer life is full of duty and obligation his prayer life is filled with entitlement and with ritual the prayer of heathen has been committed to memory it has been learned from a book it has been accompanied by a set religious procedure it is a mechanical request to somewhere come from a heart is running over and I shall not want [Music] does that come from that heart does that come from that heart piney the elder he wrote of the ancient Romans prayers and they were all he then he says their prayer was a single most powerful religious action and knowledge of the correct verbal formulas was the key to its efficacy well see there they were more concerned with ritual and repetition rather than honesty and intimacy their key to their prayer being heard their key to its efficacy being efficacious their prayer was they had to have knowledge of the correct verbal formulas see they had to know exactly how to pray and they believed that if we know exactly how to pray then that will unlock a door of miracles and blessings for us and you can see that in the prayer of the worshippers of Bale on Mount Carmel because according to the book of first kings they called upon the name of the law a bail from morning until noon that is six hours people because you is father morning started at 6 a.m. and so from 6 a.m. until noon they clog upon the name of Dale and how did they call upon the name of bail this is what first Kings tells us they said all bail answer us Oh bail answers for 6 hours Oh bail answers all their interests I ask you this question on what basis that they approach their God they approach their God on a business basis on an acquaintance basis all bail we have put our skins we have sacrificed our animals we prayed from morning until noon in this hot Sun for you now it is your turn to provider you're in the contract please answer us please pay up we've done our part now you do yours friends that is business what is a contractor what is an agreement that is a borders mentality I'm paying rent now you provider I give to you now you give it back to me I have paid up now it is time for you to get for me I'll shout your name for six hours straight and maybe that will get the trick done at a social media debate several years ago with a Muslim friend who was appalled at how intimately I referred to God he said that God is great and awesome and that men con should never refer to Allah in such terms he said Muslims could never call him by any of the affectionate terms that Christians have for him and honestly after I had this debate there was something appealing to me about his premise because ladies and gentlemen I do believe that God is to be respected and God is to be feared and God is to be adored and God is to be worshiped reverently decently and in order it's what Jesus himself said this was his this was his you know his feeling and his passion follow and be your name let the people of the earth hallow your name let them take your name seriously and not in vain let them make your name wholly upon the earth that's what Halloween means holy and let me tell you something this is you know what I'm saying this this this right here be I began to read and read more and I said man you know what I actually like this because in a in a world where things are so informal and so casual you know I want to make sure that my spirit is right when it comes to God he's not just you know my buddy buddy although he is a friend but I just want to make sure that I do a Glore and revere and honor him and that's why this is completely personal just me you follow whatever your pastor tells you but as far as me I absolutely love this tradition and it is a tradition among us it is not Bible or anything like that it's a tradition but I love the tradition that we have it for the most part in the United States of America where we dress up on Sunday morning and we put on our Sunday best to come to the house of God I love this tradition I'm not saying you've got to wear a tie or you've got to wear a suit even if you wear a t-shirt make sure your iron that stuff get all the crinkles out of your pants coming to the house of God put some deodorant on and some Cologne on and get to the house of God looking decently in an order because you wouldn't dress like that to go on a date you want to dress like that to go on an interview and so when you come to the house of God you want to put and follow you in whatever you're attending you want to be able to say I value this is the worth that I see and coming to the house of God my god I want to do that but the main title that this Muslim friend had found issue with was when I called God father that drove him absolutely mad he could not stand the fact that I had called him father God Father and as I've reflected on his arguments I asked myself does this my Bible because you know we are to call god father does the Bible minimize in this way the greatness of God there's a really minimize the greatness of God and then I began to read more and I realized no the Bible does not minimize the greatness of our God the Bible affirms because in the Bible God is a ruler in the Bible God is more than just king of kings in the Bible God is creator he is all powerful he is so powerful says he with the palm of his only and wise and powerful God he is her Bible does not minimize the greatness of God our Bible affirms the greatness of God and is so do we that's why we sing sounds like how great is our God and it's not enough that I singing I want you to join in with me because I say swing with me how great is our God and then there's an old song right of a road what a mighty God we serve and then he's sitting again what am I God we serve angels bow before him we serve we don't minimize so greatness of our God we believe he is all-powerful [Applause] whoa that's the day the Lord yet yet when Jesus started off his prayer he did not start off his prayer saying our king who art in heaven and he did not start off his prayer by saying our creator and ruler and leader of all the heavenly hosts who aren't in heaven no he didn't even say a friend who aren't in heaven though God is a friend he is a ruler he is king he is the lord of heavens hosts ladies and gentlemen here is the greatest distinction between a healings prayer and a Christians prayer when the Christian praise the Christian doesn't just call him ruler or King he doesn't just call him friend the Christian says [Applause] because Jesus wanted you to know on what basis you are gonna approach God right he says when you pray for the throne of grace [Applause] you're not just praying to a king of an invisible Kingdom you are praying to a heavenly I'm so glad the Lord didn't even start his prayer by saying friend in 15 minutes and I'll be down the Lord didn't even start his prayer by saying friend you know why because even friends are somewhat of a hybrid why because you know a friend is somewhere between a boarder and a child somewhere between a business acquaintance and a family member there is some level of love between friends that is not present with a stranger but even friends are completely based on performance no way that's my BFF best friend forever ain't nobody gonna tell me otherwise oh really let your BFF start talking to your ex all right you know why cuz friendship is not the strongest bone on earth family is the strongest bone on earth family is the strongest pawn on earth that's why we call each other brother and sister that's why we're of the same household of faith that's why we have the same blood running through us that's why we had the same father because we are the family of God I want you I want you to think about a four-second family it's the strongest bond around and some people here will say well you think family is the strongest bond on earth because you've never met my family I get it I get it I get it your family puts the fun in dysfunctional I understand that we are living in a very complex world where traditionally family values are regressing each day however I want you to think about this for a minute the dysfunction in your family is actually what proves that paradigm that family is a strongest bond on earth it's the dysfunction it actually proves it well how do you why do you say that I'll tell you why you'll see it really clearly about a month and a half ago you know now you're in Christmas season that's where you see it or Thanksgiving even or you know any kind of holiday that's when you'll see it even better because families come together from all over the nation during the holidays they get together from everywhere to celebrate the holidays but here's the deal in some of you even as I said that you just had an ulcer just as I said that just the thought of what went on in December with your mother-in-law you're over here just you know you you know in your mind you cussing out of my in Jesus name right now see because people came together auntie Maria she comes from New York but she hasn't spoken to her sister in two years over the disagreement of the disbursement of their inheritance from their grandmother because you were put in charge but you took an extra three thousand four hundred and ninety eight dollars and fifty three cents and yes girl I was counting and it's not about the money it's about the principle I knew you were a weasel and a liar and a thief I've always known you were adopted I haven't I want nothing to do with you and your kind you know you should go to jail for what you are doing you are keeping my 3,000 dollars away from me a coming together and cousin Mark will be there from Virginia but he is offended because he came out of the closet as a gay man you know a couple years ago and you know how our cousins are they are ruthless most of the cousins are desperately trying to shove him right back in that closet they're like you know what when we photoshop your boyfriend's picture from our Facebook we don't want to hear about your sexual preferences anymore you're not part of this family if you but cousin Mark he won't even with his cousin's he's going eat upstairs by himself on Thanksgiving but he's their grandpa Jim he's hosting this year but he's always upset because everyone has left them to die by himself I'm an old man I don't know how to use this iPad thing nobody facetimes me anymore I don't know who my grandchildren are who's that one he is he ma he looks black was going on right then two of the sisters they're in fighting because their children don't seem to get along and one set of children is favoring a sip favorite over the other so you know it's you know what girl I know your kids they get the best presents up in here and you know what I'm just gonna take my kids we're gonna eat and then we want to leave cuz I can't stand being up in here everybody's all up on my business and all and I know why it is this cuz y'all don't like my man but that's my boo that's my baby that's my man and you can't take away my man for me it doesn't matter he beats me to death he's still my man so how can you prove that dysfunction actually proves the strength of the family paradigm I'll tell you why because friends with that level of dysfunction with never be coming together the only people on planet earth still come together after all of that dysfunction they may even hate each other but they still come together it is I know mothers who have kicked their children out of their house because you're a drug addict then you steal from us and you all you bring about is violence and wrong and we don't want to hear you want to see you again but after about a year away something for me family I got a sister I got a sister my middle sister I got two siblings two sisters my middle sister and I never got along as kids never got along as kids mainly because she's a terrorist she straight-up Taliban listen we fought all the time for our mothers attention she had a hard time my sister had a hard time accepting her role and staying in her lane as the younger subordinate ugly sibling I could she just never stand in her Lane and I couldn't even stand to even look at her sometimes she was tomboyish she didn't mind her manners the way she would speak and we would fight for our moms attention and this is not like my mom would prefer her over me and this is not like I something I'm making up like bit my mom told me this my mom told me this she said baby I have to give your sister more attention she needs me more and then I did then I got the rebel I knew what it was she special needs and so we it made sense so what I would do most of the time is I'll talk to some of my friends about my sister and the problems that I was having with her and so I'd go off I mean I'm going off on you for 10 minutes because I've got a vent to somebody I got to talk to somebody so I would tell you about what my sister is doing and how she's so tomboys did you see what she was wearing the other day and I can't understand why is she skateboarding she is just a chill she's a girl and that's why the capitate all her barrett Barbies and that's why I'm just so mad I just can't stand her then why is she doing this and why is she doing that and now do you know that her my mom and her are in cahoots and do you know that the way that she speaks to my mom with such disrespect I never talked to my mother that way and I don't understand why my mother likes her so much and I were to go on and on and on and here's the deal what I expect from you as a friend is for you to lend me your ear that you would listen to what I'm saying and then what I want you to do is I want you to mildly agree with me as to say listen I'm listening to your venting I know what you're saying I understand the meaning of your words so I need you to mildly agree with me but don't go aggressively agreeing with me as though to say yes your sister is a tomboy yes she is as respectful because the moment you open your mouth up to start talking about my sister then you better throw some hands at me because we gonna go at it you know why because even if I hate her she doesn't just had something for me she is something to me that's my sister that's my girl I'm gonna protect my sister because she's family [Applause] thank God he didn't say our friend who art in heaven because at the very first sign of trouble he would have left you he said our Father because nothing can separate you from the love of a father nothing the only person on planet earth who can disrupt a king at 3:00 a.m. while he sleeps it's his son his son can walk right by the chamber guards what up y'all open up the doors go and snuggle up with daddy and say dad I know you're King and I know your crown is worth half of this world but that is it all right if I just snuggle with you for a moment I'm a little scared I had another nightmare and the daddy would put the crown away instead come on son I don't care who's out there anybody else on planet Earth I would have killed for getting close to me but not you you're my son you're my baby I'm your father let me tell you a story what can I do for you how can I make you feel safer and more secure the only person on planet earth that can disrupt the king is his son I end with this I have two boys I told your story a million times so my children know it well I have two boys Caleb and I've got Micah caleb is 15 now stud athlete well-mannered does very well you know fairly well in school very smart kind of reminds me of me and I and then then I got that one over there truth be told what I'm gonna tell you is from two years back Micah has actually been impressive lately but Micah he was going through a stage I'm gonna tell y'all he was going through a stage where I just don't know I just don't know I I wept over that kid literally wept over that kid and I didn't know if there would be hope for him just last year he received the Holy Ghost and thank God for that on that day is when I became a believer in God you are a miracle working marca did something that really it was it was bad let's just say it was bad and I remember I didn't know what to do here's a problem there's a fine line between you know when you're six four and two hundred and none-of-your-business pounds there's a there's a fine line between discipline and death right like nowadays you can't just discipline a kid especially when you're my size like I don't you know how do you discipline a kid where he feels it but at the same time when you're not going to hit Alcatraz for eight years is that so and so I'm I'm over here kind of wanted to discipline him but I I didn't know what to do and I was like Lord helped me Jesus helped me to come up with something he came from school my heart was burning I didn't know what to say and finally I just started I didn't even know where I was going I didn't know where the conversation was going I didn't know how to deal with him I didn't know what to do I just started the conversation cuz I can keep it any longer so I started and I started off and while I am disciplining him I got an email from heaven you've got mail and if you laughed you're older y'all know about that AOL right don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about you've got mail Eric so back to Micah so I got an email from heaven and I felt like I know exactly what I need to do I felt like you know what I need you to feel this how bad this was so I said you know what my god in this house you're not gonna be able to play any video games not for a day not for this weekend not for a week not for a month but for the whole rest of a school year I couldn't even believe I was saying those words and even as I said I'm like a couple of teenagers just fainted in the crowd there's no video games in my household no video games and I knew you know mangas the type he wants to let you know you didn't you didn't hurt me that bad but I knew I got him because for three seconds he try to act like nothing was wrong then all of sudden he went and here comes the waterworks and deep inside I said I got you boy gotcha but you know I travel every week so next weekend I'm out and I get a phone call yo what up man dad yep this is Micah yep dad I know you said no video games yeah that's exactly what I said but I was just wondering is it oh is it okay if just for this weekend maybe I can I can play some video games have you ever looked at your phone because the conversation you are having is so disrespectful that you don't even know how to relate you look at your phone as though your phone is the culprit right like you give the phone to stink I like that looked at my phone I said absolutely not and so I went off for my cus for about three minutes and then when I was done then like I said okay love you dad I love you too soon next weekend Oh hey whatever dad yep dad I know you said ah no video games yeah that's exactly what that I was just wondering though um is it oh is it okay if I don't want to play video games but is it okay if we just preorder 2k 17 just pre-ordering it like I don't want to play it at all I just want to preorder it just to see what goes you know I looked at my phone again I get back my boy I don't listen you're about to order two we're about to preorder 2k 47 cuz that's the year you're gonna watch her play video games [Applause] next week that yep what a man that could my friend come over and we play his video games not ours just his lady like this went on right and so then finally I was like no and you know at the end he goes okay love you dad love you too son finally there's a weekend he called yep dad you know I know we're going to New York for Christmas to go see our family and I'm gonna be out there with my cousins and like they they're gonna be playing video games do you think like not here not in our house but when we're there for a week cuz that's all there's nothing else to do dad and I love my cousins is there it could I go and play video games while I'm there this is about the fifth or sixth time and finally I didn't answer and what that means when I don't answer is I can't vocalize a yes because that would be going against my word but I won't say no because I don't necessarily don't want you to not play video games and have fun on this week so I'll just stay shut and leave it to your volition whatever you decide to do and I knew that he understood exactly what I was thinking because on the other line I could hear him whisper and he went I'm hung up and after I hung up all sorts of rap came upon me and I thought to myself this little Negro just finessed me he just what just happened I just had no backbone what just happened now so man I was about to call him back and I was about to tell him off and I was about to you know put my foot down set my foot down and my rules and all that stuff and while I was doing that I felt the Holy Spirit talked to me and he said do you know why that boy felt like his requests would be taken seriously because of his level of intimacy because he knows that yes you have to be Stern that here but he's also seen you go to sleep at 4 a.m. trying to relearn 4th grade math help him do his homework in the morning he's also seen you not miss a parent-child meeting he's also seen the way that you go to his recess when no other Father's will go and play football with him and all of his friends he's also seen the way you care for him that you've never missed a birthday you've never missed an opportunity to show how much you love him he knows that no one in the world loves him as much as you do and because he trusts how much you love for him and how much you've sacrificed for him the deeper the intimacy the deeper the interaction I am with this tonight this morning I am with this how much more when you go to our Father who art in heaven dad Abba I know you said no two months ago to my mom being healed from cancer come back and I'm gonna knock again because you spared not your own son but you gave him up for me how will you that give me all face with you so I'm coming back and I'm going back again daddy I know I miss stuff and I don't ever desert preaching again ever daddy I wrote a sermon I wrote a song is it okay maybe when you're when you're ready is they'd okay if I preach one more time is it okay will you use my life [Music] [Music]
