you as we possibly can hope you enjoy the video 9 years and 50 seasons of Pawn Stars have brought us a lot of memorable moments but there have also been a few situations that the Harrises and Chumlee would probably rather have wiped from viewers memories forever from big busts to big phonies here are 10 postures moments the cast doesn't want you to see although the Harrisons and Chumley have accumulated a great knowledge in various areas over the years they are still no true experts in most of them and Rick learned this the hard way during the show's fifth season in the episode Corey's big play he not only bought something without consulting with an expert first but actually made a deal with the seller despite having doubts about the items authenticity the customer offered him a 19th century Wells Fargo strongbox with two old prison ball-and-chain sets from the you mind Folsom prisons and even though Rick instantly identified the ball-and-chain sets as fakes he still paid four hundred and fifty dollars for everything another red flag was the fact that the owner was pretty defensive about his items but Rick still thought he could make a little profit only to have his hopes shattered when he talked to his expert later mark the beard of knowledge hall-patton called the box a complete piece of fantasy and told Rick that it was one of the most faked items altogether one would think that Rick learned from his mistake with the Wells Fargo box but he actually made a quite similar blunder only a few episodes later in the season 5 episode Pinocchio when a guy came to the shop looking to sell an old baseball card that has been handed down in his family the rare 1909 cyan card was in a bad condition but since Rick's expert wasn't available at the time he decided to take a gamble and struck a deal with the seller a $300 however when the specialist for sports memorabilia came to the pawn shop to check the card out later that day he didn't have the best news for Rick since i yang was one of the most respected pitchers of all time and had such a great influence in baseball that he even had an award named after himself the rare card from this extraordinary player in perfect condition could go for over $10,000 at auction but the card that Rick had purchased was missing a corner and looked pretty battered altogether so the expert estimated its value at no more than 200 to 250 dollars meaning Rick had overpaid so much that he would even break even its any regular viewer of the show knows the fall stars have a few tactics to beat down the sellers that come to their shop one of the tactics that they would probably prefer to go unnoticed by anyone is to gang up on the customers when someone is insulted bellow offer from one of the guys at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop if a seller starts getting annoyed one of the other paw stars will join the conversation and confirm that there is simply no way they will get a better offer elsewhere naturally when you want to sell something in several guys who seem to know everything about your item in the business tell you that this is the best deal you will get you will most likely sell it to them for a price that is way below what you had in mind but the Pawn Stars actually lied to their customers quite often in order to make a bigger profit so a lot of the sellers that come to their shop would be well advised to shop around a little more of all the Pawn Stars Chumlee is probably the one making the greatest amount of bad deals in the shop but one particularly bad one that he would probably rather forget about was when he took a pretty unlucky guess on the value of 7 boxes of old comic books during the latest season of Pawn Stars the seller had inherited the collection from a recently deceased grandfather and originally asked her $2,000 before striking a deal with Chumlee at 500 however after an expert checked the comics out he came to the conclusion that they would sell for about $200 if the Harrises were lucky naturally Rick was pretty angry about the whole thing and he can be sure that neither of them would want to be reminded of this movement on the show in the episode sticks and stones of season 8 a customer brought in a letter that he claimed to be signed by a Napoleon the man even had a certificate of authenticity to go along with the document that he had bought online from a reputable site as he said Corey thought the sign in C letter as well as the certificate of authenticity looked legitimate enough and ended up paying $2,000 for it Rick and the old man were a lot more skeptical however and sent Corey to an expert to get the letter checked out Gregory Brown the professor of history at the University of Nevada Las Vegas explained that several copies of the letter were written and sent all over Europe by Napoleon to inform the people that he and his army of frass had won the famous battle of Austerlitz in 1805 the experts stated that one of the original copies would be priceless but that one would be able to see in blobs on a handwritten document from this period and the ink would have faded in color so what Corey had bought was simply a replica which was of no real value as a historical artifact obviously Rick and the old man were not very happy about it since they don't sell fake stuff at the shop as Rick reminded his son while the old man suggested that Corey take the replica home to remind himself not to be so damn stupid surely big Hoss has some regrets about this purchase and will think twice before buying something without calling an expert in next time during an earlier season of fall stars Corey and Chumlee purchased a hot-air balloon for $38,000 and then decided to take seller Doug up on his offer to go on a ride with him piloting it they had initially found some customers a few weeks after buying the balloon and invited them to come along while Chumlee and Doug met the potential buyers is to take off spots and prepared everything Corey arrived a few minutes late and ended up chasing after the balloon because Shelley had apparently overlooked the fact that he wasn't aboard yet while the viewers remember this is one of the funniest moments in the show Corey probably wished no one had ever seen him running after a hot-air balloon like an idiot back in season seven core we set out to prove to Rick and the old man that he should have an ownership stake in the pav shop he saw an opportunity in the Lord David who came into the pawn shop to sell a 15th century samurai sword David got the sword as a collateral from a client that didn't come back to claim it so the Lord decided to sell it not having a clue how much the sword is worth during the backroom confessional before the negotiation with the seller took place Corey said that he had seen a few of those swords going for thousands of dollars which makes his initial offer of $800 really low in every sense after some negotiations the two shook hands at $1,500 which is a steal still the unsuspecting lawyer not realizing he had just been schemed said that he wanted to jump and do the dance how happy he was the expert was brought in only later on and finally estimated the swords value at around five to six thousand dollars in its current condition however it could go up to fifteen thousand dollars if Corey decided to undertake a three thousand dollar restoration which counted as a scorer in Chumley's book when watching Pawn Stars our attention is obviously drawn to the customer trying to sell an interesting that into the Harrisons or Chumlee but if you've ever paid attention to what's going on in the background you might have noticed that the Harrison store is always packed on the show if you take a closer look at the people walking around though you'll notice that none of them are really focused on the items in the shop or ever go up to the stars of the show the reason for that is that they are actually hired by the show's producers to make the Harrises place look busy while they're shooting the series and although the Harrison's definitely have enough business off camera as well they definitely don't want you to realize that the other supposed customers and the show are not actually there to sell pawn or buy anything but rather to fill up some empty space in the shop another customer that was almost schemed by the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop was a woman by the name of Diane in season four she came to the pawn shop with a bound copy of The Godfather screenplay which wouldn't be all that interesting if it weren't for the mysterious signature of Val on the first page Diane wanted to sell the script so she could raise funds for the charity organization hoping it's worth ten thousand dollars still without much to go on except enigmatic al everyone thing in about al pacino so Rick called in a handwriting expert John who eventually confirmed the authenticity of the signature despite the fact that the godfather is one of the greatest movies of all time Rick wasn't ready to give more than $500 for it so Diane decided to keep it ultimately she managed to sell the screenplay for whomping $12,000 at a charity fundraiser but there was a twist after hearing about the auction The Godfather producers stepped forward to clarify some things his name was out ready and he was actually the one who signed the script another autograph expert who made regular appearances of the show for a while was Steve Bratz he claimed to have started his professional career in radio and later majored in broadcast journalism at Columbia before working as an anchor for seven years including at a sporting news radio station his job increased his interest in sports history and he started collecting autographs which eventually led him to leave the radio and become a professional appraiser and autographed certifier who at one point was considered one of the top autograph experts in the world grant was actually based in California but would jump on a plane whenever the Pawn Stars producers called him to appear in the show between 2013 and 2014 he has stated that he was never recognized while working on the radio but since appearing on History Channel's hit show he gets stopped by fans a couple of times a day unfortunately there were some embarrassing controversy surrounding this former Pawn Stars experts it all started in 2011 when grad became the center of a lawsuit after his company had apparently tried to pass off the signature as belonging to famous aviator and military officer Charles Lindbergh only to have Lindbergh's own daughter hire an expert as successfully challenged to claim it then turned out that grad suppose that expert opinion had cost collectors hundreds of thousands of dollars because he had allegedly approved numerous forgeries as legitimate and as if that wasn't bad enough already it was also revealed that he had lied about being educated at the prestigious Columbia School of Journalism and had actually only briefly attended Columbia College Chicago in 1993 but never really graduated in fact grad admitted to not having received any formal of any kind that would have earned them as expert label he instead revealed that he had acquired the majority of his knowledge by being mentored by the kingdom memorabilia bill master Oh a man who was put behind bars for various acts of frauds thank you for checking this video outs and don't forget to smash that like button and also subscribe for new videos every day turn that Bell notification on and comment
