chime you're late no.not yeah you are oh I'm earlier than usual I mean if being stupid was illegal you'd be spending your whole life in prison can you talk to you employees like that yeah as long as none actually threatening you yeah I can if Chumlee came in on time you just find another reason to yell at him I would yell at him for being late why don't you try some positive encouragement give me a raise or something I'll raise you right off the damn floor at my shop family comes first and money comes second depending on who you ask but the best part you never know what's gonna come through that door this is Pawn Stars what do we got here well I got a couple of vintage f-16 test pilot flight suits and some aircraft memorabilia that I wanted to see if I could do something with okay um looks like it might be tall enough for me you couldn't fit in there with a chainsaw in a blender son never been up in there 16 I've heard it's unbelievable gonna 9g turn and everything I won't sell my items today because this is just some extra memorabilia that I had and I just want to see what I get for where did you get these I worked at General Dynamics for 35 years I just retired not too long ago so were you a test pilot no sir just a mechanic okay so you're not insane yeah because above I mean you got to be a little bit crit I mean no you gotta be bet crazy to actually fly in one of these things I mean especially when they first came out with them and testing the prototypes and things like that yeah it gets pretty scary the f-16 is legendary it's got top speed so fast the US military still considers it classified information it's been one of the world's dominant fighter planes since it came out in the 1970s you know who wore these well I got some pictures that show their chief test pilots wearing flat suits so these aren't military now the civilian test pilots more of these so this was basically they're walking around and closed for the day and then when they got in the plane they put on the pants that went around him that filled up with air when they went around a turn the GC yeah they seemed in decent shape I mean just by the tags though you can tell they've been washed all been washed a lot different the f16 is an iconic American fighter plane but this isn't a uniform worn by US military pilots during a mission these were worn by civilian test pilots and that impacts the price big time so how much were you looking to get out of it oh I don't know it's like maybe 500 I mean yeah it's one of those things that's really hard to come up with a price what do I think I can get out of it I give you 300 bucks for all of it I mean this is my probably it's not military right that's the big thing about three and a quarter um I know what's out there you got a deal all right Mikey I'm walking away with three hundred twenty five hopefully I'll be able to use it before the wife gets a hold of it Rick you need to do something about the old man being so mean to me watch it John I see he's not that bad he's just a grumpy old you just have to accept that I have nightmares of the old man yelling at me shamily I'm gonna put you in a damn brave tell me I'm fixing to hit you chum you're an idiot you got that Chumlee yeah I got it now get your big fat ass back to work he calls you names and he makes you feel bad about yourself oh these kids are panties you can't even yell at them without them crying about it back in my day to Boston slap your round that is if he liked you Chumlee your bow is useless is a rubber beak on a woodpecker see what I'm talking about when it's just me and him he's 10 times meaner shut up Chumlee that's the way the cookie crumbles Calvin yes sir I hope so I have a tape recording of a conversation that I had with John F Kennedy really yes sir and in it he is attempting to do something and he's really angry about it that is really really cool so did the president know you were recording him I can tell you I was on an emergency actions team in the Pentagon and I took the phone call from President Kennedy more or less by accident I could tell that there was something wrong because he appeared to be angry I'm just looking for extra cash I was an operational intelligence specialist in the Pentagon and he started raises came with me a little bit and I make the mistake according to some people to tell him that there was mistake made the White House and that didn't set to it with him Wow a couple of officials in the Joint Chiefs of Staff gave me a couple of letters of commendation okay at approximately 1:20 Eastern Standard Time so obviously you worked graveyard yes you participated in an extended conversation with the President of the United States while the latter was attempting to complete a telephone call to the army war room throughout the conversation you demonstrated to a remarkable degree an ability to respond clearly to questions posed in an atmosphere of tension and pressure what was he calling about if trying to get a hold of the army war room to ask some questions about events that had taken place in Birmingham Alabama and the next thing I heard was the president saying what's wrong with you fellas over there so the president was pissed off at you you decided so he was really concerned for the safety of the people of Birmingham thousands of people had rided they had an explosion connected somehow with the motel that Martin Luther King had stayed in yeah 1963 was one of those civil rights movement really began to get big I think that's when the people in the United States really saw for the first time how bad it was I mean it was on nationwide TV at this time dog attacks the fire hoses the riots in Birmingham Alabama got so bad that President Kennedy had to send troops to restore the peace he always came across as a really nice guy so a personal recording of him angry would be really unique so what do you want to do with it I want to sell it all right and did you have a dollar figure yes sir what's that 100,000 um I want to talk to someone about this I wasn't one to listen to it and I think they might have a reel-to-reel so okay um give me a few minutes I'm gonna go give them a phone call okay here be fine I've seen just about every piece of presidential memorabilia but recorded personal phone call that's different the fact that it involves one of our most well known presidents and it's tied to the riots in Birmingham this could be a real valuable piece of history but I want to listen to it hey Mark Rick I got a guy here he's got a tape of JFK yelling at him it's not a reel-to-reel you have one that'll work with a real drill can I cruise out okay see that nut by all right I just talked to the person who runs the Clark County Museum system he's got a reel-to-reel out there he really wants to listen to it and he's gonna be able to answer some questions for me okay so do you mind meet me out at the Clark County Museum no not at all I think you'll be surprised at what went on in the conversation I think he was really surprised but how much I asked for it you a guy came in with an amazing story about getting chewed out by JFK says he's got the whole thing on an old reel-to-reel tape and he wants a hundred grand for it so we're taking it to the only guy I know with the machine they can play old tapes like this we take a listen let's go let's do it some people think that I sleep in my hats I don't if I'm working at my desk or working at the Museum it stays off or if I'm taking a shower commendation from general Unger okay May 13 1963 this would have been during the Birmingham riot extend okay okay the president called in troops to go in there and the local authorities were doing their darkness to keep the troops up I can imagine that the president was probably pretty much on edge because things were so close to completely coming apart in Birmingham to where we might have had to occupy an American city yeah so do you remember what the conversation was one of his people had made a mistake and had given him the wrong number and he was trying to blame us and I more or less wouldn't let him one normally does not talk back to the president that's correct yeah well shall we listen to it please do hello yes sir mr. president I've taken these seven minutes to get to the fellas over there boys we do sorry sir I don't understand when I take seven minutes ago from the White House to the war room over there series has an abnormally evidently similar White House push the wrong button sir that's the only explanation well wait a minute let's get it straight first I got the regular wall roll and then they weren't able to switch me over to you don't they have a connection around there this is risky but one war room to the other we do not have time to date the Philippines whoever use that line from the White House used the wrong line so you find out who were supposed to call the future that was left there every number right and we don't have to screw around by the n-type now you tell them fella downstairs but what he calls wrong yes sir no I just wanted to find out what units you were moving the McClellan and demanded well okay that's it that's neat yeah that's an interesting piece he was not happy would this be considered public property by mid 62 they were recording in the White House and they were recording telephone conversations as well and those tapes are now publicly available so what you're saying is that this is probably in the Kennedy Library or the National Archives and this isn't like the only recording of JFK being pissed off over the phone yeah I think this is in either the Kennedy Library collection or the National Archives if this tape does exist elsewhere it might make my tape value that a much lesser amount yes it would be available elsewhere I don't know that it would have a lot of collector value I see I hate to do this to you but there's no way I could buy this yeah I think you have something really neat to pass down to your grandkids okay it was great listening to Adelphia when he told me that the tape probably had been recorded by the White House it really shocked me because I had no I yeah the thought had never occurred to me I thought I had a one-of-a-kind deal Chumlee get your ass in my office now the old man likes to abuse me when no one's around so I'm gonna prove it by recording it I don't even think he knows phones can record video so this should be pretty easy damn Jam it's about time you got here What's Up boss oh my bed Oh was working with Chumlee is like working with a two-year-old but a two-year-old would be smarter let me see your phone for a second town one why I just want to say it for a minute give it here I want to record your face when I tell you I'm taking away your phone you can't steal my phone yes I can't Chumlee I'll pick up the papers and go to work I'll give you the phone at the end of the day I'm not an idiot damn nice phone what's up players hey let's go to MIT well I thought I might be able to sell you a chemistry set I got it for my 10th Christmas present well you must have got this thing a long time ago everything in my life was a long time ago I came to the pawn shop today to sell a really cool vintage chemistry set my Christmas gift 1936 this chemistry set almost got me banned from the neighborhood I would like to have maybe 150 I don't know we'll negotiate that we'll see what happens my dad believed in educational toys I really was disappointed and this wasn't on my list but in here was the magic because it told me how to make gunpowder so I followed the directions took a pan of water and a brick and set it in the middle of the thing put a tin can over it and vited all the neighborhood kids then it worked the water exploded then the can went over the telephone wires and I was in business so you were the coolest guy in the neighborhood these vintage chemistry sets are cool and they definitely don't make stuff like this for kids anymore but if I buy it I'm gonna have to make sure Chum doesn't blow anything up this was just simply the way your chemicals came aluminum chloride sodium phosphate a powdered zinc that was a good one that added a lot of zest to the whole system you've got some pretty dangerous stuff in here know some exciting stuff so what are you looking to get out of it well I think it ought to go for at least 150 as a collector oddball item I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that would love to have it you're definitely not gonna be able to give something like this today but I've got a few concerns with it like I don't know if I'm even allowed to sell this are you 45 bucks forty-five well little wait a minute here now I'll drop to 100 and remind you that you can't buy chemicals in wooden containers anymore I'll tell you what I'll do 60 bucks $60 $60 only because I'm afraid I'm gonna have to throw half of it away okay that's a good deal I'll go along with that all right man okay thanks a lot charlie all right yup good okay I think that's more than fair I think it'll be better than having it set in my closet and I sure don't want to give it to my grandkids so I think this might be in safe hands it's not my phone hello this is Chumlee phone who in the hell sis what do you answer my phone calls for the old man took my phone because I was trying to record him being mean to me and now he's rubbing it in my face he gets meaner every day no you can't talk to him he's working right here then why ain't you at work just hang up I'll call you back I'll get you acid damn job then goodbye they'll talk to my grandma like that what your grandma hey Corey Chum just got a text message what's OMG stand for its text code it's an acronym for oh my god how do you K I don't know what do you mean you don't know means I don't know it has to mean something I don't know oh you don't know nothing Cory it's getting hard out here for a pimp I mean this is a dumbest thing in the world just pick up the damn phone and talk to someone how's it going I got something here you guys might be interested in or we got it's a baby rattle from the early 1800s a baby rattle it's sterling silver there's a whistle and some bells on it the kids would teeth on this end of the pearl so why people have such bad teeth back I bought it from a friend of mine I had to have it because it's a early piece it's unusual and I never had one before it's made out of pearl and it's made out of sterling silver and most a toy or made out of plastic I'd like to sell it get the money out of it to buy a watch with do you know much about it I know it's got the cat no fiddle and the cow jumped over the moon on it and it's got a sterling work and the whistle does work those and you would think this would be gross and nasty for a little baby but one thing about sterling silver is bacteria cannot live on silver I didn't know that it's got antibacterial properties on it so this would be a good thing for a baby because it killed germs this was made by Gorham that's an American silver company they started off in the 1830s 1840s right around then if it wasn't the best silver maker in the United States it was close to it they made tons of things like this they made Christmas ornaments they made whistles they made little tea sets for kids out of sterling silver I've done some research on this and I've only found one other one what you're saying is you got the holy grail of baby rattles here and maybe maybe not if you are rich in the 1800s and one or flaunt it this is what you spent your money on nothing says status like a silver baby rattle and Gorham made some of the finest silver items on the market well let me take a look if you look at the hallmark on it um it's a later hallmark it's from 1862 like 1890 so we know it's not really early stuff they used like a pewter solder which is like copper and ten it's not a silver solder because you can see it turning green right in there really okay well here's my opinion of it it's a bake really um it's just spit marks everywhere and that is not the kind of thing you will find on Gorham ever the hallmark on it is barely legible I don't think this is original I think someone put this in there because it looks like they just plowed right through the middle of this little scene with the cow jumping over the moon it doesn't seem like something Gore would do people are baking baby rattles people fake everything okay it looks like it's been reproduced by somebody it just doesn't look right okay and generally when it doesn't look right it's not is they real peril on it um yeah that's real mother-of-pearl but other pearl is inexpensive okay and you just have maybe ten bucks with a silver there and I'm gonna pass I actually thought it was real I mean I thought it was worth a few hundred bucks anyway you know if you bought it off a friend maybe you get your money back yeah maybe or maybe he won't be a friend anymore all right sorry but I think he's wrong because I think they wouldn't put that big a piece of pearl on something that was faked and I don't see why somebody would fake something that unique hey guys what's going on son he took my phone earlier today and he won't give it back he was trying to record me he's trying to get me upset he to papers off to deaths you try to record me again you're a dead man says threatening dad you're not threaten him I'm just saying that he'll die if he does give his phone back you can't take someone's phone that's theft don't worry about it Rick I'm I'll give me the damn phone back here you to me come on you got a text from referral charlie is it a picture let me see I tell you what they don't look like your grandmother
