Luke chapter 7 verse 36 verse 37 and verse number 38 I want to preach about the party crasher party crasher and one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him and he went into the Pharisees house and sat down to meet and behold a woman in the city which was a sinner when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisees house brought an alabaster box of ointment and stood at his feet behind him weeping and began to wash his feet with tears and then wiped them with the hairs of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment thank you you may have your seeds the grass withers and the flower fades but the word of our God shall stand forever the party crasher there are several scenes in the Bible when I read them or hear them read but if I had the privilege I would like to have been there I wish I could have been there when Moses was on the backside of the Midian desert and saw that burning bush I wish I could have been present when the Red Sea opened and the children of Israel walked through it on dry ground I wish I had in my possession one of those stones that they piled up after they cross the Jordan River and they said what mean if these stones just in case your children want to know it was God who brought us through the Jordan at flood stage I wish I could have been there when David took that slingshot and killed Goliath cut off his head and raised it in the presence of them all and said to them now everybody will know that there's a God in Israel I wish I had at my house the jawbone of that ass that Samson used to slay thousands I wish I could have heard God speaking at the Jordan when Jesus was baptized and the heavens open in a dove descended I wish I could have heard the voice of God said this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased I wish I would have been there at that wedding feast in Cana of Galilee when water blushed red into wine I wish I had a seat in the crowd when there was nowhere to buy any bread and that little boy had two fish and five loaves and Jesus took it and raised it up to heaven and when he brought it down he had more than when he brought it up and everybody had eaten and was satisfied I wish I could have seen them take up twelve baskets of fragments if I had a chance I would have been in the Garden of Gethsemane to see him sweat drops of blood and say father if it be possible let this cup pass from me but I wish I could have seen the resoluteness in his face when he said nevertheless not my will but thine be done but I wish more than anything my favorite place to be would be on the road to Emmaus when they were walking after the resurrection and Jesus joined them and started preaching to them about himself and they said did not our hearts burn with enough while the man of God spoke with us and open to us the scripture that's my favorite place to be but my second place to have been was when this woman went to the house of Matthew Koza because him Simon the leper she goes into this house and crashes the party I wish I had in my possession that alabaster box full of nard that she broke open and the smell was all over the place she washed his feet with her tears dried them with the hairs of her head and then anointed Jesus with that precious perfume I want you to get this I want to try to set up this scene for you this story is of such vital importance that it is mentioned by every gospel writer Matthew Mark Luke and John tell this story I believe it is because it is unrivaled as a classic situation comedy when you read the Bible don't leave your sense of humor outside because this is a classic situation comedy better than I Love Lucy better than The Beverly Hillbillies better than any situation comedy you will ever see on television is a Pharisee throwing a party I want you to get how oxymoronic that is a Pharisee throwing a party I don't want to go to a Pharisees party think about that a minute a religious Pharisee with the phylactery around his neck with a Talmud or or the Torah on the table get ready for a party a religious person throwing a party think about that a minute that's that's a situation comedy in the scripture but that when you really think about it is really funny a Pharisee throwing a party no DJ no spiked punch no party favors no dancing no wine no slow dragon no lights turn down load it has lame written all over it it's dank it's dark is boring and it says in no uncertain terms I'm out of here to you Pharisees in our midst this morning don't invite me to your house because I don't like people who can't laugh who can't have fun who are not excited about anything because I look at the way you act at church and that suggests to me what goes on at your house if you can't enjoy God you show can't have a good time with me and I think the reason why you can't enjoy God is because you think you ain't as bad as some of us in here this moment but those have also been forgiven of much we got so much to party about I wish I had a witness here to those of us in here who got some sins we shame to talk about to those of us in here who know if God had not saved us we would be lost and in hell this morning we are not gonna let you stop us from partying this woman testing hello one two this Pharisee invited Jesus to his house and they are reclining at the table in a house full of men and in walks this woman a sinner a prostitute and she walks up not to the host but to the guess which is a prett a grave breach of social decorum to come into somebody's house and not even grief it but she's not interested in the hose because she is that there's a guest present and she wants to get to it she is desperate and Jesus is in love with spiritual Desperados Jesus likes being around people who don't care nothing about tradition Jesus enjoys the company of people who don't care what anybody says about them or what anybody thinks about them jesus loves being with publicans and prostitutes sinners and out chants because they that are well don't need a physique and the doors of you in here who think you're pretty good you will never enjoy Church but those of us who know we ain't got no business being here we can't wait to get here and we don't want to leave I wish I had somebody here this morning who was desperate enough to help me testify if the Lord had not saved me I wish I had a crook in here this morning I wish I had a liar in here this morning I wish I had a whoremonger on adulterer somebody who ain't got no business being here I wish I had somebody who can help me thank God that he's stoop pick me up turn me around place my feet on solid run what I think I think what happened in the passage it happened so fast that the woman didn't expect for her tears to overflow because the scripture says she washed his feet with tears and dried them with a hand if she had known that she would have wet his feet she would have brought a town but was his sewing she was so overwhelmed I wish I had a witness where she got close to him she thought about how he touched her how he saved her how he looked at her and didn't want to have sex with her how only a look from Jesus can dignify a person and when she got close to him her tears started dropping like rain she couldn't help us her you know how it is you come to church on Sunday morning and you didn't intend to carry on that way somebody ought to help me here you didn't even bring our handkerchief because you didn't intend to cut up that way but then you started thinking about when you didn't have a thing in the world and God put food on your table somebody ought to help me here you started thinking about where nobody wanted to be around you and God picked you up and turned you around have a got a witness how God sanctified and forgave you and gave you a brand-new start you didn't intend for the tears to well up in your eyes but if you are really a Christian you can't think without think cuz when you think you gotta say thank you have a got a witness you didn't make it because you went to prayer review you didn't make it because your mom and dad have had money you didn't make it because you've been so holy you have made some mistakes you wish you didn't have to go back over I wish I had a witness here that's some decisions I wish I hadn't made that's some stuff I wish I could go back and undo but when I think about where he brought me from my response is always thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you and if you don't want to praise and get out of my way this woman this woman who care what Simon said that's that's a good sermon Simon see I might preach there one of these days Simon said she didn't care what Simon said in Matthew's Gospel Judas said we could have sold this and and given the money to the poor Jesus said the poor you have with you always somehow ought to help me here she didn't care what anybody thought about her public act of social decorum it didn't bother her that she was a woman she wanted desperately to get to Jesus and when you are desperate to get to Jesus you don't care what they say she gets to Jesus and she's so overwhelmed in his presence that she starts crying the tears just won't stop she can't stop crying because she can't stop blessing him she can't stop praising him she can't stop worshipping him her tears are connected to her past but IT is also connected to her future because Pharisees look at what she used to be but Jesus looks at what you can become Pharisees look at your mistakes but Jesus looks at your accomplishments Pharisees are always trying to make you live down to your reputation but Jesus tries to make you come up to what he wants you to be and she just can't stop crying the tears addressing his feet and because she didn't plan to cry that much she has nothing to dry his feet and she does another social act of indiscretion she does what no real Jewish woman no proper woman would ever do outside her husband's presence she lets her hair down which could have gotten her stone because proper women never let their hair down in public in Jewish tradition because the Talmud says it's like exposing your breasts that was an act of indecent exposure if she had a husband the talmud said her husband could have divorced her because she let her hair down in the presence of a man who was not her husband but worship when it is real is about letting your hair down it's about public indiscretion I wish I had a witness it's about getting your makeup all messed up it's about your hair out of place it's about giving God praise with your hands and with your body and which amaos everything that you brought to church ought to be used to give God prayer me Missy if I can help us with that when David found the Ark of the Covenant I needed two or three Bible reader here the Bible says he got so happy that he danced all out of his club and his wife Saul's daughter said you ought to be ashamed of yourself embarrassing yourself exposing yourself indecently before these young women you are luring yourself as the king of Israel David said you think I'm not going to fool man you think I'm dancing out of my clothes now wait till I get this choir together to follow me into Jerusalem and get that crowd ready in the temple to sing as I bring back the Ark of the Covenant you remember that song come on help me sing it lift up your head o ye gates and be lifted up ye everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come in come on help us sing this verse who is this King of glory the Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in the battle lift up your head and I want to tell somebody who don't feel like partying this morning lift up your head somebody who think your sins has gotten you where Jesus can't use you lift up your head somebody here was feeling bad because of your past lift up your head o ye gates and be lifted up you have a lasting doors and the king of gold shall come who is this king of gold I wish I had a witness he's a rock in a weary land he's a shelter in a time of storm he's a friend when you're friendless bread when you're hungry company when you buy yourself he's a battle-axe in a time of a battle anybody here I said anybody here ever had to call on the Lord to lift up your bow down ahead won't he do it what are you doing come on wash it encourage somebody why don't you grab somebody's standing or sitting next to you tell them lift up your head and the King of glory ciao goodbye mother paper hill I'm gonna get back to my little alabaster box that that alabaster box represented her past guilt in her future hope that alabaster box of perfume was pure nard a perennial herb that is found and harvested only in the Himalayan mountains it represented her professional identity as a prostitute and her financial security it was her most precious position it was at 1:00 in the same term an intimate expression of love and an extravagant expression of faith and when she couldn't stop crying and wiped his feet with a hair because worship is letting your head she took that box of expensive perfume now I want you to I want you to shout with me right here this is not that knockoff cheap stuff that you get on Harwin somebody ought to help me preach it this is not their cheap stuff that that that a Negro standing in front of the bank and it's got it in his pocket you know like like those are like those movies that they knockoff yeah yeah y'all know this this this ain't that this is a year's worth of wages this is her dowry this is the most prized expensive possession she has and she breaks it open now because it is the most expensive and not that knockoff all she had to do was put a dab in the right places and you could smell but she loved Jesus so much that she poured it Oh and I want to hurry this morning somebody here I got an alabaster box and you hold him back on your praise you gonna help me close this watching you you just shouting a little bit you just praising God a little bit you're just putting it in the right places cuz you don't want to get out of your comfort zone you don't want folk laughing at you you don't want folk talking about you you don't want folks saying every Sunday she can't do nothing can't hear nothing for her Ralph can't open his mouth pastor K preach unless he up.there Holling and Rayven his hand sit down I can't see you getting on my nerves that makes me sick I'm tired of you go sit somewhere else who love let the man read the scripture let the girl sing the song we can't hear nothing for you it don't take all that speak for yourself it don't take all that for you ah but you don't know you wasn't there have a got a witness in God God has forgiven me of so much I said God has forgiven me of so much I got so much I need to be ashamed of that I'm afraid if I start crying I won't stop have I got a witness here so that's why when I come to church I let my hair down the little bit of hair I got left I let my hair down and give God some praise because he's worth it to be praised I wish I had somebody to help me clothes he's worth it to be praised I said he's worthy to be praised I said he's worried that to be pretty and a woman was at the feet of Jesus which meant she had surrendered the woman watched Jesus feet with her tears dried them with a half which meant she gave God her best service but after she surrendered and gave God her service she broke open that alabaster box and gave God her sacrifice some of us are surrendered some of us don't mind serving but many of us I'm not giving over to sacrifice if the Lord has forgiven you of much now is the time this is the place to crash the party don't let these Pharisees intimidate you because they did some of the same stuff you did they got some of the same issues you got don't let these Pharisees make you sit down why don't you crash the party and stop praising God like you ain't got no sense stop praising God because you think about where he brought you from is there anybody here got a praise on your lips is there anybody here wanna join me in the sacrifice of praise why don't you lift your hands and tell God thank you for all you've done for me why don't you hug somebody tell them you don't know like I know what the law what the laws what the law has done for me he brought me from my mother long way he forgave me he sanctified me he filled me with his precious Holy Spirit and I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad God saved me why don't you shake somebody's hand telling me you don't know the price of my oil you don't know what my prayers cause you don't know where I came from you don't know what I've been through you don't know what I had to come through to get in this church this morning don't try to stop me Pharisee don't get in my way Pharisee I come to crash the party I come to crash the party I'm a shout if I got to do it by myself imma quailing if I gotta praise him by myself find you a praise pump find your party crusher find somebody with you who just as crazy as you are and right now prays alone prays alone prays alone prays alone prays alone praise and love ah room when when Simon the Pharisee saw what that woman had done he said to himself if he knew what kind of woman this was touching him he would put her out of here because she's a sinner he said it to himself and Jesus heard him he was talking to himself and Jesus heard him Pharisee he hears you talking about other people he hears you bringing up other people's sins and other people's past Jesus is silent really when you get home I've got something to say to you rather sarcastically he says master seong he said when I came in your house you gave me no water to wash my feet you didn't you didn't you didn't even have a basin ready to dry my feet you didn't even give me a customary kiss you didn't even greet me properly when I came in your home but this woman since I've been here she has not ceased to wash my feet with her tears we dry them with the hairs of her head and she has anointed me with this expensive perfume he said wherever the gospel is preached let this be a memorial for this woman's extravagant gift and my preaching this sermon this morning is a fulfillment of Jesus prophecy that all over the world when the gospel is preached this woman who broke open that alabaster box hunter the act of worship would be mentioned but now listen Jesus did not let that woman go thinking that her works had saved him because when you get to the end of the story Jesus said your faith has made you know and you can break open all the alabaster boxes you want if you don't have any faith it's impossible to please God for we must first believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him I am I got my alabaster box with me and I'm a party crasher and to you who don't want to praise Him get up you
