pier they drop a little Crab Pot down they think it's got a lot of dogs and the salinity is 100 wrong I call my boy this old Captain Mark Noble he's a guide right here in Shane Simon I said hey man I'm on my way from Florida to Nantucket see there's a lot of people when they come to the coast they really don't think about opportunity we have a recreational crabbing opportunity here for everyone six pots per person's simple Rag and you can go out and catch your own and well that's something we do with our Charters sometimes we do a crab and Char let them pull them up see what's around I mean this is my backyard this is where I live this is what I love we can share some recreational opportunities with you I mean a lot of people have gotten their own boats you what first time I met you you walked up and I said look I'll help you out because we find that if you're kind of people and you help people a lot of good will come from growing up here just has went well for me being a good fishing guide riding shotgun I hear you baby well this will be fun it uh they sure beats something on the couch that right there is a man hidden up here they call him a bunker Hoagies we're in Georgia the crabs love these they're they're fresh bait and they're full of oil the oil gets in the in the water column and that's in though you get crabs he knew I was coming so he came and set up these traps we're gonna pull them right now let's go yep that's right below here we go name it is all you have a lot of line on this sucker absolutely long line here in Georgia they have a monster tide and I'm going to show you something else like you can see like where that trap is holy cow back home it's oh my God I see crabs I see crabs right off the bat this keeps this closed they're all males look at the crabs are you kidding me like we just smashed them now I see why they're using so much bait you throw your bunker or pogi whatever you want in there holy mackerel now I understand before I didn't understand you ready for this to go back in the water they're 17 17 crabs in that one thing holy mackerel we want the trap to go like that in the the rebar will carry that down to the bottom and it will sit there even in high current I was just talking with him is using a minimum of 70 feet of this line reason is there's a lot of current oh my God crabs look at this look at that I have never in my life seen crabs like this we're gonna have one heck of a crab boil tonight I'm learning as I go here this is first class I've been catching Craig my whole entire life I've never seen crabs like this oh my god oh big old crab yep that one's gonna go back little things that he's doing like taking this the map the map that I'm sitting on where we put the crabs it all makes sense it didn't make sense at first it makes sense now look at this he's gotta have them all marked labeled and you gotta have plenty of rope we got them I could oh my God look at that I've never seen crap this ain't no funky business going on here there's there that this is only three traps do you bring people to do this yeah now please understand that crabbing is not the same year round okay there's 23 males in that 23 there's two dozen in that I'm a happy human being yeah look at that always make sure you shut this back I can't tell you and for those of you who are wondering I was just talking with Captain Mark this is called lettuce make sure you get that cleaned out and make sure you shut your trap back set it and forget it right here long make sure you're shut and off we go plenty of line and uh they say crap it does the body good that is a light crap you can feel him he's light when you look in the the sun he's light this is a dirty crap this one feels dense he feels uh solid the reason is he's been in this shell longer than the other crab that's another dirty one you can tell how dirty he is he's gonna be that 30 that's clean but uh we're gonna keep him anyway the truth of the matter is these crabs have what's called a exoskeleton that means they do not have bones they have a shell and as they fill it out they pop it off in a new shell grows underneath that's your back tip of the week folks these are heavy and uh remember in that in between process when them crabs come out of that one shell that's where the soft shell crap that's where so if you ever wonder about soft shell that's where it popped off the shell it's still soft and you keep it soft yeah and basically that crab will crawl out of it's the wildest thing to watch he just crawls out of his old Shell and at that moment within 10 or 15 minutes at the most that's when people take them and when everybody's saying well I want to eat a soft shell crab it's just a crab that's crawling into a new shell and he's just real soft before it gets into a paper type Shelf oh my gosh dump this out I can tell you one thing we're smashing them off it goes you have a lot of current coming in and going out so you use a long line and then you're using rebar rebar keeps it down and keeps it weighted so he uses his mat so when you pull the Trap up you're not getting a rebar on the gel coat because if you cut it you've got a big problem well if y'all are wondering how to get a hold of me it's pretty simple right here on sank Simon's Island you go to Saint Simons fishing center at Morningstar Marina last trap coming up I got crap stand forward about 410 four either one now this is very important you take the mat and lay it down and that's going to add weight then you add some ice to it and that's going to add more weight and keep these guys cold ice down and what that's going to do that's gonna slow them down they are cold-blooded animals or creatures now didn't you just a little while ago when we was in Coastal Kitchen text out that we're fixing to have a crab off I I think I said until the crabs are gone I figured we would catch 18. nine crabs two for trap we bought more than that hypothetically you get on there and you're sitting there doing all this typing you told people hey we're going to be at the Miranda come on by coming by the fishing center Saint Simons fishing center these crabs were still like out here cruising around then well do you think anybody knows about it we're gonna find out how many people we're gonna find out now I just pray to God somebody shows up well I'll be there you'll be there that's all that matters and you will be there [Music] thank you foreign like a glove hey sit down man he's supposed to be he's supposed to be at home on bed rest his knee is already right here we're gonna be running dogs with him shooting the deer ain't got a gator tag and a gator hunt oh my God this is deer burger probably old Nanny yeah yeah but people all the time they say hey why do you shoot so many deer so we can eat a lot you got these big old crab like that and you want them settled down and therefore I am I'm picking out the biggest ones good crabs holy mackerel just get right in there find yourself a seat you guys are gonna be good look at that Big Daddy what do you think think we're gonna be eating good or what I don't like rubs your dad likes crabs I guarantee you did you know that who's this who bought this guy you're so crazy man but but it's pretty good hey do you know you're in Georgia when there's seven people at the party and six of them are cooking he's eating yeah have you eaten more than you've cooked I'll check but I'm about to these chocolates around here like things spicy I just open it and my mouth is burning they said pour both of these in there that's way too much in my opinion but we'll see in there oh that one just jumped out once you have all your crabs in there pour this right on top and they said this would make a monkey hug a hound dog wait to find out our main goal is to get kids off the Xbox and Into The Tackle Box look off the Xbox and Into The Tackle Box it's the kids can fishing me and her are going to do a video
