The Lost Pokémon Mysteries Iceberg

Pokemon is filled with countless anomalies that have never been explained they range from small Mysteries to World altering questions that completely recontextualize their understanding of the Pokemon Universe in this video we will be going over some of these mysteries in the iceberg format the iceberg that inspired this video was made by the Reddit user Angel 12416. if you want to see the full list I linked their chart below because I was only able to include about one-fourth of the full iceberg in this video [Music] marvelous Bridge ghost girl in Pokemon Black and White there's a ghost girl NPC found on the marvelous bridge that disappears if you try to interact with her an old lady nearby tells us the girl used to play in the area with their pet Abra before the bridge was built we learn more about the potential cause of her death in the black and white sequels in the strange house we encounter her ghost again this time she actually speaks and talks about being trapped in an endless dark Dream It's heavily implied darker eye trapped her in an eternal nightmare that eventually led to her death since writings on the mythical Pokemon can be found in the library of the house but that isn't the only connection Cresselia is darker eyes counterpart and is associated with good dreams this girl wanted to meet Cresselia before she passed away which is why we initially meet her at The Marvelous Bridge the only place in Unova you can encounter Cresselia if you have the lunar Wing an item you find in the strange house we don't know how this girl encountered darker eye but we can assume the lunar Wing found in her house an item that can dispel nightmares with something brought there to cure her Butterfree 3 and venonat this idea comes from the physical similarities between venonat and Butterfree their purple coloring big red eyes and the fangs that poke out of their mouths LED people to believe these Pokemon were originally meant to be an evolutionary line that was later scrapped in favor of the ones we have today Hunter J died in the Diamond and Pearl anime a Pokemon hunter named Jay was hired by Team Galactic to capture the light Guardians just before yooxy and Mesprit were captured they managed to use future sight a powerful attack with a delayed strike once Hunter J started to fly away in her ship she was struck by these attacks causing her to crash into a whirlpool in Lake Valor where the ship was flooded with water and eventually exploded as it sunk to the depths killing everyone inside of course these deaths were never confirmed but come on they're dead officially giving masqueria and uxi a kill count of around 6 humans in the dozens of stolen Pokemon on the ship Pokemon Z while never flat out confirmed we can guess that somewhere along the way a Pokemon Z game was planned to follow up X and Y we don't know what this game would have been like but we can assume it would have revealed the various forms Zygarde takes in Sun and Moon who kind of feels out of place at gen 7 due to the Recycled nature of his involvement hopefully if we get a Legend's Kalos one day they make it the Pokemon Z we never got who created the second Mewtwo in the 16th Pokemon movie we were introduced to a second Mewtwo that was created by an unknown group of scientists the original Mewtwo was created with the purpose that varies from the games to the anime but the reason for this one's creation and how it could mega evolve without its stone is unknown to this day I was pretty disappointed by the introduction of this second Mewtwo it would have hit a lot harder if they used the original Mewtwo for Mega Evolution's debut in the Pokemon anime but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day because hey we got shiny Genesect Zygarde and alola a real world explanation for zygarde's inclusion in Sun and Moon is probably the canned Pokemon Z I mentioned earlier but there's never really been an explicit explanation for zygarde's involvement in game since it's the guardian of the ecosystem we can assume it's there to deal with the invasive Ultra beasts but they've been showing up in alola for thousands of years if some Pokedex entries are to be believed so does that mean zygarde's always been around who knows maybe there are several zygardes acting as planetary janitors cleaning up any pesky extra dimensional beings Corp fish aren't from Hoenn while technically a hoe in Pokemon now Port fish are an invasive species that were originally imported to the region as pets from an unknown land that quickly adapted to the environment due to their hearty nature resulting in a population explosion we don't know where they're from but it's probably not any region based on Louisiana since they were imported as pets and not food magnazones Transmissions magazine receives signals from an unknown source in space we know aliens exist in the Pokemon Universe so the question with this entry is who's contacting magazine and what do they want fungus or the ball Nobody Knows Why fungus's head looks like a Pokeball some theorize the creator of the modern Pokeball really liked this Pokemon and used as design inspiration this has never been proven though so it raises the age-old question which came first the fungus or the ball alder's ancestor the ancient hero of Sinnoh depicted in paintings in both Diamond and Pearl Clan settlements is definitely related to Alder from black and white it's unknown when alder's family made their way towards Unova but this is just another reason to love Legends details like this make the Pokemon world feel more connected but this does bring up a question in a game where humans are being sucked into the past some that even come from the Unova region could this be an older altar that was sent even farther into the past the Ultimate Weapon created a new timeline AZ firing the Ultimate Weapon created Mega Evolution and potentially a completely new timeline commonly referred to as the mega timeline the true reason for this time split is unknown but it probably has something to do with infinity energy thus celestica disappearance the celestica people who Volo and kogita come from are completely missing when we play Legends Arceus the ruins around Hisui are the only remains of their existence in the land it's unknown where they are or why they left but they they have to be somewhere if Volo a relatively young person is still running around they could potentially be in senjo a place the author of the old verses is aware of who is also implied to be a member of the celestica people since they worship Arceus as their Almighty Sinnoh man-made Pokemon several Pokemon were created by human beings it's unknown what causes these creatures to come to life or what separates a robot like majirna from an AI like the professors in Scarlet in Violet Parasect is a zombie with the recent release of The Last of Us TV adaptation I think it's only fair we talk about the original fungus zombie its pokedex entry reveals it's a Walking Corpse that's been taken over by the mushroom on its back the question here is could this mushroom take over other Pokemon if they do would it still be a Parasect would it be a regional variant these are the questions that keep me up at night Mega Flygon kensuyimori revealed Flygon was originally meant to receive its own Mega Evolution in Gen 6 that was scrapped into his artist block I respect the fact he didn't force this design but as a Flygon enjoyer I would have taken something over nothing even if the something wasn't that good pokerus pokerus is a contagious infection of microscopic organisms that doubles the EVS of Pokemon gains through battling think of it like beneficial crabs in your Pokemon summary screen it appears as a special status condition with the same name the infection goes away after a few in-game days pass and the origins of these microscopic creatures are unknown they were not included in scarlet and violet due to kova 19 which is kind of silly I don't think people would see this Pokemon virus that's been around for 20 years and get offended but then again I'm not a PR expert I'm just someone who hates EV training Indian and Chinese regions many Pokemon originate from regions that aren't the ones they were introduced in like Corp fish but some Pokemon come from places that directly parallel real-life countries the first of which is an india-based region the Pokemon kaparaja comes from for decades raichi's pokedex entry stated it has the ability to knock out an Indian Elephant when anger and Legend since Arceus the Indian elephant was swapped with copper Raja whose name comes from the Indian title Maharaja which means great king we have no info on this Indian region but if you want to see what a hypothetical one could look like a YouTuber I love named Prague magic is currently working on a series that goes over just that next we have the china-based region we don't have any examples of Pokemon that come from this region but the treasures of Ruin quartet were once artifacts that originated from this Eastern land the legendary's names are also all romanized versions of Mandarin Chinese Pokemon tournament and Coliseum connections pokken tournament and the 3D GameCube titles are implied to be connected somehow Pokemon Colosseum and XD take place in the ore region a name derived from the word or which makes sense since all the major locations in the game are named after minerals poker and tournament takes place in the Ferrum region and pherom is Latin for iron both games also share the phenomenon of Shadow Pokemon that grants existing legendaries new awesome and edgy forms the connect action between these two games has never been outright confirmed but for me this is enough to know their link somehow Eternal flower floette while never officially confirmed the Eternal flower floette was going to be an event Pokemon at some point it has fully modeled battle and menu Sprites it has its own signature move called light of Ruin and it's got unique stats compared to base floette we don't know why it never saw the light of day but I've always thought it was another scrapped element of Pokemon Z it's a Shameless form of floette will probably never get an official distribution since it's one of the cooler aspects of X and y's lore data mind Jinx cry data miners found an alternate Jinx Battle Cry within the code of Pokemon home this version has more Reverb behind it similar to a Mega Evolution we never learned anything about this potential form and honestly I don't really mind that much I've never been a fan of her design silver is Ash's father all we know about Ash ketchum's father is that he's a Pokemon trainer currently on his own Journey exploring the world but what if I told you we may have already met his father and the Pokemon anime we meet a character named silver this man looks like ash also saw a fire flying legendary in its Youth and has the starter Pokemon that he carries around on his shoulder silver also knew who Ash was when he was brought up to him even though they never interacted in the show this led people to get to see since the concept of an omniscient God is kind of hard to convey in Pokemon form but hey I thought the Llama did a pretty good job sinjo the sinjo ruins are the remains of an ancient Temple that was constructed by various Clans made up of people from Sino and Johto it's unknown what brought these people together but we could speculate it was built out of their worship for Arceus this idea is supported by the author of the old verses someone who worships Arceus as their Almighty Sinnoh mentioning sinjo by name Paradox Pokemon never existed while Sada and Cheryl claim to have built a time machine to bring ancient and futuristic Pokemon to the present there's tons of info in game that contradicts this claim and suggests they were actually pulled from the professor's imaginations every Paradox Pokemon existed prior to the construction of the machine as palde encrypted written about in a popular magazine called a culture other than the paradox Cycles are forms who come from the most popular Pokemon in palzia along with walking wake and iron leaves two Pokemon who were documented in The Scarlet and violet books respectively another important piece of palden culture the idea here is this machine isn't bringing Pokemon from other time periods it's pulling them from the minds of the professors who were confirmed fans of the occulture magazine and then it brought Pokemon who were collectively imagined by the paldian people with walking awake and iron leaves Pokemon that only started appearing after the professor's death trapagos has already demonstrated it has the ability to invade the minds of humans through its encounter with Heath and we also have examples of it manipulating reality with drasticization the machine itself Powers up to rapagos causing its crystals to overgrow in an alarming rate using its mind manipulation reality manipulation and enhanced power it turns these fictional Pokemon into real living creatures the godstone the godstone is an unused key item found in the code of Pokemon Black and White the only thing we know about it is that it's a very rare Stone but looking at its design it was most likely meant to be kyurem's version of the dark in light zones humans and Ghost Pokemon multiple Ghost Pokemon were humans that died in a variety of ways the concept of death in the Pokemon Universe is very confusing there is an implied afterlife that some Souls of the Dead go to along with the purgatory-like state the ghost trapped on earth have to deal with this raises the question is becoming a Pokemon something that can be reduced to what is essentially a pet a form of punishment for those who live bad lives this can be countered by the fact some Pokemon like Phantom are born of The Souls of dead children who couldn't have possibly lived a life that deserves this kind of punishment do they remember their human lives at all is Arceus a cruel and unforgiving deity am I over analyzing this these are all valid questions rainbow rocket getsis killed his end the fact gets this one in this alternate universe version of black and white and took possession of the unovan Box Legends implied that n who should have them is dead Dynamax Cali Rex calyrex is the only Pokemon in all of sword and shield to have a unique color in its Dynamax State it's never explained why this Pokemon has a blue aura instead of the traditional red one and it probably never will clay doll inspired celestila clay doll is a clay doll that came to life the way many inanimate objects become Pokemon in this series and Ultra sun and Ultra Moon it suggested the people who sculpted these dolls thousands of years ago basically designed on celestila its Ultraman pokedex entry States the ancient people who made it apparently modeled it after something that descended from the sky comparing their designs they both have round levitating bodies with two stubby legs a pointed head they're both Pokemon Moon exclusives but to be more specific celestila can be found in the Hana desert and an ultra Moon Baltoy is exclusively found in the same location the idea here is at some point in the past a group of ancient humans saw Celestia descend from the sky out of an ultra Wormhole and built Idols in its likeness as a sign of worship or baby they just liked how it looked I guess the mystery here is how they survived this encounter since half of celestila's Pokedex entries talk about how dangerous it is miyamoto's fate Miyamoto is Jesse's mother and an old member of Team Rocket she was the first person to record physical evidence of mew's existence this Milestone was the reason the previous Team Rocket boss assigned her the mission of catching Mew herself during this journey she got lost in a snowstorm that came to a complete halt when Mew revealed itself to her she pleaded with Mew to let her capture it but it didn't work and it left as soon as it appeared and was it gone the snowstorm returned the Blizzard's return was followed by an avalanche that swept her away with the last documentation of her voice being a scream of Terror after this everyone assumed she was dead but this idea would be contradicted by the reports she sent into Team Rocket in the years after this encounter this begs the question is she alive and still hunting from you or is she dead sending these reports as a ghost something this Series has plenty of if she's alive it makes you wonder why she wouldn't check in on Jesse she she was heartbroken when she had to leave her daughter to complete her mission to the point she carried a picture of her at all times this is why I personally think she's dead and sending these Transmissions to Team Rocket as a spirit with unfinished business mysterious transmissions in the ruins of Alf in the ruins of Alf and Johto if you use your poking gear and tune it to channel 13.5 you'll hear bizarre Transmissions these come in the form of strange cries that could be unknowns communicating with each other but there's also warped battle crys of the Johto box Legends and the sound of the azer flute the connection to the legendaries could have something to do with unknown's reality bending abilities and their connection to the creation Trio but there's never been a direct answer ancient paldean civilization during Heat's Expedition into area zero he found placement out of an unknown alloy with unknown symbols carved into them later on they found these massive symbols carved into the ground of a cave within the crater keep in mind Heath's team was the first documented case of humanity going this deep into area zero so these anomalies could be an ancient human civilization that predates the Palestinian Empire Abyssal Ruins in Unova there's a sunken Temple in the andela bay that acts as the resting place of an ancient unovan King it's widely believed this king is an ancestor of Ang since his name is heavily implied to be harmonia writing this out I realize how many of these entries are based on implications but hey that's the nature of the mystery this would explain why Team Plasma has a king in the first place I really hope we get some elaboration on this if there's ever a Legends game set in Unova it would also give us a chance to see the original dragon in the flesh gallerian legendary birds the gallerian forms of the legendary bird seem to be Regional variants of other Pokedex entries imply there are different species altogether that's why this Pokemon is called Zapdos inspired the name Moltres known as Articuno other Regional variants Pokedex entries clearly state they're the same species that took on new forms due to their environment for example Galleria and stunfist exist because it lives in mud rich with iron galarian wheezing took on this form during Galler's Industrial Revolution giving it a body that could convert pollution into clean air and galerian Meowth took on this form because they lived with Vikings that toughened them up these are the same species with documented histories telling us how they took on these forms the galerian birds suggest they're not the same species instead they're bird-like legendaries with similar physical characteristics that were given existing Pokemon's names for convenience it's unknown why these Pokedex entries are so vague but this led some people to question if they're the first convergent Pokemon to be introduced in the series bolo's relation to kogita kogita and bolo are both Cynthia's ancestors but their relation to each other is never confirmed and the dialogue suggests a lack of familiarity even though we know they've talked enough for kogita to blame herself for creating the monster of all who became kogita is Immortal kogita was the most mysterious figure to be introduced in Legends Arceus if we try to unravel the Mysteries around her it leads to some strong evidence she's Immortal around Hisui you could find 20 ancient poems called the old verses it's heavily suggested that these were written by kogita herself the author has the same esoteric knowledge of the higher beings in the Pokemon Universe and worships Arceus as their Almighty Sinnoh the author describes a friendship with enamorous and most importantly the author describes an eternal mission thereon that involves us showing up in Hisui this directly mirrors kogita when she tells us her Duty can finally be fulfilled with our arrival this is where her immortality comes in the author of these verses describes being Immortal in the pain that comes with it in the second verse she describes watching all of her loved ones die while she's trapped in the living room wishing she could join them in death and as the years passed she even started to forget what their faces looked like it's super sad and explains why kogazo wears clothing that would be appropriate at a funeral representing her Eternal grief over her lost loved ones and it also explains the emotional distance she keeps between herself and Volo along with the physical distance she keeps from the rest of asui it's probably something she picked up as a defense mechanism over time she doesn't let herself get too close to the new people since she knows they'll die eventually this lack of closeness was what inadvertently a lot followed the spiral into the monster he became without her knowledge walking wake and iron leaves fusions in The Scarlet and violet books we can see versions of walking wake and iron leaves fused with the other members of their trios we don't know if we'll see the rest of them or how we'll fuse them but these questions will probably be answered in the DLC I just hope the other swords of justice Paradox forms don't suck unknown and Arceus Arceus and unknown have a connection to one another that's never been explained if you go to of the ruins of Alf Research Center with Arceus in your party an event is triggered that teleports you to the sinjo ruins in these ruins you could find an altar that allows you to bring one of the three creation dragons into existence when this ritual starts a swarm of unknown appears Arceus is said to have created the universe with his a thousand arms lots of people believe that these arms were actually unknown since they have reality manipulating Powers but there's more to this in the 10th Pokemon movie Dialga and Palkia engage in a massive battle where unknown can be seen getting scattered about in the explosions caused by their Clash if we think of unknown as the code that holds reality together it would make sense that these beings that personify the concepts of time and space could undo the fabric of reality just by exchanging blows the true connection between the two will never be explained since they have the perfect
