The L sound| American English Pronunciation

hi welcome back to my channel and today we'll talk about the sound L and how it can help you lose your accent if that's what you want to do let's begin there are two types of L sounds the light L and the dark L we'll talk about both of them today the first one the light L is L that you probably know already how to pronounce is the alt that you make when you touch the palate with your tongue left look but how can you make it so you sound more American or less by question for example in Russia we have strong Al and weak al and lift let's examine this weak and strong L my name is Lisa and I have soft weak L in my name it's not Lissa it's Lisa people in America have the name Liz Elizabeth but they don't pronounce it with weak out because they don't have to weak out and they say Liz Elizabeth Lizzie Lisa it's stronger it's basically never weak so you can practice my name to feel the difference a lot of people struggle with making a long L and they make it really fast look but we need to try and practice very good strong L it's very similar to the way we practiced our sound in my video about our sound there's a link you can watch it if you haven't so you just have to hold it Oh make it strong long nice loud sound like clean love allow lost loser lap film fly you see this is life l but it's very strong we cleaned the lodge for a long time nobody likes to lose the dark L however is more complicated sound because it's not exactly L it's more of a vowel that happens before L light L is usually in the beginning or in the first part of the word but dark L is usually at the end of a word or at the end of a syllable I hope you know what syllable it is so let's hear it all people so my tongue is is turned a little bit back it isn't touching the palate it's just turned back call well you probably don't see it because I don't open my mouth that much but when I make this L I don't touch the palate there is no email it's email so I kind of stop before I make the L and I really searched out the vowel that is before L all people all people see the difference I hope you can see it in here so you don't have to do the dark L but if you really want to you can practice by again stretch in the word so let's take some words with the to have the dark L and stretch it out and feel this vowel that makes this L so weird it's all fall mall crawl well help email I will call you all little children got a golden medal that old school is behind a tall wall now try doing it with touching the palate and without touching a palate call call can you do that all sound if you can perfect practice simple sentences or just don't do it just pronounce a regular light l if that's is easier for you but if you practice any of those things they will help you reduce your accent because they give you a very specific sound that is clear that's it for today if you have any questions about reducing your accent or you want me to make any specific videos let me know in the comment section down below thank you very much for watching subscribe to my channel if you're not a subscriber yet if you want to support what I do there is a link to my PayPal account in the description where you can do that and that's it I'll see you in my next video bye
