I was surprised at the production quality and cinematography. It was shot in a very Jacksonian style as well which made it fit in the LOTR series quite nicely. The writing, acting and dialogue was damn decent too. Overall it's really good especially considering the budget disparity between this and LOTR. Is it a part of the Tolkien lore that really needed to be told? Not really. But it was an enjoyable watch for a fan none the less.
