Finally Metroid getting Nintendo's attention as it deserves. Hope that Dread is the new beginning for this franchise and get more games in the near future.
It was about time in my opinion. I guess Dread must been above and beyond what they expected, and truth to be told it is way more than anyone expected. Hope we continue to get top quality Metroid stuff for a while now.
This video reminds me a lot of what Capcom did when Mega Man 11 was announced, where they made a video like this going over the history of the Mega Man franchise. My only complaint is that they didn't go over Zero Mission and Samus Returns, but I guess that makes sense because those are remakes. Still, this was a great video. With Dread bringing all kinds of attention to the franchise, it's nice to see Nintendo push Metroid at the forefront.
Yeah, Dread has seen a huge amount of advertising for it and I'm guessing it's partially because they have nothing else to talk about now. Don't get me wrong, I love that Metroid is seeing a lot of news, but this much hype for a game that isn't one of their main series (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash) is very unusual.
I really hope that Dread is for the Metroid franchise what Fire Emblem Awakening was for the Fire Emblem franchise. Awakening pretty much made Nintendo treat Fire Emblem as one of their big franchises even though the franchise was dying before awakening (which was originally planned to be the final fire emblem game).
Well, you see, Dread made money, and lots of it.
Is that a new 8-bit drawing of the Zero Mission ship in the thumbnail, or have we seen it before?

What's crazy to me is that this trailer was on the Nintendo UK channel for a good while, but it took Nintendo's main YouTube channel weeks to think "Wow, maybe this trailer is good enough for the Yanks"
