hello everyone i hope you're having a great day today i'm doing something a bit different if you're really into games speed running creepypastas or cryptic conspiracies you may have seen the mario 64 iceberg video in your recommended recently basically it's the iceberg meme that you may recognize from memes past you know the top level is surface knowledge you know a basic player will probably know something about these topics and the further down you go you are getting into more under known and obscure facts tidbits and fan theories uh seeing this video and these iceberg memes sort of pop off in the past couple weeks inspired me to dig deeper into one of my favorite childhood games halo 3. i sent countless hours into that game wandering around multiplayer maps alone clearing out the campaign levels and then exploring building fun creative maps and forge collecting all the skulls and eventually beating the game on legendary to view the secret ending i wanted to create my own iceberg and explain some more quirky and interesting aspects of one of my childhood favorite games before we hop right into halo 3 though i'd like to add to the sm64 iceberg discussion because after doing some digging on my own i came to the shocking conclusion that i don't think that yoshi is in sm64 i think his inclusion was all sort of a fever dream delusion that we all had as kids that was similar to the mandela effect this is part of the variable experimental coding that was used in old games to create experiences that are completely unique from disk to disk cartridge to cartridge or player to player the yoshi code originated sort of like the wario apparition and was willed into existence and given power by many players being disappointed that luigi was not in the game nintendo knowingly programmed this into their game alongside with this dynamic and variable coding to determine which players would need a cameo from yoshi as sort of a coping mechanism for luigi or other iconic playable characters not appearing in the game whereas the wario illusion seems to be a line of vengeful code almost sentient demonic that's powered by you know simply a passive spirit helping to quell disappointed fans but with that being said do not attempt to draw out the wario illusion no matter what you do do not think about or try to will into existence the wario apparition but i do highly recommend watching this video if you wish to go further down the rabbit hole regarding this topic and i'm going to have a pop-up screen in three two one ding check out that video and if that doesn't set the tone for what is to come i don't know what will i'd also like to thank mishkaws hey it's steffi kush and conker for inspiring this video mish came out with the original mario 64 iceberg video and steffy kush uh sort of expanded on some of the topics that were lesser known and and sort of dives into the iceberg itself the wario apparition mk ultra64 etc and conker did a video uh similar to this on the iceberg four spongebob battle for bikini bottom so go check those guys out they're definitely worth a watch and they're definitely better than my terrible channel enjoy the video level one the surface peeing brute starting off right on the surface of the iceberg we have the pissing brute and the level of the ark there's a brute about 80 of the way through the level it looks like he's urinating on the floor however due to there not being a stream of urine and the rather eccentric motions many community members believe this brute to be masturbating but that is up to you to decide secret grunt on the final level halo right before the final jump into the frigate and the end of the game there's a grunt standing on a precipice hidden off the beaten path this grunt begs for you to save him and has some fun somewhat insulting and unique dialogue that you cannot be found anywhere else in the game what i find most interesting is that in order to enjoy this easter egg you have to break off the beaten path literally 100 yards away from the end of the game just to hear some unique dialogue from a fodder enemy that you've killed droves of since the first mission a lot of people know about this which is why it's sitting right at the surface level skulls halo's major collectible is the skull they're surprisingly well hidden in most levels and require some creativity to collect these unique collectibles encourage me as a younger lad to explore literally every nook and cranny within each mission and even explore all the multiplayer maps by myself about 75 of the skulls in halo 3 add stipulations that enhance gameplay mechanics such as you have to melee enemies to regain shields enemies drop much less ammo your hud is disabled etc the other 25 of the skulls add benign effects such as grunt birthday party where when you headshot a grunt it bursts into confetti and says yay terminals and jason jones if you played through halo 3 in its prime and explored some of the more open levels such as the ark and the covenant you may have stumbled upon these hidden terminals as a kid i was only concerned with finding all of them so i could unlock the marathon man achievement but the story of the terminals goes deeper than you might know these terminals tell a story of the war between the forerunners and the flood these include transcripts from the forerunners attempting to find a way to destroy the flood for good and win the war they include tactics strategies and security measures to ensure that the flood is completely eradicated one contingency plan pitched in these terminals is to consider an entire planet compromised if there is even a single flood spore present a forerunner actually considered glassing an entire planet just for one flood spore that is that is how dangerous the flood are uh in this game and in this game series deeper still there's a secret terminal in the level high charity which is known as the cortana terminal and is not required to get the marathon man achievement it also does not look like the other terminals so it is easily missed this terminal retells some story beats from the halo novel fall of reach where dr halsey creates cortana and admits john into the spartan 2 program this terminal refers to john's inherent luck which is a running trait throughout the series john spartan sierra 117 for one reason or another is incredibly lucky and we learned that in this terminal the last aspect of the terminals used to be a mystery to players everywhere but bungie later came out to clarify why it is in the game and even made an achievement for discovering this in the master chief collection hidden in the chamber of the last terminal is an area only accessible by a well-timed grenade jump and within that area there's an uncanny 2d model of a man with no shirt bobbing up and down this was a secret hidden by one of the developers and baffled many halo fans for years on why it was there and what the deeper meaning it might have turns out jason jones put this image of himself in the game and the achievement heading to his destiny is unlocked by finding this very same image in the version of halo 3 within the master chief collection since bungie has an achievement for this and is now widely known it has floated from the depths of the iceberg all the way to the top it was the coin's fault i wanted to make you strong keep you safe i'm sorry i can't ugly hammer launching halo 3 has a strange physics engine much like ballista propelling and doom eternal using the gravity hammer's primary attack sends the player backwards players and speedrunners alike have begun to abuse this quirk by launching themselves off of objects using the hammer certain objects like gun safes and deployable covers can be glitched inside the player and when paired with a gravity hammer can be used to fly across the map at great speeds one of the most common hammer launches is in crow's nest where you can fly across the ravine when you first regroup with the arbiter skipping about three minutes of walking pretty interesting quirk but this is also widely known the boat for many players the beached boat in the storm was the center of many questions and conspiracies there's no other model like it in the game and its location precariously perched over the side of a cliff left players myself included wondering if there was more to this strange boat it was theorized that there is a way to knock the boat over in some sort of easter egg fashion and get rewarded with the scarab gun or a hunter plasma cannon similar to an easter egg and halo 2. neither of these are true though there are only two quirks to the ship one is that when viewed from behind the bottom portion of the ship oddly resembles master chief's helmet the other quirk is aboard the ship which you can access with the glitch that we'll cover later on or with some theater mode cheese the interior of the ship is mostly barren but for no reason entirely there's a poster from circa 1700s depicting someone in old colonial garb its inclusion is still unknown to this day date specific messages valhalla perhaps the most widely known easter egg of halo 3 are the writings on the wall on the multiplayer map of valhalla there's a massive wall on one side of the map and on certain holidays you can find some inscriptions these holidays are new year's day earth day cinco de mayo 4th of july bungie day which is july 7th because bungie is obsessed with sevens halloween veterans day and christmas and i'll have all of these pictures up on screen for you so if you happen to be just listening and not watching uh [ __ ] watch the video it's why it's called a video cavemen there are many cavemen that can be found on the first mission of the game sierra 117 these strange monkeys are related to achievements in the master chief collection but baffled players in halo 3 on their inclusion for years there are three specific instances of where you can see these weird monkey cave people hiding behind rocks they're invincible you can shoot them and blood will come out but nothing will happen throw grenades and they won't ragdoll one of them is even holding a teddy bear their inclusion is still strange and not necessarily explained by the developers but it is widely known so it does sit on the top of the iceberg level two below the surface date specific messages long shore moving deeper down the iceberg we have date specific messages from the multiplayer map longshore more obscurely the dlc map long shore also included a themed menu board and small markings on a wall which changes based on the same holidays that we just mentioned as well so take a look at these this is probably some stuff that you have literally never seen before from halo as many players did not get the dlc maps or didn't even recognize that the markings on the wall or the menu board was changing a very interesting stuff and uh has flown under the radar which is why it ends up in level 2 here iwh byd there is one skull in the game that without a doubt has the most cryptic stipulations to acquire at the end of the covenant you enter a long corridor with a long line of rings you must jump through them in this order four six five four five three four after which you can grab the iwh byd skull or the i would have been your daddy skull this makes rare voice lines common and common voice lines rare this was the last skull to be discovered in halo 3 and some believe that hackers looked into the source code in order to unlock it but others believe that this skull strengthens a theory regarding personalized copies of halo 3 and that there is an adaptive code that tipped off the player on which order to jump through the rings this personalized copy theory argues that the game itself determines your play style and changes the game to better fit that style in regards to the skulls it is believed that the skulls will project some sort of tip to the player like there may be writing on the wall and blood or something that says you know get up here to get the skull on the storm for example which is perched in a pretty difficult to reach location on the roof of a building about halfway through the mission and if you find any of the skulls during your first play through whichever skull you find first the rest of the skulls afterwards will have these sort of tips for you to sort of help you continue to collect and continue to feel that gratification from finding a secret which means that the locations of these skulls were telegraphed for some players and completely absent for others in the current version that the community agrees on that we call the original code there are no hints or tips on which order you need to jump through these rings and no hints on where other skulls are located but we'll go deeper on that as we dive further into the depths of the iceberg support warthog there are only three drivable troop transport warthogs in halo 3's campaign they're on salvo highway the storm and the covenant there's a fourth on the multiplayer map the pit which is only accessible by using a gravity lift to fly it and bounce and even then only the host of the game can drive it which is a odd quirk the warthog is an iconic staple of the halo franchise the most common warthog type fits three troops the driver a passenger and a gunner however there are different types of warthogs the strangest one by far in my opinion is the troop transport ward hog this warthog can seat up to 10 people however chief arbiter and the playable co-op elites cannot sit in the back they can only sit in the driver and passenger seat what makes this an obscure vehicle and deserving a spot on the iceberg is that it can only be seen in three levels all of which you kind of have to go out of your way to drive yourself the first is hidden at the very beginning of salvo highway there's a warthog with a turret right in front of you but one of the occupied parking spaces contains a troop transport hog you can take this one all the way to the end of savo highway if you wanted to the second one is on the storm you can commandeer this hog right at the beginning of the level and it can stick with you until you complete the scarab fight and are forced to continue on foot this is the best support hog in the game because you can load up your marines with some serious firepower throughout the level then decimate the scarab and its reinforcements with a warthog full of marines carrying bottomless rocket launchers and fuel rod cannons great stuff the last mission where this warthog appears is on the covenant on your way to the first tower there's a completely undamaged troop warthog flipped upside down you can use this hog briefly until you have to take to the skies to disable the third tower also the marine that drops off a warthog for you to drive back to the beach and pick up a hornet will sometimes show up in a troop transport hog green phantom while on the topic of unique vehicles there are two green phantoms that can only be seen briefly in the mission the covenant uh in game the these green phantoms do appear in the cut scenes but this is specifically in game during the campaign missions you can only see them one time after destroying the aaa wraiths guarding the airspace of the third tower two phantom drop ships will drop off friendly elites to assist you in taking over the third tower these are the only phantoms in the game that are green what's even more strange is that you can completely skip destroying the aa wraiths and go directly to the third tower thus missing the opportunity to see this unique colored phantom it's as if completing this optional objective rewards the player with not only elite reinforcements but also the chance to see a vehicle that is unique to this campaign level alone there is also a green phantom that drops off the arbiter at the end of the level but this is easily missed as it only appears briefly drops off the arbiter and then promptly leaves there's not a lot of time to get a good look at this phantom but while the elites are being dropped off you have a chance to even hop into the phantom itself and ride into the death barrier if you wanted to butterflying butterflying is a speed running technique with a few uses aside from niche instances that save time butterflying is the act of meleeing an enemy when your reticle is red which causes chief arbiter whoever you're playing as to lunge toward the enemy with a melee animation but you can cancel that animation with a reload players can repeatedly cancel this melee over and over to keep lunging towards an enemy the best use of this is at the end of the mission crow's nest when a swarm of drones are flying away to escape the impending explosion of the facility players can butterfly down the entire hallway skipping a significant amount of time red versus blue often overlooked there's a red versus blue easter egg hidden within crow's nest before the inciting incident chief passes by an area with a marine banging on a locked door if you stand there for long enough different dialogue plays based on which difficulty you're playing on many people know of this easter egg but what they don't know is that the voices of these marines are characters from the at the time incredibly groundbreaking and popular internet show red vs blue and the creators of red vs blue are also credited with writing the lines that they deliver diving down the rabbit hole of red versus blue would tell you that it was once a popular youtube show that took place within the halo universe the titular characters were either a member of the reds or the blues as they fought to secure the other team's flag the show started in halo combat evolved and was carried over to halo 2 3 4 and now halo 5. this easter egg is bungee acknowledging the series and commending their talents and success that came from that creativity the show is still ongoing with a seasoned plan to release by the end of 2020 but we'll see if that comes to fruition or not it also happens to be on netflix so check it out if you want some deep nostalgia from the early days of halo and some very poor audio quality it's differently uh try again no i mean i forgot the password okay see you you got it wrong again see you said the same thing as last time i'm being serious i don't know the password no no see you changed the first part see that that part was the right part see now you got the whole thing wrong no i forgot what the password is and i just need you to open the door all right come on bad guy you're just guessing driving the aaa wraith typically when the driver of an aa wraith is killed the vehicle is immediately compromised and explodes regardless of its current health however if a player positions themselves on top of an aa wraith where they are not given the prompt to board the vehicle you can kill the driver and enter the wraith within one frame before the game deems it compromised the aiming reticle for the aa wraith can not be found anywhere else in the game as considered by many to be a placeholder reticle strangely enough the weapons boost and driving capabilities are fully functional despite the fact that players were never supposed to have access to this vehicle the fire rate is also uncapped for this reason so you can spam a barrage of aa wraith shots faster than any brute could ever dream of infinite spartan laser there's an exploit on the final mission of halo 3 that allows the player to get a spartan laser with infinite ammo once you make it to the top of the control tower johnson gives the player covering fire with his spartan laser if you run up and meet him on the cliffs you can exploit him and steal his infinite laser to do this you must kill johnson and have his body fall all the way off the cliff side once he returns to the top of the cliff he will take whatever weapon you dropped in exchange for his low ammo spartan laser once you kill him again he will spawn in with another laser kill him for a third time and the laser he drops will have infinite ammo secret skull on cortana at the end of cortana before freeing cortana of her prison and escaping high charity there's a room with a handful of generators that you must destroy to progress before doing so you can grenade jump onto a ledge and find an interactable skull the skull was supposed to be the assassin skull but was later scrapped and left in the final product for whatever reason if you escape by charity with this skull in hand you will start the final level with a spartan laser this is the only skull in the game that does not unlock any multipliers within the campaign and is not even listed on the skull physics oddities halo 3 has an interesting physics engine that many players have found ways to exploit we went over this briefly earlier explaining how hammer launching and explosive boosting works but deeper still there are just some oddities within the physics engine of halo 3. for example did you know that there is a secret vehicle in halo 3 that is only accessible with two players and exploiting this physics engine that's right and this vehicle has been sitting in the corner of many campaign maps since its launch it's a dumpster if you manage to flip a dumpster over and squeeze yourself in a co-op partner inside many well-timed dumps will get you and the arbiter airborne and with some practice you can even steer your new flying dumpster this is how players have managed to get onto the boat without exploiting the free cam and theater mode they have simply flipped over a dumpster and multi-jumped their way into the sky and onto the boat a very strange very interesting and very unknown secret marine there is a particular quirk with choppers and ghosts and halo 3. they seem to be more than capable of driving up walls this is used multiple times throughout the halo 3 speed run skipping segments of saavo highway and the ark by wall riding past enemies and obstacles this can also be exploited to getting out of bounds on the covenant while driving down the mountainside to the double scarab battle if the player takes a ghost and wall rides in a specific spot you can climb the mountain to an otherwise inaccessible area with a lone marine this marine is no different from any of the others but spawns here for some unknown reason you can interact with him normally and even kill him but this marine and the secret elite that we will cover later on have no explanations on why they are here or what their purpose is speculations include that this is a nod to the legendary ending of halo combat evolved where johnson and an elite hug it out in the face of certain death or that this is a coding bug related to the spawns of marines and elites final theory is that this was purposefully included as a reference to the secret marine that can be found in halo 1 on the mission 343 guilty spark level 3 diving deeper secret elite now we are really diving into the depths of halo 3. things are getting strange really strange for starters let's talk about the secret elite like the secret marine that is more widely known there's a secret elite that even changes color based upon having the thunderstorm skull enabled which levels up enemies to their highest possible ranks this elite is also on the mission the covenant and can be found by traversing even further outside the playable area it was always wild to me that this much space can be explored in halo 3 and i was even more baffled as i aged that all this extra space had collision so the player wouldn't fall through the floor inexplicably after getting too far off the beaten path this elite is only available if you complete the time travel glitch which is where you confuse the game at to which point you are by going so far out of bounds that it assumes that you completed the current objective this advances time past you destroying the two scarabs and despawns all vehicles this elite can be seen in the basin of the main fight area and is the pilot of the phantom that drops off the arbiter once you have defeated the scarabs and are moving on to stop the prophet of truth he is usually blue but becomes a red elite with the thunderstorm skull enabled giving our secret elite friend a much needed promotion recon armor most people cannot remember a time when halo 3's original servers had millions of players online all basking in the glory of spartan vs spartan combat many more people cannot boast the now obsolete accomplishment of completing the vid master challenges to unlock the recon armor set for your multiplayer spartan these challenges are incredibly difficult and completing them will set you apart from your friends and fellow lobby members as someone that is truly skilled at halo 3 and halo odst there are seven challenges which is fitting considering bungie's obsession with the number seven four of which are in halo 3 and three are in halo odst and the challenges are as follows the first challenge is a vid master light switch which is pretty simple all you have to do is be promoted to lieutenant rank and any ranked halo 3 game mode next is a vid master annual which is widely considered to be the most difficult challenge for this you must beat the final level of halo 3 with four players on legendary with the iron skull enabled and all players in ghosts the iron skull will force all players to the last checkpoint if an ally dies rather than respawning your fallen brother as usual so you are forced to restart the checkpoint and fail alongside them the ghost run at the end will forever be ingrained in my memory twice were moments of rage and one was beautiful success in one instance my internet cut out close to the last jump forcing my party to restart the entire mission the second instance being one of my party members widely proclaimed [ __ ] after being killed by an explosion close to the end of the level in response his mother turned off his xbox and grounded him this loss of a party member forced a reset but as bungie has taught us good things either come in threes or sevens and on my third attempt all players made the final climactic jump into the frickit and unlocked the vidmaster annual achievement next is vid master seven on seven you must enter into a social or ranked game mode in halo 3 on the 7th of any month with 7 total experience in that playlist pretty easy next is vid master brain pan which tasks players with finding all of the hidden skulls within the newly released dlc pack which added the mythic multiplayer maps all of these new maps had skulls that needed to be found in order to unlock the achievement some of which were only accessible in forge by transforming into the little forged drone and then turning back into the character at a certain location to pick up the skull next is vid master and dir which is probably the second hardest challenge this tasks you with completing the fourth wave of any firefight map on heroic or higher with four players present this is also on odst this is an incredibly daunting task considering that odst was significantly less popular than halo 3 and that the playable characters were much weaker than chief this also tasks you with completing a wave not just a set of enemies there are four sets of enemies per wave meaning you have to complete 16 sets of enemies without dying seven total times to get this achievement next up is vid master deja vu which asks you to complete the odst mission coastal highway with four players on legendary and without using a scorpion or warthog this mission is pretty difficult but is nothing compared to annual it feels more like a copy paste of that challenge lastly is vidmaster classic which tasks the player with completing an entire mission of odst without firing a single shot or throwing a single grenade funnily enough power sliding and honking while in a vehicle counts as shooting slash throwing a grenade so no victory honks are allowed without failing this challenge the easiest level to do this on is upless reserve as you can steal a ghost early on and just boost right to the end of the level once you have completed all the vid master challenges you could log on to bungie.net to claim your recon armor which to suffice to say isn't worth all the time and hassle it didn't even look all that great but i was in it for the bragging rights and nothing else those bragging rights were quickly squashed in late 2012 when bungie merged with halo.net since service records weren't carried over from bungie.net all players were given the recon armor by default i'll tell you what though circa 2009 2010 me couldn't give a [ __ ] less because i got three full years of showing off my shitty looking armor to plebs that couldn't even dream of beating those challenges the windows logo this is definitely an obscure underground or under the sea easter egg to say the least the windows logo can be found on a variety of textures within halo 3. the most notable and easiest to see would be on the level of the pits there's a phone hanging on the wall next to an energy sword spawn and if meleed off reveals some wires and the windows logo there's very little information on its inclusion or why it is in the game at all standoff the map standoff is strange for a couple of reasons for one it's one of the few maps that aren't enclosed by some sort of massive barrier built by what we can assume are the forerunners and for two you are always being watched the moon has a face on it if you zoom in with a sniper rifle you can see the face of a developer in the bottom right corner and if that's not creepy enough for you there's a texture that cannot be found anywhere else in the game it is a 2d model of a man standing on every single satellite dish on the map there are no other instances of civilian spectators anywhere in the game this links to strange feelings of paranoia that can be felt when exploring multiplayer maps alone but more on that later isolation gets more infected over time and the last and most obscure thing from the third level of this iceberg is isolation isolation is a strange map in halo 3. for one it's one of the few multiplayer maps and halo history that have flood influence the lower tunnels of this map are completely taken over by the flood and there are even dormant flood pods that damage the player and scream when shot but the creepiest part of the level is what happens when you spend too much time in isolation after a while flood pods begin to overtake the top level of the map and the flood's weird skin-like substance begins to creep through the ground turning patches of grass into that gross flood skin it was long thought that if you spent enough time on this map that strange occurrences would begin to take place tyson greene was one of the lead developers on halo 3 and in an interview he specifically mentioned that there is a secret on isolation but he didn't want to spoil the surprise many players assume that flood would begin to spawn in the lower levels after enough time has passed but the secret was never truly discovered some speculate that this once again relates to the adaptive coding that made each copy of halo 3 personalized to each player some players including myself remember the flood pods creeping onto the upper levels of the map and beginning to install to destroy the greenery around it what others recollect is strange uncanny and downright disturbing players reported on forums and 4chan posts that isolation was getting continuously infected even when the player wasn't on the map there were minute changes showing that the map was getting more and more infected as time progressed and some players even remember a version of isolation with no greenery whatsoever and that the entire map was in fact completely taken over by the flood into the darkness [Music] messages on shell casings when i discovered this as a kid i was positive that i was the first person to find it on many shell casings that you can see discharging from chief's weapons there are small inscriptions on the back of the shells the most popular inscription is that of a hippo which can be seen on spent shotgun shells however on most bullet casings there is an inscription that says chief on it this easter egg is so obscure that i had to go into the game to get proof myself everywhere else including on halopedia and other wiki sites this is undocumented johnson is alive like the infinite laser exploit that we covered closer to the surface of the iceberg there is a theory and proof that johnson is alive and can be saved during the final mission of halo 3. before entering the room with the guilty spark boss fight you can kill johnson while he is still dead initiate the boss fight and defeat sparky after leaving the boss arena johnson will be outside waiting for you and obviously still alive you can play out this mission normally but johnson is no longer invincible nor will he respawn after being killed by the flood or sentinels if you manage to keep him alive with you during the gauntlet run to the warthog he will get into the turret or passenger seat and escape with you much like some earlier occurrences many players consider this to be the canonical ending of halo 3. many will swear to this day that johnson didn't die in the opening scene of the sparky boss fight and that the final cut scene was slightly altered to include the arbiter and johnson in the cockpit of the frigate this is just a theory but as we go deeper and deeper into the abyss you may begin to believe in these odd conveniences too early scarab this is another speed run strategy for the level the ark towards the end you will encounter a scarab if you grab a warthog instead of a scorpion and race to the bottom of a hill or snag a chopper and go through the interior section with guilty spark in the chopper you can grab a gravel and use it to get onto the scarab as it enters the map by climbing over the back wall this saves tons of time as the intended way to defeat the scarab is to use a vehicle to jump onto its back savo highway skip this is also a speed run strategy that completely skipped to the final fight of the mission savo highway once you enter the final arena there will be two brutes next to two choppers kill them take one and then wall ride up the hill to access the final fight from here the game looks for two triggers to complete the mission the shade turret and the barrier must be destroyed with some well-placed grenades skilled players can skip this entire fight and trigger the end of the level on the other side of the highway custom games many current day halo players will have experience with some of the many creative custom game modes that halo has to offer these custom games completely change the dynamics of the game and make it something more some classic custom games from the halo 3 era are the trash man frank what the hell are you doing man that's my character i'm the trash man i come out i throw trash all over all over the ring and then i start eating garbage where one player spawns in it with an infinite ammo gravity hammer and is surrounded by vehicles and a pit in the middle of the room all the other players spawn on the bottom floor a long hallway with man cannons facing them on one end the goal is to crush players with flying shrapnel if you're the infected or survive long enough to dethrone the trashman himself fat kid you all spawn in what looks to be a classroom all players have normal speed except for the infected which is invincible has an energy sword and moves at a snail's pace the goal is to navigate a maze and escape to freedom or get impaled by the fat kid and becoming an infected the only footage i could find on this was a mode called run for your lives which is another great game mode with a similar concept except all players are full speed and can impede the infected and other survivors with grenades and equipment both are excellent concepts halo on halo one player spawns in the middle of a circular track with a sniper rifle and rocket launcher other players must race around the circle and avoid getting killed or falling off the track if you survive to the end of the course you are teleported to a safe room with a beam rifle kill the infected win the round take his place and lastly is duck hunt which is like halo on halo but with vehicles rube goldbergs a subset of custom games rube goldbergs are machines that accomplish basic tasks in a complex way this translated to halo 3 by players building complex tracks for soccer balls kill balls and vehicles to complete a track and accomplish something mundane and simple such as crushing a spartan putting a golf ball into a hole or dispensing a weapon for a player to pick up they were fun to create and test and gratifying to watch even now while making this video i got trapped down the rabbit hole of halo rube goldbergs to this day they are entertaining and obscure little creations that spawned from curious minds with free time you'd have to be a real og to remember these treasures from days past happy birthday lauren is considered to be the most recent discovery in halo 3. it is a message that can only be seen on a certain date and by clicking both the thumb stacks in during a loading screen the halo ring will expand out and the message happy birthday lauren will be within the ring a halo developer added this in as a birthday present to his wife and if i were her i would be really [ __ ] underwhelmed nostalgia music something about halo 3 soundtrack triggered nostalgia even before it had fallen off the shelf and into the bargain bin the long strums on the violin and quiet ambiance of piano give me a feeling of longing for something like missing a loved one or having a sudden feeling of fleeting time there's a sadness here too as if i am just now gaining the understanding that i can not experience this game for the first time again that my experiences in this game are all so real and feel like yesterday but are actually fleeting memories of a time long ago regardless of what feelings are triggered for the individual it cannot be denied that the music from halo 3 on its own could trigger intense emotions but within the context of being attached to what was at the time the final halo game in the series and the final game of one of the greatest video game franchises of all time adds to these feelings of longing and sadness for me now the music brings me back to being a kid and having no responsibilities and not having these feelings whatsoever having friends over to stay up all night playing four-person split screen on big team battle eating pizza and creating memories that would last for the rest of my life i remember the creativity of forging racing tracks flipping the elephant on sam trap and trying to hop the fence on the pit i also remember growing up with my younger brother and spending time with him that i realized now as an adult i took for granted i never get that time with him now not in the same way at least this game and the soundtrack specifically the menu music reminds me of how time is fleeting that we mustn't make it take a single moment for granted even our fondest heroes and greatest accomplishments will eventually fade into obscurity so enjoy the good times while they are here live it up while you are young and free of responsibilities and adulting stay up late skip school every once in a while make friends play your favorite games all day and night and never sweat the small stuff you never know how you'll truly feel about those moments while you are living them only afterwards once you've processed those events will you know whether you enjoyed your time and relished it or wasted this music will likely not have the same effect on you if you didn't experience halo in its prime while the original trilogy was still coming out speculation and anticipation running high through every fan of the series to you just discovering this video today and just discovering the halo series for the first time it may just be another game soundtrack but to those of us that have loved this game since 2007 it hits different today aim over cortana on the monitors cortana controls anything electronic and is practically omnipotent she stalks you throughout the game speaking in your ear without actually being there and appearing on monitors in several missions it is almost as if cortana is tracking you watching your every move and making sure you are on the way to save her perhaps this is a test of loyalty to her maybe she planned to take over the guardians from the very beginning and faked her own death due to rampancy was cortana evil during all this time and simply using chief to complete her agenda maybe chief is going crazy perhaps cortana is corrupting his mind to be forever loyal to her slowly brainwashing jon to do her bidding without question we may never know given the departure from the main state halo games with the introduction of halo infinite rather than finishing the saga with halo 6. davinci boxes these are obscure boxes that look like hundred-sided die with the numbers one through four in the boxes that can be found on maps with guardians these boxes were never intended to be found and are linked to the guardian's code more than likely this is their targeting system which determines where mines will spawn on sand trap and where the lasers will be fired on sandbox the secret to these boxes hasn't been completely debunked but the targeting system theory seems to have the most traction right now for all we know these da vinci boxes are related to the adaptive code found in early copies of the game the guardians the guardians from the original halo trilogy and maps are remnants of the guardians and halo 5 from long ago built on planets around societies and designed to keep them safe policed contained and controlled have you ever looked at the design of the halo 3 multiplayer modes many of them are in enclosed arenas almost as if they were built for the guardians to spectate in human and elite compound and have you ever explored these maps completely alone there's a strange sensation when wandering these maps all by yourself and forge or otherwise many players admit to getting a serious case of the heebie-jeebies and report strange feelings of paranoia as if they're being watched by someone or something we can see that on standoff there seem to be omnipotent entities watching us fight from the sidelines and any maps with guardians give off this uncanny vibe maybe it is the feeling of us being so small in a world so large the feeling of being lost or the feeling of being powerless but many players do not dare to explore maps like sand trap sandbox or narrows alone as there are some dark energy surrounding these maps as if at any moment you may turn around and find yourself face to face with something that should not be there to go further on this there have been ghost sightings in halo perhaps these are sentient creatures within the game that choose to interact with or leave players be depending on what type of spirit they are whatever the case may be with these strange emotions and feelings of paranoia if your reticle ever turns red and there is nothing in front of you do not attack do not run do not even pause the game the safest course of action would be to turn off your console and stop playing for the day interacting with these entities could lead to adverse consequences even in the real world every halo 3 copy is personalized finally the bread and butter argument that conspiracy theories from across the internet are dying to hear like mario 64 and many other games from what is widely considered to be the golden age of gaming halo 3 copies are completely personalized to the player think about this for a second did you ever play a friend's copy of halo 3 back in the day and have it feel weird different or foreign all the levels are seemingly the same but the game itself just feels different like something is off if you have experienced that feeling with an older game chances are good you are playing a personalized copy and it isn't personalized to you this theory is formed around the idea of adaptive experimental code that was being written and applied to many console games in the 90s and early 2000s this code was meant to adapt to a player's play style and either cater to it or challenge it depending on the game and the difficulty you were playing on the game itself plays out the same but there are minor differences added in to enhance your specific experience we touched on some of these ideas and earlier concepts and this is where it all comes full circle did you happen to load up isolation only to find the entire map covered in flood spores did you ever save johnson from being killed and see him in the final cut scene of the game did you ever see the hidden messages in the covenant that tipped you off about the order of the rings to unlock the i would have been your daddy's skull many players have experienced phenomena like this that halo 3 was different to them than it was to others today due to a wealth of knowledge and the internet and recording software becoming commonplace this code was ultimately scrapped and shelved as custom copies would quickly gain traction in a world so overwhelmed by technology the halo 3 that you purchased today from the xbox marketplace or from the master chief collection does not contain this coding protocol the game we see today is rather an agreed source code that bungie and 343 collaborated to create this version of the game known as the true version is the halo 3 that we all know today sergeant johnson is killed there are no hints to acquire skulls and isolation does not get more infected over time this adaptive code led early gamers to purchase more products from the halo ip and also contributes to their more recent failings with halo 5. maybe with this line of adaptive code halo 4 and 5 could have been regarded as much better games but the game itself was limited and was not able to change the game based on the player's wants and desires there is also real supporting evidence to support this claim halo 3's code has what is called rng seeds every time you reload the level the rng seed changes enemies walk different patterns miss or hit more shots voice lines are randomized etc this means that there are an infinite number of possible outcomes when playing a level of halo 3. the enemies are not going to react the same way each time so who's to say that the story itself wouldn't be affected by rng seeds too perhaps rng seeds hold the secret to this certain adaptive code that drastically alters the game based upon how the player interacts with it maybe a certain course of actions played out on an original copy of halo 3 could unlock the secrets that have eluded us for so long maybe johnson is alive isolation is now completely taken over by the flood and there is a message on the covenant telling players how to unlock the iwh byd skull only further investigation and speculation can close this can of worms and definitively prove whether or not this theory is correct are you a believer play through og halo 3 again and really pay attention to the subtleties of it you might just change your mind for us the storm has passed the war is over but let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return for their decision required courage beyond measure sacrifice and unshakeable conviction that their fight our fight was elsewhere as we start to rebuild this hillside will remain barren a memorial to heroes fallen they ennobled all of us and they shall not be forgotten present hops i remember how this war started what your kind did to mine i can't forgive you but you have my thanks for standing by him to the end hard to believe he's dead were it so easy you
