founding being one of the many chapters created with the intention to stabilize and reinforce the Imperial rule throughout segmented pacificas in the wake of the event known as the novaterra interagnum or as it was more informally known at the time of the twin Empires long before their Fall From Grace the astral Clause were a proud Noble and highly respected chapter achieving Victory out of victory in the emperor's name throughout multiple theaters of War in the light of their many accomplishments and in particular their actions in the defense of Cadia during the course of the fifth Black Crusade the astral Clause would be granted the honor of having their chapter Banner erected within the very Halls of the Imperial Palace white would be displayed in front of the eternity gate the Gilded doorway that leads into the very heart of the sanctum imperialis where the Emperor of mankind himself resides in 288 M38 the astral Clause would take part in the events of the altered Crusade fighting alongside the forces of the Dark Angels chapter however the astral Clause would be officially reported as having been destroyed during the course of the conflict as no trace of the chapter could be found in the aftermath of the Crusade this report regarding the chapter's destruction however were greatly exaggerated for while the astral claws had been utterly decimated during the course of the Crusade they wouldn't match from their isolation at full chapter strength roughly 2 000 years later in order to lend their aid to Imperial forces against the armies of the Gorgon pentaki in early M40 in 587 m41 the chapter alongside the Mantis Warriors lamentus and Charnel God would be tasked by the high Lords Of Terror with guarding the boundaries of the warp space Rift known as the Maelstrom so as to prevent any traitor Legion warbands or demonic incursions from attempting to make their way into real space these four chapters would come to be known within Imperial records as the Maelstrom Waters with the Astro claws being granted overall command of the waters thanks in part to the many Battlefield honors they had accumulated over the Millennia although the channel God would find themselves redeployed to another theater of war shortly after the group's formation it was after being appointed as one of the Maelstrom warders that the astral Clause would finally claim a Homeworld of their own establishing a fortress Ministry upon the world of bada primaris the capital world or the badapp system in time however the astral Clause alongside the Mantis Warriors and lamenters would instigate a war of secession against the Imperium which would come to be known as the badap war the resulting conflict would prove to be one other bloodiest Civil Wars to ever erupt throughout the Imperium since the days of the Horus heresy and while the astral Clause would prove to be a tenacious and highly dangerous Foe for loyalist forces a chapter after suffering heavy losses would be forced to flee into the depths of the Maelstrom itself here the surviving astral Clause now having since been declared as excommunicate retaurus by the Imperium would form the foundations to one of the largest Kia Space Marine warbands are known to exist becoming known henceforth as the red core says under the command of their chapter Master lufturon now having taken the name of Huron Blackheart the red corsairs would continue to grow in size power and influence with their ranks being continuously swelled by both true chaos Space Marines as well as traitor elements from loyalist chapters the radical says have grown so powerful over the years that they are considered by many to be just as much of a threat to the Imperium if not more so than the black Legion of Aberdeen that is spoiler or the majority of Records regarding the astral Clause would be destroyed following the culmination of the badab war with many examples of which being burned by the chapter itself some within the Inquisition have sought to preserved as much information pertaining to the astral Clause as possible says to better understand the threat that the red core says post to the Imperium despite this some key records in particular the identity of the chapter's primogenita Primark have been completely lost making it impossible to truly determine if a chapters fall to damnation was caused by an inherent flaw within their Genesis stocks or if it was simply a result of the arrogance and hubris of lufturon somewhat surprisingly all documentation regarding the genetic lineage of the astral Clause appears to have vanished from official records long before the chapters Fall From Grace as Luft Huron himself long after the events of the badab war would remark that such information remained unknown even to him with this in mind is it possible to determine the parent Legion of the astral clause from the outset there are a number of first founding Legions that can be easily disregarded as being the potential primogenitors of the astral clause for one reason or another the space walls for example prior to the introduction of primaris Marines would give rise to only a single successor chapter the Wolf brothers before their juncted stocks would degrade as such an extreme degree that it would become impossible for anyone other than the native population of fendras the Homeworld are the Space Wolves to be implanted with Gene said derived from the Primark Lehman Ross rendering it impossible to create additional spaceful successor chapters it would also be fairly unlikely for the salamanders to be the parent Legion of the astral Clause due to the fact that prior to the events of Ultima founding the salamanders would have no official successor chapters documented within Imperial records although some chapters such as the storm Giants and black dragons were rumored to have been created utilizing valkana Jean Sid despite such claims remaining unconfirmed with an Imperial Armor Vol 9 the astral Clause were described as demonstrating a gene said that supposedly displayed little to no signs of genetic degradation this by extension would appear to disregard the possibility of the astral Clause being descended from the blood angels Raven God or the Imperial Fists the blood angels are known to demonstrate two key flaws within their Gene seed the red thirst a physiological flaw that instills an intense craving for blood and the black rage a psychological flaw that causes those that succumb to it to believe that they are their Primark sanguineous during the final hours of the Horus heresy transforming them into little more than insane Berserkers The Raven God also demonstrate a number of physical flaws and aberrations most notably missing new cronoid and bachelor's gland organs rendering them incapable of secreting a waxy coating to protect them from extreme changes in temperature or from producing an acidic saliva as well as supporting various deficiencies within their melancholic organ resulting in those with caraxine Gene seed to develop pale skin as well as dark hair and eyes the Imperial Fists by contrast despite having a gene said that astral Clause to be a successor chapter of the ultramarines as by the end of the 41st Millennium an estimated 75 of all Space Marine chapters were believed to be descended from the 13th Legion the main reason as to why the ultramarines were able to sire such an exceptionally large number of successor chapters is that in addition to the exceptionally pure and staple Gene seed stock the ultramarines were the single largest Space Marine Legion allowing them to be divided into a far greater number of successor chapters when compared to the other Legions in addition prior to the events leading up to the badab war the astral Clause were known to closely adhere to the doctrines and tenets of the Codex astartes attacks Penn by none other than the ultramarine's Primark rebuta giliman this would appear to further support the notion of the astral Clause being an ultramarine successor as many chapters descended from the 13th Legion though by no means all are also known to closely if any deviation from its teachings can be considered tantamount to heresy by contrast it would appear to be somewhat less likely for the astral Clause to be descended from the Dark Angels due to a variety of reasons the first of which is that despite their Gene seed stocks being exceptionally pure and stable second only to that of the ultramarines in this regard the creation of the dark Angel's successor chapter is considered to be a relatively rare occurrence while the exact reasoning for this is unknown it is commonly believed that the high Lords Of Terror deliberately restrict and limit the use of first Legion Gene seed when establishing new Space Marine chapters due to various rumors and accusations of Legion building being leveled at the modern day Dark Angels chapter as a result some dark angel successor chapters such as the Disciples of caliban would only come into existence due to Dark Angels directly partitioning the high Lords Of Terror for their creation secondly as mentioned earlier the astral claws were heavily implied to have closely adhered to the tenets of the Codex astartes by comparison the Dark Angels and their various successor chapters known collectively as The Unforgiven are known to heavily deviate from the Codex in a number of ways most prominently in regards to the structure of their Deathwing and Raven ring companies which fulfill the role of the chapters first and second companies respectively the Deathwing of Unforgiven unlike the first companies of the other chapters is with the exception of the Deathwing primaris Marines comprised exclusively of warriors-clad in Terminator armor whereas other chapters will utilize a mix of Terminators and power armored veteran squads the astral Clause however were shown to have veterans in both power armor and Terminator armor suggesting that the chapter did not have an equivalent to the Deathwing in terms of organizational structure while the astral Clause would indeed make use a specialist bike squadrons known within the chapter as the iron Hunters such units instead of being confined solely within a specialist company like the Raven Wing where peppered throughout each of the chapters various battle companies the third reason is due to the fact that the astral claws appear to have never taken part in the hunt for the Fallen a secret mission to hunt down those members of the original Dark Angels Legion that turned traitor during the Horus heresy however that being said it has been suggested that a small number of dark angel successor chapters specifically those from the later foundings remain unaware of a fallen's existence or at the very least would do so for an extended period of time as such it isn't entirely outside the realm of possibility for the astral Clause to have remained ignorant of the Fallen should they indeed be derived from Dark Angels genetic stock alternatively perhaps the claims of a chapter being descended from either the ultramarines or dark angels are in fact in a manner speaking both correct and that the astral Clause boasted a chimeric gene seed which is half ultramarine and half dark angel in its makeup such an idea wouldn't be entirely outside the realm of possibility as the relictus chapter are themselves heavily implied if not I've tried confirmed to spartacon Merrick Jean seed splice together from both Dark Angel and ultramarine DNA but there is a potentially darker possibility could the reason behind both a success and downfall of the astral Clause be due to the possibility of the chapters Gene seed being derived from one other traitor Legions specifically the 16th Legion or the legionistatis the sons of Horus admittedly there is very little in the way of evidence to support such a possibility say for that which can be considered as being circumstantial at best after all as shown within the Imperial Armor Vol 9 some within the Inquisition have claimed that the astral claws were created utilizing forbidden sources suggesting that the chapters Gene said had been drawn from Trader stock although such claims have also been stated to be outlandish and ridiculous the gene seed are the sons of Horrors are shown within index astartes Vol 4 was stated to have been prior to the Battle of Daven reliably pure much like that of the astral clause as well as this the history of the sons of Horrors is in many ways similar to that of the astral Clause themselves Not only would both factions become highly respected and famed for claiming an impressive number of Victories and battle on us in the emperor's name but they would both turn against the Imperium for what they initially believed to be the greater good before eventually and fully succumbing to chaotic corruption in addition spend many of their formative years fighting directly under the supervision of their Primark as well as the emperor himself aside from this however there is little else to support the notion of the astral Clause being born from Trader stock whatever the truth may be the modern day redcourse says nonetheless remain a dangerous and persistent foe to the Imperium whose numbers only continue to swell with each passing day perhaps one day here on Blackheart may decide to lead a Black Crusade of his very own although whether or not the Imperium will be able to withstand the full Fury of the
