stockpiled 20 or more magazines hidden hit subscribe button guys Granth I'm here with gun mag warehouse and today we're gonna be talking about magazines specifically ar-15 / m4 magazines in which ones I prefer and why we're not gonna be doing a torture test here I'm not gonna be taking these magazines and spiking them into the ground or blowing them up or shooting them with a shotgun I don't know what that proves first off well blowing them up I understand spike them into the ground but I think that my experiences in shooting you know between four and six thousand rounds per firearm you know per review for the last two years and usually doing two to three guns per month qualifies when you talk a little bit about these types of magazines and which ones work for me I've used a lot of these pretty much any magazine you can imagine on the market and I've kind of narrowed it down to a few that work really well for me so let's kind of get into it you know they are 15 m4 has been beleaguered by problems in its early days I think a lot of those who I don't think a lot of those word do to the magazines whether they weren't cared for or we use them they should have been reused but we're in a golden age of m4 magazines where they have made the important extremely well and ar-15 an extremely reliable platform so start off with if you were an older shooter you may have remembered remembered when the green follower first came out on the metal magazines the GI magazines that these were much loved well maybe not love but this follower is not as good as the followers that we currently have in the market so let's look at what's currently on the market so one of the first magazines I want to talk about the ones that work really well for me that are AGI type mag if you want to kind of have that are the okay industries mags now there are a lot of really great GI mag manufacturers but I really trust ok industries I've used them for a long time they're pretty ok it's a terrible joke but they are a metal mag they're very well made and then they use a Magpul follower more so than anything I think that the Magpul follower has been one of the greatest kind of contributions that magpul's made to the ar-15 world it has just changed the reliability for these sets of magazines so the OK industries metal for mags are just wonderful speaking of the ok industries there's a couple of those we have to talk about and that's going to be the sure feed so the sure feed is kind of a newer offering from ok industry as they just have little dimples right on the side of the magazine that allow you to have a little bit more grip enos as you're pulling them out because with the older GI mags they're pretty smooth so that's why I always added the tape right here one to differentiate different types of ammunition and two it gives me just a little bit of grip right down there when I'm throwing that thing into the gun but the sure feeds I don't really need to do that unless they need to mark it for you know ammunition type purposes so the shirt feeds are great they do not use a Magpul follower however I have found these sure feeds to be wholly reliable and both suppress unsuppressed and in any type of condition so both very good so again ok industries for some really good metal type magazines keeping on our theme of metal magazines another magazine that we have to talk about more talking about metal mags is the mythical H&K steel magazine so these magazines right here are aluminum from okay industries and the HK mags are steel giving you better reliability durability that's kind of a thought process I have never had any trouble with H&K mags I'm sure someone has every magazine has failed somebody at some point people have had Magpul split in half people have had these failed them all the time so I'm sure HK mags have failed people of ER I find the HK mags to be very very tough and very reliable now the problem of course with the steel magazines is that they are much heavier than the aluminum or than the Magpul magazines so they're also a little bit longer so if you have both these side by side you'll notice that the HEK mag is a little bit longer so if your kit that you're wearing or you know if you have the magazine your belt it's perfectly kind of lined up to fit the GI mags you might have a little bit of trouble with the H&K mags if you don't have a lot of clearance on your kid if you got like a cog works case right there or an admin pouch its button up right against it might be harder to pull these magazines out but the H&K mags are wonderful of course we can't talk about magazines without talking about Magpul magazines probably more so than anything Magpul magazines really changed the game they were probably one of the first extremely reliable m4 slash ar-15 magazines that were ever put into the market now the particular one that I'm holding right here is one of my Gen 2 windowed magazines that I've probably had this one probably has at least 20 or 30,000 rounds loaded and unloaded through it throughout its lifetime at the very least wonderful magazines what I like about the pmags especially the windowed ones is that you can of course see what's the way your round count is now the round count isn't based on where you can see the magazines the bullets sorry rather it's based on that nice little orange follower that you see in the window right there that orange follower indicates how many rounds you have and it's very accurate so it's always been that fun to have the windowed mags now the gentoos did have a couple problems so the Gen threes fix most of those problems right here we have a Gen 3 P mag with it's a little over insertion tab right here which is absolutely necessary in certain hot environments so these magazines are incredibly reliable and more so than metal mags can resist certain things even better now if you notice looking at these the P mags are a little bit fatter they have a little bit more girth to them especially down towards the bottom so in certain magazine carriers it might be a little bit too tight of a fit so if you have cloth magazine pouches that aren't fitting with your pmags get them wet soak them in hot water after they soaked in hot water for a couple minutes squeeze the pee bags in there allow them to sit in there for a couple hours and then allow them to dry around there and they'll form around the P mags and it'll make it a little loose in them up a little bit I know now my Marines have had to do that quite a bit as the Marine Corps switch over to the P mags so there's a little bit of knowledge for you guys out there but yeah if you're looking for magazines good to go for the pmags a couple notes compared to the GI mag also GI mags when they're dropped in their feed lips when they're loaded a good chance to get bend or something like that you're not gonna have that so much with the pmags you know pmags can fail they can crack that can split down the seems they are polymer and it can definitely happen so I just realized that neither is invaluable but in certain cases the Magpul can take a lot more forces like being run over and that type of stuff you've seen that video I'm sure famously have them being run over by a Humvee and that type of thing then where the GI mags just explode and blow out so there's definitely a lot to be said these are wonderful magazines and I use these both equally but I no doubt would trust the pmags quite a bit so we've talked about a lot of the common magazines that I'm using the last note that I want to make is if you're a guy who's using m855a1 which was one of the newer rounds currently used in the military you do need to use or you don't have to but I would definitely recommend using the enhanced performance magazine this was specifically designed for that round am 855 a 1 it puts out at a different angle that way it's not chewing up the feed ramps on the m4 so until that's kind of upgraded definitely recommended to use these I know a study came out from the Marine Corps sitting that these cause a long enough functions however I've seen a lot said about that study seen that perhaps it wasn't the most unbiased study and perhaps that these did not fare as poorly as was thought according to the study based on a multitude of factors that came into play and that's gonna be a whole nother video if we ever talk about that but the enhanced performance magazine is perhaps the newest magazine currently used in use by the military design in about 2013 by the army which is scary but they make good things sometimes so again if you use an m855a1 the enhanced performance magazine so guys I hope my kind of talk about magazines has helped yet a little bit again if you forgotten what I've talked about I use the ok industry's metal mags I use P mags and I use a lot of HK mags and then if I'm shooting an m855a1 I'm using the enhanced performance magazine get out there guys buy
