I will always remember an ethical conundrum I had because of this song. 9th grade, Mr. Kenzie's English class. We were doing a unit on poetry. So, next day Kenzie asks this one kid, Mike K. to read his poem to the class. He thought it was so good, it deserved special recognition. So Mike stands up and starts reading.
And it was the lyrics to Analog Kid.
It was kinda funny, because, though I didn't really know Mike at all, we made eye contact about halfway through the reading, and he clearly knew that I knew. I musta raised a disapproving eyebrow or something.
Luckily, I didn't have to nark on ol' Mikey. He told Mr. Kenzie after class himself.
Maybe Rush really does teach us some life lessons sometimes.
If this were actually The Analog Kid I would be commenting on how fucking great Alex's solo is. It's criminally underrated.
Also:
"The fawn-eyed girl with sun-browned legs
Dances on the edge of his dream
And her voice rings in his ears
Like the music of the spheres"
only Neil could write this.
Too many hands on my time
Too many feelings
Too many things on my mind
When l leave, l don't know what lβm hoping to find
When l leave, l don't know what lβm leaving behind
This song inspired the lyric βToo many hands on my time.β
This is one of the best songs on a classic album, a personal favorite. The chorus especially is moving. For some reason it reminds me of Ray Bradbury's "Dandelion Wine," maybe because both are so poetic in appreciating the simple and natural things in life. I need to listen to it right now.
Not that I'm complaining, but this isn't Analog Kid
It's an autumn song? I've always thought it was a spring/summer song...
I love The Analog Kid so much. Geddyβs bass part through the whole song is fantastic. I donβt know how he sings and does that at the same time. Also, Alexβs solo is just phenomenal.
YES!!! windows down, music up, just enjoying a drive.
