hey everybody its rolling Martin here hey thanks for watching my youtube channel it's really really popular now and you know I get a lot of subscribers that write in and I had a real successful YouTube program not too long ago and it was one of my best ones ever it was there the three best knots for braids well everybody since that time thousands of people have said what's the best knots for monofilament because see number number one line in the world is monofilament I mean we've been using monofilament since since day one now sure there's fluorocarbon that's a big that's a big deal and then there's braid that's a big deal well that covered brain I even talked about fluorocarbon but the main mind in the world is monofilament okay among the most common wide for freshwater fishing did I do a lot of bass fishin for example would say be this 14 pounds less long okay that's that's a nice line but for the purpose of this demonstration you can't see this 14 it's to span it's too small so what I'm gonna do for just time that's not I'm gonna use this salt water line and it's a 30 pound test line it's a lot thicker and hopefully you'll be able to see it a lot better now with 30 pound line I can't go as many turns so that the clinch knot the improved clinch knot for the lighter line I like to go seven turns with this heavy thirty pound line I'm gonna just go five turns because it's a lot heavier your life okay to tie the lot okay I come through the eye of the hook one time you could go through twice if you want make a loop with around your finger and go one two three four five terms now go back through where your finger is come right through there now where your thumb is I'm going through back a second time and kind of go a double deal that is the improved clinch knot now okay it's important to wet it down now what you do when I'm going to set the line what happens is mono filament heats up I'm not gonna break it I'm just gonna set it down let's come in sit down tight coming down tight let's heat it up now I've put a lot of pressure on it it's heated up and as it cools off it's gonna take a sec and that's what gives it the strength you got to let it cool off and once you pull it up tight the heat kind of it you know it once it's set it's not going to stretch and pull anymore it's not going to heat up okay with my knife or with a pair of pliers okay that is properly tied five turn improved clinch knot let me show you Suri something I will put this in a vise right here and just show you a very important fact that's not a hundred percent modern but not is not gonna not it's gonna probably just 95% okay this is 30 pound wide I know that it's actually about almost 40 from the way it test and I want a body wrap this thing I'm just gonna come around my body with it okay and now I'm gonna back up I'm just gonna back up heart heart heart and watch it break it break it broke it broke it it off I know it's gonna break it or not it's not a hundred percent not there's only a couple knots in a world that are a hundred percent not pretty pretty strong 90 to 93 percent nod but not the strongest knot so what do you say is the strongest knot for tying a hook well we've all come to the conclusion that the strongest knot is probably a Palomar knot the Palomar knot is a simple knot to tie and again I'm going to use a thirty pound line this big saltwater hook just show you that it's a fairly simple knot to time what I do with the Palomar knot I try to take about almost a foot of line close to the line and double it okay get close to a foot of line and I take that and and I go right through the big eye of the hook okay one time come out take my take my finger again and put over there now I take this loop in and I come through where my finger is okay come right through there kind of like I was doing a clinch and now I'll get this big loop I take the hook or the lure and go through that loop okay now here's the key to it when you go to pull it down tight you want to pull it down even watch that thing kind of go what is finally kind of going to wet it I'm gonna wet it and the first thing I'm going to do is pull the main line just kind of cinch your tab tight and then to set it properly I take the tag end right here put it my teeth and really let it clinch down okay put the tag in right here okay that's all properly tied Palomar knot you notice he's thinking double twist itself you know it that was trunk what I was trying to do when I tied that knot I was trying to keep it from twisting around itself a couple of times and that's what I did I'm gonna trim this off a little bit shorter okay properly tied Palomar knot put it in the vise again since you see about I know about how much pressure I had on the on the improved clinch knot when they just see if it measures up to to what this Palomar knot can do Palomar knots usually go another couple percent stronger and it's a simple knot to tie I'm gonna body body wrap it again I'm gonna back it up back it up oh definitely a stronger doc I'm telling you I pulled a lot harder this this Palomar knot is more superior and stronger than that improved clinch knot which is the number one not for all-mountain element for years of years oK we've covered really the two knots you know if you use a real heavy line here's the deal if you use a really a heavy line you can get away with the improved clinch because you don't maybe need a 100% not 90% not but still give you 20 something percent of 20 something pounds test that maybe if your other line you know the real is 15 pound test then the approved clinch can work but if you want the best not for a lure for the line if you're just using a single line say like this 14 pound test monofilament I would suggest you tie the Palomar knot again when you pull the Palomar up not tight make sure it doesn't twist around itself make sure it just all even pull your main line first to snug it up then put some little pressure wet the line and pull that tag end you know down tight set it and that was a strong knot that was practically a hundred percent okay what's the third most important not I think you can tie well you know a lot of lures for example a jeans the jig is a perfect example of a lure that needs a loop okay a loop knot is something that allows us jig to kind of move around because unlike the Palomar or the improved clinch knot that's just kind of holds it there and if it's heavy line it just doesn't have much wobble but when you have a loop knot the jig jig around more so let's just say this just take this thing instead of having the jig let's go back to my big solar hook again instead of having my white line let's go back to a big 30 pound test saltwater line and let's talk about tying a loop knot with a uni a loop knot uni okay the time I loop not even it's a very very effective way to fish a jig and the fish saltwater general just to suit very very very common to make a loop knot with the Uni I make just a single loop right here in my line a single over hairline okay like that that's all it is I come through the I in this case it could be a lure it could be a jig it could be a hook excuse it okay comes to a single time now you want to come through the loop that you just made that little that little round deal okay to pull it all tight pull it all tight now the Uni is based on this loop right here I make that loop so you see how what I just did I made a loop I made a loop around the line like this on the on the on the main side not on the lower side of the other little loop and now I'm gonna come through once twice three times let's go four times four times okay pull it down tight okay now I want to go ahead and put wet it always what you want okay now watch this I'm gonna pull it up tight that other line pulled up smack snug okay you can tie that as short as you want but that's a loop knob you can cut this off as short as you want I'm just going to cut it off here with my knife on the table but that is a properly tied loop knot now if that's a jig and you're fishing out in deep water and the jig has much more movement this way okay and it also serves as somewhat of a leader because this double line is stronger with the toothy critters than it is a single line I know I know little break yeah you can cut through that single line - but it's - of a mayor and so it gives you a little bit more than just a single line so it's a little stronger right here at the hook the loop conne is but it's very very important there's so many different crank baits there's so many different jigs that really require a loop done now let's try to break the loop now okay well go into the the Vice again I'm going to tighten it way up tight way up okay I'm gonna body wrap it again that's coming out of the brake line I'm gonna come back like this and I'm gonna pull I'll pull it I'll pull it hard a pulling heart folder oh it broke I knew it'd break its gonna break it's a line but I'm telling you what that loop not was a harder pull than I did all that on the improved clinch everybody uses an approved clinch and think that's a good knot the improved clinch is not the strongest knot I think this loop knot with the Uni is stronger and I think definitely definitely the Palomar the standard turned Palomar that I just showed you is the very strongest retire on the lure well anyway I hope that's going to solve your problems because it has if you're efficient with my guy at one you want to fast not the time so I recommend the Palomar the number one not that I know of for monofilament hey listen folks I post every every Wednesday opposed in every Sunday and then I do all what's happening rolling on Friday have a really nice little little thing I've just to give a recap of the week and this week's been real interesting so that's coming up soon anyway folks I really really appreciate your subscriptions I appreciate your comments cuz I lead Obama I
