Testing the Nail Art Printing Robot (I'm being replaced)

how many dumb humans does it take to figure out there's a robot technology [Music] hello everyone it's me Christine again welcome back to my channel the year is 2019 and robots it's a dark dark future nail artists have been officially replaced sadly what do you think so now you know why I stopped doing nail art tutorial you don't need me if you got robots okay so a bunch of you guys were tagging me in this tweet that recently went viral it's up almost six million views at the time I took this screen grab that's six million people maybe some of whom are nail techs who now know that they may not have a job tomorrow is this the end of humans doing nail art if machines are in fact replacing us then does that mean the joke about how I don't do nail art anymore on this channel can finally die remember when you used to do nail art now you do your stupid videos you know there have been warning signs but I guess that was just an early prototype you know primitive technology and now robots have evolved from painting nails to printing on nails though I will say this isn't the first time I've seen something like this over ten years ago Barbie released a nail printer Barbie did it first no I never had the Barbie nail printer and yes I wish I did even though I was 20 years old when it came out but I still would have wanted it and what seems like many years ago I contributed to a Kickstarter campaign for the nail BOTS another nail printing device I contributed $200 they could get their project off the ground because I really wanted to use it I was so excited for the nail but not just for printing on my nails but also because it seemed like the company was really in support of young women and girls in science technology and math but dude I've gotten dozens of emails since 2016 about how it's coming it's 2019 now where's my nail box how many project updates can you have I go to the website and it says join the wait list I am on the wait list I want off the wait list and I want the nail box not trying to hate on the company I just really want my feel but thankfully there's been other companies that know what the people want I found another one oh two nails nail printer because technology doesn't wait for Kickstarter campaigns competitive marketplace this looks like it could be the same make and model as the one in the tweet I bought this off Aliexpress for $800 I hope it's worth it it looks like they have these nail robots listed on Amazon now but when I went to order it a few weeks ago I could only find it on Aliexpress and all the information was in Chinese so I'm not entirely sure what I ordered what's in the box only words written in English on this box are Oh two nails and Wi-Fi what apps are these is this orange thing like the Chinese version of YouTube is there a Chinese version of the YouTube can you watch YouTube in China no instead a project on internet censorship and found out that Facebook was blocked in China so genius instructions Wow looks like a giant end of an iPhone charger is this an Apple product follow anyone in there Siri hallo all right let's make sure we got everything nail guards stickers now mask this is the spot this is from their image gallery oh dude she gonna take your job seriously this doesn't make sense I've seen other people and use this and it work really well like Sveta Santa so what are we doing wrong wait a second these instructions say something different than what the app said then there's also these instructions which one do I follow it's your turn okay well I'm gonna have to use my other hand no mention you have so many like rust-eze what's going on she slept in her mascara maybe this isn't like a legit Oh two nails and you just got some knockoff of Aliexpress oh my god I paid $800 for it oh yeah there's a sucker you maybe the robot's voice controlled and we just had to talk to it all along oh two nails go control-alt-delete relationship it won't even get back to me I think quality enhance DPI 1600 actually no where does this say how many DPI the printer is supposed to be you know most printers tell you like how many dots per inch should I print men'she look at all the selfies I take a lot of selfies excellent I just want to mention my nails please do not move your finger [Music] that is an insult to my cat wait I think I just realized what happened where it didn't print anything I think this thing was maybe in the lower position and not the Opera are we just printing it to low this whole time it says push down and then up okay then we've been doing it wrong I still blame the instructions for being so unclear and for there being three sets of them let's try a nice and simple design and see if we can get it right this time back up okay so yeah strap in Ben we're going for a read why does it not show you the camera when it's the printing well yeah really [Music] [ __ ] yeah that's how okay all right okay if it works oh you're really done with those others movie yeah I'm just a 30 year old lady trying to figure out technology now that we know what we're doing with this one that was the one they used in the tweet I'm in I'm locked you're doing great sweetie [Music] that's actually good oh it does nail art better than me it's too good this is not good this is the beginning of the end of the human race soon we will be printing our food I don't have you good you're like world hunger actually yes so this looks pretty accurate to me in terms of being close to the image provided by the gallery but clearly it's just a ink cartridge that just prints colors you know like it can't print Hollow okay one day Oh two nails version version hollow there's a thing that like don't people enjoy painting their nails and doing nail art and the actual like artistic process of that like maybe this can replace a nail salon to some extent but you can't replace artists with machines actually it's an interesting question [Music] can machines create art or simply reproduce it an artificial intelligence could create an image is that a machine creating art a machine has to draw its knowledge from somewhere so if someone is programming that machine but at a certain point machines will just be programming themselves because they're smarter than us that's true I think personally it's always gonna look better if it was professionally hand-painted irrespective of that even if a machine could perfectly recreate something it's like the difference between going to a dinner party where like someone has put a lot of love into preparing like a meal versus someone who just gets it catered there's a big difference between someone who's gone through the process and really put some like passion into their cooking it's so sentimental Ben so are you saying that these robots will never be as good as me yet now because I put my heart into it don't think I could replace you with a robot go to my Instagram select own image good Gucci just imagine the possibilities you could print anyone's face on your nails your mom your dad you'll crush and freak him the [ __ ] out good I know I stretched the image a little weird that's kind of terrifying I could give it hair hello everyone it's me Christine again Wow I know what I'm doing for your birthday now yeah never mind I'll keep it a surprise I'm really impressed I have to be honest are you sure I'm ship it when I got this I kind of just assumed that it wouldn't really work that well but as it turns out we just couldn't figure it out yeah there's a bit of a learning pin so much of a learning curve that the next day I tried it again well hallo it's me voiceover Christine again do you miss me I'm just gonna go ahead and put a peel off base coat down first because I prefer easy removal especially with gel polish and now as for the instructions or one of the sets of instructions anyways gel base coat and make that [ __ ] full minute apply the nail mask also known as liquid latex paint on the special print gel which is quite tricky to work with it's really thick and it feels like I'm putting thick glue on my nails that [ __ ] foam innit cool now put the finger in the robot and print Wow well that looks cool but I don't know what that is look I can see you now what the hell is in this machine now I tried to give the camera a good look inside the nail robot but it was really dark in there so it's not the best footage but here we have the nail printing robot printing a photograph of Zeiler on my thumbnail it didn't translate so well but now you peel off the liquid latex and this is what we got it's very clear that some designs worked a lot better than others but either way when you zoom right into the nail I think the little printer dots are still pretty obvious but let's add a glossy gel taco from baked that [ __ ] for another minute the glossy taco does help conceal the little dots slightly by kind of blending the print job together I guess but overall because of the print quality I still think people could tell the difference between painted nail art and printed nail art looks like we're gonna need some laser nail art printers in the next upgrade okay there's still something that people enjoy about actually doing the nail art that this machine cannot replace you can't replace me [ __ ] that being said if you really want someone's face on your nails and you want it to look very accurate this product is for you speaking of not doing as much nailer 20:19 I'm gonna continue to do whatever the [ __ ] I want on this channel sometimes I'm
