Testing Five Car Gadgets, Part 4

welcome back everybody now today i'm taking a look at five car gadgets this is my fourth car gadget collection i'm gonna test them out and see if they actually work in today's video no preliminaries necessary let's get right to the first item the car vinyl air freshener this is a car air freshener in the shape of a record player and it actually clips onto the vent of your car and the record spins when the air blows across it and it also provides a nice natural scent there's a lot of these on amazon this one was sent to me by vinylcar airfreshener.com but there are quite a few of these just like this so let's check it out i guess these are the the scented records we have three of them interesting well that is different and that's it that's it for the packaging good minimal packaging i was able to find some reviews on amazon for uh similar looking items the pros on amazon said it's easy to put together nice scent and a great conversation piece the only real con i found on amazon people said the scent doesn't last or doesn't exist at all but even people that complain about the scent said it was still a pretty cool novelty idea let me open one of these up here slips right on there i guess the record kind of spins when it blows across let's go to the car and try it out there are three cents this one says some i think new york city 95 maybe this one says i can't tell what that one says macon something this one says mustache party let me take a sniff mustache party kind of a men's cologne sent to it not a bad men's clone but men's cologne new york city smells like the last one same scent it's the same scent how about this one this one has no scent wow that's a ver this one has almost no scent whatsoever maybe a faint dryer sheet smell but almost no scent i'll go with one of the other ones so what you do is is just pop it on the record player and you're good to go installation is pretty simple it just has a clip here the air flows through there to make the record player spin and you have an arm here that doesn't do anything it's just for decoration before i get started i was i've been playing around with this and i realized that to get this to spin consistently your first instinct to just stick it on there straight but you really have to angle at the same angle that the vents are pointed so if the vents are pointed this way you want to have it tilted a little bit to the left after messing around a little bit i got the right angle and even on low it's spinning quite well here's my air on low i'll keep turning up and see how fast it's going whoa that's on high i should also point out that this the record player arm sometimes seems to slow it down so if you put you can kind of just toggle it so it's not on there but eventually it seems to touch it so i have it right at the edge it's a little bit touchy if you get in the right spot then it doesn't bother it but sometimes it actually slows it down like that so i don't really smell the air freshener when it's turning and the air is blowing right at me i'm not sure that's really the idea behind it maybe it is but when i stopped my car went out and got back in i did i did smell it in the car so i there's a smell there it's just very faint i tend to feel like the air freshener is kind of a an extra feature that's not really the main thing it's called an air freshener but it's really just a cool decoration as far as i can tell but people get in your car and they see that they don't care if it's an air fresh or not they just think that it looks pretty cool as an air freshener it's all right but as a cool decoration it's pretty good so i kind of like this product even though i think the air freshener is probably a bit below average it's a great decorative piece and i think that most people whether the air freshener works that well or not will still enjoy it i have noticed that when i get back in the car i kind of faintly smell the air freshener i don't think it's going to last very long but that doesn't really matter because once you see it spinning like that it's just more of a good decoration than anything [Music] this is a car tissue holder i paid 879 for it this is how it came from amazon no elaborate packaging which is fine let's open this up the claims for this one are helps keep your car neat clips on the sun visor with easy access easy to install easy to refill and reuse works on most cars trucks and boats and rvs size is nine by five by one point six and a half people on amazon who liked it said it was well made convenient to have the tissues on hand ideal for people with allergies most of the cons seem to focus on tissues being cheap and difficult to refill while others said it blocks the mirror from being accessible on the passenger side i'll have to see how those feel they look like more like napkins and tissues and then they just flip over the uh the visor should be easy enough let's take a look at the tissue holder there was just a plastic film over that tear it off ready to go there were comments on amazon saying the tissues that were not comfortable there are also people saying that it's hard to refill or find refills that would fit it but it just has these two clips on the back go over your visor should be easy enough oh and you can take it you can refill it right here it just slides right out slide it over it's going to block my mirror so i won't have my mirror now but let's see we got let me see how the tissues feel these tissues feel okay they're they're they could be worse i felt you know gas station tissues that are worse than this they're not the best tissues ever but they're not terrible i have some refills here some potential refills at least we'll see how that goes let me drive around a little bit and see how it works in motion because that's uh sitting sitting in a parking lot is one thing driving around is a completely different story allergies kicking in i can't need a tissue how easy is it nah pretty easy i really don't use this mirror that much so it's not really a problem for me to lose the mirror i know that some people would probably not like losing the mirror but i i don't think i ever use that mirror [Music] actually as i'm driving here i actually do need a tissue right now [Music] i won't show you me using it but i do need one right now well as someone who has almost gotten an accident fishing around for a tissue when i i sneezed while driving this is quite handy i i actually actually kind of like it but if it can't handle refills that's going to be a deal breaker for me so what i'm going to do now is i'm going to park the car and see what kind of refills can fit in here i'm also going to try some some wipes as well as is it works great how easy is it to refill that's going to be a big issue let's try right now can it be refilled that is the question let's first open this up and see what's in here all right so this is what we got i think they do sell refills but i'd prefer to refill myself with something i can just buy locally now it's almost impossible to find a tissue box this thin so that's not even practical right so i got some tissues in here this obviously is not going to fit but let me pull some out of here and just try to slide them in and see what happens can it be that easy let's see it'd be nice it was that easy let's see oh wow it's not someone in the comments were saying that soft tissues would not dispense easily oh wow oh man that's not that's that's bad terrible terrible hmm well that's a disappointment but all is not lost let's try something else how about some antibacterial wipes i know it's not really designed for that but let's try anyways it's gonna need this this film to be able to close on top to keep it moist inside otherwise it's going to dry out let me see my question is if i can actually use that film strip with this opening let me say well maybe maybe like that i don't know it kind of barely closes too because it's so thick i don't i don't have a good feeling about this let's see so i can do that pull the wipe down and push it back maybe it might work it might work with wipes so a lot of people online were saying that soft tissues did not do well and i believe them something more sturdy like these wipes maybe it was a bit of a kind of a mickey mouse to get it to work right but still disappointed about the soft tissues i'm going to keep trying to see if i can find something else that will work in here but right now i'm not too optimistic so after taking this out of my car i figured i would give it a shot and see if i can make some progress with this tissue holder because i'm a little bit worried that it's going to run through theirs and not have anything that fits in there so what i want to try this time is trying less maybe i overstuffed it the first time when i tried regular tissues in there i also went to three different stores trying to find this those smaller tissue boxes can't find they're not very common so it's not very common it's not going to be very useful if you have to fish around looking for something that size so i'm going to try these tissues i have a much smaller stack this time let's see what happens all right so i'm just going to kind of slide them in there and i'm going to get the first one started all right so far so good yes yes yes oh i actually made it work what do you know let me see if i can keep going that was very slow though that's not realistic i mean usually they're hanging down from there oh maybe maybe that was going to work i had to put this back out in the car and try in a real world situation so maybe just maybe i had overstuffed the first time that's kind of a pain you're going to have to put only a few at a time but as long as it works that's all that really matters hopefully that's the solution to this one i'm going to try one more time see what happens all right tissue refill test time with the soft tissues put in there that they didn't provide let's see how it goes oh wow it's literally right in my face this is this is what i'm seeing i don't even see the road wow i guess you're gonna have to just kind of push it up and hope it doesn't flop down in front of your face you might have to find tissues that aren't so soft but i think most people want soft tissues i don't know a tough one well let's see if it works though oh not bad i think it's i think it's gonna work but it's it's right in my way i literally can't see anything as far as the tissues go i had them on the driver's side because that's where i was testing them i think if you had them on the passenger side the soft tissues might be more of an option but they do hang down kind of to block your view if you do have on the driver's side it's kind of hard to find refills that size so you're going to have to just kind of stuff tissues in there it doesn't seem like it works as well with soft tissues i got it to work i feel like it's something i wanted to like i'm hoping maybe come out with an improved version that fixes some of the problems because it is a good idea [Music] this is an anti-slip dashboard pad highly rated on amazon it's a much smaller than i expected on the picture it seemed like it was going to be at least twice this size i paid 8.99 for this let's check it out well i have two of them so i think i'm not supposed to pull this off until i'm ready to use it so i will not do that the claims are this is a non-slip mounting pad that can be used to prevent slippage of phones cameras keys and more measures 6.3 by 5.1 inches safe between -20 degrees celsius and 120 degrees celsius can be rinsed and reused people on amazon who like to said it works well holds everything in place and even leaves no residue easy to restore the stickiness by rinsing it off among those who didn't like it quite a few people said it stuck to the phone but not the dashboard while others said it left behind it difficult to remove residue on their dash all right here we go got a nice clean dash and it's that's hot i don't have my thermometer here but it's hot insulation is supposed to be pretty simple let me just put it on the dash here how's that feel oh wow it's holding it put it face down that's holding up pretty good i normally wouldn't trust my iphone on the dash but oh what's this is sticking to the phone and not the dash that's what some people said was happening is that a big deal i don't know i'm kind of impressed by how well it's holding it it does kind of come off when you pick the phone up though i've seen these advertised with keys on there let's try that nothing you have your keys on the tash but you never know this is something that will definitely slide off the dash around a corner let's see nothing they're not moving and the keys were a resounding success that would have slid off normally let me see comes off nicely let me try something heavier this is actually a very heavy phone charging bank let's see oh that's not moving i don't think it's moving let me see it doesn't seem to matter which way i put it on there i'm gonna drive with this for a few minutes too all right one more test my actual iphone with no case here we go now this corner right here would normally knock a phone off the dash easily and it's not moving it didn't move first use pretty impressive phone held nicely i'll do now is take this inside rinse it off and reuse it tomorrow and see if it works just as well after it's been rinsed off all right day two i'm going to try another test here i rinsed the one i used yesterday off under water i let it sit i'm going to compare it against the one that hasn't been used and see if the unused one is better than the one that has been rinsed off they say you can rinse and reuse and as good as new let's find out here's an unused dash mat i'm gonna put it like that here's the used dash mat i'm gonna put them side by side just kind of move my hand across it let me see this one feels a little bit less sticky i don't know about that this one feels like it's sticky not so sticky i put the power bank on the used one for now i'll put my actual phone on the unused one drive around a little bit and see what happens i'm not too optimistic but let's see what happens [Music] obviously the one that hasn't been washed is working fine this one i was worried about it doesn't seem as sticky but i guess it's sticky enough and of course your dash and the things you put on there will be different so your mileage will certainly vary all right these mats have been sitting in my car for a couple days now in a direct heat let's see if there's any marks well there's marks but are those permanent marks they're just from temporarily from that being there those were not permanent marks they came right off so i would say that in my experience it does not leave marks on the dash so as far as the car mat goes i was a little bit just pleasantly surprised after seeing some negative comments on amazon i was a little bit worried but i didn't have any of the negative experiences that the people reporting them did on amazon so to me this product worked quite well [Music] this is the farsala all-in-one trashcan this was sent to me unsolicited into my po box but typically costs about 16 to 19 bucks it says thank you you're welcome oh it folds out i guess this is where you put your trash that's interesting i'm trying to figure this out here it looks pretty it's pretty easy before i get to this the claims are that it's an all-in-one trash can with two removable liners adjustable tissue holder where is that at is that in here oh yeah and they say will hold any size tissue box we shall see leak proof design mesh pockets for storage wear those at over here large capacity allows use for toys drinks or even a travel cooler people on amazon who liked it said it was versatile easy to empty and quite well made the cons on amazon says it doesn't stand upright gets in the way and doesn't stay closed i've captioning not liner inside well available put it in there and the liner has velcro and there's actually a second liner you can use this one gets dirty you have to wash it out you have another one ready to go that's very handy there are clips on the side where you can put a trash bag on or you can even use to use store bags which i think i'm going to use since i have so many of them there are storage pouches on the side each side and then here's the tissue dispenser and actually it's velcro also so you can stick your box in there and it can adjust to whatever size box you have open it up pull your tissues out i got this target bag here just put the handle on the clip here the only thing i've really noticed about this i don't like is that it closes with a magnetic clasp but the magnet's super weak very weak the magnet's a bit a bit disappointing everything else i like about it so far let me put the let me put a tissue box in here and see how that goes so you cannot put a full-sized tissue box there you have to be something small i've got some hand wipes here i'm not sure how it's going to work with this opening i have to figure that out let's see here [Applause] the problem with wipes is you don't want to leave it open it's going to dry out i really can't i don't know if i can really use wipes in this how about the tissues from my tissue holder let's try that all right well it does hold them but there's nothing holding on the side so i mean you gotta have this i guess so let's close this up let's use the entire ensemble together and see how it goes so you have a nice big strap here this that's kind of good let me see i definitely got to adjust that like the uh this is the ricky ricardo special i can play babalu while i'm driving let me adjust this here i'm not sure i really like it right here i mean if you're someone sitting here what are they gonna do it's gonna be like right in there right in their face even if i can mount it that high it would still kind of be in the way so i don't know at least in my car this is a good place for it i do like how it has this this opening here instead of just having it wide open you actually it encloses the trash boom gone now my back seat i've got this kind of centered console here i pull that down and put the trash can there it fits perfectly look at that even this slides right that's nice though you see i actually have some tissues i used yesterday let me try it there it goes gone i like it now we're talking and even even the weak magnet doesn't really matter here because it's being held in place so you get some tissues here can i fit a big cup let me see giant starburst cup uh i don't think so it's not going to fit it's got an old receipt here let me try this tissue holder one more time i'm not real sure about this this seems like it's not a very good design because it's nothing's really holding it in there maybe if you leave a tissue like halfway out it'll keep it in place maybe i don't know in the back of my car i actually kind of like it here got our trash here easy to remove the only problem about this spot is that even though i can use the trash can nicely my storage pockets are kind of covered up so i really can't use them there so i'm going to keep using this for a few days and i'll let you know if anything changes i'm not sure that i have a perfect spot for it yet this is a pretty good spot but i lose my storage so i'll keep using it and let you know how it goes it's time to take a closer look at the tissue issue their amazon listing says that it will work with any tissue box i don't think it said some i don't think it said many i think it said any and i take issue with that tissue statement because i don't think it will work with any tissue box so you'll see here that's not going to work not going to work on the side not going to work this way they said any size let's see oh that's definitely not going to work any size huh what if i just stick some tissues in there i know definitely not ideal but let's try this all right got it started still doesn't seem that secure see it's going to move around doesn't have any sides to it which i'm not real thrilled about but it is working but once you have this tissue pulling out of there would you leave that up just kind of flopping around there i don't know i think i'm going to have to go boxless for the tissues i think that's the best way to do it i was looking at the amazon comments quite a few people were complaining about the tissues on there so i think the tissue feature is probably its weakest link i like the trash can part the part that actually closes up so you don't have the trash kind of open i really like that storage compartments probably not for me but i can see how it'll be used for some people i also want to try this in the front seat before i wrap this thing up all right here is the final configuration they showed which is the front seat so you're driving somewhere by yourself this would be a nice convenient you can reach over throw some trash away now let's see if the tissues work because this is the refill i did last night let's see oh i don't know about this i guess it works i guess it works i think it works so if you're a solo driver this might be a good i think this is actually a really good spot for it as long as nobody else in the car i'm a little bit torn on the trash can i think that it works really well i like the trash can part itself i like how the opening closes up there's some pot pockets on the sides those are well i think the tissue does not work well they say it can work with any tissue box i found that it doesn't work with hardly any tissue boxes it's also open on the sides i just don't think the tissue really adds anything to it i still think it's worth something to consider for the price [Music] this is the varsk four in one car vacuum tire inflator digital gauge led light so not only is this a vacuum for your car but also a tire inflator led light digital display preset auto shutoff 15 foot cord 150 psi 12 volt dc i paid 65.99 for this but last time i checked it was 41 bucks so i don't know what's up with that but i paid top dollar for it so hopefully i get top dollar quality out of it oh there's a lot in there they say the vacuum provides a strong cyclone suction with hepa filter while the inflator can fully inflate a tire in about six minutes good for balls and other inflatables not for larger vehicles that must be the hepa filter does have attachments as well i even have a carry bag here some user manual gotta read that over now the people on amazon who like this let's say it has a nice long cord people like the inconvenience of the inflator and also said the attachments for the vac are quite handy among the cons on amazon there were several complaints about poor suction while others complain of overheating and even smoke looks like there's another filter already in there so this must be a replacement that seems kind of nice all right well let me read this manual over and get started the first summer actual test i should point out they do include a bag here it's got some different inflation nozzles it's got one for a basketball here it's got an extra fuse so they definitely hook you up on this crevice attachment and then this one's probably more of a general attachment they include this as well for inflating your tires it's a 15 foot cord so i've got it in my car uh in there so it's this is as far as i can reach it so this is about your range 15 feet and what i've got here is a mat this is when i put my back seat when i want to take bailey in the car it's got dog hair all over it it may not even be a fair test but i'm going to do it anyways i don't care we'll see how well this vacuum actually works so let's get started forward for vacuum and pull back for inflation there's also an led light which i probably don't need right now because it's daytime here we go i don't expect miracles with all this dog hair but it does feel like like an average hand vac this is with no attachment at all though let me try an attachment oh look at this [Music] it feels like a normal car vac it doesn't seem much better than any other car vac i've used you know based on how much hair there was that's not so bad [Music] dog air man so much dog hair so far it's working like a normal vacuum but let's see some of the other features like the inflator all right the inflator is very simple just attach one end that's the other end see what a surprise my tire is actually kind of low probably because i let some air out so i'm supposed to set this to where i want it to be i'm gonna go with 36 pounds and we should be able to just hit it [Music] nice chef on its own sweet it worked i like when things work right the first time the vars does not say that it's for air mattresses now they give you a few nozzles that will work on a lot of smaller things like a bicycle tire or basketball but some of the air mattresses i've seen have pretty large openings i'm not sure if it's going to work with all those or not it's an average handheld vacuum and inflator it's not going to replace an air compressor but it's pretty good if you're needing something to pinch i think for the price that i paid over 60 bucks it's a bit steep but in the low 40s maybe something to consider well that's all i've got this is a fun collection if you've tried any of these tell me what you think in the comments below i appreciate you
