what's going on guys so we're here with Bill from heat performance him in his son have put together this car so give me the story what do we got here it's a 2006 acura RSX okay it's basically got a stock engine in it but it's as the GT 35 turbocharger and hold each works fuel system sweet but other than that almost all stock okay so you got fuel rail injectors fuel the whole feel rail air regulator yeah return line everything sweet you guys went above and beyond there what manifold is it it's a CX racing X racing yeah manifold all of the intercooler yeah make it fit doesn't seem like anything it's yeah yeah and is it on Honda or k-pro or Honda k-pro 85 sweetness of plate stop that right on what size injectors thousands or thousands right on and is this your son's first car yes oh man this is gonna be a riot doing very well at school and he's going to become an engineer graduating right on about a week or so sweet you got your license already got any tickets yet oh man we're in trouble now so Brent this is his kids first car and he hasn't got no tickets yet so you setting him up for it does it got full exhaust two whole exhaust got a cutout though okay there we go and the sensors before they cut out honestly yeah so it actually has both of the factory and add a switch to the hole that's the comdata told me and to have wide back right off of and that's an analog zero it's analog fill this out [Music] [Music] different fuel calibration yeah yeah we may have also took a numbers wrong yeah this is the one they have set up or flex-fuel and what brand is that one quite bad hands okay a TSX at all we should see if they got any before that do that real quick I still have some mess over it it's a white man so when you do this or you start you start with like making sure that the fuel is right yep making sure the timing is last so we'll we'll take pull timing and we'll do that stuff now and that's where we will start off with the team we'll make things kind of richer and safer and creep up to what we're after that way you stop blasting then all of a sudden everything's older well that was fun yeah yeah so but you can see that this so this map is definitely just a generic one other their plug-in Maps or whatever and you can see here on the B tech side they've already got a big and blocked out and this particular cam is these the tables are pretty close to right we may add a little angle up here but will no matter what will taper it out how this pans designed it as it goes up take it away some of the newer ones the Cape Horn and seas and that kind of stuff like their finish numbers in the 30s and they'll be in the 50 40 50 brain what it wants how that careful and in different cams like aftermarket cams want different can you increase the number of what is that so we're essentially changing the cam gear angle we're advancing it okay and so we're getting some low-end grunt to it and then as we go up if we were to leave it at that angle we would actually kill the top-end because all of a sudden it's not breathing is good because where we've got it locked but tapering that away all of a sudden we freeing it up tap the air come in and get back out so you know the whole thing is just an air pump so we want as much in there as we can as fast again back out repeat the process and cleaning out the dead air and making [Music] smooth no we're doing you know just kind of feeling out where it's gonna go and everything's just kind of got to be smooth you get craziness you know out in areas then you know there's some or some type of mechanical issue or there's something else going on to make it you know are some dad is wrong or whatever [Music] [Applause] [Music] I that's what I'd say to you oh yeah hey Jamie we do need to change the plugs he just reminded me when he checked that he's watched the videos he's on top of it that's like using my first step all right we get Jamie changing the plugs and we got bill over here gapping them just like a scientist right now bro I know I probably need a pair myself but maybe a week well so with that yeah we'll take those out do you want these [Music] and you see how we're treating him used to be a snap-on rep and we're giving him Mac tools I don't even think about that [Laughter] poor guy the stuff you don't think about [Music] not a bad place to start shir a good [Applause] yeah Wow [Music] so there you go how much more running on the dot horsepower $6.00 house of booze and we're still a little on the heavy side all right you realize you just pulled it all the way through first pole oh yeah well we didn't we made 400 for a little bit yeah it wasn't just a go look how smooth that is those like I was pretty good for winging putting more fuel in the top I pulled a little bit yeah we're at 10:15 most of that pull but on the light stuff it needs some still yeah you know it was always a compromise with the carburetor yeah so that when you had crazy camshafts and everything right inside lower rpm and some fuel injections some fuel injectors are the same way the latencies are real lazy or the injectors are lazy so you're you're having to think ahead the amount of time it takes for that solenoid to open and then come back [Music] [Music] you can really make a job that's awesome borrowed Jew man or Oh - that's awesome this is a really good bill for sure how much do you want now to be running yeah actually it's going to yeah heck yeah it's not a racecar yeah yeah it's just a nice fun little Cruiser yeah [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] all right [Music] on a mission that pool oh man 4:45 I can't even see me tech anymore that was 445 you can't even see VTEC seem anymore and it's like smooth yeah that was bad this thing this thing at 12 pounds of booze would make 500 hour we do the gear based this is my table I like but these so 29% that was that about nine pounds of boost eight and a half nine pounds so on here you can see 30% duties says six pounds or whatever so we are we already know that's gonna be like right here I could probably put 31 and six pounds was the gate so really any of this can be you know 15 control-j Oh oh yeah troll chuckles 2930 let's pray realistic what about you so then we just come in here and if we want that 29 pound beast or whatever we just basically make this say up you know nine if we want to spool faster like bow down in here we'd put you know like 25 pounds you know so that'll make that want to ramp up but the way this thing Ori ramps up it just probably blow the tires off anyway but first year since we know first year may not hook up at all I'll sit there like five pounds even though it'll just be six and then second gear the car can start to hook up and then usually I get like 7000 in this range you know we can maybe say you know eight seven or eight pounds or something so then you start having it come in a little harder so these means could you still say six really so then it doesn't do much any duty until it gets into here and then oh well want to say seven and a half just so it picks up something so if second gear will start giving her a little boost and then third fourth fifth six or whatever it will all be that kind of power figure ten so that my car is a little more controllable even the four hundred four hundred ranges pretty hard plus on the street but but it's better so those kind of things you can manipulate and all you got to do is you know look at this graph from what we've seen on the dyno now and and change those numbers obviously anything below really below twenty five twenty percent it's like next to nothing - it's like how the Hertz rate is barely in the area I'll come through anyway if anything at all it's so much how its reacting and they'll start using all these tables when it sees 1.3 pounds of boost you can put negative numbers in here but the only issue with that is it makes the solenoid work win all the time all the time so I mean I've on some guys how they drive up that to three pounds just because while they're driving there and boost you know like 50 you're cruising it's like I'm still going so like just to save its life sometimes you may move that upper band whatever the quick spool stuff I would I don't ever use these myself it's a cool feature when you're using that fixed duty cycle deal and I'll bring the power and real hard but I do the same thing just right here by making the columns what I want so I wanted to spool it's like I could make this thing probably stand way up but it's a lot more stress on the engine yeah by putting like you know 30 pound boost numbers back here so then the solenoid tries don't work super hard and it puts a lot of pressures at the top of the dome hey that ramps it's like it's like taking the vacuum line off the side of the gate and putting it just to the top so it gives it everything it can and then what it does is then it brings in that solenoid when you get to your set point but that's also you can determine that through here and I can manipulate it pretty easy by just putting a big boost value here because they make that the duty cycle the silliman just work real hard right away so if you had a spooling problem like I have one car in here he had a 4-pound spring but it was a 16 millimeter gate on that case series so literally without any boost control it makes 2 pounds of boost because that gate would just crack open slightly and just dump all the air cuz how big the gate was yeah so what we did or you know I had to really manipulate these numbers a lot to get to stand up and then cruise out just because I had overcome to like a spring and that's where the four port is nice because you can just hooking up whatever spring rigs in there and still make forty pounds instead of like a three part where you're easily good for you know sometimes double-double and a half of what the dates I actually had a three for when I first put together right changes it to this right and you made the right move because you're exactly right it can't control it as good and that's why a lot of race cars you'll see twin three ports but they're doing the same thing you would do it a four part but they're just doing it with two separate solenoid he's they're just using one sort that cleans everything up this is the problem yeah the four port was a nice nice addition to everything like we pushed three ports for years but once it's about four foot was in there I made so much more sense I bought this report like years ago I just had it in my garage I started looking at like how they hook up and how the four port works they go looked like strategy was a lot of strategies alright yeah yep while there's still a lot of tuners that shy away from them for port but that's you know a lot of is manipulated by what Hertz frequency you're doing and and listening to what what you're doing you know but once you get them bow then they're just it's awesome you can make it do whatever you want just about I mean I can't still make it spool up at 3,000 rpm on some churros but but I can sure make them come in a lot harder yeah sometimes too hard why did I didn't understand at first because you know I'm from the old days and we did do some turbos but it was based off of whatever spring you had in there that's what you got that's what you got now or maybe you've lifted off the the line line made it bleed out or that's bleed out yeah I still trap your guys yet but go and then when they came out with solenoid I think we do that yeah like oh that's just a Mac bow yeah so it is pop machine if pop machines air truck brakes like I mean they're used first so I go oh that's what if this is I just go I'm just gonna buy with those Mac valves cuz that's all it is the Mac valve yeah if everyone just slaps their sticker on it yeah cuz I mark self-assemble you know I know this I got a sticker on it but that's just some Mac mouth yeah it's pretty crazy and there's two separate ones so ones inverted and ones not but to all these software's nowadays will run either one they don't care cuz some are a hundred percent open and some 100 percent closed so you just gotta know that strategy which one yours is yours is already right but there are some cars I I fight for a second cuz it's like making all the crazy boosts and oh it's already over negative comfort the other way and hold it closed yeah alright let's roll I'm ready excellent [Applause] [Applause] by me [Music] vacuum leak [Music] a vacuum leak there got it oh honey wait yeah that was 498 that's not what we're after well it loves it now what came off the vacuum line to the intake manifold liked by the injectors a little no no the one from that coolant part over stuff crazy back in the day you'd fight so hard to do that like now it's like let's just go whatever I do want to figure out what happened because it's like we did have it set to so we had 30% duty at 10 pounds of boost at 29 percent duty cycle on the boost control we made the 440 or 450 order before 44 45 yeah 445 and all we did was set up the boost table real rough real quick pick we made significantly more which is normally awesome but you're trying to Karl here but just shows you like cuz I told you 12 pounds of beans where I thought I'd make 500 you have 12 pounds of boost he'll pound the bases with it made and our boost SEC we had something adding boost duty so we need to look at it because it says 36% so now we know 36% he's 12 pounds and we have that at 12 so that means there's another table that's adding something years it's also there's guys assumption ok ok ok so what happened was is this low high boost table was set to one of these one of these and always on so it was reading the high boost table so when we turned all this on this is the numbers that was in the high boost table so I was looking for 14 pounds which gave us that 36% this is recycle so I'm just gonna make sure that is off and it should be right back to our original low table yeah so you can put a switch on this [Music] yeah that nipple isn't barber doesn't have a lip on so we might want to grab a pair of needlenose or something up pull it tight needlenose or dikes cousin the temps come down [Music] [Music] [Music] that was so awesome yeah [Music] Morty 4:40 on the DA and found perfect now do you want to close the cutout that's what I'm real serious about that may be something pretty decent to you bringing that famous 25 bring that fan in earlier just okay it's kept us out of the 200s is it down yeah I think so just hold it once oh just one it sounds so different same thing with the cutout clothes [Music] yeah I'm all about life [Applause] [Music] or 10 30 horsepower difference 30 horsepower difference meant you can hear the wastegate so much with the exhaust closed so seven pounds reduced so it takes a pound away yes yeah it's great Jonathan that's what I was curious to see how much it was gonna suck it down with these with the cutout clothes definitely chokes up up top because our high was seven point eight pounds at 7600 and by the time we got to defeat we at six point eight so he's still steadily pulling boost because we're having back right here that's cool but let's one heck of a first car yeah don't get in too much trouble what's your saying cars will teach you what patience and how to cuss [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] now that was a well-built solid car whoo made some power was super easy to tune on super easy to work on he did all his own work he did all his they were prepared it was super prepared he stopped in three times in the past two months probably just asking questions and getting all of his ducks in a row and he had it on point he nailed it plugs he nailed right plugs he nailed it good job I was that was a lot of fun and a good time and I hope you guys learned a lot from it and took a lot from it and I hope he did too and yeah appreciate you guys hanging out and I'll see you tomorrow
