be able to get it in April during the week of praiseth on let me say hello to a dear dear friend who doesn't come by nearly as often as we wish he could but we understand why he's a busy man a busy pastor and he really doesn't need any introduction why don't I just say let's say hello to dr. Robert Schuller senior pastor of crystal cathedral and preacher on our of power television ministry they say the better known you are the shorter of the introduction how are you sir I am fantastic you look great thank you thank you I had heard you were near death's door and the doctors were trying to pull you through I wasn't didn't know it actually yeah afterwards now I find out that the doctors say I was probably 20 to 30 minutes from death really yeah see what happened is I opened an office in in Amsterdam for our European television ministry I flew non-stop from the KL from LAX to Amsterdam the head of my Dutch office picked me up in his car a Volvo and I'm not used to the car I moved fast and decided my head hit the roof of the car I didn't duck low enough and actually what I did was I broke a vein didn't know that two hours later when I got off to at the hotel I almost fainted out of the car that's weird and I had a whale of a headache I said to my two colleagues hey you guys can go out and take a canal ride I'm gonna go to bed just don't disturb me and I went up to bed and it was such a headache went down to the concierge do you have any aspirin they said yes it comes before in a packet no I knew you should never take more than two aspirins but once won't hurt I'm gonna take all four I took all four aspirins that thins the blood PIMs the blood so I hear I not know that I had ruptured a vein and that the vein was bleeding and taking the aspirin just allowed the blood to flow out eat more easily and because I put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door I gave orders to people don't disturb me at all I was in a situation where the blood could just flow out if I had been awaked you know people would have noticed I would have fainted but because of this the blood kept flowing and they found me next morning and ten hours later on the balcony and I was in a coma and thank God the my man in the Netherlands almost a fatal heart attack a year ago he knew there was only one hospital that could handle this kind of a case they could see I was comatose it took me the hospital immediately they shaved every hair off my head drilled holes pull the scalp back took the stick the bone off exactly like a jack-o'-lantern and it's a serious stuff we're talking yes it was the doctors said if you can't swim you can wade in the water up to your knees no problem do you Owais no problem your shoulders no problem to your mouth no problem the next step you can't handle it he said the amount of bleeding that had happened for ten hours he said it was like being in the water at this far so oh my I'm grateful oh my life oh thank the Lord any we're praying for you there are in the Crystal Cathedral three leading ministers leading because God put us in a role of leadership three pastors you know them all Robert Schuller one Carlos Ortiz and Bruce Larson all three came under a very serious attack and just in a matter of weeks actually Schuler almost died from an accident when Carlos lost his son and Bruce Larson he had surgery this morning thank God it's all removed no more to cancer any male it's over 50 years of age listening to me should go out and get the PSA blood test it can tell if there's a microscopic beginning of cancer Bruce did that so he's cured but just think the three top ministers in our ministry all came under an amazing attack and you know I don't preach much about the Satan because I guess I'm coming from a background where he attacks those that are very important and doesn't waste his time with a lot of people and you know the old story told by the Assembly of God preacher never forget it I heard him tell the story how Satan came to this preacher who was sleepy his face of the pillow wrong guy but I think that probably our ministry is important enough now for maybe Satan himself to make an attack against this but he lost on all three counts I mean fantastic Bruce Larson is terrific and when Carlos Ortiz is sensational thank thank you for your prayers microphone does the name Smith Wigglesworth mean anything to you I'll let you continue he was he was a great old actually he was a plumber from England that God called into a great healing and deliverance ministry and it's recorded that six people were literally raised from the dead under his ministry my father was present at a funeral where he literally lifted a dead cadaver out of casket spoke life into it and that broke up a funeral you might imagine this is documented his own wife he raised from the dead he had finished a a meeting somewhere and went back to his hotel room and literally saw the devil I mean a personal revelation of the devil he was there and this was of course before the days of electricity he was a turn-of-the-century evangelist and his account is that he simply picked up the candle looked over at the devil said oh you again and went to sleep pay no mind whatsoever so I guess that does say something about those who are on Satan's what 10 most wanted list but thank God we have victory and we have power over him in the name of thank you for your prayers do all of the CBN people you know TBN TBN what do they say well that's Pat Robertson his suitcase yes a suti via CBS only but you know our we have a mutual friend we have lots of mutual friends one is John Wimber yes and John heard about my accident and he came in to the hospital to call pray for me I don't remember him being there at all I was in intensive care for seven days and I have no memories at all but he came into the room and he and his wife extended their hands to pray for me and suddenly he said as it was reported to me he said this room is just filled filled but the presence of God and his hands just shook now I've never had that kind of an experience but that that was the result I am sure and I got over at 11,000 cards back here in letters so thank you Paul and thank you Jan and and I make it promise to you I am not the same person I was before I think well I don't know how to verbalize that without being misinterpreted I I'll take the chance I have such a profound love always had lousy but such a hunger to spend time with my children my grandchildren that's such a profound hunger to be with Christians such a profound passion to give away what I've got before I die and the most important thing I've got to give away is my faith yes I was it's profound passion let people know that once God did come to this earth in a human being his name was Jesus and he lived and he died for our sins and he rose again and he's alive tonight and through his holy spirit he can live through us and he is doing that through me and I feel him and I know it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me and but you knew all this before I know all this before and I preached all this before but I don't know why I have such a transcendent compulsion to share this more effectively you know what I think it is I think before my colleague was and I think it's still is is to try to communicate with intelligence to secular educated non-christian people where I'm coming from and why Christianity makes sense yeah I I still believe that but now having been so close to death I want to be with my family and my family are the believers so I think you'd find my sermons on our power some people would say so much more spiritual really oh yes others would say you so much more biblical and they'd say that's good I often prayed that he would become more Christian or more spiritual and that's because I think any time we're brought face to face with our mortality I think we say as the lawyers do time is now of the essence and we really need to make her our time count and you know my my family both sides mother so in deadside so many people lived into the nineties and and my mother's brother a minister lived to be 91 or 92 I worked 40 hours the last week in the church he's buried in the church cathedral gardens and I expect to live to be 95 sure expect to be preaching and I'm 29 years younger than normal in Seville and he preached for me this year so he did didn't he I heard that but you know I I want to thank you for the book for talking about my book tonight that you did so nicely there's a one of the best sentences that ever came out of my brain and I it's so good I'm sure God put it there it's yeah in this book I deal with the problem of suffering and it's not fair I think you know the title team is that closer to my grandchildren I have 13 grandchildren and you don't Paul Jana I look at these kids they're they're all being raised in Christian families they're all in homes where the Bible is read and the thing Christian songs and they go to Christian schools and they're in Sunday school every week all of my five children have wonderful Christian families my 13 grandchildren all Christian homes they're loved and they were nice clothes not expensive but nice clothes and clean clothes and and then my work still puts me into the lives of people who are victims of child abuse and terrible things you know on television the letters I get what you get and suddenly I realize children are not born equal my grandchildren are born to a privileged homes past two Sundays I spoken first Peter chapter 2 verse 9 you are a chosen generation you are a royal priesthood you are God's special people you know life is not fair but God is good and there's a sentence I told you about it's a great sentence don't get the facts of life mixed up and call a max of God or if you've got any brains and think you'll have to become an atheist yeah it's true and so too many people say this these are acts of God I don't think I probably thought I probably thought six months ago I would have said you Schuller banged his head on the roof of the car went to the hospital you know so much good has happened out of that accident I can't tell you what's happened to me what's happened to her ministry and the family and it's just incredible but I think I would have said you know I had fallen back at Romans 8:28 and said all things work together for good to those that love God keeps I think I would have said this was God's will that I hit my head I don't think that today I think I was clumsy I was clumsy and the cars real was too low and that's why I hit my head vein brook but God didn't do it God didn't do it and immediately evil did now and and and and to heal to save and it was not his will that I happened but he's the devil probably pushed you if you want to be could be but God was gonna see what now what good can I come out of it God always does means run around the devil that's my theology that so don't get the facts of life and I say in this book you know most of the suffering in that I look at its don't blame it on God it's the sin of human beings it's the selfishness of the attacker it's the greed doctor shooter if you'd walked in a bookstore and didn't know the Lord and pull this book out and took it home and read it what would you get out of it I think you would look at the chapter titles and probably be curious enough to look at the last chapter which is titled something like be fair to yourself become a believer I'm proud of that last chapter that that tells them all about let's skim them all here first of all can you give us an example in your own life of something that happened to you that was just grossly horrendously unfair from that we know about that mostly unfair that is that you could blame the sin of humanity yes all right some of the reactions of some of the press toward television evangelism when the scandals broke a tardis all with the same brush so when when when when they published things about anybody that's on television and don't do their research and write a negative story what can a person do in defense there was a paper local in Southern California that had a writer that was really attacking me and finally it had to stop I knew it had to stop the publisher knew it had to stop it was top but golly when that happens what can I do I could and it was a lie he couldn't go in the pulpit on Sunday morning and defend yourself people come to church not to get a load out to get a lift yeah and so I would say that was and you know I think you can relate to what I'm saying yes how did you deal with it I mean personally and as far as your congregation and I know the Lord has helped you yes grin and Barrett do you just go suffer and crying alone or how did you handle it you know what I can't even remember okay okay so I just pray that the precious Holy Spirit out there who deals and knows all truth will speak to the people who really care about us and do you know one time I read something about someone and I wondered if it was true and I went to the precious Holy Spirit and city pressures holders but you tell me is this true and just as clear as a bell I knew in my heart it was not a true story and the Holy Spirit will do that he he deals in truth and he he will let all of the partners that read lies about everybody everybody everybody everybody the Holy Spirit will deal with you in the you know what's true and what is a lot and I just pray that the partners will do that that's how I deal with it see it doesn't make me what the papers say no matter what they say about me that doesn't make me that but I know a lot of people perceive ya I can tell you you asked what I did now I remember I never ever commented on it in my platform or from my pulpit and but it did reach a point where I had to go to the publisher of this particular publication and he's a good man and express myself he said and he's a Christian he wants to do right and he everything was corrected after I left his office I respect him now because he took things and we all make mistakes you mean sweet mild-mannered doctor Schuler got a little exercise that day did you I always exercise to well-supported but what else do we have at 37 the game of blame and shame what do we do with what's the subject here in chapter 2 well you know when something unfair happens the first thing we want to do is blame somebody of course and blaming is a negative reaction but many people it is you know this is a different book than many that I've written this is like a bunch of stories from guideposts magazine put together in a hard killer full of anecdotal material a little story short stories some of my books are very heavy and it's sentence to sentence idea build upon you if this is I love number three disappointed yeah discouraged sometimes but defeated yeah I never see defeat is a is a reaction that you choose fantastic has Bob Schuler ever really gotten discouraged yes yes I have gotten a little discouraged but it doesn't last long because always in that mood i I find myself intuitively instinctively becoming an optimist again please oh I don't think I should answer this one but I will okay okay you forced me to do this there is a there is a magazine that just went on sale today in all of the supermarkets of America it's the National Enquirer no brother okay my pictures on the cover oh really yes I see how how to lick the depression that can come from the recession that's the subject of that's right I don't want to sell that publication that's not my business to sell anything but they did print 10 points from a dr. Schuler sermon on how to keep from getting depressed and boy it's one of the best ten points I've ever you mean they they quoted you accurately oh you bet they did really yeah if you don't mind it you asked me to say this but go buy it read it it's really good all right that's that's a very good that's usually it I recommend it be used for a birdcage line defeated never have you ever been defeated yes but I guess I didn't like golf well enough to be okay chapter 4 when life's not fair turn to prayer as long as everything of course that is self-evident that's tough though sometimes when you're hurting when you're discouraged when you've been beaten down the last thing in the world you want to do is pray what does you do it you just grit your teeth and do it though no I I just my wife is sensational we've been married 42 years this summer and I just want to talk to her all the time especially if I need guidance or if I because things aren't working out just right and the Lord is is just a little closer to me and my wife because I can talk to him even though we're not I don't see him and I really think I live but what's in Paul says be in prayer constantly at all times they turned their outrage into courage okay turn their outrage into courage to do without everybody's angry at somebody once in a while and that's a negative reaction so it's just wonderful stories of different fear outrage terror unbelief apprehension dread if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all you know what my prayer is for this book I believe more people have doubts about Christianity and more people have inclinations to battle with agnostic tendencies because of one thing if there's a good God in the world why does he let these bad things happen to his people yes and there and and I hope that this one book that I finally have written at the age of 65 I'm praying and believing that hundreds of thousands of people will read it if not hardcover in paperback a couple hundred thousand companies I think you're out in the hardcover now and it's been on national bestseller list and I think I just say anybody at everybody by the book I can say that here because this isn't my church by the book and give it to people that have doubts because if we can and I think I deal with it so simply why would God let bad things happen to good people and that show in a nutshell that's a dumb question it's a dumb question because nobody knows the answer and I don't claim to have the answer but what I do say is the right question is what happens to good people when bad things happen to them that's a good question we know the answer to that they become better people softer mellower more compassionate more understanding more sympathetic that's the proof that God is good and he takes the bad things of life and we're changed we're always changed trouble doesn't leave you where it found you never and so the good people were they experienced unfairness they don't react with bitterness but they they become more prayerful so if this book yeah I make it so clear which you know and all of your guests keep saying I'm sure God had a choice he wanted to create a creature that could be in his own image that can be creative and imaginative that could love be a creature that could really love and you you can't love you couldn't create a creature like that unless he gave him free well you know I was at a world psychiatric the Congress in Paris many years ago and we were in a discussion group in fact Skinner was there I think an atheist and he died last year I believe and I had some real debates in arguments with him but the point that they were making was it some day through genetic engineering we will probably be able to create human beings incapable of not of anything that isn't bluffing in other words just totally loving creatures through genetic engineering okay and they wouldn't be able to not love do you know what I said please I said in that case they wouldn't be able to love because there cannot be a yes unless there's a no right love isn't love unless it's a choice I have to be able to choose to reject you doubt you not love you and if I don't have that choice if I don't have the capability of doing that then if I just love you love you love you doesn't have any value at all love is a decision did this esteemed group hear you well I think they did because really some books came out after that love is a decision right this is about 22 years ago and some good stuff has been written over Chapter seven violated victimized mistreated discover freedom through forgiveness yeah you know what I discovered not long ago the ability to welcome forgiveness and exercise forgiveness is a very distinctively Christian I never knew that I thought a lot either even lots of humanists would like to forgive then I had a call the Crystal Cathedral about two years ago from a very famous person and I can't name the name very famous still today a woman she wanted to see me she lives in New York City I was so impressed that she even knew who I was that once seemed isn't sure she belongs to another religion and she was doing a major book and she carefully how I verbalize this at any rate when I was all finished she said I watch you every Sunday in television New York I have for 15 years I said I was flabbergasted I keep getting confused some people that I think I was sure they watched like anyone was this person was one and she said I want my picture taken with you I said I would like that and we walked outside in the gardens and there is a statue of Jesus of the Sheep there's some bronze there's another marble statue of Job in his suffering then there was the statue a bronze statue of Jesus kneeling the woman's caught in adultery and she hides herself in a sheet this is a three-ton bronze statue you know and and the scripture is that him that is without sin cast the first stone and that had just been unveiled so I said to this famous person let's have our picture taken from this tattoo and she looked at it she said recognize the statue of Jesus recognize the woman caught in adultery they says no I don't think so frankly I can't help foregiveness she said let's take job so he walked back and she and I were photographed in front of job that's what it hit me my gosh because this is a remarkably wonderful person by golly and since then I have discovered or I've become more aware of the fact but if you leave the Christian faith you're back to what Jesus grew up in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but I say it to you Jesus was such a revolutionary when he advocated forgiveness is there a little key for those who know they should forgive but oh the hurt and the depth of the bitterness toward another individual we have to forgive don't we if we are to be forgiven according to the Scriptures but sometimes we don't want to forgive and we can't feel in our hearts to forgive is is there a key there anywhere well I think that we have to recognize that forgiveness is spiritual it's also psychological and I am Not sure that we can or are expected to forgive if there is no repentance on our own part on the part of our enemy I mean God doesn't forgive me if I'm not penitent and repentant whoa this is a new this is a new twist well I mean if I'm to from the love like God loves and forgive the way the Lord forgives I believe in that repentance which is you know what that is metanoia repentance is saying I'm sinned forgive me so I don't think Christians have to forgive maybe they shouldn't even forgive if there's been no repentance interesting yes hey Kyle no but that is that doesn't mean that I can and should carry and keep alive the negative feelings toward it or the person that's treated me unfairly okay and so in that case you can just ignore the power of that negative experience by that negative perpetrator in your own emotional life I shut the door on yesterday threw the key away tomorrow has no fears for me for I have found today you know and I can think of a person where I was really the victim of something very unfair grossly unfair comes to mind now and I can't tell you what it is but I made an early decision that since there was no repentance and there was active enmity against me unjustly and unfairly I couldn't forgive but I had no right to seek vengeance I have no right to tolerate negative mental attitudes toward this person but isn't that almost the equivalent of forgiveness no I don't think so I think real forgiveness you know what it is is he really loves you and he loves you yeah it's a prodigal son in the arms of his father so I think that I think many people make the mistake of thinking that if they forgive they have to totally pardon a person for having offended them and I don't think you have to part camera even should unless they realize they made a mistake and ask for your forgiveness you know that's why I had never thought you think God doesn't forgive us and let's be true come and ask him for it he simply by that statement made the provision for our he set himself up to to be able to offer you forgiveness now hmm some new theology tonight this is interesting this is interesting you mean I can focus on are the good people yeah in Matthew 6 it says your heavenly Father will forgive you if you forgive those who sin against you but if you refuse to forgive them he will not forgive you well what that doesn't say that doesn't say that first says nothing about the conditions we will we will meditate on it I'm not teaching it as a teaching I don't think I've ever preached on it I understand ok chapter 8 now be fair to yourself believe a person reading this yes sir that's so long since that listen be fair to yourself become a believer you know the closing pages full cap now then who is Jesus ask yourself these questions what do you think of his character what do you think of his claims what do you think of his cross what do you think of his converse what do you think of his more than conquering spirit that he infuses into human lives I go for all of the points and typical Schuler style I may not talk much about Jesus Christ until I get to the end I want to win their friendship yeah but you are highly criticized for that yeah and here we are at the very end Jesus Christ believe in him claim him as your Savior life's unfair but don't be unfair to yourself and fail to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior oh I like that a person could actually then come to faith in Christ by oh yes you know I would say this kind of book would would be the kind that you would you would buy and and give to that really tough person that you think to bring the pain in Christ because dr. Schuler comes through a less than traditional route I think to reach people with the word in the gospel of Christ life's not fair but God is good how true and I don't know and they can't get it at Crystal Cathedral go to any book stores almost the national chains Waldenbooks be Dalton books the all of the James stores have been selling it it's on their bestseller list so you can go to any of these stores and they all have a great great one final word dr. Sheeler first of all I told you my good news Russia under construction and then you told me some news to your program will be back on in Russia what just in short oh yeah very soon it'll yeah Kalev is the new Minister of Culture and in charge of a television and radio and I got an unsolicited letter from him a couple of months ago saying doctor I don't know you but people here in the studios all do and your sermons that you have been allowed to preach on Russian television channel 1 and so well received that if I can help you let me know and I go back is it well I'd say you can the our power is a full-length church service and it has now been accepted as the official church service on television of a new movement called churches uniting for global mission and so I said I would like that full church service to be aired every week on channel 1 which covers all 15 of the Republic's in eastern bloc countries and so three days ago I got a fax from us go your offer is accepted so this will be the first fully we rejoice we've had a breakthrough you've had a breakthrough and I I know you feel the same impetus what we do in Russia we should do quickly how long do I know do we have time to talk about churches you know please in fact you told me something very thrilling which makes me honestly believe that perhaps Jesus prayer in John 17 may yet be answered in my lifetime that they may be one even as we are one tell me I'm anxious to know well in October of 1989 a couple of ministers back in the East Coast were concerned about the fact that churches are still jealous of each other are competing with each other or not supporting each other and they invited 12 ministers themselves included and they included me I was very honored to spend two days in prayer and discussion in a private place in Atlanta Georgia October 1989 among those 12 people there was an assembly of God Minister from Buffalo New York my old friend Tommy Reid Tommy Reid yes and there was an Episcopalian that was a Presbyterian Southern Baptist on both sides of the argument in the Southern Baptists lot Presbyterian Lutheran United Methodist and Holiness Church and Dutch Reformed which is what I at any rate after two days we all prayed lord help us to know who the enemy is the enemy is not somebody else who loves Jesus Christ the enemy is not somebody else who treats the Bible with respect as God's Word to us the enemy is not somebody like that but the enemy is the atheist the secular humanist the anti-christian that's the enemy so we have to form a new coalition and so we came together to form a new coalition we called ourselves churches or pastors no evangelist is in that group no para ecclesiastical religious leader is in that group all of us are practicing pastors of local churches and so we called ourselves churches uniting for global mission and we decided we would have another meeting invite four or five of our friends and that happened that happened to be held in California then another meeting was held in Texas and now the group has been organized they have over a hundred churches very large churches they have a board of directors of 40 persons yeah we were the first religious group proud to say to send food to Russia and because of our broad base of support the primate of the Orthodox Church in Russia said send the food right to my home and the food was received at the airport by our man taken to the primate so when we have pictures of all of this and has been distributed with another huge shipment goes out this week mmm here's what's gonna happen we have put no ads in papers and say anybody who wants to join conjoined there are churches today that wouldn't want to ride on our bus I understand we are evangelical we are charismatic we are Catholic in the Catholic meaning Universal we are Orthodox and we are Protestant but if there's never been such a broad base of a new ecumenical movement and every one of these churches is great at something or the other churches aren't you know I can learn from all of these churches what they're doing something much better than I'm doing so all of us have agreed and lay on the table and give to the rest anything we've got that can help them well the issue of a church service on television kima and they all said she'd be great to have a Sunday morning telecast but this expensive is you can have ours hey it's done yep there it is so so now we have become the voice of churches uniting for global mission and we are going off the air every week and have the past two Sundays with a minister of a church admitting to the effect that they're members of the churches United for global mission and if you want a church in your community come to us or we'll find a church because Paul Crouch you are looking at the man that more than any other single person I think including you you might say no I've done as much and I might give in but you're looking at the man that for 22 years every single Sunday on national television meaning we cover 94% of the listening audience in America that's the same rady is same market share that ABC CBS and NBC in 22 years I've told people hey if you don't belong to a church check it out maybe little maybe small may be quite different from what you see here and the preacher may be a lot different than I am that's okay but you go to a church and you will find a church in your community where Jesus Christ lives and feel the spirit there I've been doing there for 22 years now without doubt millions of people that's surely no exaggeration oh no no saturation millions of people and listen to sure they went to a church and then they sat in the church then the church probably ever in their life and she they heard the minister in a sermon seis make some cheap shot against religious television mmm-hmm or maybe even against this possibility thinking preacher Robert Schuller well they didn't go back to that church they haven't gone to any Church and so after 22 years and we were doing what we've been doing now that I see that this hour of power I believe is going to be around until the trumpet sounds I want to find churches I'm very glad that they're going to be churches in every community where you can direct you can direct them and they're going to be loved do you suppose before Christ returns instead of having the general counsel of the this denomination that denomination that will we someday have the general counsel of the churches of the Lord Jesus Christ I think that the churches uniting for global mission can come closer to fulfilling that expectation than any other group ever envisioned because of their commitment to Jesus Christ and to the Bible and to the historic church and to historic Christian Creed's more importantly the attitude these ministers have I mean if I were to start dropping the names of the Executive Committee of that Lord you'd know a lot of them like Jess Moody well these are outstanding people and I I think that broke this is an answer to prayer but you have to be a pastor to be that's right at this point but that I think what's going to happen down the road there are so many independent para ecclesiastical ministries that are not accountable they they just kind of like Topsy started because the spirits started them and they grew but they need in many cases they need affirmation and accreditation by a wider body and I think this group can can do that so I really don't know where it's all going but may I tell you one thing the symbol we talked about the symbol we said well the Cross has to be our symbol yes we greeted then and then what color and then I I was given what I think I was given what I think there's a real Holy Spirit inspired idea it's all 40-degree hood said you know as we study attempts of churches and denominations and ministries to come together there are different ways of creating union vulcanizing is one way you melt rubber to rubber mm-hmm and laminating is another yeah where you take a piece of wood put some glue but another piece of wood and under pressure you glue them till you've got a laminated beat in both vulcanizing and laminating the individual piece loses its freedom loses its identity well I said there's another way to do it and that's called braiding and if you braid these strands they may be black or red or white or yellow until finally and maybe a thin strand and a thicker strand until you make a braided cord the cord may be that big and it's called a Houser and it can hold a ship here I said that's the way I see churches coming together that each strand maintains its own integrity it's on distinctiveness but yet it draws greater strength than it could have alone but all of the others that are wrapped around it and it in turn more than it knows gives strength to the others that are wrapped up in this giant rope selves across the church's unity for global mission is across but the cross is made out of a braided rope Jesus prayer must be answered must it not yes Father I pray that they all may be one even as you and I are one if anybody wants to become a member of this we they can write to any one of the pastor's I've mentioned or they can write to me and I'll pass it off to the committee this is not a Schuler project mm-hmm and but and it's called again churches uniting in global Michigan good all right let's get dr. Schuler's address up in just a moment and there it is even as we speak box one hundred garden growth nine to six for to some of you pastors will want more information on that my goodness we've had a tremendous amazing people coming to faith in Christ Betty from Shawnee Kansas surely from Bellflower California Evelyn from Quincy Illinois grace from Gardena California Marie from Monroe Louisiana Christopher from st. Croix the Virgin Islands way out in the Eastern Caribbean Denise from Pomona Jerry from Jacksonville Florida Shana from Costa Mesa Lisa from Redlands me what did dr. Schumer say that got everyone to coming to faith he said life's not fair but God is good Marilyn from Detroit Michigan grace from somewhere in Wisconsin Moselle from Augusta Georgia Walter from Boston Massachusetts Arthur from Miami Beach Florida my goodness Louise from Los Angeles Barbara from Minneapolis Pam from Austin Texas Helen from Glendora California I think the Lord deserves a hand on that my goodness this is amazing if discussing this wonderful book brings even these few to faith in Christ what will its mass distribution do I can't begin to thank both of you for your strong affirmation of that book that book it's gonna hit the number one cause of doubt in thinking intelligent people thank you we're gonna pray and I'd like to have Jan maybe just lift these needs and dr. Schuler maybe before you leave us you lead us just in a word of Prayer but tell me real quickly against some of you folks don't know I thought we had hit California about the same time that you're my senior you came to California in 1955 fifty-five the day all Disney was pushing the orange-trees out and I watched the yeah I watched the smoke go up and he said he's gonna build a park yeah if you'd like to be in on it Walter jolly and he said at Orange field in Orange County no thank you but I don't think a lot of you know the history dr. Schuler has been a very unorthodox kind of creature from his very beginning came to California from where the Ivano Reformed Church in the south side of Chicago Illinois okay Chicago to Los Angeles our Orange County and instead of looking for a warehouse and converting it into a church you went to it what a drive-in theater yes yes and did what well I used the sound system that worked I climbed on the rooftop and and i sat there stood there under the Sun and the tar paper rooftop and looked at about 25 or 30 cars and preached yeah talked talked shared shared my faith with them tried not to preach to tried to share my faith because I I rang doorbells in the first year because I didn't have a church and no members and no property I rang over 3500 doorbells and I asked the question are you an active member of a local church they said yes to bye god bless you if they said no it's no wonderful just the person I'm looking for you yourself you knocked on doors Oh 3,500 the first year and if they said they didn't Gus you're so wonderful you're just the person I'm looking for because I'm starting in the church and what do you wanted to do church and they said well do you have anything help my husband's alcoholic not yet but someday so then I realized that what I had was cream called by God to do was to be a foreign missionary to a pagan culture in Southern California and let me tell you this is true in the theological seminaries of all of the denominations I don't care if you take your own assembly of god or the Presbyterian or the reform or the Methodist or the Roman Catholic at all in the theological seminaries in the United States of America they train you to be a preacher to a church that's a totally different job than if you have to be a foreign missionary to try to win the friendship win the trust and then get non churched people so that the point where they'll love you and listen to you and then you share your faith with them so that they will accept Jesus Christ I think you've just given us the formula for a successful new church if some folks heard it out there but you'd literally stand on the roof of this theater and cars would pull up the little speaker system and this at you literally Paul Crystal Cathedral that's why 25 years later quarter of a century later when we needed a larger church I prayed about it and all I could think it was really the prettiest church I ever had was the drive-in theater myself sky and the clouds and the Sun and I could hear the birds and then a Bible verse came in my mind you know the heavens declare the glory of God about my goodness the kind of churches we build we build a solid roof so you can't see the heavens and we build solid wall Sistine glass so you can't see the heavens and then we go outside and put a brass plaque and says to the glory of God so that was God's Way of telling me make it glass I say let me decorate it every week either with rain or Sun or sparkle or so that's why we built okay and the rest is history those of you that visit Southern California all enjoy coming and visiting Crystal Cathedral I know tell me though just quickly before we pray the big new spire I see over there no what what's that all about I haven't visited yes first of all it's the completion of the cathedral any Cathedral has to have a spire or a tower to make a statement to the world that drives by that this is a place of faith this is a house of God in any of the great cathedrals you know if you take the power or the spires away it's just a big building mm-hmm and so we we built the spire it is just glorious it's 236 feet or 23 stories high and it's all out of mirrored stainless steel and at the bottom I'm very happy is a little prayer chapel made out of beautiful marble and inside there's a cross made of crystal out of the New Age but as it turns around constantly the lights on it caused it to throw little rainbows it's so beautiful you must come in somebody said what's the reason for it I said well you know the rainbow is invented by God is a there never be another flood and what we've done with a crystal cross that revolves slowly and throws the rainbows it makes the statement that once there was a flood of blood never again [Music] and that chapel is open 24 hours a day I think it's probably the only chapel in Southern California or the state that is open 24 hours that we have security we hire them they are there and people can come close the door and be alone the security right outside and pray it's just a half-mile from the huge Orange County Hospital a lot of people then in this fire itself there is a 52 Bell Quran and it's positive Caroline the only positive Carolina in the United States very truthfully because all Caroline's in the history of Bell music leave an overtone that goes into the minor so you can't let the bells sing the melody well the argument choirs sing the background because of one so this is these belts are made in Holland and it's just for a beautiful but it belongs to the whole world we shall stop by and see it I know many of you will want to do the same in Garden Grove California on what's the address again one two one four one Lois Lois you never heard how I got that address no this is fantastic do we have the time yes when we bought that property in 1959 I went to the post office first of all I said we were gonna have a 24-hour live suicide-prevention telephone counseling program and we were the first church in the United States of America to have this and I wanted a special telephone number and they said that's not possible if you're in Anaheim it would be we were a block man aha I said well pay for the wire from an eye and we got it the telephone number was NE w h ope new hope yes right and that's the longest oldest 24-hour suicide prevention telephone counseling in any church in the United States second in the world the first one was Christ's mission Methodist in Sydney Australia they inspired me then I needed address for this new property and I wanted one too they said it's gonna start with one I said okay one two two two two two they said that's not possible I said well let's make it one one one one one one five one something we could all remember and I had a real I had a real argument with a post office' going to grow thanks they got no upset with me are you upset with them and they said Reverend this is your address no further discussion and it was one to one for 120 years later I realized what we had a description of what Christianity is all about it's a one-to-one that's great Garden Grove and you can't miss it you can see the spire number 22 freeway you can't miss it so it's a joy to have dr. shooter with us always you got a little scripture little theologians and they want us me to read these two scriptures and I think they're wonderful number one the words of Jesus he says Father forgive these people for they don't even know what they're doing and then here's another one that's very interesting in Luke 17 it says rebuke your brother if he sins and forgive him if he now that's Jesus words even if he wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness it's the common-sense thing to if you don't you know there's a danger I think that we can affirm by cheap forgiveness people if they don't exercise repentance but I know Jesus is forgiving me and I know if I die tonight where I'm going so that's really all they can - let's have a final word of Prayer before we sing another song is dr. Hugh Ross here tonight yes dr. Ross as we said who can think in the thirty fourth dimension all of you scholars get ready your minds will be taken to the outer limits again as dr. Ross joins us in just a moment shares some of the needs don't really know honey is someone suffering with arthritis tonight someone is drinking right now and left the home and she's very very worried I can't sir of the prostate pain in the left side needs healing throughout the body a mate has been arrested tonight for something and they're so distraught someone facing divorce just every need in the world one of our employees Sam Cochran's wife Gerry Cochran failed and has injured her back very very seriously many many things to pray for and about but don't you all just put yourselves in agreement with this right now yes Jack and Texas needs our prayers as well dr. Schuler would you lead us in our prayer tonight Oh God you know much more about all of these people than we do and you know much more than they do where they need the blessing tonight so move into their minds and move up and down the corridors of their memory if you see a door that's been locked too long open the door move in put lights on clean it up Jesus please give to everyone listening the blessing they need most tonight above all I pray that you will take these moments and motivate people to realize there is a wonderful spirit that is alive in the world today it is the Holy Spirit it comes from the very living loving heart of the resurrected Savior Jesus Christ do your good work amen man and everyone said I mean thank you dr. sugar I appreciate you being here tonight thank you for leaving a couple of these good books here with us tonight we shall enjoy Jan reads to me at bedtime so she will read your book tell dr. Schuler one more time thanks for being our very special friend and guest on the program tonight we're gonna sing one of the grand old classics burn Jackson in the garden welcome Burnie [Applause] [Music] I come to the guard [Music] and the boys falling [Music] the son Oh God [Music] and the sound [Music] source and the man that he gave to me [Music] [Music] he was with me he talks with me anytime and the joy we share as we tell me [Music] right Jesus is my [Music] day [Applause] [Music] let it be [Music] let it be [Music] our sins and [Music] geez we are for [Music] guarding [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] l should yell ll your no age to age you're still the same by the power n me el shaddai el shaddai air come Connor I don't know we will praise and lift you high [Music] through the love and through the rent you say the son of Abraham through the power of your head you turn the sea into dry land to the outcast on her knees you are the God who really sees by your might you said your children free hell should I well you it's to it you're still the same by the power [Music] they're coming we will pray with you [Music] through the years you've made it clear that the time of Christ was near though the people what Messiah are to be though your word contain the plan they just could not understand your most awesome work was done through the frailty of yours now should I should i hello your nah I don't know age to age or still the same by the power in the day El Shaddai [Music] - ha else you know l should El Shaddai [Music] yeah [Music] I suppose that song will take on new meeting as you all plan to go to Israel and sing that at some beautiful spot in the Holy Land via della Rosa walking through the Stations of the Cross can you imagine awesome wonderful really great well get you thinking caps on the professor is in and question some of you you you always love to phone in the stumpers for the professor so all of you that want to send a question and start now and channel did ferret through them and told them okay let me introduce him most of you have already been inspired and the limits of your thinking stretched by dr. Hugh Ross who is president and director of reason to believe an institute founded to research and proclaim the factual basis for faith in God and His Word there are some things we take by faith dr. Ross but I guess there's a lot of things that hey you've got the evidence to back it up to don't you well it says in 1st Thessalonians 5:22 test everything God wants us to put him to the test and he's prepared to prove it to us is there anything in the whole Bible that you do not have an answer to maybe we should start there and a little bit here and see some of the things that dr. Ross is still still working on sure that was part of my conversion story his realizing that the Bible like the record of nature is filled with unsolved problems and therefore I shouldn't let the things I don't understand and scripture stop me but light the record of nature there's much that's easily understandable mm-hm and that which is easily understandable I could see a young man totally error-free so I made my commitment on the basis of that which is understandable and said just like with my scientific endeavors I'm gonna work on the unsolved problems one at a time there are some things my dear I mean even as the heavens are high above the earth so much higher are my ways than your ways and my thoughts your thoughts so I suppose there will be some things I want you agree we purposely leaves things that are difficult to solve to whet our curiosity to stimulate our faith encourage our research so we can come into a closer relationship with him how boring life would be if everything was solved we'd have no needs scientists anymore would we let me finish my introduction quickly Hugh has also authored several books articles materials including Genesis one a scientific perspective what is Christianity and the fingerprint of God those of you who watch TV and regularly know that dr. Ross can be seen right here on the TV and network Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. Pacific time I think it airs another time or two doesn't it it should we've got one of my favorite subjects you want to get into tonight tonight end times prophecy how current events foretold in the Bible are pointing to the return of the Lord one of my favorite subjects but let's start with something simple every child has at one time or another ask mom or dad where did God come from the thought of how an omnipotent all-wise all-knowing immutable what are the four great characteristics of God omnipotent omnipresent immutability and something else omniscient yes all-knowing God how could such a being just be without any understanding of how he got to be what he is I guess is the best way to put it well that's the most common question that gets posed to us by children yes it's also a very common one that gets posed to us by research scientists they both tend to ask the same question yes but it's also the source of the simplest and most rigorous argument for the existence of the Creator God because both the scientists and the children are on the right track any entity confined to half a line of time like we are must be created I mean if you're on a single line of time where line only goes forward you must have a beginning a creation event on that timeline now our scientists tell us that the entire universe is confined to such a half a line of time and of course we human beings are confined as such a line of time so we must be created the universe must be created therefore there must be a creator mm-hmm now through our studies of the universe there's solution of the equations of general relativity we realize that the cause for the universe lies outside of matter energy length width height time in other words he is not confined to that half line of time we are wait a minute how do i how do I get my mind outside of all of this outside of time outside of matter outside of well your mind will have to be satisfied with equations of algebra and theorems of geometry because another theorem of mathematics States it's impossible to visualize phenomena that you cannot personally experience so if you're sitting there demanding a visual picture of how God moves and operates in these extra dimensions of time you're never going to get it mm-hmm but if you are willing to be satisfied with true and false type statements about what could happen given that that was the case then you can be helped mm-hmm but amazed and there's such a rigor in all this that you know anything can find a half a line of time as we all are must be created therefore there must be creator that right away puts it into a theism atheism is had it just so that simple mathematical theorem mm-hmm well you know the Bible doesn't waste much time as we all know on atheism the The Fool hath said in his heart there is no God you know I got to thinking just just one little illustration well let me just complete the case here all right because what's what's incredible is the Bible is the only holy book that states the correct message about time all the other holy books contradicted how so well in 2nd Timothy 1:9 and Titus 1:2 the Scriptures tell us that God creates time and that God moves and operates before he even created the time dimension of our universe mm-hmm that means the Bible is stating that God moves and operates in at least two dimensions of time a plane of time rather than a line of time and when I saw that as a young man that told me right away all these other holy books must be humanly crafted frauds because they confined the operation of the creator to a single dimension of time the Bible doesn't do that and the Bible answers a child's question and first their Colossians 1:16 God is no beginning he is no end he is not created he's before all created things because he's not confined to the timeline that were confined to so that theorem doesn't apply to him it applies to us but not to him but the thing that's most significant to me is that you know with this new cosmological knowledge that we have we know the means to eliminate every religion except the religion that's proclaimed through the pages of the Bible we know they're all incorrect except that and you can prove it and such a simple proof and say a little child can comprehend and this and use it mm-hmm you don't have to get into complicated biochemistry or one night a year or two ago when you were a guest and I was I was hosting you you had a little model I recall it helped me understand I think better than anything the different dimensions of time I don't suppose you brought that with you tonight you mean these characters yeah there they are okay for for us layman would could you run through it just one more time real quickly to our poor minds the reason I've cut out these figures mr. and mrs. flat is that there's this theorem which says that no man can visualize dimensions that he can't experience so there's no way you can get a visual picture of the fourth fifth sixth seventh eighth ninth tenth eleventh etcetera dimensions yeah you get past three and I'm you can't ask what you can experience you're lost I'm lost we're all loss on the other hand we do the capacity to visualize fewer dimensions and so that means we have a tool for seeing what it's like to have one extra dimension of advantage all right so here we have as you say mr. and mrs. flat these are two-dimensional people having only width and length only width and length and we confine them to a universe that has only length and width no height okay they're in this two dimensional plane they have no perception of the dimension of death we could talk to them about it and they wouldn't be able to understand or visualize it just like we can't comprehend 10 11 dimensions mm-hmm let's stick with just the fourth dimension because I can't you know after three I'm laws for example the Bible says that God is very close to us closer to us than we are ever to one another now we're all sitting pretty close together if the scripture assures is that God's even closer to us than that and yet we can't see him we can't touch him and like with mr. and mrs. flat he consider this to be a plane I could put my hand a tenth of a millimeter above both of them but because I'm above the plane they can't see me so you don't exist to them right but being only 1/10 of a millimeter away I'm closer to them than they are to one another I'm more real to them than they are to one another in that context mm-hmm and the only way they'd be able to have visualization of me would be if I were to come into their plane make a poke a finger through the plane but it's a partial picture yeah they'd only see that portion of your finger that was two-dimensional they would see a circle cross-section of my finger mm-hmm and it'd be easy for them in their limited perspective to say you know that little small circle is a totality if you Ross mm-hmm likewise we have encounters with God when he comes into our dimensional frame as it says in Philippians 2 Jesus humbled himself Lord himself and took the form of a man there's a lot more to God than what we saw in the Incarnation when we visualized in the Incarnation and the way I complete this picture and say I could poke one fingers through the plane for mrs. flat but independently I could poke three fingers through the plane for mr. flat mm-hmm so he would have the concept that Hugh Ross's three small circles his wife would have the concept and I'm only one small circle and I use this as an allergy for the Trinity how Christians argue non-christians argue is God three persons is he two persons is he one person what does the Bible tell us he's simultaneously one two and three an utter mathematical absurdity if there are only four dimensions but it makes perfect sense as long as you've got eight or more fine now you you lost me there well I think you're asking me for a visualization that's okay I'll give you okay that's something we did on a special we did for you last year is we took a globe and worked out what would happen when you go from one dimension of time to two dimensions of time to three dimensions of time and for example if you could imagine I have a globe here I should have brought one with me a Samana we have a real big one back right here we can bring it down well you can take that globe there and if you were to put the half timeline of human existence say along the equator so our timeline would be defined by the equator of the globe mm-hmm well if God can move and operate in three dimensions of time it would be possible for him to simultaneously operate in our past our present and our future and how you can visualize this have God at the North Pole and from that North Pole from a single point in time he could drop a line down to our present from that same point to her past from that same point to her future okay and this helps to give you a handle why the Bible says that God predetermined everything before the universe was created and yet he has given us freedom of choice you know for us in four dimensions we have no visualization how those two could be simultaneously true and within Christendom you have churches that opt for one or the other but not both Scripture teaches it's both but you know through using this analogy of extra dimensions of time you can get a handle on why it can work in those extra dimensions but it can't work in our limited dimensions just like with mr. and mrs. flat things that seem utterly contradictory to them are fully resolved for us because we have that extra dimension but I think the most encouraging thing that comes out of this think of how much power and advantage we have or these mere Flatlanders they're so limited in what they can do and we have such great power compared to them well think of the Creator you know through physics we can establish that he has at least seven dimensions of advantage over us and if you just take it through one and multiply that up through the next one and keep on going and we realize we're viewing with an awesome creator and that's why Jesus could say to his disciples and the night he was betrayed you were in grief that she should be full of joy because I'm departed from you and when I depart I'm gonna be able to do far more for you than I can do right now because it wasn't gonna stay in that humbled state he's gonna take up the powers and authority shared with God the Father before the creation and in that state he was gonna bill on powers disciples to do far greater things than even he did during his short ministry on earth so and you know it's hard for us to really just like the disciples I can empathize with the disciples can you imagine having Jesus in the flesh with you in the ministry for four solid years than to say goodbye to that mm-hmm so I can empathize why they were struggling but the encouragement from that chapter in John is it's far better for us the way it is than it was for them because if I go away someday you will know all of the dimensions that I know well I mean he's no longer confining himself to four dimensions right so he's available to us anytime yeah he's literally that tenth of a millimeter close explain how you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a creator explain that to people a lot of people live wondering well several years ago I gave a message to a group called atheists United here in Southern California it's about 300 of them they invited you and I see that was courageous to say the least and they a lot of them about one-third of them were saying I will not believe until I see absolute proof and the thing I had to share with them is that because we're confined to these four dimensions our knowledge is always incomplete that's why there's always going to be unsolved problems both in science and in theology because you know there is that incompleteness but said what we do have available is practical truth I can't give you absolute proof from my own existence my wife's existence or God's existence but I can give you practical proof and I said you know if I can give you more practical evidence for God's existence than my existence right now here in front of you is that good enough you bet if you're rational you'll say yeah that is good enough they say well we've never seen God and I say well as a physicist I have never seen in a tree no but I'm utterly convinced that neutrinos exists because of the evidence utter neutrinos there are fundamental particles that are so small that you can't see electrons or atoms or smaller than that they're harder to detect than electrons I see they literally go through the whole of the earth without stopping so and this has mass and matter well some of the neutrinos have mass some don't so there's three different kinds of neutrinos that's another anyway so you can pick different examples but there's lots within science that no one has ever seen and yet we're all convinced it's there yes because of the weight of the evidence and actually in physics we've worked out a rule of thumb if we can demonstrate that something is less than one chance and 10 to the 50th of happening we can safely call that impossible it's never going to happen so that's a good definition of practical proof and on that basis it's easy to provide practical proof that God exists then he wrote the Bible you can use science you could use history you can use testimonial evidence you know whatever channel you choose to pick it's easy to come up with a number that exceeds more than one chance in 10 to the 50th or less than one chance of the 50th of it being some other conclusion it's 10 with 50 0 60 zeroes yeah there's not even a name for that number I don't think is there other than 10 to the 50th Paul for example the last time I was here I talked about a little paper that we have written in reasons to believe which has taken from my testimony story of looking at 13 predictions in the Bible of future history 13 predictions that have been fulfilled and how these predictions lend themselves to easy calculations as to the chance of coincidental fulfillment and the number you come up with is it's less than one chance in 10 to the 138 that it's a coincidence and since that 138 zeroes is such an enormous number of zeroes you say we have something here that establishes that the Bible is more reliable than even some of our laws of physics I want to get to that in just a minute but let's get back to the atheist convention here for what else did you say to these esteemed unbelievers well I went through the new measurements of the universe and how what's different today in terms of non theism is that twenty years ago the universe wasn't measured today it is and the significance of that is if there's a creator and you can measure his creation then you get a tool for measuring him and says let's look at these new measurements and see what they reveal now they had a panel there that might have four professors from the University and they all stood up and tried to take me apart mm-hmm but one physicist stood up and said well dr. Ross I'm sure you've heard about this particular paper this is yes I happen to have it right here a chart all prepared and went through the chart and showed them how what he thought was evidence for non theism and fact was evidence for for theism for God for theism I knew the author personally that says no he's not promoting atheism as you may think I've talked to him about this etc well he was so impressed with that he began to ask some biblical questions and then another five minutes later in front of everybody with his microphone on he said you know what church do you go to like to attend and that really set the tone because now the audience is really receptive and so we talked about the difference between honest atheism which means I'm a non-believer because I haven't seen the evidence maybe show me the evidence I'll look at it and a dishonest atheist who says I don't want to see any evidence yeah I says you know I'd be interested in how many of you fall into category a and the two thirds the audience said we're in that category I think a dishonest atheist really believes there's a god and is mad at him well I'm on the mailing lists of a few atheist organizations I put myself on the mailing list and one of their journals had an article complaining about the fact that their membership was 99% composed of people who were brought up in fundamentalist Christians and so they're angry at their Christian parents in the way they were brought up and the message that they were given it's all bitterness I read the story of Madeleine your hair I read a true story of her life and there was a time when she called out to God and she felt that he didn't answer her the route she wanted he'd answered almost always you'll find some childhood experience or an experience in her youth that really embittered them and it's usually from some other Christian or someone who claimed to be a Christian doing something that you know that they couldn't forgive I've often I've often said it takes a lot more faith to be an atheist than to be a believer at least in a all-wise creator I mean in your book I'm sure the fingerprint of God you but a crazy thought just hit me that we were we were out in Texas and the the buds are just starting to come out on the old pear tree that Matthew and I got out and trimmed last fall and to get it ready it had been so heavily laden with pears that it was breaking its branches off you know so we really cut it back and now it's starting to bud out and we're gonna have a crop of pears but I got to thinking how does that particular I mean this is just one crazy little thought that that hit me and I don't know why I even thought it you know the trunk is about that big around it's a reasonably mature pear tree and I knew that roots go down into just plain old dirt and somehow through the miracle of plant life and the sun's rays hitting leaves and and what do we call that photosynthesis photosynthesis photosynthesis that piece of wood produces a pear now how does that would draw moisture and whatever it draws from the earth and how does it know to create a pear instead of an apple or or a peach or something how does I mean just and and and plant life is you know some of God's simpler create when you when you compare it to the I suppose the human brain is God's highest earthly crazy and I suppose is it not poo but to see the the fingerprint of God as you've said in your book or the handiwork of God or that just that the marvels of plain old plant life when you really sit down and think about it it's almost like your your mind just goes tilt all of a sudden how how can that happen without well some creator some designer some architect somebody who knew what he was doing you know the response to that as you know today's skeptic it says well natural processes put that all together over a period of time well that's really the case and it should be no problem for you scientists to make something similar to this in the laboratory why don't you go out and do it and show us go make us a pear tree and the savior's works I want all of our intellect and creative ability and education and technology we can't duplicate what we see in nature yeah so maybe one day we will but we ever do it'll simply testify that a Marvel the creator that did it in the first place and yet we're supposed to believe that somehow someway the lightning hot struck the primordial soup and out crawled the Polliwog which you know you know and they can't even do that as you say with all of the laboratory following help and I mentioned just before we go on the program a discovery was made a few months ago showing that that first life-form came about in a geologic instant it wasn't something that happened over an incredibly long period of time as soon as conditions on planet Earth permitted the existence of life we have an abundance of life and that abundance is remained until this day so the fact that I happened so quickly Jan mentioned just a little earlier she said that I think were you watching one of Hugh's programs where you said that I think he made the statement what was it that if you can get an unbeliever or an atheist through the first chapter of Genesis first few chapters first you've got it is that well they take surveys asking unbelievers why they remain in a state of unbelief and the eight of the nine objections that they raise come out of the first eleven chapters of Genesis and usually what they say is hey I'm not worried about the virgin birth I'm worried about giving a defense to the Bible as an error-free book you know to my friends at work and the questions are already raised or the creation the insects the Sun the plants mentioned in Genesis 1 the order of events the timescale the flood were decane get his wife that's an easy one that's tossed in there but you know usually even get them past those 11 chapters the virgin personal problem and a reservoir exactly that debt is no probably we don't have time to deal with all 11 chapters right now but what what is one of the most prominent questions that people have trouble getting over and how do you handle it well probably the order of events in Genesis 1 mm-hmm people read that chapter more often it's they haven't read it they hear what somebody else has told them about Genesis how it teaches that the Sun was created after the plants and they ridicule and say well you know how can the plants possibly survive about the heat of the Sun and then you have the creatures that creepeth along the ground on the sixth day and they say well that's insects and we know from the fossil record that insects were early not late and and they'll give a few more examples but basically they're saying you know this reading of the Bible if heard about as totally at odds with the record of nature and what we did on the second program in the series I believe was to point out that you have to first correctly identify the viewpoint yeah and that's a fundamental rule of the scientific method don't even think about the interpretation till you first I've identified the point of view well where did that rule come from it came from scientists early Renaissance scientists who were Bible scholars and they noted the Bible is consistent in doing with physical Venson that way whenever the Bible deals with a sequence of physical events it first gives you the point of view okay now this story about Genesis and this thing that's totally at odds with the record of nature is based on a viewpoint of God telling us a story from the point of view of up in the heavens looking down in the earth okay but the text contradicts that and says the Spirit of God was brooding over the surface of the waters yes or to understand the account of creation not from above the clouds but from under the clouds okay and that makes a tremendous difference how so how so well Genesis 1:1 tells us that God in the beginning created the universe the word Shammai in in a retz heavens and earth it's kind of like the word butterfly now butterfly is not butter and it's not fly well shun my n and rats when they're hooked together means something totally distinct the entire physical universe so I was created in the beginning that would include the stars and the Sun so it was white in the beginning but it was dark on the surface of the Earth's waters because of the atmosphere that was shrouded it was shrouded by the atmosphere and the interplanetary debris and what happened on the first creation day known as the text does not say God created light it says let there be light on the earth yeah the word create is in Genesis 1:1 let there be is Genesis 1:3 and so the light that was always there it was now able to come through the atmosphere so the atmosphere went from opaque to translucent on the first creation day on the 4th creation day went from translucent to transparent so the Sun appears to the observer on the surface of the earth for the first time on the 4th creation day and those creatures are creepeth along the ground if you read it in the Hebrew you discover that's a subset of a more general Hebrew reference to animal the nephesh creatures creatures that knowing of bodies but of souls and the way that they can communicate through mind will and emotions with human beings which means of birds and mammals so the creatures a creep of the law on the ground are rodents and hares short legged mammals they're not insects and so what you wind up with when you go through Genesis chapter one there's something that's perfectly in agreement with the record of nature at no point at odds and you know I was seventeen I looked at that and says here's a Bible scoring 11 for 11 on the order of events and 11 for 11 on the description because each is correctly correctly described mmm I said there's no way that could be a coincidence and then look at the initial conditions dark empty of life and unfit for life the Bible scores 3 for 3 on the initial conditions so here's getting a perfect score on the very first page that was my first clue that this book indeed might be the perfect Word of God we're getting so many wonderful Christ's quote questions but one of them right along this line is why do we keep hearing on the news about dinosaur bones millions of years old and other artifacts well we have an abundance of dinosaur finds one of the programs we did we're going to be giving these to your library is on dinosaurs at cavemen and the fossil record and now like with the cavemen type creatures that existed before Adam and even went extinct we have very few bones you can put them all into a nice sized coffin that's all we have we do have bones but not many when you get to the dinosaurs we have a tremendous abundance of Bones I mean you've got two national monuments one in Alberta and one of Montana where the dinosaur bones are so abundant they're left there on the ground for people to see and there's so much more museum so without question we know these dinosaurs are real they existed the bones are well dated we can know of a question that they were created by God and went extinct through natural processes long before God created Adam and Eve so you simply believe that there was a pre creation on this planet prior to the Genesis account of no I'm not a gap theory man in other words I take the position that God created the universe in the beginning and then operated through six days of creation and on those six days he didn't limit himself to eleven miracles that are described in the text all we're getting are the highlights we're really looking at millions of miracles that God performed over those six creation days are you talking about the day age right now in other words that each day of creation was a much longer period of time than twelve four hours something I picked up even when I first read Genesis 1 seriously there's a no evening of mourning for the seventh day you only see it for the first six days mm-hmm isn't that interesting the seventh day isn't closed out and then I noticed in Psalm 95 in Hebrews four that that seventh day is referred to in the future tense and other passages refer to it the past tense so it means it must have started with Adam it continued from Adam right through my time and we go to Revelation 21 you bump into the eighth day God will one day cease from his rest and begin to create again and then I looked at the fossil record and said what a beautiful answer to the enigma of the fossil record because you look in the fossil record is the evidence for speciation tremendous numbers of species appearing and then through natural processes an equal number of species disappearing through extinctions and what do we see today the same extinction rate species are still rapidly going extinct mm-hmm and we may have a part in that our abuse of the environment but that's not the whole picture even if we weren't here they would still be rapidly going extinct but then we look for the speciation we have yet to document and the words of pollen and Ehrlich who are not Christians we have yet to document the appearance of a single animal species in the world of nature so for animals a speciation rate in real time measures zero for the plant kingdom you can count them in one hand so it's a very low speciation rate what you'd expect from natural processes but the extinction rates enormous but the bible gives us the answer we see it in the fossil record because that's when God was at work for six days he created he was creating all those species of life replacing the ones that went extinct Psalm 104 talks about that how God recreates so you're talking about gaps I'd say I don't believe in one gap I believe in millions of gaps because species would go extinct and God would step in and replace that species with a different species typically of greater complexity and diversity than before is he still doing that now no he's not when he created Adam and Eve he went into his day of rest and so it confuses the evolutionists he looks in real-time and sees no divine intervention so extrapolates and thinks that's the case for the whole of the time record not realizing that God was active for six whole days but amidst the seventh day he is cease from that work of creating so that's why we don't see him in nature today he's at rest no he's promised us he's going to intervene once he conquers the problem of evil that we introduced through the garden was Satan's help once that problem is conquered then the purpose of his universe will have been fulfilled you know one of the things that were researching his how when you look at the physics of the universe we realized that God created a universe for the very purpose of conquering the problem of evil as rapidly as possible once it was introduced but what revelation tells us once that problem is conquered by God he removes his universe from existence replaces it with a brand new one with new laws of physics and if you want a problem to work on look at revelation 21 and figure out what the new laws of physics will be the new heavens and a new earth with with whole new laws of physics apparently well we know there must be new laws of physics because of the New Jerusalem 1,500 miles on a side with corners that's impossible given the present laws of physics so the laws of physics must change simply to accommodate the new jury yeah the city 4 square is basically what 1,500 miles 500 by 1500 why can't you have a cube that size well any piece of matter that size will self gravitate into a sphere you know the heavenly bodies are all spherical until you get down to the size of asteroids see the moon is spherical because of gravity so you couldn't have a city 4 square it would have its own of its own laws of physics turn into a city turn into a sphere so that means that gravity either doesn't exist there or it's different interesting oh this is fascinating one quick question Holly while we're on the subject of dinosaurs briefly I read in the book of Joe are you turning the same thing well from the Hebrew we know that the BMS is not a dinosaur the reason why you go back to Genesis 1 on the sixth creation day you see that same Hebrew word showing up yeah where it talks about God at the very end of the sixth creation day just before he created Adam and Eve it talks about him creating three different kinds of land mammals the long-legged quadrupeds that are the long-legged quadrupeds that are not easily tameable and then the creatures that are built close to the ground whereas King James says those that creepeth along the ground mm-hmm though on that basis we understand that if the BMS is a mammal a land mammal long-legged quadruple it can't be a dinosaur because dinosaurs are reptiles so on that face is dealing with something different you know the thing you see so what is he then what is this creature I mean he sure sounds like a dinosaur smoke flows from his nose that's a little aia thing because you got joy 40:41 if'n is the behemoth is the one that is in the swamps with the Lotus plants and but in both cases you have chapters describing a particular creature that is very terrifying to man so each case were doing with them when I'm an animal that has had contact with man and the way it's formed it terrifies men if you come into contact with a Leviathan according to the text or a be a myth you're gonna be sorry because these creatures are really mean and destructive well you know that was one of the unsolved until I made my first ministry trip to Africa and then I ran into this scholar and said you know one of the problems we have here in Africa are with crocodiles and hippos as what hippos don't eat people says yeah but they're really mean and they don't like anything in the river and what he shared with me is that you take the hippopotamus together with the alligator or the crocodile and those two creatures account for more human deaths and all the rest of the animal kingdom combined hey this gives me a new appreciation for job 40 and 40 I went back to there and said you know I need to take this metaphorically not literally because what the passage is talking about is the impression these creatures have on human beings and the fear it's you know it's filled with emotional language and you can see the metaphors it uses the word like and has repeatedly and so okay taking this as metaphorical language which creatures are best described by these metaphors you know the plates of steel and you can't put a spear through you look at an elegant and you can see those heavy plates on the body of the elliegator you know if you're armed with a stick you might as well forget it it's not going to do any good yeah and the way the tail swishes through the mud and then you go to the BMS and now it's sitting in the water all the time and amongst the lotus plants there but if any human being gets close to it then they're really gonna be sorry for the effect you know what the scholar in South Africa shared with me is what happens typically somebody goes rowing down the river and they run into a bunch of hippos and the hippos don't like it being there they overturn your boat and the Crocs get you so that's typically how it happens or or the the hippos will chase a bunch of women that are working on their laundry and they fall into the shallow parts of the water and the crocodiles are waiting for them there's a hippo eat grass like an ox hippos are vegetarian they are vegetarian or anyway I'll read that anew I've always kind of felt like maybe dinosaurs could have existed perhaps even in job's time and they were just too big for Noah to get him on the ark well the newsletter that we last produced was on the dinosaurs disappearance because for a long time scientists have been aware that there was a mass extinction of all the dinosaurs mm-hmm about 61 million years ago mm-hmm but what we've now discovered is the cause of that destruction of the dinosaurs when we described here in our newsletter is how we can see the crater that was the result of an asteroid or large comet that came from outer space smashed in the earth caused a huge tidal wave literally put up a debris ring three thousand miles in diameter round this thing stirred up dust into the atmosphere the blocked out the light of the Sun and literally cut off the food supply of the dinosaurs but the reason we wrote this article is that we can count the number of such bodies in solar system asteroids and large comets and draw the conclusion this has happened several times in the history of the earth and this particular event wiped out about 65 percent of all the life on the planet I read an article in a news magazine recently that huge meteorite or cut has been discovered where it's over no it's in this continents on the Yucatan Peninsula oh yeah down in Mexico Mexico right yeah interesting so the event happened right here in North America the significant thing is this that these events happen repeatedly with that widespread destruction what replaces the life forms so suddenly thereafter this is evidence that God comes in after the disaster replaces the life and not just replaces it but upgrades it mm-hmm but now that he's culminated his creation with mankind he's working on the problem of evil and once that's done dealt with we're into a whole new universe and in that universe were not going to be dealing with the pain and suffering that exists in this universe that's the good news interesting interesting any more good claims shall we have a song don't forget I wanted in the last half-hour so here I'd like to touch a little bit on endtime prophecy one of my favorite subjects because to me the fact that God foretold the future and it came to pass exactly as he foretold it to me is one of the strongest proofs of a creator and all-wise wants to understand yeah you know some of the other stuff isn't so easy to understand as you all know now you brainy ones you want to get in touch with dr. Hugh Ross and in a little bit we will get an address up I'm delighted to know that you're going to set up quite a complete library of your videotapes over in the CEO board library for folks to be able to come and enjoy that's wonderful there's dr. Ross's address those of you that want to get in touch with him for whatever reason his writings his books his letters his newsletters and maybe spar with him a little intellectually well we have a holiday where people can call in already questions oh really every Monday through Friday really ask the professor right on the telephone maybe they can call in and then we have a team of people on the phones that will spar and debate and give evidence and tell us where and Hayne got his wife exactly really it was his simple that you know the next logical the next logical question though is the text says he built a city where did the people come from from the city okay can you answer sure what we we have is all reduced to one page so they can people can write us and we'll send them free a one-page response to where Kane got his wife and people to build a city didn't people just live a lot longer and so there was time for other progeny to come along well they did live a long time and you can work it out if people without the benefit of birth control or least adequate birth control lived to be nine hundred years very conservatively you can calculate they'd be having about a hundred and twenty children per couple mm-hmm so one hundred and twenty children per couple Oh who's gonna support all them again that was well what you discover if you work out the numbers is it even before Adam is dead the population of planet earth should have been in excess of five billion souls five Billy billion as many as we have now as many as we have now and we work all the numbers for one generation after the other and how much you accumulate and it goes up incredibly rapidly so the next question is what happened to all those people well that gives you an understanding for the flood where God says that man became unimaginably evil yes and what was going wrong was the sin of Cain people were killing one another in fact you can work out the numbers to keep the population as low as the archaeological evidence permits at least 19 and a twenty people must have been dying a death of murder mm-hmm which gives you an appreciation for the strong language in Genesis 9:6 when Noah comes off the ark and God begins to talk to him both murder and some of the strongest language you'll find in the Old Testament God says to no one as descendants you must restrain the sin of murder whatever you have to do to stop it you stop it up to the death penalty I don't want to see this get out of control again and so now we know why God had a deal so harshly with a human race because the human race was in danger of going extinct hmm just there self-destruct they were gonna self-destruct him Rael yeah and yet one of the prophetic scriptures that Jesus himself gave us was that in the end times before his return it would be again as it was in the days well I think we're already seeing some of that for the first time in history since the flood murder is a number one cause of death in the world yeah it's a head of cancer right heart disease yeah we are entering into those talkin abortions and it's where it all is yeah we're entering those last days aren't we so what's coming into it but to me the strongest evidence were coming into it people are coming to the Lord a man versus a Great Commission is being fulfilled death abound their death grace much more about let's sing a song some of you may want to get another question or two in a prayer request before we say goodnight and a half an hour so here this has been a fascinating discussion and we've got a lot more that we want to touch on before we say goodnight a very appropriate song it is no secret anymore since dr. Ross has explained it all to us what God can do so let's welcome burne Jackson as you get your final two requests and questions in [Applause] [Music] bring out the new [Music] is through someone slept fair was that someone you you may have for added strength your courage to renewed do not be disheartened robbery - you did is no secret what God can do what is done for [Music] you live for you why doe [Music] he'll argue it is no see can do [Music] there is no night for in his light you never always please feel at home wherever there is no power can conquer while God is ours you said just take him no don't [Music] what God can do what is [Music] with arms wide [Music] here [Music] it is no see [Music] it is no [Music] what God [Music] Stewart Hamlin would be proud and could not have done it better I believe that is the case married or was my special guest on behind the scenes today and this Thursday night the great REM Awards will be held and those of you that want information aren't right after this praise the Lord program that BTS program will air again and information will be given to you how you may get you know Christians loved it there it is right now dress up and go out and just have a wonderful evening with a lot of wonderful people every year we go there's people that you've seen on television for years and years yes who was that last year that you enjoyed so much stood up and he said he watches all the time shirley jones husband what's his name oh yeah Marty Ingels Marty Ingels he had us role it's a funny man and of course it's always fun to sit with Dale Rogers there's two of our sweetest friends in the world and James DeVos and in course it's no secret yeah they are going to get these that's why I'm going the Hall of Fame Award this year or whatever they certainly do so those of you they'd like to go we'll be there and be enjoying it and Trinity has entered about 20 of our programs and married or could not tell me of course but a little birdie told me that we just may have won another room or two just maybe well we entered dr. Ross is spoken did we yes we do very good well the entered real video would be again huh are you gonna get to go to the rim Awards dr. Ross well you should because your program just might we don't know anyway ah dear friends a an answer that I had never heard has just come on the question that we eternally get where did Cain ordered Abel where did they get their wives dr. Ross please clear this up for us well the one thing we can add to what we've already said is that when you look at Genesis you see no prohibition against brothers marrying sisters there is against parents marrying children the situation of lot and his daughters was clearly condemned but Abraham marrying his half-sister was clearly condoned and when you get to Exodus you see Moses laying out laws saying brothers and sisters are not to marry anymore now what the biologists can tell you is that if you have a well-mixed genetic stock you can interbreed them brothers two sisters brothers two sisters for many generations without risk of propagating a genetic defect but if you do that for say 20 generations the risk is real well we realizes Genesis is a story of man's early history when the risk was very low but by the time you get to Exodus the risk is significant and so Moses says parents and children are not to marry but also brothers and sisters aren't to marry before the time of Moses oh sure but he communicated to Moses says now is the time to lay down the prohibition to protect the species to protect the Union or a future generations so you know in certain societies disobeyed that like the Egyptians and so you see in their line of pharaohs for example where brothers and sisters did marry where they had a problem with hemophilia whereas the Israelites were free of that because there is the bleeding there's a bleeding disease right so that's a particular genetic effect that is propagated by incestuous relationship well incestuous relationships gives you a much higher probability of that happening interesting there's so many interesting creases if someone wants to know how did you just walk on the water well he appealed to God the Father now tells us in Philippians 2 he humbled himself and took the form of a man now he was God if he wanted to and he gave the Sermon on the Mount he could have levitated himself 15 feet above and gotten everybody's attention yes let's see his intent was to give us an example of humility not too well but notice that he was doing that just in front of his disciples there was no crowd around you're doing just in front of his disciples and then it was that incident with Peter where he was showing Peter hey you can do this too the same way I'm doing it appealing to God the Father you put your faith in Him because you know Jesus didn't perform miracles through his own capacities he appealed to God the Father Father in heaven well God of course has that power and capacity I know Jesus has that power in capacity now because he's no longer in that incarnate state he left that humbled state and took up once again the power and authority he's shared with God the Father so god of course since he created the oceans and the Sea of Galilee I mean walking on it's no problem jesus knew that and said it's no problem for me to do that through his power you know he was kind of special too to the Apostle Peter and showing him a lot of things when Peter cut the man's ear off Jesus just hid the evidence immediately don't you know whoa whoa you know but you know then why would he curse the Lord just right after the end denying boy well isn't that human personality though that we go to the extremes you know Paul and Peter was a man like that I mean he could do the tremendous things for God this all hope that if he was such a bad guy and made the Lord loved you he was the only one of the 12 that walked on water he stole but he walked on it so you know instead of and preached Pentecost and so many Jews received you know once he was filled with the spirit is it different what was Jesus trying to say to his disciples obviously he wasn't just doing some great feat to prove I am well as I shared with him in John 16 and 17 they were gonna do greater works and he did well in order to do that they were gonna have to have some faith and so he taught them things that he taught no one else and he performed miracles in front of them that he performed in front of no one else because they were the ones are gonna have to take the message to the world to the world is only gonna be 12 so I count Paul is the one that replaced Judas why is the Trinity not mentioned in the Bible well lots of doctrines we believe in are not mentioned in the Bible the big question is are they defined in the Bible and one of the things that we distribute through reasons to believe is a list of all the scriptures in the Bible that speak about the Trinity and so you can go through those scriptures we divided a four ways we have a scripture list for God as three persons you know three and one we have a scripture list for God as the Holy Spirit God is a father God is Jesus Christ God is one and then a list that talks about him being simultaneously singular and plural so yes there's nowhere in the Bible where it uses the word Trinity but there are many passages in the Bible that speak of God being simultaneously singular and plural the Great Commission does that go ye therefore baptize in the name singular of the Father Son and the Holy Spirit plural or you get into the first chapter of Genesis you see God right in Genesis 1 because it uses both the plural pronouns and the singular pronouns to describe God it talks about God created man in His image let us create him in and so how do you explain the fact that the text is simultaneously referring to God in plurality and singularity yeah and so it's certainly defined it's different all over the great prayer that all Hebrews pray here o Israel the Lord our God plural he is one I mean there's a clue right there you do you know where there's another one I'm not sure what chapters in its Genesis but where those three visitors come and visit Abraham on their way to Sodom Abraham falls down and worships them these three individuals and I think it calls him Jehovah capital Rd you know I mean a lot of interpreters believe that one is the Lord and the other two are angels well I'm I have always believed it was the Father Son and Holy Ghost well the fullness of the deity dwells in bodily form the person of Jesus Christ and God the Father doesn't have a body the Holy Spirit doesn't have a body but Jesus does but couldn't they assume one if they wished to well I mean the text tells us they were angels because the two angels went to visit no that's later on that the Angels then on went on down but it's to me as I read the text so you're thinking there were five yeah three these three came they sat down they ate with Abraham and then two angels went on down to Sodom and took care of the problem down there so many people have asked what why didn't Jesus speak in tongues if we believe in tongues and you know I think our pastor Jack answered that he said well Jesus it may not have record of Jesus speaking in tongues but he sure told us to you speak in tongues Jesus so there I answered that and I might start a denomination there's two incidents nobody's answered to my satisfaction the little girl Tabitha that he raised from the dead he spoke in another language there as she was raised from the death and on the cross he said he'll I heal I'll I'm us about the knee which being interpreted means so he evidently spoke in another tongue even on the cross well I mean again there's issues on both sides the New Testaments Greek and many people believe scholars believe that Jesus spoke in one language Aramaic but when the disciples recorded the New Testament they recorded it in Koinonia Greek I mean they quote the direct words but but hear this he spoke seven last words from the cross but only one said had to be interpreted which leads me to believe that he you know why doesn't it say of all the other things he spoke had to be interpreting interpreted me I've never had a soul satisfying answer from anyone on that and maybe there is none look before we've got to get into prophecy are you going to teach on prophecy yes yes we are yes yes yes endtime prophecy how current events foretold in the Bible or pointing to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ I'm fascinated by this subject and in fact quite frankly when I'm trying to witness to unbelievers and particularly wonderful Jewish people who don't believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah I often will go back and take them to their prophet Daniel or or Ezekiel or others who have prophesied events what what do you deal in this series that you've want this is audio tapes isn't it that you yeah that's each audio tapes and I'd be teaching on end times prophecy you know literally since I became a believer and but what this album focuses on are tools for solving problems in the prophetic word you know one third of the Bible's prophecy and people go to Revelation but that's simply a summary the Old Testament prophecies so to understand Revelation you have to have a good knowledge of the other third of the Bible the deals of prophecy because John will throw out one word that refers back to a couple of chapters in the Old Testament he assumes you know all about it mm-hm and so the thing we've been emphasizing in our teaching is for the subject of end times prophecy it's essential to integrate the Word of God rather focusing verse by verse chapter by chapter to take a theme and go through the whole of the Bible and pick up all the scriptures that deal with that theme and we pick a couple examples one that's interesting as we focus on the rapture because it's not an important issue in end times prophecy if it's pre-trib mid-trib post-trib we're all going but it's a good example of a problem that's recognized as unsolved we got proponents all the way through and so what we do there is we come up with a list of all the verses that deal with that subject or could possibly deal with that subject and you go through the list and say how do the three main theories score well you discover that the pre-trib rapture picks up 78% mid-trib 72% post-trib 67% all three get a majority none of them none of them get 100% I see so how do we go out then you know the answer the correct answer has to have a hundred percent and even if you get that all you've established is that you have a correct answer there may be more than one correct answer so we say when you get the answer don't think it's automatic correct well the partial rapture theory doesn't do very well at all right so what we do is we say okay let's take all these scriptures let's try a few dates and see if any get a hundred percent and when we show in the exercise is that you can come up with one that gets percent but it may be one of several correct answers what is one that does get a hundred personal one that does is if you put the event a few weeks before the middle because there you keep all the pre-trib rapture verses but you don't lose the midden post-trib rapture versus your Mac you must be right on well when you get into revelation 6 which often isn't included on scriptures that deal with the rapture you'll see a reference towards the end of the sixth chapter that all the peoples of the earth were blaspheming Jesus Christ now believers can't do that that means that there aren't believers around then you back up a little bit and you got these martyrs asleep under the altar and the kingdom of heaven but Jesus telling them to wait then you get into chapter 7 and you have a huge host revery tribe language nation and people no longer asleep but standing before the throne of God getting praise to God yeah every tribe language and people means that the great Commission's been completed and so between Revelation 6:9 and revelation 7 to the rapture event must take place and you know those last two verses of chapter 6 say you've got the condition of planet Earth that everybody blaspheming God put that into context with about half an hour of silence revelation 8:1 you know I take that as a period of time when God's Spirit has departed from the planet but it tells us in Revelation 8 it's a brief period of time and if you look at this seven-year period as reflected by seven days as you see it in Daniel then about half an hour runs between 4 to 16 days so that's why I say a few weeks before in the middle but I'm toting that simply as a possibly correct answer that will get you hundred percent but I'm not saying you can't demonstrate other correct answers I see dr. Ross all of the rest of these and maybe on one of your programs you could just go sir that'd be great either way we'll get our hotline to take care of it we have a hotline number it's area code eight one eight three three five fourteen eighty and it's 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Pacific time Monday through Friday okay you can encourage your skeptical friends to call in and okay you can call in with questions that skeptics give you two hours a day say that number again and we'll try to get it up on the screen and also for our radio audience okay it's eight one eight area code three three five fourteen eighty in the United States of America for those of you listening by shortwave we had people ask when are the rim Awards they are what is today the 27th Thursday the 27th and you just call this number mate could put it up quickly again we got two or three calls about we didn't say when it was this Thursday I think if dinner begins about six o'clock units really dress up really really pretty yes oh dear I didn't get nearly into prophecy as much as I wanted to tonight so many wonderful questions came in just real quickly dr us one or two current events that you feel have clearly been fulfilled well we start this series off by looking at the twenty five signs that the bible tells us to look for as the clue that the end times have begun Jesus gives 23 Daniel gives two but to me the clearest sign of all is the fulfillment of the Great Commission in other words we're not to be waiting for the return of the Lord the Lord is ready he wants to come back he's waiting for us to complete the job but the good news is this and this is based on research that's been done by a David Barrett the Episcopalian scholar and the u.s. Center for world mission has analyzed as data pointing out that we go from 1% of the world's population being evangelical Christians promoting the Great Commission leading people to Christ 1,500 1900 was 2% nineteen fifty three percent 1980 it was six percent today it's over eleven percent there's an exponential increase and a number of people not only becoming Christians but becoming committed to fulfilling the Great Commission we're close any predictions I mean can you give me a window of time here well I will make we have another handout we'll make available called signs of the end which we plot out on charts graph paper the the 25 signs and you can see where they're exponentiating and they exponentiate between the 1940s and the 1980s and you can get an average date and you can work from there and work through the rest of prophecies beyond the beginning of the end and remember to watch dr. Oz's program every Wednesday night on TV right after praise it's just right after praise on Wednesday night give me your best guess when is Jesus coming well let him answer I want to know okay if all of us evangelicals will increase our investments to the fulfillment of the Great Commission by a factor of 10 which is achievable that's going from a tenth of a percent of our income to one percent we can do it in five years or less no we just sit on our haunches and say let's enjoy the good life it could take as long as 20 30 40 years but I'm banking on God's people getting really committed and saying we're gonna make this happen sooner not later praise God that is exciting you some of you want to receive Christ right now let's pray say this little prayer with me right now those of you who heard this good word and you want to make Christ your savior your Lord just say this little prayer with us Oh God I'm a sinner I need a Savior I do believe Jesus Christ is my Savior I receive Lord Jesus into my heart as my Saviour now and forever it's that simple if you have opened your heart to Christ and invited a man you need to tell somebody and we love for you to tell us by dialing that number on your screen and that number if you can't see it is seven one four seven three one one thousand did we ever get dr.
