[Music] welcome back everybody today we're doing another armor test this one here has been requested a ton and there's a good reason for that these plates here are level three plates made from tactical scorpion gear here North Carolina actually so US made right here in the Carolina and the reason they've been heavily requested is because I've been sharing deals to these over on my Facebook page sometimes they're going as low as like seventy bucks for the set [ __ ] so that's very enticing to a lot of people who don't already have some body armor to pick up a set and say hey what the heck I don't have a set might as well pick up a set just in case right and I think that's sort of the primary use for them however what we're going to do today is see if they actually work at all and if you should be trusting yourself to them so with level three there are some things that will penetrate it we're going to get to that later in the review but it should stop most cartridges out there that you're going to see even rifle cartridges so we're going to put it in a little cheapo plate carrier here and check for a couple things sorry about the wind if that's getting to you guys but so my first concern of course is penetration as always with body armor that's number one the second concern is the build up layer here the coating is not all that thick now again these are budget plates so I'm not sure how much small it's going to prevent honestly if it can take one five five six around we're going to shoot here at about ten yards and not have small shoot up into what would be the neck area of the shooter I would be happy with that because really if you're getting shot at you're getting shot twice in the chest with rifle rounds you should be moving before that ever happened but we're going to test that and if it passes we're going to keep hammering it and see just kind of what happens to it and these do come in a set so the the actual front one here I should point that out is curved so that way it's a little bit more comfortable on your body armor and then the rear one here the rear plate is flat so that one just goes in your back of course so we're going to test them we're going to throw them the plate here and see what we'll do [Music] when just picking up which I apologize for but the plate is what we're here to talk about not the audio quality of the video so as you guys can see hit the plate and we did have some splash back coming off it just like you would have any steel target but actually what I was looking for is the area is up around the neck here and there's absolutely no small damage at all around the edge it looks like everything that came off it shot straight back out so obviously you'd want nothing to come out that's ideal but having nothing come up into your face is also ideal so that's a good compromise there and that rounds going fast and that's like I think it's going 2,950 feet per second when I actually chronoed it so then again this is not a like corduroy specter it's very cheap and very flimsy like an Amazon special so you take a look there at the plate and kind of see how it did it did in my opinion well you can see some of the small wanted to go up but it didn't and that's good so it did catch some of it for sure you guys could take a look at it and if that was you obviously you'd be having a better day than if you didn't have plates on at all before I get it to mess up with rifle rounds I want to see how the coating is going to do with a pistol round while some of it's still intact so stock pointing to some 165 grain Full Metal Jacket loads for my freedom munitions so we'll see how they do [Music] as we can see with the pistol round we had no splash back at all it looks like it actually captured everything and again along the edges no small coming out to that that really is kind of crucial so let's pull it out here and see that look like yep absolutely the coating captured everything the coating is starting to separate a little bit which we'll show you but again it did not penetrate the sides at all so here we go moving up there's where the 40 Cal hit right there as you guys can see the coating is starting to come out a little bit but again nothing came out you can see it's separating there I'm not sure if that's obvious on camera but there's a little ring around there that it actually separated from but you would be perfectly fine taking that hit and not even have any worry abouts fall at all so it seems that with pistol round has no problem there and we'll get back into the rifle rounds and see how it does that our be standard 124 grain from a 16 aja [Music] once again with the rifle rounds we had some splashback coming out let me check for falling around the edges anyway still nothing coming out of the edges at all again even with this super cheap carrier so that is good having it splashed back is better to slash up at your neck so yeah you can see there it didn't even dent the backside so that's kind of cool but yeah move it up so you guys can get a good look at it and that's where that one impacted just to the left of the five five six round and again did very very well you can see this ball is not even split here on the edge and anything that would have been coming up towards you is contained so again we're talking about a 70 dollar or 80 or 90 somewhat sub one $100 depending on when you buy it set of plates so so far I'm really happy with this performance what I'm going to do right now is just kind of hammer it a little bit and hopefully we'll separate it kind of show where it starts to fail and then after that we will maybe who knows maybe they could fail if some better 150 grain fusion 300 lat the nine-inch SB are going about 1750 feet per second in this rig so we'll put a few on there and see how it does think we separated the fall coding so let's go check it out as I was firing there I could actually see pieces of the actual coding flying out so that was kind of an indicator to me that there may be some problems and now at this point we do have some small that busted through the sides I kind of want to show you what that looks like to show you what I've been looking for because we have it now for you guys to see so you can see the small coming through the sides and then what I'm really looking for originally was this stuff here are these little pieces that were coming up so as you guys saw it stopped multiple rifle rounds and a pistol round before we had any sort of issues with that so again I'm for the money I'm impressed with this thing for sure and but it did of course fail out the spalling now there's zero penetration still let's pull it out and check it out alright so yeah you can see plate is still intact and it took a good bit of hits and still ticking starting to separate pretty much on every side this is definitely the best side but the rest of it there as you guys can see is definitely starting to come off now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take so I'm a pretty diminishing 55 green new manufacturers ammo two to three this one here chronograph sled around thirty two hundred and fifteen feet per second and we're going to see if this thing fails now I should point out it should fail level three is not ready to take something that fast so that is a super super hot round coming out of a 20 inch barrel so we're going to see what it will do again it should fail so don't be like too disappointed but it's very rare that you're going to encounter somebody using that and realize anyway but we will see we'll test it out as I suspected it would it punch right through so velocity kills Armour it's just the way it is a round going 3,200 plus feet per second it's going to be just about any armor out there outside of the level 4 stuff so as you guys could see punch through made a hole and actually came out the back side so it actually went through looks like it definitely broke upon a top broke apart so that's a good sign at least it was slowing it down but yeah it was tumbling in there humbled in the dirt and even went through the backside of it so that kind of round is going to penetrate it however again highly unlikely as a civilian in the United States you're ever going to encounter somebody shooting at you with a 20 inch AR and 55 grain ammo so all in all my take on these plates is for the money definitely recommend if you don't have a set of body armor I would check it out you know a lot of people think civilians don't need body armor but we've that discussion for another video but one thing I'll tell you is if you need it better to have it then not have it when you need it so for under 100 bucks that's a books night out at the bar for a lot of guys so I think the performance was pretty good and for the money I definitely wouldn't complain wind my nemesis anyway we're gonna wrap the video up there but thanks for watching guys thanks for subscribing hopefully you learned something here we'll put a link for these plates down below as always for you guys to check it out and we see you guys in the next video [Music] [Music]
