Surprise Guest TRANSFORMS the Shipping Container in One Week!

today's a special day your dad is here my dad is here for an entire week we're going to get the windows and the doors installed the legendary goat Barn container project is something new for us it's been dreamed up by our daughter adeli and being funded by you we're converting a shipping container into a full-fledged goat Barn feed storage and milking room and we're on an incredibly tight timeline as the kids are due in the next several weeks thankfully we've got Ashley's Dad here to help us with the next step surprise Cameo even for us it just kind of happened last minute yep uh so we have a bunch of metal tubing you're learning how to weld which is really exciting cuz you've been wanting to learn to weld for a long time years nothing like just getting thrown into the fire uh uh yeah so he's teaching you how to weld we're building these frames for the windows we're going to container open and installs it's going to be a crazy week let's get [Music] [Applause] started [Music] tubing uh this is our first time using metal so we're cleaning it cutting it to size and getting it installed we're building our very first window frame to make sure that it actually works before we move on to the other [Music] ones [Music] [Music] [Music] this morning we have one window frame welded look at these perfect welds I did they look amazing you can't even tell that I welded this you welded it uh-huh actually the weld you did the other day looked really good no dad did it this morning he was U messing with it we were having a little bit of issues trying to figure out the right temperature and speed that the wire came out but we think we nailed it down he's very proud of his wealth so it's now my turn to try to figure out how to W now you get the ticket yeah all excited let's finish these window yeah might be a p [Music] in hey hey [Music] hey [Music] all right we got two more frames to weld up Jonathan and my dad are going to get started marking where the windows go and hopefully cutting some holes in this very soon and then by the time I get done welding and grinding should be able to install at least one window today surely time to [Music] W I realize that I don't know a lot about welding but I'm pretty sure that most people who are good at welding aren't spending two or three times as much time grinding down the welds but it's okay so like my first you know did a little bit of this when we did our solar with ju Michelle but you know what this is the beginning it could be a new career for me who knows I might become the next Ray Ripple okay I'm not going to be that good but anyway she's amazing anyway uh one more to go let's uh hope that I can weld it a little better to where I don't spend 30 minutes [Music] [Music] grinding [Music] [Music] for [Music] today is the day Dad couldn't wait to get started so we're putting the first holes in the shipping container for Windows it's uh supposed to start raining like real [Music] soon [Music] all right we almost have one window cut Jonathan is watching to make sure our grass doesn't catch on fire uh that is a concern out here for sure also dad won't let me cut in the container which is probably a good thing let's be honest [Music] hey guys look at our hole we have a hole in the container the first one so we're going to clean up the edges well that's going to clean up the edges and then we're going to put the frame in and see if we can get what alled in place before the rain [Music] we're trying to make all the fo cuts um trying to make this opening as small as possible so that when we go to weld we don't have huge gaps um so that's why it's taking a bit longer we cut it like just at the right Dimension um and we're just grinding it down to where it to where it will fit very [Music] snuff um did we just burn a hole in the container trying to weld a frame in place maybe wire wire we used it [Music] all [Music] [Music] yeah [Music] he all right we got number four going in right there it's going to cut into the logo a little bit which I'm a little sad about but you know got to do [Music] it [Music] [Music] all right this morning Dad and I got up super early we're at one of our favorite places and uh getting all the supplies to work on inside of the Little Goat bar all of those parts are oh my [Music] [Music] God all right we're back out we got all four windows installed yday yesterday but we didn't get them off because it was raining it was windy still super windy but we do have some sun today so we're going to finish talking around not only the windows but also the Stitch Wells probably here we are grinding out spot for the door that's going to go into the milking room we have to do that so we can put in insulation on the floor and get the door up to the right height we got a whole bunch of lumber a whole bunch of insulation this project just leveled up up let's get [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] going [Applause] [Music] oh oh oh [Music] [Music] man uh yesterday started out like this and then we got blasted with wind and rain and it was a soy mess and we had to stop early and I'm hoping it doesn't do that again today the goal is we got to get your exterior door yeah because uh yeah we don't want rain coming inside also we have to start working on the floor today um do you know how that's going to work because I haven't been part of this conversation I don't understand okay well you're going to find out when we [Music] do [Music] you put an elephant on that or a small goat the girls got a very special delivery today so let's take it to them so they can unbox it it's something they really need so I think they're going to be excited about it our girls put their High sea boots through the ringer every day you'll find our kids outside doing chores or helping us around the homestead and just about every time they reach for their High SE boots with cold weather fast approaching it was time for a new pair of rubber boots of insulation below a half inch of plywood and then eventually we'll put our lolium down on top of that but what we're doing right now is getting the half inch down and then we're going to come back so on the half inch we did foil side down 1 in is going to be foil side up taping all the seams this means we might get a frame tomorrow cuz we'll have this floor done dad's going to cut out that other door things are moving things are happening [Music] all right we got the first little bit of flooring down the girls are marking where the screws need to be screwed down through that OSB and insulation into the soap floor so we're going to get that Mark get those set and then we're going to cut our last door get the frame in maybe even make a door we'll see how much time we [Music] have [Music] [Music] one thing that we forgot to get was a door handle I'm headed to the local hardware store and I'm going to get the cheapest one I can find because Adel wants an a cool door handle I'm not sure what that means but anyway um get the cheapest one we can always replace it later but we have rain coming in this weekend of course so we got to get it closed up okay try it see the de work push it in a little there you go nice y door good morning today is the last day with my dad he'll be here soon we have the rest of the floor to do the barn door and we're hoping we can get some of the framing started it's a lot of uh plans for today but I'm hopeful that we can get at least the door done and the floor if we get that done I'll be happy I'll be happy no matter what but but um if we can get my dad to like just show us some pointers on framing cuz that's also something we've never done before then we'd feel a little bit more comfortable building it out ourselves concentrating on cutting that hole for the door getting that made and installed this [Music] morning well we're back out this morning you can see uh we already have another hole in the building uh this is going to be a sliding door I'm very anxious to see how this all comes together but Ashley is busy painting over here what are you doing well I am priming all the steel around like our new frames and stuff we're expected to have rain and snow tomorrow so I want to get them protected eventually we paint the whole container but for now this will help it not rest it's always something right there's always some weather or some temperature or something coming in but we just don't want this to like rust y it's going pretty fast so I think I'll get it done here in the next hour [Music] sweet [Music] with the Barn Door area prepped it was finally time to start building building it out and finish up the [Music] week all right the door is welded in place well the frame of the door is welded in place which means I can get started on finishing this floor Jax is GNA help me we're going to sweep it out lay all the insulation get all the plywood down johnon will come screwed on in and I'll go help with the second part of this sliding [Music] door [Music] [Music] is it heavy it's not too bad I'm pretty heavy I mean it's not bad for too towards me walk towards the container other way towards the container even The Ridges M of course what a week oh my goodness I cannot believe everything we got done we cut six huge holes in the shipping container we did custom welded frames we put in the doors and windows and an insulated floor yeah and I just want to say thank you to my dad who spent an entire week out here you know we couldn't have gotten this far without you so thank you so much and thank you Mom for allowing Dad to come out and hang out with us for a week yeah and it was just in time too because right after we left we got treated to this beautiful snow day inside most of the time but
