you promise to sing well all right let's turn to song number 93 children of our heavenly father i know this is sometimes sung during a baby um dedication but we are all children of our heavenly father and i love the words of this uh song as well let's lift it this evening song 93 [Music] children of the heavenly father safely [Music] is [Music] it is [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] amen i like those words neither life nor death shall sever from the lord his children ever and then that last verse though he giveth or he taketh his children nair forsaketh his the loving purpose solely to preserve them pure and holy amen that's all that he does as i said this morning and so let's turn back to song 79 song 79. again a song that is commonly sung for specials but as i was order of the service maybe someone has a testimony before we go to prayer anyone with the testimony and i love the lord with all my heart and uh i just brother john i want to be ready amen that's right i want to be ready and i want to take as many people with me i know i say that a lot of times but i want to leave a path behind for my children and for anybody that might be watching where i work where i would live whatever i do amen i want them to see a path that would lead them to god i love him with all my heart tonight amen amen amen amen praise god amen all right well let's do go to the lord in prayer and let's do remember the prayer requests that we have been praying for and let's remember those that have been on the list let's do um continue to pray for sister day as she's out taking care of the sick for her family they are doing better but let's do just continue to uh pray for them let's continue to pray for brother lee's sister uh dorothy dobbins let's remember that pray for sister crick in prayer that god would help and touch and then tony dershide let's pray for him as he's in the hospital with covent and a good a good note we have been praying and mentioning uh several times brother boyd's son-in-law and he had a very very serious surgery but came through it well and the last i heard that they were going to take him possibly off of the ventilator is that correct they're trying to now so thank the lord for that and let's just continue to pray for these that have been sick sister um thompson nancy thompson with back issues let's do pray with her for her and then let's pray for brother foresee and it is good to see him here although as a pastor i would have done the same thing but now looking at it i want to go back there and throw them over my shoulder and take them back to the house and say this is where you need to be rest recuperate but i'd have done the same thing so i can't say um too much but let's do pray for him as he is facing a routine surgery but um let's let's do pray for him that that god would help and touch amen during this time let's pray for the spiritual needs of the church let's do pray for our mission our service tonight let's pray for brother john mark forcy pastor john mark forese as he preaches and uh let's pray for the uh live stream requests the vbs children i don't know about you but i i'm excited to see this good group of of children but not just children but the teens i will call them pre-teens teens over here that's exciting to see them and i appreciate appreciate those let's continue to pray for them pray for the local ih convention it's coming up in shelbyville and then let's pray for the families uh that have experienced deaths uh due to the covid uh the pattersons the medals and the staedtlers let's remember these that god will just help and touch do you have a special request you would like to make mention anyone with a special request oh nathan hunt thank you i did i do remember that from um from this morning and forgot that yes let's do pray for nathan hunt all right if not let's if there's not any more let's stand i'm sure we all have unspoken requests and burdens on each of our hearts that we and god knows all about every one of those brother russell would you uh pray for us this evening thank you lord for the avenue of prayer that's always open god lord we never get a busy signal and you never say leave a message but you're always there and we know we get through and have an audience with you and we thank you lord for the confidence that people have to ask us to pray for them and lord these names that are on the board and there's needs with everyone and and they're buried lord in the need but we're glad that you're not a just a god of one set uh a problem that you can help lord but you are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that any of us can ask or think and we thank before that and as we come to you lord we're coming in faith believing tonight because we have seen you work in marvelous ways lord and you have worked in this congregation right here and some that are here tonight lord and your power has been manifested and they've received your touch lord and we thank thee for that and that gives us a confidence lord and encouragement to believe for other things which we do right now we pray lord forever a request that is listed on the wall here some are a bereaving lord of lost family and we know something about that lord and it's not easy but we're glad in those times we've found you to be one that sticks right with us and never leaves us florida and uh we thank thee tonight for the confidence we have that you're going to help these people up lord through the struggle and lord and we're thankful that uh those that have gone on to be with thee that have left the life a testimony behind them lord they are enjoying the joys of heaven today or tonight because of the way they live and oh god help us as everyone in this congregation to live as if this were the last day we would live and we pray that i would just continue to bless in this service lord and bless in the preaching of thy word lord and the singing of special songs oh god may there be a message in each one that we could take home with us tonight and ruminate on it this coming week we ask it in thy name amen amen praise god praise god amen how many is happy in the lord amen how many how how many of you are fed up you should be after a delicious pitch in my my my that was um that was good and i even had some more of that shoefly pie pennsylvania pie and if you didn't try any shame on you you should try it it's better than what it looks and better what it sounds like it's good but anyway we we appreciate appreciated all of the wonderful wonderful desserts i i still brother fish did you ever take a vote for the favorite desserts everybody won i was going to say the ones i sampled i think all ought to win but so anyway it was it was a good time and i do want to say as well thank you uh to the fishes and everybody that was involved for the friday night uh fall party that was that was a that was enjoyable really enjoyed it and uh we are we're glad to be able to be a part of that let's do remember the announcements and uh let's remember fasting and prayer every friday until revival meeting and as we have been admonished by pastor john mark that it doesn't necessarily have to be food uh it can be um it can be facebook it could be social media it could be anything i'm going to tell you what nowadays with uh phones so readily and we we like to get on it and whatever have you ever tried to fast social media it's almost harder than fasting food and i tried it one time for a choir tour and i want to tell you what i thought the first two or three days i was going to go crazy because i'm not typically ocd but i am when i look at my phone and it has like i have so many comments on facebook i want to get them off of there and i pick it up and i can't see that can't can't do that can't do that but finally after a while it's rather enjoyable it was rather enjoyable i didn't find out when this one was going to bed and when this was going to sit down and eat and when this one's going to get a shower and some of the stuff that shouldn't be put on facebook but anyway it is and i was i was rather enjoying it but anyway so do fast and that that's i know that was a little bit maybe humorous but i'm serious sometimes that's harder to do than what you think and god will bless and honor you for those uh efforts and so remember that that's right that is right and so let's let's do pray and and do some prayer praying and fasting also the shelbyville ih convention is september the 21st the 23rd at the bible holiness church there and i think brother plank's going to be speaking and i know brother clemens is going to be singing and so let's um let's attend if you if you can fall youth rally right here um at noblesville uh on the 24th from 6 p.m there will be a service here in the auditorium after that service they'll be moving to the flc for some time of fellowship till about midnight um i won't i wouldn't make it till midnight in fact i was telling asking brother foresee if he remembers and this has been maybe 10 10 years ago now probably more than 10 years ago they had a lock-in up in michigan and i was filling in up at st louis a church there in st louis and brother and sister foresee was there i had driven up spent the day here at the school working and drove up and somewhere i said i'm tired i'm just gonna i'm just gonna sit down here next thing you know i was out they were waking me up says it's time to go home i don't even remember i i was out they were screaming and yelling so that'd probably be the same thing that i would be doing if i came instead i'm going to be down in alabama with a bunch of preacher boys so but let's do remember that fall youth rally also the life change in the life chain in westfield indiana october the third be there at 2 p.m i think it actually starts at 2 30 is that correct i think so you need to be there at 2 o'clock anyway follow the 2 o'clock 1. baptism october the 3rd october the 3rd at 6 pm we're going to be having a baptismal surface so remember that and i did tell brother forsey that i'm still licensed with the quaker so if you don't want to be dunked sprinkled or poured we can dry clean you all right so that that came from that came from dr williams he always said we believe in dry cleaning so anyway but no i i do believe in in baptism so we're going to have a baptismal service i also when i was doing this at church i always told him i would dunk him twice out in pennsylvania it was three times and so this would be a fourth time and i said i won't let you come back up until you agree to pay your tithe we had good paying tithe members of my church i just gave brother foresee that idea he might try it i don't know but so be ready for it john glick family october the 20th at 7 pm remember that again as as has been said if their other services get cancelled then this one would be canceled but at this point we are still planning on having the john glick family and then fall revival as the ushers are coming forward october the 28th through the uh 31st with dr bob bolas and if you've not heard dr bob bolas you need to come he is a tremendous speaker and i always enjoy hearing dr bolas preach amen brother hilagos would you pray for the offering please lord jesus we praise you for all you've done and sing for us at this time after which pastor john mark forsey will bring us the message that god has laid on his heart let's just open our hearts as they minister to us through singing and then pastor john mark as he delivers god's word [Music] somewhere just across the jordan river is a place [Music] where the stream of life is flowing there forever and the crown of life is waiting there for me that sounds like home to me like where i want to be there'll be no tears [Music] [Music] as we sing up his grace and glory where the saints of god will be that sounds like home to me they say testimony you would like to share the opportunities to be able to reach out this morning i had a wonderful opportunity to talk to one of our best kids and i was reminded once again why we do what we do and i walked away with kind of a heavy heart with a hopeful heart and i'm very excited about what god is doing for some of our young people and for some of our teenagers that are coming in they're coming back for a purpose and they're coming back the reason and people get involved paddle on back and say hey i'm praying for you did you have a good week at school it's just a simple sentence they may not they may just say yes but if you keep asking that week after week every week you may stimulate more conversation with them and you may be a reason why they keep coming back and they're safe from that world it just brought it all full awareness to me as i walked off the bus and as i even looked in the young lady's eyes and said this is why we do this yes i said these conversations that you and i are having i said this is why we do this this is why we come and pick you up because we don't want you to go to hell and i'm i'm just so thankful for that it's been going over and over and over in my mind today and i want to be faithful i want to be consistent and i want to love him i love jesus amen amen anyone else good amen [Music] i earlier i was thinking as we were seeing the wonderful of it all and just to think that god loves me and the other songs were they were blessing me and reminding me of what i came from and how god has just walked with me faithfully and he's brought me to this time in my life and he's kept me faithful and true i want to thank the lord that even though i i didn't know a lot when i was growing up about jesus um the lord made it available to me through bus ministry through people taking me to church through the church people loving me i didn't have a christian atmosphere at home my parents let me go to church they were fine with that they didn't mind sending me off and you know my parents are wonderful people and i'm glad that they've chosen to live for jesus today um at that time they weren't living for the lord they just had a focus on other things things that were not eternal and even though they were living that life they still wanted to give me an opportunity to be better than what they were choosing and i'm thankful for that but it took some people to love me in if i'd have gone to church and people just ignored me then it wouldn't have been attractive but i went to church and then people talked to me and they showed me what jesus really is and they love me in and i'm so thankful for that god put special people in my life and let me know through them that he loved me and he had a purpose for me and it just kept happening over and over and i'm thankful that he helped us choose him through others i love him and i want to serve him i'm going to give you a chance to testify at the end of service but if you have one right now feel free to do so if not psalm 107 very thankful to dr whitaker for filling in this morning and helping me out tonight uh found i he was supposed to do the uh prayer announcements and then i forgot he was leading singing too uh and i thought about getting someone else but you know george johns always said when you got a good horse ride him so we're thankful for him for filling in so thank you dr whitaker no negative connotations comparing you to a horse or anything you know just so we're clear psalm 107 verse 1 o give thanks unto the lord for he is good for his mercy endureth forever let the redeemed of the lord say so whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy mark chapter 5 verse 19 says this howbeit jesus suffered him not but saith unto him go home to thy friends and tell them how great things the lord hath done for thee and have had compassion on thee my text tonight would be the first part of that verse in psalm 107 verse 2 let the redeemed of the lord say so i want to ask if my mother would pray for me this evening [Applause] opportunity and pleasure and privilege we have to come to church tonight we pray lord that you used to work in a special way to minister to our hearts i pray she'd give him wisdom and clarity i want you to think tonight of a significant event that has happened in your life but the reason that it's so significant to you is because you were there when it happened think an event of an event that has happened in your life that's significant to you because you were there i was there when i was born don't remember much um but that was pretty significant i remember not a whole lot about my first birthday but again i was there that was pretty significant but one thing i do remember was i believe it was the seventh grade we had recess we still had recess back then i don't know if they have that anymore nowadays but i'll never forget we had recess and back then we always used to play football of course you couldn't you couldn't play tackle it was always two hand touch and i'll never forget we got down to the end of recess and all the all the teens were filing into the school and i was one of the stragglers that was still out on the football field and there was two other guys that i remember being there one was named colby and the other one i forget his name but i wouldn't say it anyway because he's the villain in this story i'll never forget colby he was a kid who was slightly shorter than the average kid and he was the type of kid who didn't use his physical abilities or the lack thereof he used uh the mental the the mental to to get under people's skin he was just kind of that way and i'll never forget he had the football and he was doing something or he was you know making fun of this other this other guy and i'll never forget this other guy who was even bigger than me at the time he ran up behind colby and tackled him from behind and as soon as he tackled him colby started screaming and i'll never forget uh this other guy gets up and he walks away with a scowl on his face he wasn't happy and i'll never forget i was i was standing there and i looked down and colby's arm looked like an inchworm trying to do the worm it was just kind of like this part of his arm was just yep and i'll never forget i tried to say something but nothing would come out the principal at the time of the school he was standing at the doorway holding the door for kids i think he saw it happen but immediately i was like and i couldn't get anything out because my stomach was in my throat and it was absolutely just horrific to see someone's arm in a shape that it should not be uh since then i've seen more things like that you know you watch videos where basketball player you know something happens and the leg goes sideways but i'll never forget that happening and my stomach being my throat not being able to say anything and so the ambulance came god called me they took him away took him to the hospital and a little bit later on i was called to the principal's office i was called there to give an account of what happened because i was there in the events that led up to his arm being broken and so i'll never forget having to give an account of the things that led up to that event happening why because i was there when it happened the event that i told you to think of just a moment ago is significant to you why well for one i told you to think of something that happened to you when you were there one reason it's significant to you is because you were there when it happened november 22 1963 is a very significant date in our country's history although it's a slightly significant date to me it's probably of more significance to someone like brother russell who would have been alive during that time and remembered where he was when he first heard the news that jfk had been assassinated september 11 2001. a date that many of us here remember is a significant date in our memory however that date means very much more to a lady by the name of sharon framoli you see sharon was sitting at her desk on the 80th floor of the north tower when american airlines flight 11 struck that tower by what can only be described as a miracle sharon somehow survived that day 9 11 will always be a significant memory in the mind of sharon primoli why because she was there when it happened my thought this evening is how's my testimony and i want us each and every one of us to ask ourselves that question here this evening how's my testimony in the greek means this a record a report or more it's more commonly known as witness in the court of law when someone is asked to take the stand and to answer questions regarding the matter at hand they're called a witness it's their obligation to give an honest account of what it is that they witnessed it's their obligation to let the jury know what took place there's going to be many times throughout your life pretty much on a daily basis that you will have the opportunity to be a witness or to give an honest account of what has happened in your life you can do one of two things the first thing that you can do is to remain silent and invoke your fifth amendment right by not saying anything now a jury isn't supposed to infer guilt by someone's silence in court just because someone says that they plead the fifth and they choose not to answer a jury technically is not supposed to use that as a sign of guilt however if you refuse to give an account of what the lord has done for you and asked you're speaking loud and clear and the courtroom of heaven is taking note i want to be clear here that it's not a sin if you remain silent in your seat and don't testify every single time that the preacher asks for a testimony certain people have more trouble than others when it comes to public speaking and i want to be very clear that is perfectly fine no one should ever be scolded for their discomfort of public speaking however there is a difference between being afraid of public speaking and being ashamed of talking about what the lord has done for you in your life luke 9 26 says this for whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words of him shall the son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his own glory i heard someone say one time that there are two two types of testimonies testimonies that are horizontal meaning they only talk about what's going on here on earth it's usually all about them and it doesn't get any higher than right here but then there's testimonies that are vertical meaning testimonies that praise god for who he is for what he's done it's not about us it's not about you it's about him and what he's done for us a testimony is a public thing it's to tell others what has taken place it's a public thing it's not private your life is a testimony one person said this your personal testimony however meaningful it is to you is not the gospel so it's important that we remember yes our testimony is a very important tool in in showing others the love of christ and the mercy of christ but to remember our testimony is not gospel that's when it's important that we point them to the scriptures that we point them to christ your testimony encourages others when others see and hear what you're going through in your life or or perhaps what you've gone through already at this point and they hear how god is provided for you when you've needed it'll encourage them it'll bolster their faith it'll bolster their faith that god will meet their need as well it doesn't mean that god will will give in to your everyone and give you what it is that you ask for just because you want it but god promises he'll never leave us nor forsake us he'll give us exactly what we need when we need it young people young married couples there will come a day when you'll better understand just how much and i speak to myself here as well there's going to come a day when you better understand how important and vital your testimonies are to those in the church other people need to hear how god has helped you and your spouse in the early part of your marriage other people need to hear how god has helped you through that that battle with cancer i think of brother jeremy hopkins other people need to hear how that how that god has helped you through the loss of a child other people need to hear how god has helped you to pay the bills when you weren't exactly sure how you were going to make it from one paycheck to the next not only does your testimony encourage others it reminds you it reminds yourself of the goodness and the mercy of god psalm 89 1 says this i will sing of the mercies of the lord forever with my mouth will i make known thy faithfulness to all generations whenever i feel down or discouraged i like to think of what god has done for me in my life it's at that point when i start recalling everything that he's ever done that i start forgetting what got me down in the first place and i start thanking god for his goodness to me i encourage you sometime this week if if you're feeling down or whether you're not feeling down at all i encourage you to think of what god has done for you try and tell someone your story try and tell someone your testimony what you've witnessed because you were there when it happened not only will that probably encourage them it'll remind you it will remind yourself of the goodness of the grace and mercies of god now although we haven't seen jesus face to face like the apostles did we are to tell others of our experience with jesus and i want to say that it's of no less importance than that of the apostles we are to tell how that we were once dead in our trespasses and sins as it says there in ephesians chapter 2 verses 1 and 5 but now we're made alive in christ we are to tell others how that as in first john chapter one it says this that that we lived in darkness but now we live in light we are to tell others because we were there when it happened my question to each and every one of us here this evening is are you testifying yes i'm talking about testifying in church when when when you're able to but more so than that as i said the word testimony in the greek means more than just to testify it means witness so my question tonight is everywhere you go your job the grocery store the gas station everywhere you go what kind of witness are you leaving to others people that come in contact with you on a daily basis is your life a testimony a witness to what it is that christ has done for you when you go to work do people say that guy right there he's the heavenly music guy do people say i get in trouble when i go to his office because he's a principal but i know that he loves god and i know that that he's a christian that he's the real deal when you have patients that come to your office like brother miller back dr miller back there do they say yeah he's a doctor he's all right or do they say he's a doctor he's a good doctor but more so than that i know that he loves god because of the witness that he's leaving behind is your testimony is your witness evident to everyone that looks on your life to everyone that comes in contact with you on a daily basis what kind of witness what kind of testimony are you leaving lord we thank you for this day today for the privilege that we have of being here in church this evening i pray that as we go forth from here tonight and throughout this coming week help us to remember the message that you gave this evening lord help us to remember that our testimony is important what we have to share with others is important but not just what we share verbally but lord how we live our lives how we conduct ourselves on a daily basis help us to remember that that actions speak louder than words help us to leave behind a christ-like witness a witness that says that that we are living our lives for christ that we love him with all of our heart mind soul and strength we love you we give you the praise for what it is that you've done for us here today i pray that you would keep us safe as we go home and we won't fail to praise
