[Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] thank the lord for the truth of that song that they just played and then a wonderful promise and a wonderful reminder to us this evening that he will be with us welcome good to have each and every one of you with us this evening and if you're able to stand would you stand with me for opening prayer please father in heaven as we come before your throne of grace this evening we thank you for this day that you have given to us we thank you for your many blessings and mercies that you have bestowed upon us and we pray father in heaven that as we have gathered here this evening on this wednesday evening lord this midweek service father in heaven that you would come in power and might and you would meet with your people that our hearts will be blessed challenged and courage and drawn closer to you and that you will receive all the praise all the glory and all the honor we have gathered here father in heaven this evening to worship you to hear from you and we pray father in heaven that you o god would come and meet with us in this service tonight and we'll give you the praise preaching your name we pray amen remain standing brother nate comes to lead us in some singing please as they were playing that song i just realized how how good of a reminder it is that how firm of foundation is our god and so i'm going to switch it up on the people in the back i'm gonna start with that song i know it's not something we normally sing on a wednesday night but i think that's a good reminder to remember that god is our foundation that we can stand on him so let's go ahead and sing that [Music] foundation [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] jesus [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] my [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Music] my [Music] [Applause] [Music] shall be [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] [Music] is uh [Applause] [Music] ah [Applause] [Music] you guys may be seated i'm so grateful for that song for the truth that it says that it's god talking to us telling us that he won't forsake us and i've found that true in my life there were times when i felt so all alone there were times i was thinking about this during one of our chapel services actually there were times before i was a christian where i would get down where i felt so alone uh it was all dark to me and i didn't feel like i had a friend in the world but after i came to jesus after well after he came to me he sought me and he brought me to him after that there are still times when i'm down there are times when it seems dark but i always know that i have a friend in jesus and that he's always there and that he's never going to forsake me and i'm so grateful for that i hope i hope that you are tonight and i hope you found that true in your own life all right next please turn into song number 368 song number 368. your testimony tonight your heaven bound and this world has no hold upon you no attraction whatsoever praise the lord anybody have a praise or testimony you want to share before we go to lord in prayer here this evening in psalms and and it's very um i think it's very funny to me when it tells about old people who can still be a witness to the lord and they are fat and flourishing i thank him for answering prayer every day and i'm praising tonight amen amen anyone else have a praise for testimony this evening and i'm heading toward heaven and i have no doubt that i'm going away amen anyone else and i appreciate all many prayers he's answered for me lately [Music] i'm glad i was amen in the christian family because if i wasn't i wouldn't be heading the wrong way right now yeah if i didn't go to church i would just have been saved last year maybe but um i'm glad that i was saved i was saved several times and i finally realized that you don't need to be safe two times just more than two times just to get to heaven you're saved one time and you're not gonna leave god's family unless you choose to this satan can't die [Music] i need to actually transcribe i i did that and i'm safe amen anyone else i am so thankful uh like i said there's several prayers [Music] amen amen chris texted me just to see him saying that pamela had her last visit with the home health care nurse and he said her lungs were 99.9 better and that's just an answer to prayer because she was way down and she was struggling and everything and i know others are still struggling but yet god has answered prayer and we thank the lord for that amen yes well if you have a testimony we don't want to cut you off we want to hear it but i'm going to go ahead and go down through the prayer list this evening so let's continue to be praying for the needs and i don't have i've got an old old list i'm sorry i grabbed the wrong one i looked at the list and it had said august announcements so there you have the list there so let's be praying for those let's continue to pray for sister hilagos god will continue to touch her sister nancy thompson's in a lot of pain uh back issues so let's be praying for her as well tony durscheid we sent out a request this evening for him he is in riverview hospital and he was having a difficult time breathing and uh sent a text to his wife simply one more pray i guess he was really struggling there for a little while and uh but word came back that he's they were able to do whatever had to be done and he's uh better in that aspect but do continue to remember him in prayer continue to pray for him and god would touch him and then also for dorothy dobbins his brother lee's sister pray for her god will continue to be with her and then sister beth crosby's mother and father continue to pray for them what i read on facebook sounded good like god was giving them a clear answer and intervening in that case so pray that they will have wisdom and that they will do what they feel god is wanting them to do in that aspect so pleased to continue to pray for uh those needs also brother cassidy sister heart socks brother carl i have not received word that he passed away i know he's on hospice grandma crick is uh on hospice as well so remember her in prayer i was able to visit with her the other day she is ready to go uh excited talking with brother campbell and he said you know some people are feel fearful of going he said but sister crick's not she's i'm ready i'm ready to go and uh so do pray for her and uh thank the lord for a testimony like that uh that that she has that she's sharing so continue to remember her in prayer uh also sister russell is uh really suffering some pain i haven't heard from sister whitmer but i'm sure she probably is dealing with some major pain due to the weather that we're having because i know sister russell said that she was not going to be able to be here this evening because of that very thing a lot of physical needs a lot of people that are sick in the hospital and so on but do continue to pray for them that god would undertake uh we serve an awesome god and continue to remember my relatives my wife's relatives uh as as you think as they come to your mind if you would and then also continue to pray for naomi cook you have any requests that you want to mention that may not have already been mentioned he's struggling herself just he didn't see anything but he's just struggling with emotional development and then this lady's lost her husband um and her family so just remember this family and then also from herself and that he'll just um [Music] okay let's remember that request continue to pray for the statler sankey families in the passing of brother steve stetler and then meadows i believe it was in patterson families uh remember those as well that god would undertake there and give comfort and strength any other request okay just remember that request yes okay let's remember that request i'm asking if you're able if you would stand with me for prayer i'm going to ask brother campbell if you'd lead us to the throne of grace this evening brother let's let our voices together with him [Music] for your blessings for the help that you have given today we thank you for the touch that tony has received we pray that you would continue to touch him bless in his life helping with this breathing situation we know that you're able for him we're trusting you for it today we pray that you would be with sister thompson as the lord that you would help her we pray that you would rebuke the pain that she's suffering with give her strength encourage your heart we pray and encourage our heart through your touch upon her we pray lord that you would be with sister crick again tonight we thank you for the way that you have touched her the way that you have helped her the great things that you've done in our life and we pray lord that you will continue to touch her help her in a mighty way we pray for uh the different needs that were mentioned we know lord that you're able for all of them we don't know all of them we don't know the nature of each one but we pray lord that your will would be done and accomplished in all ways we pray for david's request to the one with the brain tumor we pray lord that you would touch her help her we pray jesus pray that your will will be done throughout this service help us all to honor you with our lives our testimony whatever we do may it be to honor and glorify you we pray for the tattler family we pray lord that you would undertake for them be with the patterson family we know that you're able for them as well we pray lord that you would undertake for them tonight help those that are sorrowing you know all about them and we pray this evening that your will would be accomplished help in a mighty way and all that you do for us we'll thank you and we'll praise you for it amen you may be seated just a couple reminders for the announcements i don't have the paper here so you just go ahead and if you put them up there and do not forget every friday prayer and fasting for revival that'll be here before you realize it can hardly believe that we've got one sunday left in this month and then we'll be going into october so please do be praying for the revival for dr bolas as he'll be coming to minister to us tomorrow evening is the closing service for the regional or the local ihc there in shelbyville indiana so if you would like to go to that that'll be tomorrow evening at six o'clock i believe friday is the fall pilgrim youth rally here uh 6 p.m to midnight and those that want to come you can come it's open to every individual that we're not saying certain age bracket is for anyone who wants to come i've asked the churches to have the young people from various churches to have a song prepared to sing for that evening and then uh reverend tim forest he's going to be bringing a message devotional and then we'll be going over to the flc afterwards to have a time of uh fun and games and food and over there so you are invited you are welcome encouraged to come uh and if you say well i don't play basketball volleyball well come to the service and watch the those that do play if you want or you can leave whatever your true whatever your choice is but do try to be there for be there for that this friday live chain october the third 2 p.m is when you need to be there my understanding is at the corner of 32 and union street they're going to be for going down both of those streets standing there you need to make sure you have a mask on i believe the paper is back there on the bulletin board if it's not let me know and i'll make sure that it gets put up but that is october 3rd 2 pm you need to be there the live chain is going to be from actually 2 30 3 30 so if you're able to be a part of that that is a wonderful way to be able to show your support for uh pro pro-life and so i would encourage if you're able i know a lot of people want to get a nap on that on a sunday afternoon but if you're able i would encourage you go and be a part of that baptism service will be that evening and uh we have a lot of individuals and i'm excited encouraged about this uh we're still working the details and getting it planned out trying to make sure everything goes smooth so that will be october 3rd in the evening service we'll be doing that that's your last one oh john glick family october the 20th uh wednesday evening 7 p.m uh they will be here lord willing to minister to us in song and then the fall revival which we've mentioned already the 28th through 31st with dr bolas and i encourage you be please be praying for that and come if at all possible i know some of you work right up to church time a lot of the a lot of time but the evening services during the week will be starting just like our midweek service it's seven o'clock uh and then on uh saturday and sunday evenings it'll be at six uh starting at six o'clock but the uh thursday friday will be at 7. so try to get in you will thoroughly enjoy this time and it will be refreshing spiritually and mentally to you dr bolas is a tremendous speaker i'm looking forward to his ministry to us is every heart clear anyone have a praise or testimony yes brother john i haven't prayed first of all i thank the lord for pastor forcing in our church a special praise and thanks for the father making things available for paths of foreign surgery and everything i thank the lord for the medical advances that he's allowed to happen in our country and in our world i know years ago this is a different type of situation but when you had a surgery years ago and you didn't get up and walk for at least two or three days and you probably ended up a week in the hospital this is a little different maybe but i thank the lord for their advancements yes we just thank lord for all the provisions he made to to take care of our pastor thank you brother john very grateful testified we've had this situation going on here for about a month and a half and our main our main supplier of concrete that we have had there was a gentleman there at that facility that for whatever reason took a very disliking to me and didn't want to bring us concrete and when you're a concrete company you don't have concrete that makes it pretty hard to do business with you and we we struggling and everybody else was busy and it's a very busy time of year very busy time right now season but um this week monday morning i got a phone call and from my salesman he said well i got good news and i got bad news what's the i said just tell me what it is i'll deal with it so the bad news is we're still busy but this fellow has been giving you a hard time no longer works for our company and uh we're we're dedicated to getting back to taking care of you and help them help them account for their poor country so that was a very big answer to prayer i've never prayed that somebody get fired before i don't think but it actually worked out for our better our benefit and god knows how to take care of problems and and uh it's it's it's wonderful to know that i've got an office full of people and even people out in the field that are praying and that are uh outgoing to god in prayer and asking him to help us out and take care of us but they have the faith and know that he's going to take care of us and that's a it's a rewarding thing to have and i want to give him the praise and give him the glory amen anyone else and every we've only had a every single tuesday up until now um the devil has just got in my mind uh saying hey casey you're not doing the right thing because i every every tuesday i try to get like a little food for thought at the beginning before we start what our routine is and every single time the devil has gotten in my mind saying that's not right you shouldn't be thinking like that the guys don't want to hear that blah blah blah but last yesterday um i had a thought that i wanted to give to the guys and all all that day i just had peace about that thought and i just the moment i realized i had peace i asked the lord keep this peace here within me up until prayer meeting and even afterwards and he kept that peace within me all day and that night in prayer meeting the lord just showed up and he has a lot this year showing up but like last night just stuck out to me because he's shown up because i allow god to keep the peace within my heart all day and i'm just so grateful that he gives a peace like we've never known before amen i thank the lord for what he means to me tonight i want to thank him for our answered prayer this week i really appreciate it and i love him tonight and i am determined to to serve him and go through with him amen i'm trying to thank the lord tonight for multiple answers to prayer how he's so faithful to us when we call his name i think the church family praying for sister gloria russell who lost her son to coven and she wanted me to personally thank everybody tonight for praying for her son even though she knows he's in heaven but it's been a loss and so she just wanted me to personally thank everybody and i want to thank the lord for his many answers to prayers faithfulness yes dude continue to remember the russell family in prayer and there's they agree the loss of that loved one anyone yes yes amen anyone else it's sister shipman remember now thy creator the days around you i'm so glad that i'd be attacked there was cousins and different ones and took the lesser weight i first got saved when i was nine and nine to twelve god helped me but when we had a split of course they were scattered but god was faithful and came back when i graduated from high school 17 years old he dealt with me and i was under conviction that's a if you ever get under conviction god knows how to deal that point and i'm so glad he did that uh of course i've stumbled through the years never wanted to go back to sin when i was 13 to 17 and found myself out of the church mainly because my mother would make me go back on time to split but anyway um god's as faithful as me and i'm so glad that even in the midst of my stumbling sometimes you know the devils and trying to accuse you and knowing the difference sometimes but god has been helping me in my faith and and i just appreciate him i have victory in my heart amen amen um praise him praise him praise him in the morning praise him in noon time praise and praise and praise him when the sun goes down and love him and and i just unserve him and um and i thought that's what i should do in the morning and at noon in the night and you know everything have breath praise the lord if you're not if you're not where you should be and you start praising him you draw a light of god he'll draw that to you and um and and i just have lots to thank the lord and the praise of lord and i appreciate him amen amen he's been really good to me about a week ago yeah mostly you know i work with special needs kids and uh one of them is a really challenge uh his emotional disability and he is uh just doesn't come from a good background at all and he is some of the thoughts he thinks are very morbid and dark and one day he just kind of flipped out and started getting verbally aggressive and just started saying stuff that was so like demonic almost in a way that i was just with him and i just i was like i didn't know what to do so i just started praying in my head and i was like lord please help him stop and it was less than five seconds he stopped it's like he almost like went limp almost it was weird i've never experienced anything like that before i just thank god that he was there and like and the devil is real but god's even bigger than the devil and then this was what really encouraged me i have a scripture verse on my desk and it says proverbs 3 5-6 and says trust in the lord with all thine heart and link not to that understanding and you know the rest of the verse and that's very same kid he asked me he's like trust some lord he just brought this up on his own he's like how do i how do you do that like the same kid that was felt so possessed or whatever he like he was with it now and he just asked me he's like how do you it's like what do you do to do that he said i felt like a wrong god so much he's like i feel like i can't god won't take me back and i showed him i told him i was like john 3 16. it was like who's whoever believed in him and i was trying to get teary-eyed i know he's only 13. i know he's got a lot of challenges i know he has a disability but the lord was there in that time i can't explain it but i'm so overwhelmed with the lord [Music] i'm so glad that even a kid that was 13 that's 13 that has all these all these challenges that he faces and thoughts he thinks it's just like mind-boggling how could a god how can a god take care of a kid like that but he does he can he's a soul and he's bound for eternity somewhere and lord i've been praying i was like lord get a hold of him however yes there's so many more out there that know the way they come to church and yet they're almost they're doing it like they're they're making still choices that aren't i don't know i'm not making sense i guess but they're just they know the way but yet they're just as almost foolish as that kid is with us by the way they're thinking and yet they know the way and yet they're pushing god aside and it just devastates me i'm so glad that god came through in a mighty way and i love him and i want to do it amen praise the lord but that's kind of a hard thing to follow but going back to a song that was song um earlier this service the fourth verse says um on on him i lean for repose well if you look that up it means to be at rest to relax and there is another meaning but it doesn't in this context and his testimony just [Music] just gave a real life example god will god is not a god of fear god is not a god of torment god is not a god of torture he's a god of love care [Music] yes i know there's a lot of people going through different struggles if you lean into him [Music] if you lean into him his peace will just calm down a thought that came to me before i even left for church i was listening to an online radio station and a song came on and part of the chorus mentions about it's talking about worshiping god and the second half of the chorus there's a phrase that that says i'm sorry for all my all the wrong things i've done um i think him that he will for forgive um sorry i'm struggling i'm glad that it's just a relationship and that my prayer in this situation would be to just continue on with him yes anyone else this evening before we change for the campbell we're sitting at the table tonight mama craig was sitting there she said i've been praying for three different things she named the things that she was praying for and she said they're all taken care of the lord has answered every prayer she said now i'm ready to go and i just appreciate so much watching her journey watching her life i've watched her life now for many years and so appreciate her life i want my life to count for jesus that when i come down to the end of life i can say like she's done thus i've done what i need to do everything's ready and she's ready to go she wants to go i was talking to her the other night we were at the emergency room i said well they're trying to help you out here get this blood order back in order and she said why would we want to do that she'd rather go on but god knows all about it and i so appreciate him and his help his goodness to us bless his name amen every heart is clear i want to talk to us this evening to share a couple thoughts with us before we conclude the service if you'll turn in your bible to first corinthians chapter 13 first corinthians chapter 13 i'll share some thoughts while you're turning there i want to begin by saying i do not feel i want to talk to us this evening about christian love christian love christ like christian means a christ follower a disciple of christ and to have that christian love that christ-like love for our brothers and sisters for one another and i know at times when there are subjects and topics that are brought up and we're sharing uh preaching a message or sharing in a devotional it's like well brother force why is that being done you know we we all do that we're here it's a wednesday evening we're here because we love the lord we're wanting to worship him and and we love one another and we're testifying and we appreciate one another and that's great but sometimes god wants us to bring up subjects subject just to stir up our minds i think of in the book of uh ii peter in chapter three verse one peter is writing and he says this second epistle beloved i now write unto you well my wonderful technology there we go i write unto you both which i stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance and it isn't that he was saying that you're lacking in these things but sometimes as the apostle paul and peter and then throughout the uh the gospels things are written there to remind us uh if we're not careful we're living in a day and age we're living at a time where there is pressure being put on as i don't ever remember now i was talking to someone here not long ago and i said i don't maybe it's because i'm getting older and now i'm seeing things different than i did when i was a child a young person and a young adult maybe i'm i'm seeing it more alert to it i don't know but honestly i believe and i feel like we're living at a time where the enemy is attacking the people of god in a greater way than what i've what i've ever witnessed in my life uh and there's fear um i don't want to get into a debate here or this bringing up things and get people worked up but there's fear over this covet that has been going around and am i saying not to be cautious and careful and use good common sense that's not what i'm saying at all in any way shape or form i had it i was in the hospital a total of 14 days in there with that there was a couple of times i didn't know if i was gonna make it so it's a real thing but so is the flu so is a heart attack so is a stroke so is cancer you say well those are not pandemics well i i understand what you're saying but there's a lot of people dying from heart disease but we allow the media we allow the world to push this agenda this fear agenda in even where it's even coming into our lives into the church and i told my wife here i said uh there are some that are as a wonderful sister to attend church here made a comment to me one day and she said brother foresee that kind of individual i call him a pot stir i said a pot stir what is a pot stir she says one who's going around comes he's trying to stir things up they're a potster and we're living at a time where there are those even in the church not this i'm talking about the church that are in the holiness movement that i would call poster he said we're we're not here we're not conspiracy theorists we're not here to call us a debate then why post the thing that you're posting on social media if you're not wanting a debate why are you putting out there the thing that you're putting out there knowing that what you posted is going to get people worked up i told my wife i said i honestly look at the verse of scripture sowing discord amongst the brethren in a different light than what i did before because we're living at a day and age where there is through social media a lot of things being done and if we're not careful what is it doing it's sowing discord because you know you have your opinion and you're so strong in your opinion that no one's going to change you and that person over there has the exact opposite opinion as just as strong as you are and what habits there's a clashing of the minds anyways so i simply want to remind us here this evening as we look at the verse of scripture about christian love what christian love is i thank god that what i'm referencing this evening have i have not witnessed or am i aware of anyone of this congregation doing it so that's why i shared what peter wrote he says i'm sharing this giving you this remembrance to stir up your remembers to remind you of some things and we're living in a time when there's so much pressure so much bombardment of things that we can lose our focus at times does it mean we've lost our faith that we've backslidden no but if we're not careful we can get off track i was thinking as brother trent was testifying he made the statement some along the line that he wants to be used of god to touch people's lives stop and think for a moment we all have a job we go to myself included in the past of the church and i get prayer requests and if i'm not careful i can get the place so it's another prayer request okay being honest with you and if you'd be honest how many of you would have the same thought come to you from time to time but we all have a job we all have a career we're involved in something and we can get so used to it going through the habits of it that what happens we begin to become numb to it in the medical field one of the things that my wife and i took care of people in the medical field we had that assisted living home and we saw death i'll never forget the first when we were when i first went up there and we were involved in taking care of people and and some individuals passed away i was devastated but it got to a point where i was like well that's another person that passed away and i didn't like that does it mean that i didn't care about them and didn't provide care for them absolutely not we did our best to take care of them but even in the medical field if we're not careful we're so it's so overwhelming at times that we can begin to become numb and then now applying that to our spiritual life we're going through life on a daily basis with all of the bombardment of the things happening in our society in our world in our nation and it's being pushed upon us and pushed upon us and pushed upon us honestly the pandemic thing you couldn't go to a new site you couldn't turn on a news station without hearing about the mask and the vaccines and the covid and all of that kind of stuff and then lo and behold this gabby and uh her boy fiance what has it been now headline news for the last week and a half or whatever it's been right there front page first story bombard bombard bombard bombard well when it first happened i was sad i told my wife i said i think that he probably her life has already probably been taken and i was sad i hoped it wasn't the case but in a different sense i was glad that there was kind of another story because i was sick and tired of hearing about the pandemic i know you're probably saying we just hope you understand what i'm saying there i'm never glad about hearing of a death ever the point that i'm trying to get across to us is we can become numb and we can begin to lose our focus of what life is all about we can get so involved as brother trent was sharing and teaching and handling those children he works the special needs and it's there it's constant constant pressure and that we get so involved that we begin to become numb and begin to lose focus about what it's really all about what is life really all about it's about loving that person and pointing them to christ and that applies to every one of us we can come home from our job where he's exhausted we're tired we're wore out we don't want company we don't want to do anything we come in and the neighbors are crossing hey how you doing i'm good i'm going in there and the neighbor's hoping that you'll just stop for a moment because he's got a load on him that he wants to tell someone about but yet here we've been pressed with our load so much that we missed the opportunity of what life is really all about do we have homes do we have to purchase and make payments on yes do we have to pay car payments electric payments uh utility payments uh insurance food yes yes yes yes but what is the most important thing it's our relationship with christ and its winning souls for the kingdom of god and peter tells him there he says beloved he's talking to the believers he's i'm sharing this to stir up your remembrance and so this evening as we look at the some thoughts here i just want to read these read this here quickly uh go down shares a couple of thoughts here quickly as i wanted to stir up our mind as to what christian love is about first corinthians 13 verse 1 says do i speak with the tongues of men and of angels and i have not charity or have not love i am become a sounding brass or a tinkling symbol i'm just a noisemaker i've there's no value there's no purpose there's no results there's there's nothing to benefit it's just a emptiness a hollow a ringing a noise empty noise he says and though i have gift of the gift of prophecy and i understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though i have all faith so i can remove mountains and have not love i am nothing and though i bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though i give my body to be burned and i have not charity have not love it profiteth me nothing without the love of god in our hearts and being revealed friends we are doing absolutely nothing what the the song the apostle is writing says in verse 4 love suffereth long and is kind charity your love envieth not charity vaulteth not itself is not puffed up it doesn't take and look and say oh look at me look at the things that i've accomplished you know who i am i'll have you know they should have given me extra praise that's not what love of christ in our hearts is about we don't do the things we do as christians to receive the praise of men we do it because we love god we love christ and we love our fellow man we do it to show god's love verse 5 doth not behave itself unseemly seeketh not our own is not easily provoked thinketh no evil rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth beareth all things believeth all things hopeth all things endureth all things charity or love never faileth whether there be prophecies they shall fail whether there be tongues they shall cease and whether there be knowledge it shall vanish away i stopped the reading there of that chapter to remind us what is christian love we just read it and is that love in us is that the kind of love we're showing to those and i understand and i and i believe you me i promise i fully fully understand when you say brother first you don't know what it's like living with them you don't know what it's like working with them you don't know what it's like having them as a neighbor you don't know what it's like having that person as a boss i've been there i've done it i remember having a boss that would tell you to do something and so you would go and do it but you didn't pick it up fast enough or you didn't pick it up with the bit knees right or something and it would light into you and cuss you and swear and scream at you until spit was coming out of his mouth he could have been a preacher right you know spitflying i've been there i know what it's like i know what it's like to take care of an individual and they do nothing but cuss you out slap you smack you kick you punch you call you terrible names i've been there but can i say this god can give us a love in our hearts in the midst of that for that individual that we can show what real genuine christ-likeness is knowing him what is it like to experience deliverance from sin and truly be a child of the god a child of god they may claim it they may profess it but you know and i know and other people know they don't have what they profess and so what do we do how do we respond how do we act back do we show the love of god you know if you go and you read matthew chapter six and seven you're going to see this sermon on the mount where jesus talks about how we're to treat others when we're treated they ask you to go with them a mile he says go to they want your coat he says give him your coat and your cloak as well he said when they smite you on the one cheek turn to them the other cheek you see we're americans we have our rights people don't treat a certain way this is my right i'm an american i'm a citizen i'm a human being didn't you think jesus knew that i think he did and i think that's one of the reasons why he said not just to the children israel but he knew in 2021 in the united states of america we would be facing things that we're facing and he said this is how you're to live this is how you're to love and he's saying i can pour my love into you so much so that no matter what you're facing in life and what you're going through you can show the love of god to that individual john 13 34 says a new commandment i give unto you that you love one another as i have loved you that ye also love one another by this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another one to another how are people going to know that we're a disciple of christ by the way that we love one another not by the way we call strife and bickering and stirring up things being a pot stir so to speak as that one sister said but instead turning the other cheek going the extra mile giving the cloak and the coat showing the love he says this is the commandment i give unto you that you love on earth i have loved you how did christ love us he served us i know every time i talk about this it makes a whole bunch of people go into panic mode almost not not really i'm kidding but i want to talk about feet washing matter of fact someone recommended it out there on the patio that we had poured put in a basin right there we have feet washing hey who knows anyways christ served us he served the disciples god who came to this earth lowered himself and became man dwelt among us and he kneeled and he washed the disciples feet how did he love he served are we serving or do we have an attitude or a mindset that i'm i'm too good to do that i'm too important to do that what is what is our feeling in our attitude when we see someone in need or we see something needs to be done well it's their job they'll take care of it eventually well is that the right kind of spirit chapter 15 of john said this is my commandment that you love one on ours i have loved you greater love have no man than this and a man laid down his life for his friends he laid his life down for us verse 17 says these things i command you that you love one another first thessalonians 4 9 but as touching brother love you need not that i write unto you for you yourselves are taught of god to love one another is the apostle paul writing to the thessalonians how by the example by his example by christ's example he's paul saying you've been taught yourselves you know i don't need it god god has taught you're taught of god to love one another if we go to mark 15 29 it says and they passed by and and they that pass by railed on him wagging their heads and saying ah thou hast destroyed the temple and built us it in three days talking about christ hanging there on the cross and when they went by they railed on him they mocked him they made fun of him and what did jesus do when he was hanging on the cross father bring fire upon their heads no he didn't do his elijah when he says if i'm if i'm a prophet if i'm a man of god see fire fall from heaven and consume you like it did in the old testament that in the captain in the 50. it wasn't that what how did christ respond he didn't say lord and wipe out this the jewish people why about these romans instead what did christ do it was he was hanging on the cross after he had been beaten after his beard ripped his hair had been pulled spit upon made fun of and a whip had been whipped on a crown of thorns and and nails driven through his hands and his feet and hung and he's hanging there naked on that cross and everyone walking by laughing and mocking and making fun of the son of god you're the son of the god you're the king of the jews you're going to do this and you can't even save yourself from a cross and they were making fun how did jesus respond his response was this father forgive them how do we respond when things are not going our way or things are being done to us and it hurts i'm not denying it it hurts you're you're grieved i'm going to tell you it didn't feel good to go and help an individual and shower them and get them dressed and soon as you're putting on their last shoe whack and get punched in the face what did i feel like doing if i felt in the human in the cardinal i would want to take all the clothes off put the dirt back on and say now take care of yourself but i didn't that's in the flesh that's in the carnal but instead it's what you go ahead and you continue to show love and kindness i know it hurts it doesn't feel good you don't feel appreciated you don't feel valued your boss gives you no praise it gives you no recognition you go and you work extra hours you do the extra thing and the other person lopes around the corner all day long and then they become the employee of the month i understand that those those kind of things can hurt but what is christ telling us to do we're to love them we're to show his love we are to follow christ's example first first peter 3 8 9. finally be you all of one mind and compassion one of another love as brethren be pitiful be courteous not rendering evil for evil but as christ did as i just shared father forgive them so must we have that spirit that attitude or railing for really but contrary-wise knowing that ye are there unto call that ye should inherit a blessing you want to have a blessing you want to heap coals of fire in someone's head see they've been mean to me i want to put coals of fire in the head show them love show them kindness show them compassion be long suffering let them see what god has delivered you from you know there was a there was a thing i was wanting to share this evening that i came across on facebook and i think it was brother spivey from virginia shared it he said it and i i i only have my phone it the gist of it is you can go look it up david spivey and that's who it is uh on his facebook page but it has to do with people being afraid or being suspicious or something along that line is a lot of time it's because of what is in them how they are and can i tell you when you have the love of god radiating from you to that person who professes and doesn't have it it's going to convict them oh no it hasn't you haven't been in my shoes hold on you don't know what's happening when you're not around it's convicting we're to love one another not to show rarely for really we are are to love and more than in just word but indeed there's to be a real fervent love first peter 1 22 seeing ye have purified your souls and obeying the truth through the spirit unto unframed love of the brethren see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently earnestly intently and then again in colossians 3 12-13 put on therefore as elect of god holy and beloved bows of mercy kindness humbleness of mind meekness long-suffering forbearing one another forgiving one another if any man have a quarrel against any even as christ forgave you so also do ye and then in galatians 6 2 paul says bear you one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of christ i share this to stir up our minds i i know we all hear this evening i have a testimony of victory of loving god and serving god we want to go to heaven but sometimes in the midst of life in the midst of the pressure in the midst of everything that we're being bombarded by from the world sometimes we can begin to get caught up in some things that we shouldn't be caught up in my feeling is this the cove thing is real and so is the flu so is a heart attack you want a vaccine you want to mask help yourself i'm not going to condemn you either way whatever your choice is but so many out there are using it to stir and keep things going and what we need to do is we instead of doing that we need to be showing the word church what more of a golden opportunity in time that we have right now to show the love of god the peace of god the joy of god in our hearts that in the midst of all of this that we can be able to let other people know yes this may be happening but our god is still on the throne our god is still hearing and answering prayer our god is still raising people up and that this is an opportunity for us to share the gospel not to share fear-mongering and be part of that but instead to share the love and the gospel message that jesus christ is coming back hallelujah one of these days i was talking to sister crick the other day i said you know one of these days he's coming back for all of us and i'm looking forward to that day i can't wait i say lord jesus with john the reverend even so come now lord jesus may it be so but i know at the same time there are those saying lord just tear just for a little bit because i have a loved one that doesn't know you then that's why we need instead of being involved in things that cause us to lose focus instead remember what life's about pray fast intercede for that loved one that they'll make it to heaven that they'll see their need of jesus christ that we'll go the extra mile showing his love going the extra mile doesn't mean compromise it doesn't mean watering down our convictions don't mistake what i'm saying here this evening we still stand true to what we believe in god's word but we do what christ told us to do because without the love of god in our heart without the christ like love i'm a tinkling symbol and a sounding gong empty hollow vein nothing that's ringing true whatsoever may the lord help us so i want to encourage you i have no idea what the rest of your day may faith what you may face nor you're weak but i want to encourage you keep your eyes on the prize keep your eyes toward christ and show the love of god to those you come in contact with amen every heart clear if you're able let's
