minds are clear most gracious and wise god we come before you this morning celebrating you because you are worthy to be praised from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same our god is worthy to be praised so we lift you up this morning we pray for your guidance and your mercy over this service lord heavenly father we pray that you will be in the musician's hands we pray that you will be in the singer's hands we pray lord heavenly father that you will be in whoever is orchestrating this service be in their hands this morning god be in the hearts of your people this morning god we pray that you would just also touch the man of god this morning as he comes and perfects with the thus say of the lord lord heavenly father so we come lord heavenly father with a heart of thanksgiving with a steadfastness in our spirit lord heavenly father knowing that you have sent us a manservant this morning that will speak to our conditions oh god that will speak to our infirmities oh god that will speak to whatever circumstances we may be going through oh father lifting your name up lord heavenly father because you are a god that is able to keep us when we should have been gone so god as we praise you as we lift you up on this side of the earth god we're ever so mindful to give you all of the glory to give you all of the praise to give you all of the everlasting endurance that is within our bodies oh god because you are worthy of it even when we don't feel like it you are worthy even when we don't believe you are worthy even when we have hard times you are worthy even lord god when we are going through our testing our trials we can stand confidently and praise you because you are worthy of the praise so be with us today oh god let us know that you are near let us know that you are close move your weight around in this place o glory today god uh lord heavenly father and we'll be ever so mindful when it's all said and done when the lights are off when we go home don't tell you that you deserve it just because of who you are we tell you that you deserve it because of what you've done for us during the details of our lives here are the details about our lives to get out here it sounds so good in here the presence of the lord is here the presence of the lord is here i can feel him in the atmosphere the presence of the lord is here can i do it one more time the presence of the lord is here [Music] the presence of the lord is right here i can feel him in the atmosphere the presence of the lord is here anybody believe that go ahead and clap your hands for the presence of the lord is here those of you in the sanctuary just waving somebody and tell them i feel him in the atmosphere hallelujah hallelujah it's good to be in the presence of [Music] the lord you may be seated in his presence and we certainly want to give a good hand clap to our viewing audience those who are streaming us come on let's clap your hands for them and certainly i celebrate all of you who are here with us live and in person on this lord's day feel like clapping your hands one more time amen i want to speak from the theme this morning don't leave the presence of the lord don't leave the presence of god the presence of god the presence of the lord is where three things happen the purpose of the lord is revealed everybody say purpose revealed the power of the lord is released everybody say power released and the pursuit of the lord is renewed everybody say pursuit renewed now now a lot of times we we throw out big words and the average congregation member does not always identify with the magnitude of the word for instance god is omnipresent you've heard that before god is almighty present which simply means god is everywhere at the same time the same way god is in washington dc god is in new york he is everywhere at the same time who wouldn't serve a god like that then secondly there is the word omniscience which means god knows everything [Music] about everybody god knows everything he is omniscient like the beginning and the end and everything in between god knows it like he knows the end as well as the beginning and the beginning as well as the end his knowledge cannot be compared with anybody else god is omniscient and then the third one god is omnipotent which means god has all power all power and therefore god is sovereign and god is not answerable to anyone or anything however the presence or the glory sometimes referred to as shekinah glory nothing can be compared to his glory and he will not give his glory to anybody else god promises yes never to leave us never to forsake us but the threat is we often are tempted to or do forsake or leave him he doesn't go anywhere but we often go here there and yonder we can leave his presence and in doing so be doomed eternally no he never left you where would you be for one moment if he ever left you he stays with you but we have the temptation every now and then to tiptoe away from his presence don't let or allow pandemic this covet 19 and its several demonic variants cause you to leave the presence of the lord god does not deal with some of your personal issues as you think he ought to deal with them but god don't go nowhere i love that old song and i wish we'd bring every now and then some of them back god's not dead he's yet alive and the old folks added in there i can feel him in my hands you ever felt him in your hands oh that's why some of y'all don't clap i can feel them in my hands what's that next part did i feel them in my feet and somebody real sanctified would say and i feel him all over me anybody in this room ever felt him all over you that's why sometimes you have to shake rattle and roll because you cannot contain the presence of god that's in you i know i'm talking right right now don't leave the presence of god now god's presence comes with certain qualifications as the high priest could only enter what we call the holy of holies come on cbs i soon said the the the high priest could only enter the holy of holies and had to be deemed worthy we must prepare ourselves for the presence of god when we practice god's presence we operate in his purpose we we tap into his power and we live in a daily pursuit of him his presence is what our souls long for as the scripture says the deer panteth pants gasp for some water so our soul pants for the presence of the lord several examples can be made from figures in the bible who left or almost left the presence of the lord genesis 4 and 16 and cain went out from the presence of the lord and dwelt in the land of nod on the east of eden y'all know about kane don't you cain was the first son of adam and eve cain had a whole future in front of him but because the lord did not accept cain's gift because it was jacked up and god does not take mess so god favored the younger son of adam and eve named abel because his gift was a perfect sacrifice and god said um uh cain i can't accept that i can't deal with that because there's evil attached to that now i i don't know i i don't have time to debate with anybody when in the first days of their their birth evil was detected somewhere in cain but i do know god was not pleased and anything that god is not pleased with you do something to hinder his presence in your life i don't care how you try to fake it to make it if god is not pleased you need to get it right you know i've said for years calvary god don't bless mess if you want god to bless the mess you've got to clean it up get right make it slain make it whole in order for god to bless it so god could not bless [Music] cain's sacrifice and cain the son of adam and eve ended up killing his brother murdering his brother and had a nerve to try to insult god when god said cain where's your brother and came with an attitude as if god didn't already know his brother where his brother was cain had an attitude and said hmm i don't know am i my brother's keeper and the bible says that cain went out from the presence of the lord he left the presence of the lord and dwelt in the land of nod on the east of eden suggesting that it was not even near the presence of the lord he was jealous of his brother killed his brother is the first murderer on earth and he left the presence of the lord and he never came back as a matter of fact in first john chapter 3 and verse 12 the bible said cain's reputation was destroyed because of the wicked one who murdered his brother abel because his works were evil and his brothers were righteous jealousy is a deadly sin do you know there are some people that don't like you just because of what you wear just because you got some extra hair [Applause] jealousy is a terrible thing and it starts as i don't like her i don't like him and it's so dangerous when their people plant it in your life just to get you to turn against somebody you don't know nothing about there are people who don't speak to each other right now because somebody told them something about somebody else and they have no proof of it they just believe what somebody says just does is it about um go basically help me does the bible say um what is that about a bone you bring a bone you have a bone whatever bone is something about money be careful who brings you news because there's a whole lot of people that are jealous of your success that's why you can't ask everybody to pray for you because some people will pray on you and not for you and they ask you what's wrong baby let me pray for you they just want to get in your business to make sure that whatever you're going through is worse than what they're going through help me up and hear god because i'm not near finish yet so my point is cain fled from ran from the presence of the lord and he was never useful again he sinned and went out from the presence of god cain said i'm going to leave the presence of the lord can i give you one more y'all remember jonah don't you let's skip from from cain to jonah this is jonah chapter 1 verse 3. this is the big fish story jesus called in in the new testament he was swallowed by a whale here it is but jonah rose up to flee unto tasha's from the presence of the lord jonah rose up to flee unto tortious someplace that god had not told him to go from the presence of the lord jonah disobeyed god and ended up in the fish because of his disobedience god is heavy on obedience what did i just say believe me god you give all the money you want be as faithful as you want but if you are not obedient to god he's heavy on condemning that disobedient spirit that's why we're messed up now because adam and eve disobeyed god and we are suffering the consequences because god don't play around with disobedient children help me god trust and obey that's god's thing trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in jesus but to trust and obey unlike cain unlike cain came jonah repented isn't that the wonderful thing about serving god oh clap your hands if you know you can get right with god yes thank you lord for making a way for us to get right with you oh that's enough to thank him for thank you lord because none of us in here perfect all of us have messed up but thank god we can go to him anybody ever experience his forgiveness clap your hands if you know about his forgiveness and some of you had to be forgiven since you've been saved that's another sermon for another day jonah disobeyed god and ended up in the fish god's heavy on that but unlike cain jonah repented and ended up with another chance thank you lord for another chance jonah got another chance to do what god wanted him to do in the first place and god restored him unlike cain who fled the presence of god jonah was restored you mind clapping for restoration and here's my last one you know i got too much time left to be my last one i want to bring up my favorite let's call him dave the bible calls him david psalm 139 and verse 7 psalm 139 and verse 7. whether shall i go from your spirit or where shall i flee from your presence he thought about it because he was in such a sinful state at this time he wanted to escape and he thought his way out was fleeing from god's presence oh i feel like preaching this thing how many times have you thought about not you but some people how have you been so pressured especially in this pandemic when you don't know what's going to happen from one day to the other how many of you have thought about fleeing to the alcoholic drink freeing from just a little just a little puff puff just a little sniff sniff oh you know the devil talking to you you know the devil is talking against god to you doing this pandemic and you don't have enough power to flesh him out of your mind out of your system and you started to where david said but where you are everywhere where shall i flee from your spirit where shall i run from your presence i'm tempted right now to go back to my old self i'm tempted right now to go back to what used to make me feel good but where shall i go from your presence look at dave again in psalm 51 and verse 11. look at dave in psalm 51 and verse 11. he doesn't sound like cain he doesn't sound like jonah but he says cast me not away from your presence and take not your holy spirit from me oh that's a prayer that i pray that's a prayer that will work don't cast me away from your presence with my stinking thinking with my forgetting about the lion and the bear and goliath i forgot about that because there's so much pressure on me right now because i have sinned i have committed adultery and murder but he prays i don't want to flee so i'm asking you don't cast me away from your presence don't take your holy spirit from me and you know how it is i'm not the only one that get to thinking foolish every now and then thinking you missed out on something and there are people that are living in sin worse than yours you start comparing and they've been dotting every eye and crossing every t and you've been doubling what they have been doing and that demon called that deadly sin called temptation is drawing you oh don't y'all sit up and look so sanctified and don't know what i'm talking about it's drawing you and and wooing you and you start having these dreams again and wonder where did that come from it came from the devil [Applause] he knows that this little dilemma that you're going through and very convenient to blame on the pandemic he taunts you look at dave again in psalm 16 and 11. oh the man is praying look at him in psalm 16 and 11 and he says you will show me the path of life that's all i want you to do is show me your purpose for me show me what your divine will is for me show me the path of life in your presence is fullness of joy oh my god that's the only thing that promises you fullness of joy joy that never ends whatever else you find pleasure and fun and think is joy come on admit it don't last you keep having to get more and more and more and more to keep you pumped up but there is a joy that the world does not give and the world cannot take it's called jesus joy on jesus juice and all you have to do is keep praying and thinking and thinking and praying and his joy is full and complete clap your hands and don't make me preach so hard you will show me the path for life in your presence this fullness of joy at the right hand their pleasures forevermore somebody shout don't leave the presence of god you see cain went out from the presence of god but david didn't cain was never useful again but david was even more useful than he had ever been before cain went from the presence of the lord while david said cast me not away from your presence now my brothers and sisters i love you so much i love you but the enemy wants you to leave the presence of god the enemy for obvious reasons does not want you where god is but you got to keep telling yourself i want to be where god is i'm one of one of the greatest preachers i ever heard who is one of my dearest spiritual sons bishop claude alexander whenever he gets up to preach he would always pray before he preached and he said lord show me where you are and let me meet you there i want to be where where you are as i stand in this pulpit i want to be where you are somebody shall tell him i want to be where you are god i don't want to be any place where god is not i want to be where you are all of us all of us have highs and lows may i be real do you think for a moment i want to be up here preaching every sunday you don't know the pastor runs out like you do do you know we have this treasure in an earthling vessel and just like sometimes you don't feel like it and we got a whole bunch of viewers watching now that have become complacent and content to watch us like we're performing on a stage all of us have our eyes and our loads don't say you feel the same every day cause life will trick you so you say lord how did i lay down feeling good last night and wake up anybody ever i'm not talking about sin now i'm talking about anybody else went to bed last night sent your prayers felt good and just woke up with a yucky feeling just yucky [Applause] tell your neighbor it's a part of life we have our highs and we have our lows it's a part of our heritage as christians we do not live on the mountaintop all the time the men of god in the bible knew that life was not on a level plateau moses had mountains and valleys he had his time of depression and frustration he received the ten commandments on the tablet from god all ten of them and when he came out of the mountain and saw that his brother aaron had erected a false god that the people were rejoicing over that same moses who was given the tablets the ten commandments broke the tablets he got anybody ever had anybody no i'm gonna ask you that but he he he broke the tablets and and disobeyed god because of that human nature jeremiah paul look at him they had highs and lows we have all had mountains and valleys paul lawrence dunbar when he was asked what is life he said life is a little joy a little strife some happiness and that's life and if you look at it we have our weaknesses and we have our strengths some people never come back from the lows they never rebound from the lows some get low and backslide and never come back others do the same thing that that person who bexley did and never came back some of us do the same things and bounce back don't make me think i'm preaching to myself anybody ever bounce back god help you to can you thank god for a bounce back when they thought you when they wrote you off anybody ever had anybody to write you off and all of a sudden because you prayed god had you to rebound let's celebrate rebounders in here let's celebrate the fact that he brought me back he brought me back he brought me back [Applause] what is the difference some people get upset with god and they stay upset with him some folk get upset with the church not the church with people in the church and they stay upset others bounce back they come back completely happy because it's the devil's i'm not boring y'all am i it's the devil's plan and the devil's plot to keep you frustrated and disturbed in your mind because if the devil i'ma say it anyway if the devil captures your mind he's got the rest of you because the rest of you functions with what your mind tells the rest of you to do clap your hands for a right mind clap your hands for right mind wait a minute clap your hands that you ain't crazy come on come on come on give me 15 minutes and i'll try to be finished notice i said try i've seen members who have not been back to church some of them have not been vaccinated and i think that's very ignorant and since you read the newspaper and watch the news you're addicted to the news more than the bible what your bible said these things are going to be all this segregation and racism and the love of many back wax and coal that's in the bible wars and rumors of wars don't you hear about it every day testaments is like the pandemic some of us believe in it will believe in the people who have studied this stuff and have told you that the cases now of people dying are those who have not been vaccinated oh i know it's about half of y'all that haven't been vaccinated i already said it and i don't care that's the mentality of the people who are not democratic it's all a political thing i'm not taking it back i said it's a political thing and you're risking your own health and the health of people you come in contact with go tomorrow and get vaccinated [Applause] with your fake mass wearing self yeah i said you're fake let me get back to my notes all of us have spiritual times of coldness we do not stay at a high place all the time that's why the praise this morning was so lifted we do not stay at the same place all the time but some of us recover from the lows and some of us don't all sin all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of god and this pandemic covet 19 is designed and orchestrated by the enemy to make us lose faith in what god's word has already said in times of discontentment some of us get better and some of us get bitter cane sinned and went out from the presence of god david likewise sinned but said don't cast me away from your presence am i making sense cain said i'm i i'm going to leave the presence of god david said i'm going to stay in the presence of god what is as i close what is the presence of god the presence of god hear me well the presence of god is not being right with god that that's sinking the presence of god is not being right with god i can be in the presence of my wife go pastor and not be right with her i can be her in her presence and we may have had a healthy disagreement [Applause] don't don't miss my point i can be in her presence and we have a disagreement i can be in her presence and our relationship can be strained don't y'all look at me as if you don't know what i'm talking about you can be in god's presence and not be in fellowship with god being in his presence does not necessarily mean that you are a good christian it does not necessarily mean that you're right with god it just means that you're hanging around god you know when i wrote this when the lord gave me that the right i got happy myself there's a difference in being in the presence of god and just hanging around god some of y'all are so blessed because you're hanging around god you know you ain't right with god you know you're not you come in here on sunday because his presence is in the atmosphere some of you come in with a hangover and i won't say the other things you come in with but being in his presence does not mean you're right with him let me finish my notes it just means that you're hanging around him it means that you are in his presence where it's easier to get right with him being in his presence being in the atmosphere makes it easier to get right with him david was not right when he said take not away your presence oh god he wasn't right he had messed up big time but david had enough sense to know that the best thing to do if you sin is to stay around the presence of god david was not saying i'm getting right with god yet there there was a series of things he had to do and go through brokenness and trials and repentance he said i am not going to leave the presence of god whether you bounce back or not is largely determined by whether or not you stay in the presence of god for in his presence is fullness of joy i've run into some people who belong you know this is this is great in mount calvary holy church it means that we have set standards and principles that we will not defer from we we we have a mindset that holiness is right we have a mindset that is right to live right and um there are some people that i've run into a couple of times in the past who belong to the holiness church of the holy church because of what they feel in the presence this is the truth they don't want to get right yet they join because they believe these principles are right because holiness started with touching our taste not handled not the unclean thing so they felt years ago this is in 1800s in the beginning of the holiness movement they felt that smoking cigarettes was not right it produced bad breath yellow teeth so they said we can't touch that so they condemned those who smoked anything they thought was a sin they condemned because they felt it was wrong that was that was the beginning of the standards of holiness don't touch that is not right don't taste that it's not right don't handle that it's not right and it produced a standard because in other churches the retina would come out to greet the members with his cigar in his pocket what did they do bite off a piece and light it right in front of the members but but but the holiness people who came out of the methodist church said that ain't right that's nasty so they they set a standard i said that to say there's some people in here and viewing us who are faithful livers and givers in certain areas refuse to embrace the standard holiness has standards that you dare not cross over because it displeases god and we try to do everything we can to make god happy and you can only pay back to god what he's given to you by living right clap your hands for holiness that's a little holiness doctrine right there i closed cain left the presence of god and there is no joy available to him there is no joy outside of the presence of the lord fun okay pleasure okay but the water that orders that waters the grass on my side of the fence and your side of the fence always looks greener on the other side how do i close better or you can become bitter god has designed that you become better but the enemy plots and plants and plants and plots so you would never make lemonade out of those lemons the devil has decided
