to seek your protection against the kovid 19 that has disturbed and claimed many lines we ask you now to look upon us with love and by your healing hand dispel the fear of sickness and death restore our hope and strengthen our faith we pray that you guide the people past to find cures for this disease and to stem its transmission we thank you for the vaccines developed made possible by your guiding hands bless our efforts to use these vaccines to end the pandemic in our country we pray for our health workers that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion grant them held in mind and body strength in their commitment protection from the disease we pray for those afflicted may they be restored to hell protect those who care for them grant eternal rest to those who have died give us the grace in these trying times to work for the good of all and to help those in need may our concern and compassion for each other see us through this crisis and lead us to conversion and holiness grant all these through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen we fly to your protection o holy spirit amen the lord be with you and with your spirit my dear brothers and sisters jesus our good shepherd gathers us tonight to celebrate this eucharist so that he may nourish us with his word and he may feed us with his own body and blood so that we may become less unworthy to receive jesus let us now call to mind our many sins and entrust ourselves to god's merciful love i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our them but i will take care to punish your evil deeds i myself will gather the remnant of my flock from all the lands to which i have driven them and bring them back to their meadow there they shall increase and multiply i will appoint shepherds for them who will shepherd them so that they need no longer fear and tremble and none shall be missing says the lord behold the days are coming says the he guides me in the right path for his name's sake even though i walk in the dark valley i fear no evil for you are at my side with your rod and your staff that give me courage the lord is my shepherd paul to the ephesians brothers and sisters in christ jesus you who once were far off have become near by the blood of christ for he is our peace he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity through his flesh abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims that he might create in himself one new person in place of the two thus establishing peace and might reconcile both with god in one body through the cross putting that enmity to death by it he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near for through him we both have access in one spirit to the father the word of the lord thanks be to god please stand [Music] [Music] my sheep hear my voice says the lord i know them and they follow me [Music] [Applause] the lord be with you and with your spirit a reading from the holy gospel according to mark glory to you oh lord the apostles gathered together with jesus and reported all they had done and thought he said to them come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while people were coming and going in great numbers and they had no opportunity even to eat so they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place people saw them living and many came to know about it they hastened their own food from all the towns and arrived at the place before them when he disembarked and saw the vast crowd his heart was moved with pity for them for they were like sheep without a shepherd and he began to teach them many things the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ please visited my dear brothers and sisters if there is one thing that our readings this sunday teach us it is the importance of sensitivity [Music] when we talk of sensitivity or being sensitive there are usually two senses by which we understand this word when we say that a person is sensitive [Music] we usually mean that the person is onion skinned that the person easily gets easily gets offended by almost everything oxide being this is not the kind of sensitivity being asked of us by our readings this sunday it is a more positive kind of sensitivity it is the sensitivity that is the capacity to pick up on the feelings of others it is the sensitivity that is the capacity to feel what others are feeling it is the capacity to empathize with others if you still remember our gospel last sunday it was about jesus sending his apostles to mission he sent his apostles to preach the good news to heal those who are sick and to drive out demons from those possessed by them and in our gospel today the apostles returned to jesus christ and here we could see how sensitive jesus is jesus must have felt that his apostles are tired and hungry and so he told them come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while foreign jesus could have said you know there are still many more villages that you have to go to [Music] many people are still waiting for you for your preaching and for your healing [Music] but jesus is a very sensitive lord a good shepherd who feels what his apostles need at my dear brothers and sisters are we sensitive to other people's need for rest and we also acknowledge our own need for rest we all need to rest relax [Music] we all need time to rest even we priests need some time to rest [Music] we all need time to rest there are people who think that resting is a sin there are people who feel guilty when they are doing nothing but my dear brothers and sisters resting is necessary for us to be more effective because the truth is we cannot be 100 efficient 24 7 we also need time to rest to recharge so that we may do our responsibilities and tasks better you know my dear brothers and sisters when we encounter technical problems with our internet connection we usually call the hotline of our internet providers [Music] and almost often when we do that the internet will restart and will work again means muli that is also true to our lives we will be more efficient if we spend some time to rest do not expect people to be efficient if you do not give them time to rest resting is also a sign of humility resting is a sign that we cannot do everything at all times resting tells us that we are not robots that we are not machines that we are people who get tired and exhausted and that we need time to rest people who do not rest are arrogant people people who do not rest and do not give other people chance to rest are proud but my dear brothers and sisters even god needed time to rest god rested after the work of creation and if the world did not collapse when god rested it will not collapse your world will not collapse if you do so let us be sensitive to each other's need for rest but there is another important aspect of sensitivity that jesus shows us in our gospel today when jesus and his disciples arrived at the place where they intended to rest lo and behold the people are already there young is foreign but we hear nothing of those from jesus jesus the good shepherd felt the need of the people and so instead of irritation jesus felt compassion for they were like sheep without a shepherd my dear brothers and sisters being sensitive is also our capacity to let go of what we want and even what we need in order to respond to other people's needs insensitive is that is sensitivity health care workers who also need rest who also need to protect themselves from sickness but who would for but but would forego their own needs in order to serve others that is sensitivity my dear brothers and sisters be insensitive entails some form of sacrifices my dear brothers and sisters today jesus invites us to be sensitive hindi young sadly we live in a society teaches us to be insensitive [Music] is are we sensitive our first reading today tells us that god abhors insensitivity god is so angry with the shepherds of the people of israel because instead of caring for the flock they care for their own selves god invites us to be sensitive because that is what jesus did saint paul in our second reading today tells us how those who are far off became near because of jesus jesus came close so that he may feel us i can feel you because i am one of you let us be sensitive to one another let us be sensitive to each other's need for rest let us be sensitive to each other's needs but it should not end in sensitivity sensitivity must be translated sensitivity becomes action that is compassion that is love this time let us all together profess our faith i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there you will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting amen the heart of christ goes out to his flock on earth in the name of that good shepherd let us ask the father to fulfill our special needs for every petition let us say lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer for all the pastors of the church that they may never let the flock of christ be scattered but gather it together in his name let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for those entrusted with passing on the doctrine of the church that they may nourish us with truth and wisdom let us pray to the lord hear our prayer for the teachers of our children that they may impart knowledge and truth with conviction and responsibility let us pray to the lord lord lord hear our prayer for those at this time who are on retreat that they may come away and rest for a while in the silent peace of christ let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for the souls of the faithful departed that the blood of christ may win them eternal peace let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer we pray in silence for our personal petitions we also pray for the people who requested our prayers and for the intentions offered in this mass father of the flock hear the prayers of your people gathered at the banquet you have prepared and ready to offer the acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good in the good of all his holy church o god who in the one perfect sacrifice brought completion varied offerings of the law accept we pray this sacrifice from your faithful servants and make it holy as you bless the gifts of abel so that what each has offered to the honor of your majesty may benefit the salvation of all through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our jute and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you so loved the world that in your mercy you sent us the redeemer to live like us in all things but sin so that you might love in us what you loved in your son by whose obedience we have been restored to those gifts of yours that by sinning we had lost in disobedience and so lord with all the angels and saints we too give you thanks as in exaltation we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest please nil you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Music] in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from me for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for benny for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of you stand the mystery of faith we proclaim your death o lord and profess your resurrection until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and jose our bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we
