SUNDANESE Food And Exploring KAWAH RATU, BANDUNG

in my last vlog i showed you how i traveled by local transportation from bogor city to bandung i checked into my hotel and checked out the very famous braga street in bandung today i'm going to eat some local food in bandung and i'm gonna go rent a scooter for my next few days of adventure me rika kejak sun okay so i had heard about this famous noodle place this like famous um traditional noodle place here in bandung but sadly they were only open for takeaway and i didn't want to like have to go back to my hotel to eat my lady breakfast so i've decided to go to another place so i've just found another world here called the world chamar and the menu looks pretty good so this is the menu some meatballs different like rice packets so they have a lot of choice here oh yeah thank you so i think you can just kind of pick what you want uh in here is tofu and this one is fish fish and fish yes i have to say sometimes i get a little bit like scared or nervous coming into like super traditional worlds especially when they don't speak any english and i only speak a little bit of bahasa indonesia because i didn't really know what any of the dishes are and there's certain types of meat that i don't really eat there's a lot of fish fish things and honestly i didn't really know what any of the dishes are so i just picked like four or five dishes and i guess i'll taste them and hopefully they'll be good and it's you know it's pretty cheap anyway but uh yeah it can be a bit intimidating when you just see all these dishes but you don't know what anything is and you don't even know how to ask them oh i want this i want this this is a beast as you guys can see i chose quite a lot of different dishes to try okay so we've got the rice and i am [Music] this thing up show you guys wrapped in banana leaf some sort of vegetables spinach i think okay yes okay let's start with food obviously love the rice loved the sambal tempeh is totally empty this spinach dish totally empty wasn't so keen on this one maybe just because i'm not that big on tofu and the chicken was great okay so i decided to order quite a few different things as you can see here uh tahu nasi tempeh and a water head came to 30 000 just less than two euro i'm hiring an nmac scooter for the next two days so i've just hired a gojek bike to bring me to the scooter rental place but we're getting stuck in some crazy traffic here in bandung at the local market um okay so i had to get a gojek to come to this area it's outside the city sua motor and mobile bandung so i think that they have scooter rentals here so we're just writing at the contract here to take the scooter for two days okay guys it's super super quiet on this road it's like super misty it's pretty cold so i'm gonna try and take a few clips on this gopro as i'm driving okay guys so i'm just getting the ticket here uh sadly there's a really big difference between local tourists and foreign tourists they're trying to charge 200 000 that is like literally what you pay to go to bromo that is a lot of money and also that doesn't actually include your scooter so you have to pay extra for the scooter but you don't really have an option if you want to go in you got to pay thank you okay so this is the ticket 200 000 oh here you have a map so i think i can drive most of the way up to the white crater [Music] we're entering an active so last month i went to egyn crater it took an hour and a half to climb up to the amazing asian crater and see the blue lake it was a very tough hike and it made the view really rewarding and just before that i also went to bromo climbed up king kong hill and also climbed up romo crater and the hike up kind of made the view better so i've just arrived here at this crater outside of bandung and the funny thing is i've parked my bike here and i'm already at the crater the crater's right here you don't even have to hike how crazy is that seems to be sort of like two crater lakes it's a bit smelly it's the sulfur coming out and this is an active volcano i actually read a report from one girl she came here and she couldn't understand why there was no one here like she was literally the only person here and it turned out that the volcano had erupted a few days previously and it was actually closed off and she didn't realize she i guess she came some sort of back road and she ended up here a few days after the volcano had erupted so this is an act this is an active volcano so you said you used to be able to walk down here yes about in 1969 you can people walk down there you can try boiling eggs with salt water because we thought it was about 35 and here and 36 wow so it erupted but you said it erupted last year as well yes in 1919 uh 2019. 2019 and then close to three months somebody people come here because these poisons yeah all the sulfur right all these are yes so this guy one of the guides whoa are you running whoa so this erupted in 2019 so guys this man that i've been talking to is just telling me a bit about the volcano and he's saying in english the name of this volcanic crater means queen so queen crater so it's shut down in 2019 for three months after it erupted and also it had a really big eruption in 1969 and before that you used to actually be able to hike right down and you know try boiling an egg and stuff but uh you can't do that anymore [Music] this is pretty cool can't really see but the water down here it's a little bit blue on this side and then it's white blue and white [Music] okay i'm just walking alongside the perimeter of this crater you cannot walk the whole way around but you can walk right over there i'm gonna walk there and you can walk right up towards the top over here but um it's a little bit smelly not too smelly not as bad as egen or bromo but a little bit smelly and it's pretty cool that you can drive your bike the whole way up here and then walk around so it's very accessible for people to visit um there's a very solid fence so you don't have to worry nearly slipped but here's a good viewpoint so yeah you can walk right over here super cool i was just talking i was just talking to some local guides and they tell me there's actually another crater here but it's super cloudy right now so you can't see it like really really low line cloud but they said if i come back tomorrow morning at like 9 00 a.m that i might be able to climb down and he said one of these guys can take me and that you can actually boil an egg down there so i'm actually tempted to come back again tomorrow even though it was 200 000 to get in and it's another 150 000 to get a guide to go down to the other crater it might actually be worth it coming back again there's lots of little souvenir shops in case you're looking for local souvenirs from this area t-shirts and jumpers and bags see these guys apparently these guys are quite famous in this area i think they're called hola ola [Music] this really is super super cool so cool you guys can see this all these trees are quite dead this isn't from a fire eruption it's just due to the sulfur now here you can see some of the guys that offer these pony rides kind of just offer them up and down this road oh i've just come into this small little room for something to eat [Music] [Music] [Music] the adventure continued to some pretty cool tea plantations outside of phantom and the very famous floating village in lembang but you guys are gonna have to wait for tomorrow's vlog to see that adventure
