oh my goodness summer is going to be here before we know it so that means it is time to get busy and make some really fun DIY Decor to use outside this summer and I am so excited to share with you seven really easy summer DIYs with things that I got from the Dollar Tree it all just [Music] go so for the first one I'm going to make a planter and I'm going to use use this plastic tub that I got from Dollar Tree I really like that color but I want to make this look like galvanized metal so I'm going to just do this with spray paint first I'm going to take some black spray paint and I'm going to spray paint the entire planter just a little bit here and there because I don't want the entire thing to be black but just putting some streaks and a little bit of black paint here a little bit of black paint there and I'm going to have a really unique looking galvanized planter that's [Music] plastic now once I was done with the black paint then I came back with some Rustoleum chrome spray paint and I did the same type of technique just randomly spraying the silver so that it would blend in with the black and this is the end result I think it looks really cool I think it looks more like metal than it does like plastic now I already had these flowers so I just hot glued them into the planter and I'm going to make a hanging planter using a couple of things from the Dollar Tree a plant hook and a solar light Stak and this solar light is so cool which I'll show you in a minute and I know it's early in the video but hey go ahead and hit that subscribe button then hit the Bell notification so you'll be alerted when I have new videos coming out and the planter looks great in the dark because of this awesome little flickering solar light that came from Dollar Tree for this project I'm going to be using these brass wreath rings and I'm only going to be using the largest ring and I'm going to be making a really simple wreath with this which I think is really nice for the summertime and I had these faux flowers these are just stems and after I separated some of the stems from the branch itself I just wrapped it around the bottom part of the wreath [Music] then I used a little needlenose pliers and really secured the stem onto the wreath form now I'm only going to be putting these florals on the bottom of the wreath so I just wrap the stems around the bottom portion of the wreath if you wanted to you could do this all the way around but I want this to be something very simple which is why I'm only doing this on the bottom portion of the wreath and after I had a stem on either side then I took a smaller stem and using my hot glue gun I just secured the stem onto the middle portion in between the two stems that I already had placed next I took a few individual leaves and I just hot glued them to the wreath form anywhere where it looked like there was a little bit more of the wreath showing and I wanted more of the greeny I just secured leaves to those areas of the wreath and I decided to add a little bit more more green but I wanted it to be a little bit different so I just took a couple of end pieces of some Greenery and I tucked them into the green re that was already on the wreath form and I found these really pretty flowers at the Dollar Tree they're just so happy and spring or summer like and I thought these would look so pretty on my wreath so I just took the heads of the flowers off of that bundle of flowers and then using my hot glue gun I glued individual flowers over top of where the greenery is [Music] and I tried to keep all of the flowers the same except for the one in the center I wanted a little bit different one right in the center and that is it isn't that pretty and here it is hanging hanging up in my dining room and a really great way to hang a wreath like this is just by using some thread you can't hardly see it at all have you seen these Pink Flamingos at the Dollar Tree these are adorable I actually have a big video coming out with just Flamingo crafts but this was an easy one so I just took some metallic copper paint and I painted my Flamingo because I want to put this out in my flower bed and I wanted it to look like it was a more high-end Flamingo so I just painted it with this spray paint it did take a couple of coats of the spray paint and I did let the paint dry in between each layer before applying another layer of the [Music] paint and you can see some of that spray paint is dripping off but don't worry you won't be able to tell in the end [Music] project and once it was dry this is my Flamingo next to a day lily in my flower bed I really like how this turned out and it was so easy to do now one thing that goes really well with Summer decorating is a gazing ball but they can be kind of expensive so I had this Styrofoam ball I don't even remember what I bought it for but first what I did was I painted it with a very dark navy blue paint and then I'm going to be covering that with some Dollar Tree glass pieces like these right here and I'm just going to secure each of those glass pieces all over this Styrofoam ball I've seen where people have done projects like this and they use just the white Dollar Tree balls or even just a white styrofoam but by painting this first with a navy blue paint to me I just really like that look a lot better and it doesn't look like a project that I just decided hey I'm going to put some marbles onto a plastic ball and see how it looks no I really like this look because that darker color underneath those glass marbles to me personally I think it looks higher end being all the same color [Music] now if I had clear glass to put on this I probably would try it and see what clear looks like but I really like that cobalt blue I think it looks so pretty in gardens especially when there's different Greenery around it [Music] so I just covered the entire Styrofoam ball with those marbles all the way down to the bottom because I'm going to set this onto a candle stand but isn't that [Music] pretty next I took a candle holder that I got at Goodwill and I used hot glue and also some Gorilla Glue and then I just secured the gazing ball onto the candle holder and this is the end result you can still see some of that blue paint beneath it but I really like how this turned out and I think it looks so pretty and it will look great in my garden now this is such an easy project I keep saying that but I got three of these solar lights from the Dollar Tree and then I took some floral foam and put it into a galvanized container that I got from Goodwill so I just secured the floral foam down into the container [Music] and next I had these floral stems that were leftovers from another project and they're just grass and they have these pretty purple flowers on the top I will leave a link in the description box below in case you wanted to get some for yourself these are really nice and they're very plastic so they will be just fine outside so I fluffed out the floral stems and then I used my hot glue gun to put glue on the bottom portion of each stem and then just secured it next to the floral foam so it's going to go all the way around the foam and this took six of those individual grass stem pieces to get this full look next I just took the solar lights and pushed them down into the floral foam now the one in the center I left that as tall as it could be and then I cut a little bit off of the other two and put those in kind of at an angle on either side of the first one and this is what it looks like outside I think it is so pretty I love that grass Greenery it looks so real and for you to get the full effect this is what it looks like at night the solar lights at Dollar Tree are really nice now this is a fun project for the summertime so I took a couple pieces of the plastic wear from Dollar Tree and I'm going to make a cake stand first I painted each of these pieces with white chalk paint and the white chalk paint is pretty forgiving and it sticks really well to the plastic so this part is going to be the [Music] base and then the cake plate is going to be the top so I did paint the underside as well as the top side of the cake plate and I did use a couple of coats of the chalk paint on both the top and bottom of the cake plate as well as the bottom portion of my cake stand [Music] next I took some E6000 glue to be able to secure the bottom of my cake stand to the cake [Music] [Music] plate once that was dry this is what it looks like but I wanted to add something a little bit extra so I took these beads from the Dollar Tree that are like a wreath and then using some Gorilla Glue it's like a craft glue it's very similar to E6000 but I just put that on the bottom edge of the cake plate and to get that instant grab I did use a little bit of hot glue and then I just put that bead wreath right on that Outer Edge and it fits pretty well around that bottom [Music] Edge next I took some Deco art acrylic paint and I just painted the beads now if you're going to be doing this project the beads will turn on you so you need to make sure that you get all sides of the bead if they start turning make sure that you get all sides so none of the natural wood shows through unless you like the natural wood and then you could leave it [Music] plain then I did take one coat of The Deco art acrylic paint and I just painted everything one more time now I do want to make sure that I can use this for like a party so I did give it a nice thick coat of a satin finish spray paint and this is the end result this is so pretty this was really easy to do it didn't take very much time and this would be a great centerpiece for desserts or something if you're having an outdoor Gathering now have you seen these butterflies at Dollar Tree they are so pretty and I decided that I wanted to make something that I could have outside in my garden so I painted all of my butterflies with The Deco art white paint it did take two coats of the white paint to completely cover all of the wood but I really like the indent ations and the differences that you can see on the butterfly and because I have a lot of those little flat cobalt blue glass beads or marbles left I decided to add those to the butterflies now what's fun with this is you can do any type of pattern if you want to I decided to do some of the raised areas is on the outside as well as the center of the butterfly next I took these Garden staks that I'm using for a different project but I still had the Stak part so I flattened everything out because I want to be able to put my butterflies outside so I used some Gorilla Glue craft glue this stuff is super strong and I put that onto the back of the garden stakes and then I secured them to the butterflies and I didn't have to use any weight or anything on them they actually set up and stuck very well on their own now what I didn't show you is once these were dry I did go ahead and coat the back of the Butterflies as well because I want to seal all of that wood because these will be living outside then I gave it a coat of varnish to make sure that the paint stays in place and these are my butterflies look at how pretty they are I think these will be a a wonderful addition to my butterfly garden and all of the projects that I made were so simple to make and very affordable I love how each of them turned out and I hope I've inspired you to make some Decor [Music] too and if you like this video and you want to see more go ahead and hit that subscribe button and I look forward to seeing you in my next video [Music]
