Street Legal Track Weapon: The Dodge Viper ACR Extreme Aero Package

hard to beat that sound yeah let's give this car a little bit of a wiggle shall we all right here we go all right hey everyone this is kyle with four horsemen racing and today i'm so excited to tell you about the dodge viper right here we have my favorite car in the collection this is a 2016 dodge viper acr extreme aero package [Music] so today we're gonna take a look at it we'll do a little walk around we're gonna drive it you guys are gonna get a feel for what this car can truly do it's amazing so first off you'll notice on the extreme arrow package we've got these canards up front pushing that front end keeping it stable and low to the ground um you'll notice the vents over the wheels as well to help circulate get that air out of there so we don't create lift on the hood this whole thing uh the whole top of this is carbon fiber which is awesome the hood weighs like nothing that's carbon fiber as you as you look at the tires and the wheels the tire is called an acr tire made by kumho and it is so sticky you get this thing on the track and you hit a turn i've gone into several turns where i thought i was going to slide off the track but i hit the brakes and turn the wheel and the car just sticks it's incredible as you walk back towards the end of the car you'll notice the sight exhaust which i love we'll start this thing up in a little bit and you'll hear what this rumble sounds like so there's a couple things that i really love about what dodge did with this viper first of all this wing is just incredible right you look at it just looks so awesome it's not aftermarket it came with the car but one really cool thing is they made it 1776 centimeters wide for the birthday of our country which i think is great this is an all-american cars built in detroit they really did a great job uh the carbon fiber they do all there as well um and as being part of a gtc car a one-off car the original owner actually had all of the the dodge personnel that built this car they had him sign the deck underneath underneath this trunk lid here so we have all the signatures of people that put their hands and put their labor into this car and um to me that just speaks volumes i think dodge did such a great job it's a bold move dodge really didn't make any money on this viper in fact they they had to reduce the price just to sell them out they don't make them anymore but for an american car company to produce this car in america which is just a track beast and has so many cool features and it's such a unique car i got to give dodge a thumbs up for that they did a great job this particular viper is called the gtc spec so i am not the original owner of this i bought it used but the original owner specked out the colors the interior everything there's over 8 million combinations you could get on a gtc viper this particular color is called grigrio i don't know if i'm pronouncing that right but it's a ferrari color it's a ferrari gray and i think it just looks amazing you put the black stripe over the top with the red stripe and it is just the best looking viper out there in my opinion you also add the red leather inside of it and it looks great we'll pop pop the hood for just a second take a look show you what the motor looks like this is an 8.4 liter naturally aspirated motor it's the largest v10 motor that's made for a production car like this it produces from the factory 645 horsepower but we've done a little bit extra to that american racing headers have been added and a corsa exhaust including on top of that we've also done the aero uh control module and so all together this viper is producing about 700 horsepower i had it dino tuned up here at salt lake city elevation which is about 5 000 feet and it produced 593 horsepower to the wheels at this elevation which is just incredible for this car and it moves and it sounds great so we'll we'll hear all that in a second but we're excited to uh take a ride in this and let's see what it can do good so this thing accelerates well but where it really performs is in the corners oh man the handling on this car is just unbelievable if we get some clear traffic here but you can take these turns it doesn't even feel like anything no it just sticks to the ground and planted on the ground and it's a pretty cold day when these tires warm up this thing is just unbelievable sticky but you notice we don't i mean we're holding g's on top of g's and we don't go anywhere in this car so on the track i have a i have a g meter on this thing and um it'll i think it maxes out at 1.5 because usually when i go to the track it'll be max g's 1.5 and uh it just i've never slept in it and i don't track it that much i track it maybe once or twice a year i think it's just fun i don't want to beat it up too much that g-force is just amazing i've never slept hard to beat that brembo carbon ceramic brakes and i've never had brake fade i've never had any issues driven this thing in 100 degree weather and hit the track in hot heat too and this this this braking system is by far the best i've ever tested in any car i mean this thing just stops on a dime we'll do a little break test here ready all right here we go [Laughter] stops on a dime that is just so crazy i mean you just gotta hold on when you hit the brakes on this yeah it wants to throw you out the windshield this feels like a race car it's really the closest thing i've felt to being in like an actual race this is like yeah it's like driving a go-kart but a bigger version because it just it's so sticky and so responsive and so nimble you feel like you're in just a tiny car it's just crazy i mean we can just rip this thing around say this is a violent car yes this is not your daily cruiser if you want a daily cruiser you know i've got other stuff for that yeah this thing if you want a violent drive that's what this dodge viper is and in one word violence violence yes i love it we'll put it right here on screen violence violence yes if you don't like somebody i'll put him in the passenger seat and i'll i'll uh hit him against the wall a few times in this car and it'll just so violent the acceleration the braking the cornering the suspension i mean i've hit my head on this roof how many times if you hit a good bump yeah it's gonna throw you around so which to me is part of the fun of this car yes i've seen people in this car that reviewed it or whatever say no it's so loud it's so noisy it's so so this or that it's just it's not comfortable and i'm like so that's part of why i love this car because it's not any of those things but it is better at handling than any other car i've driven by by a long shot oh my goodness all right all right we'll go into some questions here all right so you have quite a few cars in your stable yep where does this car fit so this car is the number one on the front factor yes for sure because it is just so much fun to get in here and rip around and and drive it fast by far the funnest car it is also by far the most uncomfortable car that i own most violent car that i own the most unpredictable car uh sometimes if you're just driving on the street and you hit like a rut or a line on the road the car wants to follow that because of the tires and how sticky they are and the stiff suspension it's just so you've got to be on top of this car when you're driving it you know it's a manual so you're shifting you got to have your hands on the wheel so you keep it under control so it is just on a different scale of any other car that i own i haven't uh an rs7 that i drive kind of is my daily car and that thing is so comfortable and so smooth and does everything i ever wanted to i can put my bike in that car and take it to work it's just an amazing car um i have a corvette z06 a 2018 which is just a a great car it's a fun car to drive it's very smooth it's very comfortable it doesn't handle as well as this car but it's not supposed to i have you know some trucks that i drive around which are really fun a 911 turbo which is just super precise and super accurate all the time and it's a great car just to drive every day but nothing really compares to this car this is just a class of its own and if anyone is looking for really a driving experience that they've never had before you got to get this car oh my goodness nothing like that v10 no oh my goodness if i'm like yeah i just closed your mouth just like i'm speechless the sound and the performance and the handling and the suspension and it's ah it just makes you want to drive this car all the time yes so it is drivable on the streets it is so drivable in the streets i know a lot of people say i can't drive that anywhere on the streets look i've driven this thing a couple thousand miles on the streets i'll drive it a couple times a month just you know just for fun and i've never had any problems obviously it's not going to go nowhere in the snow i don't drive it in the rain the tires are made for the track they're basically slicks that are approved for street use and uh it is just not a car um for inclement weather however if the roads are clear i can go everywhere in this thing i take it downtown i've taken i'll take my wife out on a date in it whatever you can do a lot of things with this car so it's nothing to be afraid of yes it has low clearance yes sometimes it scrapes the chin a little bit on the on the ground but it's nothing that is horrible i've been able to get out and you know of any situation that i've been in even low clearance you just take that thing sideways and be careful it's fine it's fine drive the car the car is meant to be driven so the sound the sound is amazing never gets old every time i get in this car i think this doesn't get old i like dodge's little performance though yeah that's so cool how performance screen here is to get your torque and horsepower and everything else and i can switch it to different gauges and that so it's all right here i got my data at my fingertips yeah i mean i said i got to give it to dodge like they really did something that nobody else has done especially for an american car company to do something like this where they there's no money enough for them i can't imagine how much money they spent developing this car and you sell a couple hundred a year i think like four or five hundred a year yeah and no one wants to buy them because it's 150 000 dodge yeah and uh you know what but there's something to be said for that kind of passion that dodge has to produce this vehicle as as like crazy as the car is it went under the radar yeah like people didn't realize how good these things were yeah until they stopped making them they stopped making them and now everyone wants one in fact the values of these things are going up very quickly because it's the you know where else can you find this type of car who else makes this kind no one makes this kind of car especially an american car company no they're not making this car dodge made it in the v10 yeah the v10 no no one's got an 8.4 liter v10 no but yeah maybe it gets six miles to the gallon but who cares it's a race car save the race cars and this thing has like a 11 or 12 gallon tank so it's like you've got 100 miles of range you fill this up you go to the track you fill up you fill up and then you fill up after a session yeah you drive home you keep filling up the track it just drains that fuel so quickly see what kind of cheese we can get on a wiggle here that was 1.12 g's right there did you notice any squealing no nothing there's just a slightest squeal slightest little slip right there that's what you're like two g's 1.2 g is the lateral force and we have cold tires yeah and it's how cool is it outside it's uh 36 degrees 36 degrees outside and we're holding 1.2 g's on a side to side lateral with in total control that's crazy yes that is madness i do that in my z06 and when it's this cold and as soon as i you know step on the gas my back back ends going around as soon as i take a little turn i'm just kind of sliding around and uh you know a lot of that has to do with the tires but uh 36 degrees you know all performance tires are gonna be hard rubber they're not gonna not gonna have a ton of grip but this thing just still continues to grip i mean it's just a hats off to the suspension team at viper who built this and takumho for the tires like unbelievable yeah the balance on this thing is incredible too this motor is is placed behind the front axle so you get better balance for the back i believe it's 50 50. this thing still has i believe it still has the fastest nurburgring time for a manual transmission the fact that it's manual is so cool yeah like that's just icing on the cake it's awesome you know it's just fun to true race car you're shifting it you got to hold on to that wheel you're holding on for dear life in a turn because it's got so many so much g-force all right let's give this car a little bit of a wiggle shall we [Music] 37 degrees outside we've got cold tires and this car will still give us 1.2 g's just like that going 40 miles 45 miles per hour i mean it's just it's crazy what car does that no find another car that does that i don't know what car race cars like can they do that this is i mean this is a race car and they made it street legal
