[Music] hey everybody how's it going welcome back to general great day today well we're here at in and out meeting up with a good friend of ours that being step on and he's got one of the coolest cars out there i mean the fastest i think american track car for for so long how are you doing stuff hon how do you like your viper gtsr this thing is unreal the viper is amazing it's amazing track car so is this basically the acr but then even a more rare version of that because it looks like an acre to me honestly when i see it from a distance but then getting up close to it and hanging out with you at the track you know seeing that gtsr badge on it it's really unique so what's the story behind the scene if i can ask yeah of course uh good question so the acr is american club racer uh that dodge viper produces and uh the acr is strictly uh a track focused race car everything has been stripped out of it has no sound deadening no carpeting in the back so um for the uh customers what dodge did is they uh in their final edition in 2017 as you know unfortunately dodge viper stopped right now being produced it's really sad thinking about it because now you have like the c8 mid engine now out and it's taken off so well i think if dodge brought back the viper it would it would be really good i think it would they were talking about maybe the julia platform or something oh yeah platform so the gtsr they only made 100 of these and uh it's basically the acr package with the gigantic wing how much downforce this provides on track it's like 1700 1600 yeah 150 miles an hour yeah it's six foot two inches wingspan it's got u.s flag i love this so this stock comes with that painted it's so funny so overall the gtsr this is like a custom livery right over above the acrylic that's right it's uh it's the final edition the commemorative edition they made i think five of them for 2017. five different commemorative editions oh okay i got 100 of these and then they have the uh there's a there's a voodoo edition there's the one dot 28. so this is pretty hard to get it's pretty hard so overall then when you're tracking are you adjusting the rear wing like different tracks like auto club speedway or laguna seca can you adjust the angle of attack with that or how does that work you can't you can adjust it uh it's adjustable but when i when you look at the track manual they actually say it's fact from the factory it's got so much down force already adjusting it okay it's gonna just drag it down it has tremendous amounts of drag actually at one at a hundred and i think top speed is 175 on this and uh the one without the wing is probably 200. usually with stock so that what you'd recommend do for most viper acr guys or if they're like super serious is then adjusted the reason to make it more aggressive is to increase the rear downforce at 600 pounds at 150 you've got enough downforce yeah yeah you're right i have never lost the back in this car ever and usually the car is uh is very well planted oh yeah because with that much downforce you got to realize you're the same downforce i think or similar to like the mclaren senna so those are the fastest cars out there so overall i i completely understand what you're saying are these painted stripes yes so that's just like the um the new gt500 track pack can i can i ask you how much the um well how does how much do the stripes cost on their own so the gt500 you buy it separately but to get this car spec gts r it comes with it so it comes with the yes so let me give you a little bit of background story in 98 um i think 98 98 or 97 they had the g the gts r uh um on the track and for for their customers they made 100 versions that looked like the track car but for the street and it came with the white painted white paint painted on blue stripes it came with the wing it came with the the gtsr emblem came with the uh us flag okay and the dive planes i think it came with the guide plates so for uh their 25th anniversary they did the same thing and they only made 100 of these for their customers i know further the 500 when i was ordering my track pack i paid ten thousand dollars for paying attention it's worth it it's worth the finish paint job is really nice you actually buy the if you pay 600 more dollars you can get the roof black so then they should subtract probably a third of the cost right that's a great point here in this board i i know some of you watch the channel you should have done that because you're paying 10k for the stripes and you're just kind of like deleting this deleting like a third of it yeah i i don't get it i think it's one of those things the production line they got to send out this to this place in this place and i don't i don't know how the whole process works so the good thing with the gtsr is that it still comes with the acr package uh so first let's start with the hood the srt hood with the acr and the gtsr comes with the extractin extraction vents i've removed the vents already okay just for increased downforce so that actually increases downforce wow that's right as the air enters the front what it does is it just there's more extraction over here and it doesn't get hung up in the engine bay and so it sucks the car down to the ground wow i also have this removed usually it comes with these louvers and comes with this little mesh grille over here i've got this removed so that also there's increased downforce and less less current less turbulence from the wheel well most of the time when you want to open up the engine bay uh you just kind of reach in here and kind of fiddle around with this and not in this one in here you just kind of reach over here oh it's down there it's down here you can't even see it can you oh you know what maybe there it is right there so you just pull this back how does that work that's right just pull on it oh my gosh and that's the carbon fiber weave right there huh full gloss you can see it glisten in the sunlight that is insane you're attached to the hood i've never seen that before oh my gosh so if you were to damage this or crack 20 grand really oh you can buy these guys more part has everything online uh i've looked at the hood uh this is actually my second viper i had one one accident uh in 2017. oh no animal crossed oh i'm sorry i hear that that's okay i i within a month i got another one so it comes this one came with the carbon brace which i love yeah it looks awesome yeah so 8.4 liter v10 641 horsepower 650 650 is it 50 horsepower oh my gosh and check this out this is really this is really nice it's got the bilstein adjustable uh compression and recoil dampening so it's it's a 10 setting adjustable right setting front and rear wow i actually can see the settings right yeah and it's it's like have you ever uh have you ever taken a um it's got this nice click to it you know i love setting it because it's got this little click so when it comes to setting it it's straightforward you spin that yeah and that's that recommendation is uh for the track depending on different tracks like willow springs is really bumpy i think fontana is a little a little bit better uh less bumpy so you can change that and the settings i think rebound was seven and compression was five and then just go back up and down from here wow for the street you loosen it up but i noticed that it gets really kind of wobbly on the on the oh it does yeah it just feels so i like it i like to keep it in the track setting it feels a little bit more planted this is the ultimate like i think american track car that you can buy that is fully adjustable that's right like i don't think the z zr one you can't do that with with the bilstein racing shocks like that this car you can adjust everything you can also adjust right height right height so so how about the front end front splitter is that adjustable no it's not the front end uh splitter just comes the way it is but right now it's because i've got my stock rims on it and stock wheels uh usually on the track i put forge lines with the hoosiers they're a little bit smaller outer diameter so it's it's set for that so the front end drops a little bit so then you have 15.4 inch carbon ceramic brake rotors up front right well uh i might have done my research checking this thing out come on dude this is like one of my dream cars this is one of the coolest cars out there and you never see them so no i i definitely know my facts here and there yeah this is the brembo six-piston front carbon ceramic rotors i think the rear is 14 and some can i ask you how much brake pads cost i just did the brakes it wasn't that bad what it was i want to say 2500 is that for the full set yes friends yeah um maybe maybe four or five k wow four five kilos so that sounds right about what the mclaren is but honestly i mean i've put a lot of track miles on this car and i i really it really it's designed to be driven hard so i have 16 000 miles on it now uh second set of pads and you know what guys that's exactly why i like this guy right here because he actually dries his um viper gts or even there's a hundred of them in the world and you have number one number 13 of 100 he still tracks this thing and i see him on auto club speedway never i think you should join me at laguna seca coming up that'd be a lot of fun with this car i'm tempted so another thing is uh if you look at the headers and then kind of maybe you can see it exactly what angle uh just right here down there yeah so that's that those are the headers that come with the car the exhaust travels down this way and goes right through here and then you've got the amazing the side exit exhaust so that's how it works right there now i heard that um from stories online that the cabin gets kind of warm that's a good point actually what happens in this car they figured it out uh they i think the older versions they crisscrossed or they met in the middle and then that side pipes here i don't get any warmth in the cabin the door still does get pretty warm oh it doesn't only on the track as a matter of fact yes because uh i've got this car wrapped and it's uh affected so full ppf full ppf absolutely yeah i've protected this car are these the stock harnesses no i put aftermarket harnesses uh on it from team tech that's what they recommend uh when i got the car is it a four point or six point six six point then you have a fire extinguisher down there now that now that should have came with the car that's really cool wow then a six-speed manual right that's right something that most cars don't have anymore the checkered flags on the doors i love that what i'd even notice that right there oh my gosh easter eggs galore easter eggs everywhere now is this only an option for acrs wow that's my first acronym and if you look everything is alcantara i love that yeah it gets hard to clean it doesn't it here and there here and there how much trunk space you have in this thing oh it's not bad not bad well it's actually a lot more than i expected there's your owner's manual right down there air um and then so the acr does not have this carpeting here the brake what's your head the brake ducts are through here for the rear cooling brake so that's the brake deck right there rear brake duct yeah oh my god and uh in the in this in in all um in all uh non-acr versions because they again this is a gts technically and then you spec out the acr package i think it's like twenty thousand dollars yeah and you get everything the acr has plus the creature comforts which is the cup which is the carpeting it's got a subwoofer um and then they re they put the air ducts through here from the side and it goes down and the acr you see this like almost like a hoover hose come out through here into here really that is so cool and is this a stock roll bar no uh i had uh installed there you go you're fully so that's for your harnesses right i feel like this is also uh carbon fiber oh my gosh so there's a lot of carbon fiber in this car i think uh i think dodge uh did a great job with this i wish they continued it but you know this is a car that is going to be uh part of history it's a special car you know and it's going to maintain that for a long time so i think this car got more track records than any of the production car didn't 13 ones that's right laguna seca 128 um nurburgring what was it again never mind seven minutes one second one and then and some change that for 2017 in a manual exactly an american menu i don't know why those are so speaking of that what kind of tires do they use to get that job done so uh the car comes with the uh kumos uh 355 3019 and if you look it's got the acr package actually oh actually says acr so how expensive are these tires they're not that much really i don't know 350 each really not very reasonable and actually got the american the the checkered flag oh yep yep you're right about that and i think these are the same as the ecsta v720s but this is because of the acr and the different size comes with that acr package so is this your diffuser right here part of the acr package itself the track package yes it is actually when you buy this car it comes with it not installed for transport reasons because as you can see i've already scraped the bottom of it oh no i don't care they can't be replaced uh it's carbon right not the diffuser this is the top part the install ins yes where it installs to is carbon but the diffuser itself is just plastic veins they go all the way in and if you can see maybe from from the from the back you can see a little bit better uh let's go back more oh yeah the middle ones are kind of further apart and they start going outwards like so they fan out like this and the reason it does that is as it comes here it decreases it increases the the air velocity over here pushes it aside and then what it does is it decreases uh um decreases air pressure and it sucks the car down to the ground at least that's what i that's my theory and what sits right here oh my laps uh really yeah i just installed it i installed a rear um tow hook i got it and i just installed my my laptop that's really cool what is like like the go-to like track settings for like camber that all the acr guys use the track manual it does make some recommendations usually it's it's it's about minus two in the front and minus 2.5 in the front some people go up to three but i do drive this car on the street and uh and so i i just i'm i'm happy with my minus 1.7 in the back and then i put minus 2.2 in the front remember take this thing out for a spin to see what it's like let's do it so here we go first time actually in an acr and um as you guys can see i got my camera mounted right here but uh the seating position with this thing is is unreal actually look at this and i think this is all alcantara right and then i feel like my head is pretty close to the roof um but but in general this is really reminds me like the 0.506 like four gts um this is awesome man i'm super excited about this sounds really good actually oh my god so what's the red line on this uh six thousand six thousand yeah sixty three hundred okay i i gotcha i guess so it's kind of like the c a chord c corvette red lines up by right around 6500 and i and i think what they did with the with the tuning of this car is that um the power is laid down right after three thousand four thousand okay so it doesn't break the rear loose which is really nice i think that was that was a problem with the earlier generation yeah and it does it does have all the uh grannies so you can have sport mode you can have track mode with the rear all traction off there you go you can you can keep holding it and then what it does rain mode rain mode actually if you keep holding it it's like uh crazy mode hold on let's see it's like a special fully yes it's all red don't do it well they thought of everything because i've got a handle right here before when you go faster than the race tracker so that's my bar like i can hold on tight there's not really much going on here when it comes to a handle wow all right mind if we roll down the window a tiny bit let's get the full effect of the exhaust going that way echo wing right let's see if that works oh my gosh very deep and like throaty wow when when uh you get up to redline and you let off the gas it does something that does something else with it really i've never experienced it in any other car oh my gosh how does the manual feel i think it's it's a tr 6060 right right it feels very similar to the 350r it does it does very it's a short throw it feels solid sharp very sharp the porsches i feel they're a little flimsy that metal pole is just too flimsy this feels no no no complaints great honestly seeing all the videos online with it and yeah you're gonna feel the jeez wow there's nothing like an in a v10 right lap after lap there's no there's no um power loss with heat it's cooling is perfect never overheated oh my gosh a lot of cars like when they get to this level the huge wing and everything you can't see much but you can see perfectly behind you like with your track pack you can see the wing but this you can see great yeah the wing is actually just right above your your mirror vision so it's pretty good so i got to ask you so what made you want to go after a viper okay i know you got a lot of really nice cars so um i was actually in the market for a uh zr1 i think in 2007. zero and what's coming and so uh the viper acrb beat all the records had 13 lap records and uh i was sold i just noticed that so it says g-force gauges so you can see everything on that that's right it's got oh my gosh some parametrics uh oil temperatures you know i've barely gotten this up to 240 on the track really uh coolant it's got uh intake air temp actually i did have my um viper specialists in install a um uh a cooling device for a shield uh gold plated shield for the air intake so really sort of cold air air can you record lap times no oh no only issue with this car holy grime we've got the uh we've got the uh parametrics for the engine oh wow so it shows your horsepower putting down now you know 245 that is really cool how that works actually and it's just the power comes on very linearly it's not like with my mclaren it's kind of like you you feel the boost kicking in right even with some of the portions it's kind of like up high as well it powers even with the r but this feels like you got a lot of torque down low it does have a lot of torque down low but it won't suddenly break the rear tires okay okay i gotcha all righty so here we are made into some really uncool canyon roads and right there all those bumps i feel like you really feel the stiffness towards the rear end right there just because you're sitting so far back right right but the entire car feels so planted i don't feel any body roll to you yeah this car tends to understeer a little bit and this is why we i've got more camber in the front dialed in so it balances that out oh it's like crackles that pops off right the stiffness was that traction troll right there kicking in yeah that's really close you can actually hear it when it does that wow all righty here we go first time driving a dodge viper acr or should i say just playing sorry how does that work if you have this car is it gts just playing gta sr the guys everyone knows acr everyone knows make sure this is closed that is so interesting how light the doors are there's feeling that man in this oh the the checkered fly you can really see right there that is really nice um anyway so it was a seat manual yep it's manual adjustable that is good so a lot of cars the braking the gas are very far apart or spread out this is close so you can heal toe down shift not just that but you can also adjust the uh the pedal uh distance what i've never seen a car do that before except like four gts and stuff or the la ferrari all right here we go starting it up where is the start button oh that that vibration rumble is just unreal i love that viper logo right there i'm sorry saying cobra because you know why um anyways the one thing i'm noticing right away though is that this strike is super wide a lot of cars out there yeah i've never been a passenger in my car oh you haven't but the hood is massive though isn't it that's so cool to look at you should have seen it before wow so steering is very very direct very dirty which is very good for the racetrack oh my gosh that gear changer was a full field that felt phenomenal oh my gosh wow i can just feel the grip right right away man this is like the perfect corner for this car brake light is very nice i saw you fly forward just now the mclaren is so opposite that's why i brake so hard right there when you put in the mclaren push down the brakes there's nothing there and then boom it comes on it's the opposite this is instant bite which makes it very very nice a little bit you know what not so much not not so much i just find that well yeah i could feel a trendline a little bit um but it's more so just just the steering ratio it feels more direct to me than a 48 pistol um so if i so more so faster string for sure oh wow yeah oh yeah i can see why you love this thing on trackpad it's just so stiff and so planted oh my gosh oh wow you can just take all these corners without breaking to be honest yeah so the car you know once you start getting used to the feel of the car and kind of being that far back in the cabin it translates very well to what's going on oh my gosh yeah i just it translates what's going on the road so well i know right oh my gosh yeah you feel 650 horsepower it kind of reminds me the hurricane to be honest with you with the v10 the way it just it comes on but the n a man it is so direct i love it because you can just stay in one gear in the corners but if the straight away yeah just why not those gears it's definitely a car you got to get used to you know right away kind of like okay what are the dimensions of this how does it feel because you're so far again you're so far back yeah it's hard to get the rotations compared to the porsches they rotate a little bit better you're completely right so you can feel the downforce working man oh my gosh [Music] dude i'm i'm in shock right now i i mean this car is absolutely unreal the level of grip that you have even though we're not going fast we're on the street right right that's all for the racetrack but um you can just feel some cars ride away you can feel the mechanical grip and the way the car responds it's so precise it feels like you know it's just begging for the owner like you to take it to the racetrack which i'm very excited laguna man because if you come out with this thing that'll be so cool you can completely see the tire right now through these vents again dude i i really appreciate the opportunity to drive this car because absolutely one of my dream is right here and it looks so amazing and the heritage red white and blue i think in general this is one of the rarest versions of a viper right more rare than of acr this is way up there i think so i think so i think like i said they made only 100 of these for their customers and viper uh dodge did a good job so one one last final question for you would you like to see viper come back i would love to see viper yeah yeah you think it's gonna be front mid engine are they gonna go down like the chevy route i think they're gonna go uh rear engine yeah i think so dude i'd i'd love to see but it's gonna be a while [Music] you
