Strange Fire | Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart | Sunday Morning Service

reading this morning from Leviticus a lot of you have never even read The Book of Leviticus you need to if you haven't the 10th chapter beginning with the first verse and they dab and about you the sons of Aaron took either of them his censure and put fire therein and put the incense therein and offered Strange Fire before the Lord which he commanded them not let me read that again and he put incense therein and offered strange fire before the Lord in which he commanded them not and I want to use for a subject preaching a few minutes this morning Strange Fire that's what the Holy Spirit Called It Strange Fire would you bow your heads heavenly father thank you this morning for your grace thank you for your spirit for your help O Lord your guidance and I ask it all in the gracious name of the Lord Jesus Christ to touch the hearts of people O Lord to touch the hearts of people and I ask it all in the Most Holy Name of Jesus giving you praise and glory and everyone said amen and amen praise God I had the privilege of preaching several camp meetings with a in front of of whom you have heard me mention his name several times and he had the greatest anointing of the Holy Spirit on his ministry of any preacher I've ever heard in my life he and H.B Garlock his H.B Garlock was his brother-in-law if I remember correctly opened up West Africa to the Gospel of Jesus Christ most of the missionaries that went to West Africa in those days died of Blackwater fever four out of five died ever how many that there were that went through the years and both brother Garlock and brother Trotter went to West Africa brother Trotter contracted Black Water fever and he was dying he was not in the camp where they normally were but had gone quite a few miles up a river and this particular night it had rained like a downpour all night long and they were planning on getting up that next morning boarding the river and the river normally was about 25 or 30 feet wide and maybe two feet deep that was it but it had flooded rain all night long as stated and the river was half mile or more wide that next morning and some 40 feet deep they did not have a boat no way to get to a boat and they were desperate for any way to get across that River and they had no way to get across it to take their goods I couldn't swim that it was too wide and not only that but it rained most of the day and most of the next night and I asked sister Garlock about this and I'll tell you what you told me in a minute they didn't know what to do except fall on their knees and say now Lord you've got to do something we don't know what you can do but you are God and you are a miracle working God Hallelujah and they had seen the dead raised that's a fact they had seen the dead Rays they had seen tremendous Miracles and and brother Garlock said you're going to have to perform another miracle Lord praise God I remember when I met the man the first time it was in Los Angeles California it was like he wrote half of the book of Acts and it was not one of these things that you wonder if it's real you know it's real and I remember when I saw him I he walked up on the stage and came up where I was and introduced himself said I'm H.B Garlock I couldn't say anything I just stood there knowing that I had met few in my life if any that was of the caliber of this H.B Garlock and he said Lord you've got to do something we've got to get across this River some way and it's done nothing but rain the last few days and nights and they went to bed if you would call it the bed under a tent still raining and raining hard but here's the thing that you need to know they went to bed that night on this side of the river and awakened the next morning on the other side of the river Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah glory be to God did you hear what I said did you hear what I said I asked sister father did because they put it in the book that they wrote years later before we kill and eat you and that's another story and I said sister Trotter did that really happen did Brother Garlock and the porters he had several Porters that means several young men to help him with the what he had to take with him and y'all and they really got up on the other side of the river he said brother she said brother Swaggart I wasn't there so I can't vouch say I wasn't there but my brother HB said that it happened and as far as I'm concerned it happened [Laughter] [Applause] salvation bought Victory yes victory that the powers of sin of sail Heaven's grace shall never fail Victory yes victory praise God praise God praise ladies and gentlemen that's what we need in our churches today that's what we need in our heart that's what we need in this country that's what we need in the white house that's what we need in the All Over America that's what we need in our churches that's what we need in our heart the mighty power of almighty God Hallelujah to the lamb glory to God we traveled we were in our own plane at the time and we went to wagadugu and but in Africa right close to the equator and it must have been 125 degrees and uh while they were going through the the plane were Customs the way they do whatever the case there were eight or ten missionaries that had come to meet us and uh I was I walked over to where they were and I would like I said we were waiting on them to finish at the plane and uh I said to them to Joel because the last camp meeting I preached with brother Trotter was about a year before this occasion I'm mentioning and um they were on their way they were raising money to go to this place to wagadugu whatever in the world wherever it is I forget the name of the country this was their Capital City then I think they've changed the name now anyway so I was I was thinking about this and I said to y'all did any of you ever know a.m Trotter and the eldest brother there his hair Snow White said oh yes brother Swagger I knew him well he said in 15 20 countries around here every person baptized with the Holy Spirit and all of our preachers baptized with the Holy Spirit were baptized under brother Trotters Ministry and I heard brother Trotter tell some of that and he preached one night on the Holy Spirit and scores came forward to be filled he said and he said this young man he watched him he was praying that the young man kept saying I want you to do it God I beg you God I beg you God I beg you God and said brother try to laid his hand on him and said Son you don't have to beg the Lord he wants to fill you just turn around and Worship the Lord and he said he turned around raised his hands I beg you Lord I beg you Lord I Thank You Lord start saying the same thing but he said I noticed he got filled and so did every other one there praise God ladies and gentlemen I believe God is able to do great in Mighty things and I believe he's going to do some Great and Mighty things praise God hallelujah [Music] Hallelujah Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah Hallelujah one of thought Jesus full salvation bought Victory yes victory let the powers of sin of self Heavens Grace will never fail praise God Israel had just now been delivered out of Egyptian bondage and God had favored them by giving them the law and I may have I may be a slightly wrong on my numbers here but if you look in your Bible I think you'll see that it the Holy Spirit spent three pages detailing the creation of this planet and the universe and Mankind now let me say that again the Holy Spirit awarded three pages in The Bible to explain creation whether a man whether a woman whether this planet and the universe and 14 pages to explain the law and the Tabernacle yes think about it as right what are you saying because the Tabernacle pictured Jesus Christ and it pictured salvation salvation by the blood of the Lamb and the idea of where I am coming to you this morning Israel had not long had the Tabernacle finished and they were beginning to Worship in it I don't mean anything nobody went in it except priests but as what they had to do in bringing of sacrifices and all of that the spirit of God moved at one particular time and fire came from the holy of holies and Fire decimated and burnt to a crisp the sacrifice now you think of that it went through the veil that hidden the holy of holies and the veil at the front and never burned it the power of almighty God God is a miracle working God he's a miracle working God and I want you to help me to pray about something it's very important I think as I read those slips that come to us on the Sheratons it's it's so many of them saying brother Swaggart I have cancer others my dad's got cancer my wife has cancer it's a plague I want you to pray with us and God will give us an anointing to see these people healed and to stop this plague of cancer glory to God my Lord is able He's Able I know I know my Lord is able to carry me through it's a plague that's gripped this nation I can't answer for the other part of the world but it's it's killing until thousands of people and I know I said here on this platform and was we we were going to pray for a dear lady and her husband she has cancer and the Lord moved upon me to say this and his Earthly Ministry of three and a half years he never questioned anyone when they came for healing he never said one single time you don't have enough faith and I can't pray for you if they didn't have it he gave it to them he never one single time says you're not living right and I can't heal you now you think of that not one single time and God is a god of Mercy he's a god of Grace praise the Lord and he's a god of Divine Healing for he said I am the Lord that healeth thee and I want you to pray with me believe God with me to give us an anointing of the Holy Spirit because this which is impossible with us it's nothing with the Lord glory to God they went to bed on this side of the river and got up the next morning on the other side Hallelujah glory to God glory to God Lord we're asking in the name of Jesus that you would give us an anointing of the spirit despite this disease for you are a god of Might and a god of Miracles it took a miracle to put the stars in space it took a miracle to hang the world in place but when he saved my soul cleansed and made me home [Music] it took a miracle of love and Grace my father is omnipotent and you can't deny [Music] a god of Miracles is written in the sky it took a miracle to put the stars in place but you kept moving the words [Laughter] but when you saved my soul cleansing made me home it took America oh of loving Grace praise God you believe God can heal cancer you think God can heal cancer father in the name of Jesus right now I'll take authority over this disease if there are people in this congregation if there are people watching the television who has cancer be healed in the name of Jesus Christ be healed we claim victory over this thing in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ glory be to God praise the Lord and fire came out of the holy of holies the Tabernacle had two rooms the first one was I think 15 30 feet long whatever it was the second one was smaller it had the Ark of the Covenant and the fire came out from the Ark of the the Covenant and and burnt up the sacrifice but then something else happened a few days later and the scripture insinuates that these priests one of them was to be the future high priest of Israel he was Aaron's son but they would be drunk when they went into the holy place you know you think of what I'm saying here was the picture the Ark of the Covenant at the very back the brace and altar at the very front the Brazen altar the fire was to never go out on that altar it had four prongs on it on either north south east and west stating it was the same for everyone and the fire was to never go out as the carcasses of the little lambs and it is believed that over a billion over a billion Lambs were offered up on the Brazen altar throughout the time of the law and the if you walked into the front room to the right would be the table of showbreads 12 lobes specifying the 12 tribes of Israel for let me say this Israel was monotheistic meaning they worshiped one God and that was Jehovah the whole world worshiped demon spirits but only Israel worship God when you read your Old Testament that's what you're reading and the only people on earth who knew the Lord and let me tell you it's narrowing down today most countries of the world don't know God Europe doesn't know the Lord anymore Donnie was just in the Netherlands and I asked him when he got back immediately how much immediate that it was great I was a crowd it was good but it was not what it ought to be and Europe doesn't know the Lord and America is drifting farther and further and further away and at this present time the White House has opened its doors to that which is rank filth and we need to believe God that the Lord is going to replace that it's it's occupied by people who do not know the Lord and and then if you went to the door of the Tabernacle there was the Brazen labor water had to be replenished every day at nine o'clock in the morning at three o'clock in the afternoon clean water had to be poured into because the priest had to wash their hands and their feet every time they went into the holy place and then on the curtain that hid the holy of holies from the second room the holy of holies was the altar of incense which I'll deal with in a few minutes more then to the left was the golden lampstand every morning at nine every morning at three o'clock I mean every afternoon at three o'clock oil had to be replaced into containers and the wicks had to be replenished and then there was the holy of holies where the Holy Spirit dwelt between the mercy seats and the cherubim and this particular day I do not know what these men were thinking I cannot put it in my mind what they were thinking but they were to pour incense on the altar of incense and this was all of it was very special to God but this was very special because it typified the intercessory work of Christ who he had not yet come and wouldn't come for 1600 years more but it's still typified the intercessory work of Christ they would pour thee first they would get colds of fire from the Brazen altar outside get those colds of fire bring them in put them on to the table of the altar of incense and then they would pour the incense the incense was made of Stockton and galbanum particular type of risings that came from three different trees stock take albino aren't you what's the name of these three trees and then frankincense would be poured over it and it would fill the holy place with a wonderful beautiful aroma typifying the intercessory work now the Lord hadn't come it would be sixteen hundred years before he would come but it was a type of Christ in his intercessory work we're here today because he ever lives to make intercession for us glory to God praise God every last one of you here every one of you but television countless times you say well what does the Lord do when he makes intercession for us does he call out my sin no no he doesn't say anything he doesn't do anything he doesn't have to he did it at conference cross glory to God the price has already paid the price is already they do you hear what I'm saying [Applause] and he atones for our sin and if you are fretting over something you did last month that you had no business to do save your breath he's already forgiven it he's interceded on your behalf he ever lives to make intercession for us and that's what that altar of incense represented of course Jesus would be 1600 years coming but that's what it typified all of us very special to God but this is very special they were to come in and pour the incense on to the colds of fire and it would fill the holy place with the pleasant aroma our sins have to hurt the heart of God greatly but his intercession fills everything with his presence and it blocks away the awful Aroma of sin and a failure thank God he took my sins away he took my sins away and he keeps me singing every day I'm so glad he took my sins away he took my sins away I said he took my sins away well it took my sins away and he keeps me singing every day foreign well I'm so glad it took my sins away [Music] he took my sin away they went and got some coals of fire in their sensor or pan came back into the holy place but that's what it was called The Holy place and they poured the coals of Fire down and then on the altar of instance and they poured the incense and at that moment because it was strange fire came from the holy of holies went through the curtain went through the first curtain and hit both priests that were officiating that day one of them the son of Aaron and killed them both instantly and I want to ask a question what is Strange Fire what is strange fire the world is full of it the church is full of it Strange Fire it's it's anything that's not from and by the cross if it's not the cross it's strange fire about three weeks ago the Lord spoke to my heart and told me do everything you can to get the preachers to preach the cross because judgment is coming if they if they don't preach the cross the only thing that could stop judgment is the Cross of Christ understand what we're saying the only thing that will stop the Judgment of God is the Cross of Christ he told me have the preachers preached the cross encourage them to preach the cross it's the single most important thing today in the world and I don't mean every sermon you have to preach the cross but make it the bulwark of what you preach preacher and every one of you laymen you place your faith and confidence totally and completely in Jesus Christ and him crucified let me say that again you place your faith and confidence exclusively in Christ and him crucified 24 hours a day seven days a week are you understanding what I'm saying let it flow through your mind and your spirit your heart at the cross at the cross where I first saw the light and the burdens of my heart rolled away it was there but Faith you're saved today because of what Jesus did at that cross you're washed in the blood your name is written down in the Lamb's Book of Life you're not on your way to Hell bluntly speaking you're on your way to heaven you're on your way to heaven because of what Jesus did at the cross I'll say it over and over again that when I pray and even other times Lord the object of my faith is Christ in him crucified I say it over and over you don't have to do that don't misunderstanding just talking about me now the object of my faith is Christ to him crucified it's not me or any other person neither is it in the church or ceremonies or rituals but it's in Christ and what he did at the cross and that's the source of total and complete victory within your life ladies and gentlemen Strange Fire I'll tell you what it is anything that's not the cross the church today has opted for a humanistic psychology that's strange fire the church has run aground on three things I meant three things money people and education now let me deal with that just a minute money I was in a restaurant the other day and two men walked up to me and and introduce themselves I didn't know who they were that didn't really matter but and I was asking him they were preachers what what did he do and he said we're just passing through he said the church I pastored he said the Pastor I mean the people told me they didn't want me anymore and I said well what happened he said they didn't like what I preached and they told me that the man in the church had gave the biggest offerings we won't give another dime money number two people if we compromise the message to get people in number three education God doesn't place any premium on ignorance so don't misunderstand me but when we compromise the message we have destroyed what God is trying to do people money education keep your eyes on Jesus money need not bother you people need not involved in you education need not bother you keep your eyes on Jesus Christ glory to God it is mine my blessed be his name he has given peace perfect peace to me it is my my blessed be his name mine for all eternity could you stand please well it is mine my blessed be his name he has given peace [Music] [Music] blessed peace [Music] and with me right now if you need Christ say it with me dear God in heaven and I want the congregation to say it I come to you in the name of Jesus I'm sorry for my sins the way I've lived the things I've done please forgive me and cleanse me with your precious blood from all unrighteousness with my mouth I confess the Lord Jesus in my heart I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and he's alive this moment I accept Jesus Christ as the savior of my soul and the Lord Of My Life and according to God's word which cannot lie I'm worth I'm cleansed I'm saved praise God hallelujah it was amazing grace [Music] I found before I dismissed or slip up your hands right now church and let's just begin to worship them let's thank him once more time for that Amazing Grace how sweet that sounds [Music] I agree [Music] I was blind [Music]
