good morning are you excited to be in the house of the god of god are you excited to be in this house one more time a place where miracles occur a place where liberation occur a place where uh deliverance and miracles and everything that you need occur i'm just excited about being here today in the house of god amen why don't you just lift your hand and just give god some praise give god some honor give god some glory because you know he's worthy of it right you know he's worthy of it you know he's worthy of it you know he's worthy to be praised hallelujah hallelujah oh we just bless your name today we just bless your name today there's none greater than god hallelujah we magnify your holy name we worship you in this place we thank you in this place hallelujah it's just so amazing that this morning that the young lady walked into the sanctuary and i'm just saying that so we know that we always have to be ready you don't know who god's gonna send in who was needing prayer had a chance to pray with her and hopefully she left with peace i'm sorry she left with peace so we have to be ready when someone come in we never know this is the house of god this is a house of healing people are looking for change people are looking for deliverance so you just never know who you're gonna run into amen so i'm gonna start by reading first corinthians the 13th chapter verses four through seven and we know that this is considered the love chapter amen and it says love is patient and kind it is not jealous or conceited or proud love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable love does not keep record of wrongs love is not happy with evil but it's happy with the truth verse 7 says love never gives up and it's faith hope and patience never fail may god bless the reading of the word father god in the name of jesus we come to this place god that you have hollowed out god for us to worship god for us to give you honor god for us to give you glory god for us to exalt you god so we exalt you in this place god we lift you up in this place god we trust you in this place god we believe you god that you're in this place god and that something miraculous is about to happen in this place god let the atmosphere god change let the atmosphere shift god let the atmosphere be just what you wanted to be god and so we're thanking you god and we're praising you god that somebody's gonna come in and they're gonna leave differently god because you're gonna touch of god because you're gonna heal of god because you're gonna deliver on god you're gonna save them god so we thank you for what you're about to do in this place god we pray for the word god that's gonna come from the mouth of our bishop god that it would go out and that it would accomplish everything that you intended god in the name of jesus god you are the powerful god you are the people god you are the trusty god you are the loving god you are the mighty god you are the great god and so we give this service to you god and we trust and we believe that at the end god we shall rejoice we shall be free we shall be liberated so we thank you god for what you're about to do in this place and we give have an amazing team that does such a great work um keeping everyone engaged during our virtual services so thank you to them as well you know this week i had a week of of rest a week of rest now i did a few things but this week was for rest and you know rest is important think about psalms 23 the very second verse says he maketh you to lie down in green pastures doesn't mean that he makes us he forces us but he allows us to rest he prepares space for us to rest and i want to to ask you today to take that rest amen sometimes we're so busy being everything and being everybody amen that we forget rest rest what rest does is it allows you to have your mind restored your spirit renewed amen and it doesn't always mean a vacation just means time that you a lot to just chill whether it's just reading whether it's good morning uh elder alpha i see you coming in here good morning god bless you we're so grateful to have you here but you want to make sure you are making time for rest you can't keep going amen and if you get to the point where you're off kilter guess what everything around you is off kilter so rest god allows it he prepares that space and that time for you to rest so family and this year is going to be incredible it begins august 1st at the saint paul church at 9 00 am for our one day family revival my son in love pastor claude cheatham and i will be ministering the word it's gonna be amazing virtually we're gonna do it again the blessing of the children every family will be in their own home oil in hand anointing your children and walking them through this amazing time of consecration then august 5th one of my ministry sons dr napoleon bradford who's a wonderful pastor out of maryland will be ministering virtually and then following that will be breakout experiences then august 6th our family drive-in movie night how about that it's gonna be amazing the whole weekend is gonna be amazing the whole week is gonna be amazing and all of it except for our first sunday in august will be virtual now we are going to celebrate our children as we always do in salute to scholars there's a special uh informational time coming for that i love you guys so much i can't wait to see you together not just virtually but in person as we celebrate the power of family spread the word pass the word and be prepared to have an amazing week from the first hands and say together amen you may be seated in the presence of the lord i want to first say that it is a joy to experience all of you those of you who are viewing uh through a stream thank you for spending time we want to challenge you those who who are who are worshiping through stream uh not to jump off but to stay through uh you don't get the whole experience if you don't stay the whole time so we want to encourage you to discipline yourself to not be drawn away but to focus so thank you those of you who are in the sanctuary god bless you uh we are now in um let me see we started in april so we're counting our end of our second month into our third month and uh so we're grateful to god to see each and every one of you here uh thank you worship team can we celebrate god for our worship team amen i shared with them how blessed i am because of their authenticity and the purity of their sound and they do such an amazing job and we give god praise glory and honor as always i i am grateful for my family my my amazing wife uh pastor g i love her so very much she she serves on the servant's team but she also cares and serves for her husband as i care and serve her and so i'm honored honored to walk out the rest of my life with her and of course my daughters i love them dearly you know i'm i'm kind of in this interesting place now i work two places and so i miss my wife every day and i call her all the time and um she'll send me those texts uh how's your day and i just start smiling okay you ain't never been in love right when you're in love all you need is a hello okay i need some people that's ever really been in love they ain't got to say nothing deep just say good morning you go to smiling like it's christmas i know i am yeah so i want i i hope everybody falls in love as much as i'm in love with her because if you fall in love the way i love her you're gonna have an amazing journey amen and i'm sure there are others who are already there so you can testify it is good to see alpha here alpha alpha walked with me for a few years and uh he's alpha has elder alpha has one of the biggest hearts i've ever seen in service and he just man he loved me and loves me unconditionally and he he protected me in many ways guarding me and and making sure that i had what i need and in that season and i'm grateful so it was good to see you it was good to see you it is good to see you i'm in this series on um on seizing second chance chances someone someone just speaking the atmosphere seizing second chances and those who are who are virtual you just put it in the thread seizing second chances and and so today i want to go to an extremely familiar passage one that has been preached here by me and others on several occasions but the lord really said something kind of unique to me today or this week through this text from luke chapter 5 verses 1 through 11 and you all know i'm not going to read all 11 verses i will reference them but but i i will read um um on the two verses that have always seemed to be central to this story verse four says when he finished speaking he said to simon push the boat out further to the deep water and you and your partners let you down your nets for a catch this is the good news when he finished speaking when he finished teaching when he finished proclaiming and pronouncing he said to simon push your boat out back to the place where you came from unless and let's try this again wow simon answer he says master we we've put in the best effort we could we've worked all night and you know what we have nothing to show for it but if you say so god i feel like preaching we'll let our nets back down okay put in the thread tap yourself try again try again in my office in richmond uh my wife decorated it right so so she brought these inspirational sayings the one that has become my favorite anthony comes from wayne wayne gretzky the hall of fame hockey player he once said y'all ready for this you ready for this lin he once said you missed a hundred percent of the shots you don't take okay michael we're gonna try this again he once said sister monique you miss a hundred percent of the shots you don't take this simple quote is so profound for me because to be honest many of us when we experience challenges and obstacles in life find ourselves no longer taking the next shot the reality is is that this pandemic has really made some of us no pun intended to our last name gun shy many of us have become really kind of apprehensive first of all we're apprehensive to relationally or socially engage others for fear of catching or contracting the virus but i also want to suggest brother ron that we have now become fearful of just simply trying to live life with tenacity and passion and many of us whether we know it or not have become very apprehensive we're kind of living in this awkwardness of knowing we're supposed to walk by faith but we're afraid to even take the first step we know we're supposed to trust god but in this season we've become apprehensive overly cautious acting as if we've been snake bitten our theology really can't explain why loving merciful god would allow the entire world to be consumed with something that has seemingly left us not just physically traumatized but emotionally traumatized and many of us if we were to tell the truth behind the mask is a frown behind the mask is fear behind the mask is a lack of confidence in anything especially in ourselves we begin to grapple with our confidence and we become critical of our effort and the effort of those around us and watch this because of this season and and because of the way many of us have been wired if we're not careful we'll never try again however i want to encourage those of you who have tried before but have experienced a setback don't give up and don't give in i need you to put that in the thread don't give up here's why because god has amazing lessons embedded in that season and if you try again you will be amazed at what god will do for you and god will do through you god i feel like helping us today see history is replete with examples of those who failed but tried again oprah winfrey was released from her first television job and told by her boss she was unfit for tv well we know the rest of that story walt disney was fired from the kansas city star because his editor felt watch this he lacked imagination and creativity stephen king first bestseller was rejected 30 times before it was finally published michael jordan was cut from his first attempt to make a basketball team in high school and we all know how his life ended up and yet one of the greatest examples of trying again is luke chapter 5. i need you to grasp something very powerful and important and see when i begin to study the text and go deeper into the geography of this text minister james something hits me it's important then to understand that the setting of this amazing story is late it is late janessa rat watch this it was a flourishing body of water where fish were in abundant historians suggest that the fish was so plenteous until towns around it thrived because of how fertile the sea was how how amazingly abundantly available all of the fish were and yet when we're introduced to these fishermen they've caught nothing where success is supposed to be easy okay okay y'all missed the whole revelation they caught nothing where they're supposed to be fish everywhere okay y'all still ain't got it they were told that this is the best place to fish and i'm pretty sure this ain't the first time they tried it but when they meet jesus they have a night where they've caught nothing y'all still ain't got it here's the tough part god will allow you to go to places where other folks seemingly have succeeded and you'll come up with nothing and you'll wonder what's wrong with you people relocate to atlanta and the hollywood wanting to be movie stars and end up being waiters and they wonder what did i do wrong there are people who go into relationships after watching their parents marry for years and say why ain't it working for me there are some of you who are who are engaged as a couple and wondering why that single mother that doesn't care about nobody can have 10 children and you can't have one you sit here and you wonder how you can start a new job and you will hope that that new job was a great opportunity but you discovered that no door gets open you go to college thinking that if i get this master's degree everything is going to be all right and after all your degrees you can't find a decent job how is it that i can fish where everybody else is fishing and don't get nothing it's not that there's something flawed about me it's not that i am inadequate or incapable something is trying to be accomplished through the night i toiled with no fish the potential is still in the lake god's just trying to walk you into something amazing can i push you because i'm sure this isn't the first time that they tried to fish there but for some reason the morning that jesus encounters them they're licking their wounds repairing their broken nets and while they're doing that jesus in truth i'ma throw this in for free it's amazing how jesus will meet you in places where you don't feel like being bothered [Applause] okay okay thank you brother see see here's what's deep some of you know what it feels like when you're not having a great season and jesus shows up talking about try this [Applause] okay i'm talking to myself anybody know what it feels like when stuff ain't working and he says keep trying okay i'ma try it again anybody know what it feels like when we when when the lord keeps saying keep paying your tithe but your bills keep stacking up i need some help here anybody know what it feels like when the lord keeps saying don't give up on that relationship but it ain't getting no better they get meaner they're getting angrier has anybody ever been in the season where the lord keeps sending you back to a crazy job and the ball seems to get more power than less power i need some real saints in here that know what it feels like when you give your child everything you can give them and they're still ungrateful and they still behave like they don't understand and you're sitting here going okay god i'm fishing where i think the fish are where are they and the lord says try it again really god [Applause] i'm walking out with a broken heart you want me to take that hard that ain't repaired yet and let it try again because when jesus shows up they're still repairing nets i need to make eight of y'all shout and tell you that god ain't gonna wait till you got it together to bless you this time he gonna bless you while you're working on your next preach man he's gonna bless you wow you're trying to figure out he gonna bless you while you're still weeping but here's the good news weeping may endure for a night but i need somebody to put in the dread joy because joy is the response to your continual trying [Applause] a try again you got to seize the second chance by not being so discouraged by that which you dream of to not open yourself up to possibilities beyond the failure while having the evidence of broken nets in an empty boat so how does one get up and try again i mean after you try come on y'all let's can i talk to some real folk after you've made certain stumbles you just don't feel like you got the energy to try and the one thing i've discovered about disappointment it has a way of chipping away at your passion for the thing that you actually desire and love it has a way of making you re-adjust your expectations you start out with giant expectations and disappointment makes you walk in opportunities you're just afraid so you start saying you know what i ain't gonna try this no more you know what i'm gonna do i'm gonna go find something else to do but here's what's awkward you're built to do what you haven't succeeded at yet you're actually built to do it and that's the strange thing god you want me to go back and try it when i'm supposed to be accomplishing it by now and watch this and since i told other folk early in life i was gonna be this now they're standing there watching me come back to the shore with no fish the hard part about being a dreamer is that you got to handle nightmares sometime [Applause] but i want to challenge you to go back to sleep because this dream is about to be better than the one before so how do you get up and try it again deacon rodney here it is first thing is you got to feed yourself what replenishes you okay i want you to notice that after the failure watch this passage watch this day after the failure they do something amazing jesus shows up in the middle of them repairing the nets and managing this moment really didn't have to clean the boat because there was nothing there watch this watch this deep greg watch this and they and they show up and jesus shows up and they do something interesting jesus asked him an interesting question jesus asked him can he get into their boats and he and they allow him to and he pushes off from the shore jesus sits in the boat and talk the crowd okay jesus the text appears that he hadn't asked them to get in but i'm clear i'm sure that he didn't just commandeer the boat because he never takes over your life if you don't at least give invitation see some of you are frustrated with god because you want god to take ownership of the stuff you ain't released yet you get it so so they so jesus gets in the boat the text clearly says it belonged to simon asked him to push off asked him to push off which means watch this but charles that simon is in the boat and then when jesus sits down to teach simon sits down too don't miss this they are tired they are exhausted they have no evidence of of of their labor they have broken nets but in spite of all of that that's still left they sit down to listen okay you got it they availed themselves to the teaching instruction of the instrumentality of the infinite intellect note this they had every reason to shut down and retreat inward they could have simply said hey hey you know i got to get home so i need to finish these nets and hey i got stuff to do and i can't really stop right now and take 30 minutes or an hour for you to talk in my boat so here's what i'm going to do i'm sure there are other boats out there so i would encourage you to go use somebody else's boat here's what's deep they allow him to uh they allow him access to their boat and then they sit down and listen attentively here's what i want you to understand i am certain jesus was mesmerizing and captivating i am a hundred percent sure that his words did something amazing it arrested their soul it gave them hope and help in other words while the memory of no fish was not a race watch this while the memory of no fish was not erased and the eradicating impact of the night before with no catch was still there his word somehow canceled out the pain if it didn't remove the evidence okay i'm trying to argue this because i need you to get this the awkward tension is that the evidence of it being fruitless is there but the word is now becoming fertile okay watch this they got fruitless experiences but they are now the recipient of fertile word okay you ain't got it the disappointment is there but the deepest level of the life-giving word of the lord jesus christ is now impacting the deepest parts of their soul and when a refreshing moment was given they responded because they were now being exposed to that which kept them alive here's what's deep when you've tried and it didn't work the one thing you can't do is shut down your ear to god because the only way you're going to get what you need to try again you got to keep feeding your soul and sometimes it's difficult to listen to the word that says that but my god shall supply all of my knees it's difficult to listen to the word that says that he shall fight every enemy it's difficult to listen to the word that by his stripes when you're healed it's difficult to hear ask and it shall be given seek and ye shall find when you're not getting what you desire there is a tendency to say god i hear you talking but i don't believe [Music] you how many more times god do you want me to celebrate my neighbor [Applause] how many more times do you want me to go to the wedding [Applause] how many more times do you want me to go to everybody else's housewarming how many more baby showers do i need to attend how many more times do i need to pull in a resume only to hear my friend say i got a new job how many times but here's what's deep while you're dealing with that you gotta keep feeding yourself that which will replenish you and here's the power of it that which will replenish you is his word that results from his liberating renewing presence [Music] so his presence coupled with his word frames the moments that morph you into trying again where many of us are is that we stop listening to the word and because we stop listening to the word we are rejecting his presence because his word becomes his presence and his presence is the conduit of his word that's why you can't you can't become a hermit when you're hurting you got to stay available to god while you're hurting because while you're hurting while you're feeling like a failure while you're going through the difficulties of trying and it not working you got to stay in the presence of god because while you stay in the presence of god god will then give you the capacity to manage that which is coming next i need somebody to put in the thread is coming back again and so what you got to be able to do is stay in the presence of god can i help you you got to keep coming to worship whether it's in person or virtually while you're hurting you got to keep reading your bible while you're hurting you got to keep engaging in devotional time while you're hurting you got to keep worshiping while you're hurting you got to keep singing songs of praise when you ain't got a reason to praise him you got to keep worshiping while you're going through the difficulty can i talk to anybody in here that is a living witness that the reason why i ain't lost my mind is that i know how to find god in the middle of the darkest deepest seasons of my life because while i'm hiding i stay on the boat i stay on the boat who put in the thread stay on the boat henry darwin once said pay attention to the people who god puts in your path if you want to discern what god is up to in your life the presence of the lord jesus was an indication he had something more for fishermen who caught nothing here's the second thing here's the second thing that causes you to retry you ready and this is deep for me alpha this one is deep for me here we go so terry here you go you got to reimagine the possibility well i wish i was a better preacher you you gotta you gotta reimagine the possibility okay verse five master we worked all night we ain't got nothing but if you say so i can see possibilities in the invitation to try again okay wow what an amazing contradiction because this verse marries human reality defined by failure with divine intervention that causes a reimagining of the reality into a possibility what it simply means is that while i'm dealing with what i don't have i'm also dreaming about what's possible and why i'm dreaming about what's possible i am reimagining that if i take the advice and the instruction of the one who has spoken to me while i was empty i got a chance that he's not just telling me to try this again so i can have my heart broken he's telling me to see the possibility out of the pain preach man he's telling me that if i can unclutter my mind of all of the negative images and optics of the pain that has been caused by what appears to be my inability to manage bigger seasons then what i'm gonna end up doing is seeing a dream based upon that which is now revelation and so when people look at me they're gonna say wait a minute look at him look at him he's trying and i know he fell last time but his was deep this note this the possibility was not entertained until jesus involved himself which resulted in an invitation into the glorious unknown which is produced by his word you better preach here's the power of this when the lord invites you into something new he's not doing it to embarrass you he's doing it to awakening you to hope that all things work together for good so even while i got brokenness in an empty boat i got an invitation to a reimagining of my possibility and if i can hold on to what i've been invited into then what i've been invited into will become my reality i need somebody here to stop being afraid to try because trying really sad i still believe i still trust him and every effort i make is a reimagining of my possibilities some of you have lived too much of your life waiting on people who only have an understanding of your past to celebrate your future some of you have allowed your capacity to dream to be controlled by the stuff you can't change i think it's amazing what reimagination can do and some may challenge my use of that word for this particular interpretation of this text but here's what i want you to get when he says i'll let down the nets he still ain't got fish hey and and the net still ain't fully repaired hey y'all hey hey y'all hey hey y'all oh i've had more fun than y'all hey uh hey anyone know i'm having fun because i'm preaching my story hey hey y'all here's what's crazy watch this oh god i just saw this i did just say nowhere in my nose watch this i just saw this watch this i just saw this if you don't move even when stuff ain't fixed he ain't gonna give you another moment because he's transitioning to another town [Applause] i need somebody to put in the thread maximize your moment here here it is here it is here it is when i was a youngster i i told this story before you know you've been to it 25 years you know you just kind of you just kind of read retail stories and some of y'all are new this will be new to you some of y'all that oh say amen like you ain't never heard it before years ago years ago when i was a youngster and we were going to washington dc to see my my oldest brother who's going to be with the lord uh my mom and my dad and i were in the car i used to love traveling with my parents because back then we didn't have no phones we had no gadgets so we actually had to do something called family time isn't that interesting we couldn't could nobody you know could nobody do no you know facebook and facetiming and instagramming and tick-tocking you had to actually talk to each other oh i missed those days and so and and so we were sitting there in the car and we were laughing and having family fun time so we get in dc we have been d.c d.c is a big circle it is it's a big circle right and it's kind of in the middle and this and this and this interstate this roadway goes around it right it goes around dc right you you know right goes around it so watch this your granddaddy right your granddad he's a funny guy he's a funny guy that's that's where i got my stubbornness from him right so your granddad's driving and my mama who always knew how to talk to him right she could talk to him and not embarrass him and so she was talking to him she said and so and so we went around one time and see back then we had no ways nothing so we had to use something called maps anybody remember being in the car where you had this big old and my daddy was so meticulous he would get up the night before and draw a red line right so we drive it right to this cabin and so my daddy was driving and so and so all of a sudden and so we driving and it seemed like it's a little longer than it should be right and so my mama said frank i ain't sure baby but i think we might have missed our exit but daddy said no quincy i got this i stayed up half tonight mapping this out i got this she said baby i trust you and i know you know what you're doing but i think we've seen this before well here's the problem we had to be at my brother's house by a certain time because he lived in the hood okay he lived in southeast okay obviously y'all don't know what southeast is back then southeast was one of the leading drug communities and so if you didn't get there before dark you didn't want to get there at all in my life so it started getting up and so the sun started going down and my mama said frank i think we need i i think we need to stop and kind of figure out where we are no i got this okay baby i know you got this blood i think we need to think about no i got this so we went around and by the third time she said frank we don't seen this before now it's about to get dark so finally my dad and sisters don't you clap because i know how y'all can be he finally listened to her [Applause] pastor g over there just smiling whatever he finally listened to her when it came off the exit now we got to a point greg where it was too late to go into the neighborhood so we had to go to our hotel my brother called it so they called my brother said hey sorry but we missed the exit and da da da da da and watch this and here's the thing that was so powerful my dad made a marvelous statement you ready he said son if i had listened earlier because here's the other part of the story i didn't tell you we had groceries wow so they didn't eat that night because we kept missing exits [Applause] some of you you ain't you ain't you ain't mismanaged your season you missed your moments [Applause] let me get ready to close you got to reimagine your your possibility you got to feed yourself what replenishes your faith because what we've because what we punch is your faith is what i close with which is drawing strength from the replenished faith you try again okay drawing strength from the replenished faith you try again you don't try out a desire now you try out of the strength of a faith that has been fed again taylor i'm not much of a track and field guy and as you can tell by your daddy's bill i i wasn't really a track guy right danger wasn't the track guy right but i noticed something watching marathons noticing sprints you don't get water while running only in marathons do they have water stations the reason some of y'all are frustrated is you want to be rich and famous faster than your developed yesterday my daughter and i loved my daughters and my daughter day just sent me a text about trademark thing and at the bottom of the text it was the cutest day it said d guns ceo i said shut your mouth i didn't even feel like i could i could respond by saying boo so i said yes ma'am i responded business like because that was not a daddy text that was a ceo text but the thing that i started praying for after i saw the bottom was god give her the strength to survive the seasons when it don't look like it's working god i feel the holy ghost here i need somebody to grab the revelation today here it is when i get weak i gotta keep feeding myself because they're gonna be times i'm gonna have to stretch myself one more time i need somebody putting the thread one more time oprah renfrey has this amazing quote it says do one thing you think you cannot do fail at it and try again do better the second time the only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire this is your moment on it that's what i leave you with today see jesus in his loving way calls them into a new moment it's the moment of try again he challenges them to exercise this replenished faith by going back to the place of failure and guarded and guided by by his word this time both revealed in impartation and instruction he says try it again he calls them to trust not the past knowledge of the abundance of the school of fish but the new expression of faith that now inspires them obedience now partners with human expertise to produce a different kind of success i don't want you to miss what i just said some of you have an expertise in something but now you got a partner obedience with it with great humility they try again but nope this trying again produces something different it cultivates an intimate awareness of who they're called to walk with and ultimately who they're called to serve trying again is simon being drawn to jesus in a more profound way he knows that the success of the second chance was not on him but was on jesus and maybe the first time you tried to do it on your own but now you're discovering that if you do it with jesus he'll give you victory jesus then our rabbi and our lord reminds us that if we choose to trust him he will blow our mind by giving us victory in ways we cannot imagine notice what jesus says let down your nets in the same place where there were no fish the first time and here's the power of the text when they do so jesus allows them to have a moment of recalibration and a moment of revelation here's the revelation jesus christ is able to make you something you never thought you could be he's able to give you something you never thought you could have and he's able to walk you into stuff you never thought you could walk in i'll see y'all next week let's ride tonto i need you to lift your hands and open your mouth and say god i still trust you i don't know how you're gonna do this i don't know how i'm gonna get past this i'm not even sure it's gonna happen for me but what i am sure is that if i obey your word you made a decision that eyes have not seen and it what god wants to do for you i know you can't touch your neighbor but touch yourself and say self wipe your tears stop your complaining lift up your head decide you're going to try it again and i'm a living witness that he may not come when you want him to come but when he comes he's always on time see y'all next week but i came to tell you this is the season to try it again this is the season to try it again this is the season to try it again be not dismayed whatever be tied god is going to take care of you i need somebody to go in your inner man wipe your tears throw your head back get your courage back get your conviction back and take another step i need eight folk in here to try it with me you've been backing up cause you've been discouraged you've been adjusting because you lost your patience but i dare you to stand on your feet in your house in this house and at the count of three take one step but this time i'm moving forward i ain't giving up i ain't walking away i will not be defeated by my past i will not be discouraged by my failure i will not let yesterday tell me about tomorrow and so at the count of three i'm getting ready to take one more step one get ready two i'm ready three take your step and know that today is a new day is there anybody that can testify that god is with you in the middle of your dream say yes say yes [Music] try again again try again lynn try again i know it don't look like it's working but all you need is one good moment try again pastor g the mistake so many of us make is we keep shrinking our dream with every blow come on anthony stand right there this is the size of your dream face me life comes hits your stomach you get a blow and you bend down notice his natural response to the blow was the bend right money right the jonah get another blow and you bend again tiffany get another blow bend again get another blow bend again get one more blow and that's where you are you don't even know you're discouraged because you stay right there because you've gotten so used to adjusting to expectations so you don't even know how small your dream has become it started really big and it kept shrinking i've been there as a pastor when i came here 25 years ago i had great dreams and ideas and i went through a season after shirley you've been with me man over 20 years when man some of the blows i took just kept shrinking this vision then one day god told me stop dreaming like a and start walking like a giant and what god will do is god a sin a fresh wind watch this and if you keep get back down and if you keep receiving first thing you got to do hold on get back down one time first thing you got to do is adjust your head your head's been down too long adjust your head because watch this you can't receive fresh wind if your mouth ain't positioned to if your nose ain't positioned so watch this and this is going to take time so god starts blowing fresh and life starts coming back he blows some more he blows some more he blows some more now you're starting to believe again that all things work together and pastor g finally when you get your refreshing back then he says take this next step and he gives you an instruction and you step you ready he's no longer standing where he took the blows hey god's gonna adjust you so where you got beat up at won't even be able to hit you no more everybody be seated i'm done thank you anthony did anybody get this word today [Applause] i want everybody watching and everybody in the room to pull out a pen or paper or go to your device i want to give you four things the lord said to me this morning foreclosing thoughts three of them he said to me while i was in my time preparing to get dressed and after talking to bishop nelson pastor jason nelson we we pray every week so when i got finished with him while i was praying with him god was saying some things and we give these things those who are watching don't go anywhere hang in those who are watching this is what the lord said to me you ready here's the first one cookie we must conquer and correct the way many of us were parented we must conquer and correct the way many of us were parented here it is there's a period right there watch this alpha we would talk to fear failure not learn from it we must conquer and correct the way many of us were parented we would talk to fear failure watch this vow and not learn from it can i give you all major revelation the lord gave me today see remember that time when you got that one bad grade and your parents literally lost their mind i ain't raised nobody to get no f give me your devices go in that room your child plays sports and they strike out and they look in the stands and they see a disappointed parent they miss a shot and they see a disappointed parent right that child grows up and now they have children and they model the same tool failure is your enemy don't do it and if you do it i'ma get mad at you so you become a husband and you don't want to fail your wife so whenever your wife says something to you that seems critical and condescending you shrink as a husband you don't want to fail as a wife so when your husband seems to be negative or he looks at you not as the most beautiful attractive woman in the place but he looks at you as just another woman or he looks at you in anger those feelings of failure let me tell you how how this hit me very hard this week i'm sitting in my office in richmond and i'm i'm multitasking like crazy right jonah i'm i'm pastoring y'all and you know doing i've received our sons and being the dean right and i had this awkward moment of un incredible anxiety and i'm not an anxiety guy i was like what if this don't work whoa what if i fail what if my church loses his momentum man and i can't ever turn this faculty that whatever and the lord said close your door and stop i never seen you anywhere that i ain't gone first he said i'ma let you have this moment but you can't have it when the door opens so here's what got to do he'll let you have these moments baby girl behind closed doors because the world don't need to see that because it's going to send mixed messages we have to conquer how some of us have been parented we've been taught to fear failure michael jordan has a quote that says i've missed thousands of shots and i'm still succeeding if you notice on the highlights malcolm they never saw the shots he missed they always show the ones he he hit am i right greg giannis won the championship this week right they're not gonna show one missed shot they're gonna show the block and the dunk okay can i blow you away tell you when god gets ready to bless you he gonna make folk have amnesia even if they got a memory okay here's the second thing second statement we can't move forward until we embrace that god is in every moment we can't move forward until we embrace the gods in every moment so even in my trying moments that don't immediately succeed i still got to remember gail that god is where in every moment here's the third thing i'm almost done this is gonna bless some of you anthony this is i thought about you i saw your face when when the lord gave me this one and i thought about you i thought about all of you all you people with these dreams these desires that's why i love my daughters i love them for more than the fact that they're my children i love them because they they're dreamers pastor god gave us dreamers he gave us creatives right y'all ready for this monique here it is trust the next move of god in your life trust that the next move of god in your life trust that the next move of god in your life will come stretching you by exposing god trust that the next moment the next move of god in your life trust that the next move of god in your life will come stretching you by god ex by exposing god what does that mean it means the next time i move in faith watch the z i'm gonna learn more about god then i'ma learn about me you ready you ready you ready elder to be james you ready until you take that next step there's some stuff about god he'll never teach you did you hear that daughter this to me listen to me hey jerrod y'all are living it and the next move ain't always increase but it is promotion stop counting dollars when you're living in destiny pastor gene i have added a whole new set of bills but it's all advancement y'all ready cause some promises don't kick in till you kick it you ready but my god shall supply all of my needs is a faith verse all right here's the last one and then we're gonna pray and this is the one i got in the car don't use the first attempt which results in the only way i can have this dream you're built to be a parent what other ways can you achieve that you're built to be a business person how does that get expressed you're built to be an educator so don't stick yourself as an adjunct maybe become a dean you won't know what you've done tiffany and what many of us do you know i'm speaking prayer you know metaphorically here you know we do we get stubbornly stuck on the only way god can expose us to the world and we don't know maybe z our stubbornness is why we're stagnant because we think we can only be this way god's so deep till he'll take you down paths ain't nobody else traveling so you ain't got to fight for spots okay i'm done i'm i'm you know after this we're going on vacation today for four days so i want to encourage you i'm still gonna be praying for you well i may do the prayer i may let cotton do it you know yeah cause but i'm gonna tell y'all this though i'm gonna be praying for you every day and here's why because i got some people in this room and people watching you quit way too soon because you didn't put the disappointment under grace you put it in your heart you got it anthony and instead of taking the disappointment come here pastor g what you know you can stand right there yeah yeah yeah you know come here take this yeah take this instead of taking the disappointment what you did was take it and put it close to you you took the disappointment and started protecting the pain so then it became your reason to be angry and reason to be a victim your reason to be disconnected and unavailable you don't know what i'm going through you don't know what i'm going through you don't understand my life and then you go on facebook and you tell everybody you don't want to be bothered then why are you telling them on facebook it's the dumbest thing for you to vent on facebook about your life two strangers that ain't got no prayer life when my daughter when my daughter apostle news said that it changed me that's why if i ever get sick there will not be a picture of me in the hospital with tubes in me the only folk that should know are folk that gonna pray me back to health not folk they're going to say about time no here's what you do put to your heart you now dislodge it from your heart pull it and you decide throw it to me and you throw it to god you did two things you put it in the hand of somebody that ain't giving it back i know i know i know my sermon is over but i feel a ministry moment here those who are watching watch this here's what the enemy wants to do come in danger the enemy wants to fight you from ever being free stand in front of mommy face her the enemy sobei so they try to throw it to me watch this you ready go the enemy keeps fighting and giving back and he keeps giving you back the pain it's called memories so you got to figure out try it again and the enemy just says i you know what so what you got to do is you ready get it to me now go you got to throw it where the enemy can't get it go you got to throw it ah my shande come on i feel breakthrough here come on come on watch this you got to throw it watch this the only way to get it over the enemy you got to lift your hands throw it okay next time next time after you throw it leave your hands where you threw it you ready to go god says when you leave your hands where you threw the pain to me i will oh my god i feel a breakthrough here i need about eight folk to jump on your feet in the building and they on virtual and start praising god cause you're giving the disappointment come on i feel the breakthrough here cause when you walk out of here today you're gonna try it again i'm done [Applause] [Music] so i need about five folk to jump on your feet in the building and just throw it to god all right you may be seated there may be someone here that the spirit of the lord is calling or someone watching and the spirit of the lord is calling you right now to first give your life to jesus christ that's very simple romans 10 9 if you confess your mouth and believe in your heart that god raised you from the dead you shall be saved that's the first thing second thing if you need a church home we are here for you you can be anywhere in the world but if you're in this building and you're leaking seeking a church home or you're somewhere watching virtually just put in the thread partner if you're in this building heads about eyes closed and you want to connect to this house i want you to raise your hand i want you to raise your hand i want you to raise your hand father don't let us be afraid first of all to return to you and that's what i'm sensing father someone needs to return to you out of whatever disappointment they've had whatever failure they've had they want to return to you father so forgive us of our sins love us afresh show us that we are loved finally god for those who need a church home may they find a place to grow and if it's here will you move their hearts in jesus name amen clap those hands everybody and celebrate god listen i want to uh i yeah i see you yeah and those boys yeah yeah i know what those tears mean i know what they mean yeah i see you yeah man let me tell y'all this the lord said something to me through a person who's who's becoming a part of our team and he sends all these texts and they're always so optimistic and full of full of confidence and that's feeding me but he he made this one texan he said he said it's amazing how god has made you to be the person you are he says so you keep pushing because the way you're built god's gonna do something great with you that text came after i had had a disappointing meeting no like a meeting that took me back 25 years michelle it was a disappointing meeting and i said my officer said god i you know what i pastor church i don't have to go through nothing with they love me and they think i'm a good guy i don't feel like proving myself no more right i mean mo i was right i about to go back to my one bed my two bedroom apartment pack my stuff come back to y'all all the time and the lord said nah i just needed you to see what you're working with and then the text came but let me tell y'all something if you start paying attention to the nuances of god you will discover he's been encouraging you the whole time carlton we just been too busy tanisha trying to measure how encouragement should look [Music] hey danger he's been keeping you encouraged the whole time these family taxes these these conversations you have all god doing is saying girl i'ma keep feeding you so when you make your first million and you buy your parents beach house oh god i felt it in the holy ghost and then taylor makes her first million and she furnishes it but until then i'ma keep feeding you [Music] that's all he's doing anthony today he's feeding you listen all of you in the building our giving is trending up that's good but we still need to intensify what we do as a church giving here's why we got some stuff we need to do you know we need to do some work in the sanctuary hey and before i get out of here my successor needs to have either a new educational building or a revamped worship center and so i'm encouraging you to join pastor g and i to give at a level you've never given at but here's the other thing god has promised that if we give at the level that is it's my prayer that's why one nobody else can sing about me not because i can sing it but because it was written for you and you it's the second reason why because my prayer is when you have to face stuff you weren't prepared for we pray that god will cover you that all will be well if you're next to someone a family member i want you to reach out hold their hand come on girls up here with us and
