Spent Over $2,000 To Make The Mr2 As Light As Possible!

what's up guys i am very excited about today's video because fedex just dropped off a very large package for the mr2 we got some awesome parts for the car and i think you guys are going to really enjoy what we got for this thing kind of went full send this is the ultimate weight reduction mod i guess you could call it that you can do really for a race car i sent it guys you guys are about to see what we got for it and i just wanted to give everyone a huge thank you who pre-ordered the million subscriber t-shirt we are still running the pre-order so if you guys want to grab one still you can still do that now we're probably going to run it just for a few more days once again thank you to you guys but let's go take a look at what we got for the mr2 we're here over two thousand dollars worth of goods in this box right here these came straight from japan i actually middle-manned them um some guy a marketplace was selling them on a mr2 page and i ended up just getting them from him but he had them shipped overseas from japan he had to wait you know either four to six months just to get these it takes a long time to even get them made he got him he never even opened the box and for whatever reason he put him right back up for sale and i snatched him up so yeah like i said a little over two grand to save a couple pounds on the mr2 but i think it's going to be pretty cool so thanks guy just dropped it off and all i can say right now is if i can pick up this whole box by myself for what these are these are much lighter than the factory ones so by the size of the box you guys can probably already tell what it is i've never ordered honestly like any big carbon fiber part before i mean oh you just gave it away dude might as well open it we might as well open it how's my prison shank doing yeah we got the prison chip to open it up it looks like it looks like one of those exacto knives right the hobby knives it's working good did i say carbon fiber i meant these are made out of plastic yeah they're plastic tail lights some big tail lights that's some like authenticity japan stuff going on over there oh yeah look at that we got all the japanese writing straight from japan overnighted baby oh dude packing peanuts for days that's gonna be rough dude i'm excited for these let me keep the people entertained real quick i use those things like i was saying you like them they stick like i'm gonna stick them dude it was a toy i'm telling you what if the windows were in there why would we have windows they are yet yeah oh man all right all right let's get one of these out so there are there are two of these in here because the vehicle has two of each of these man i can't believe gosh this is such a mystery such a mess i can't believe we actually pulled the trigger on these oh dude it was within 10 seconds bro i found these on marketplace i ordered them we need lightweight you can do it it's because it had so much interest right like a lot of people seemed like they wanted them i'm like you're not going to get this opportunity often any guesses yet guys i think it's really still a mystery i think it's really hard to tell by this point what this is all right i got to be careful not to stab it with the shiv yeah i don't care about these yeah i just wanted oh nice still a mystery all right leave them in suspense yep that's not that's not for a handle not a handle opening at all that's that's where the taillight goes i'm telling you we've been talking about big fancy before this is good you'll have that real fancy holy crap it's legit a factory door just out of carbon fiber there dude there it is so it's a carbon fiber door oh my goodness big reveal so yeah sent it two carbon fiber doors for the mr2 like i said these were pricey pricey pieces here but i think it's going to be worth it because i can tell you guys right now this way is nothing it's very very light and we probably have we'll pull one of the doors off today and weigh them yeah we need to weigh them and see where we're at because i think dude it's a huge weight over 100 pounds on the weight on the mr2 because we're gonna do carbon fiber doors and probably do some plexiglass windows and we'll no longer have automatic windows in the car no more regulators we're going full race car on this thing at this point so all that stuff has to go more light more fast and these look awesome i was kind of worried on the finish of them because the guy said he never opened the box since they came from japan so it was literally sight unseen the only pictures he had was from the website so you know you can only you can yeah you can only get so much information for real if i'm like whatever here's here's almost twenty five hundred dollars and uh hopefully they look all uh you know this looks awesome dude those things are sick yeah let's uh set that guy right there dang it's for an sw20 right yeah it looks like the right door hell yeah well i think we get the other one on box and then we take some doors off and get some weight on these things yeah getting her back on the ground it's been a long time since it's been on all four tires yup it's been on the lift for a while we haven't been able to use the lift because this thing's just been taking it up but she is back on all four she is a roller once again look at that exhaust man came out so good dude everything's coming together on this thing yep she's getting there we're gonna almost done what's that said fuel system's almost done yep get the cooling system together we're gonna go ahead and roll this thing back and take a look at what we need to do to get these doors off and wasted no time we're too excited we got to see what those carbon fiber doors look like on there i want to see how much these doors weigh see how much weight we're taking out of this thing yep what's cool is getting rid of these doors also we'll be able to get rid of the mirrors we're going to do the lexan deal here just a little wire frame on it i think yeah super lightweight all the aerodynamics yes super fast heck yeah don't kind of hold the mirrors in anymore because we're just doing the delete don't have to go super moon to mode no more just they're gone dude don't need them delete them be cool to have a switch that when you push it these like automatically like drag mode if we pull this door off and it only weighs 20 pounds i'm going to be really upset we're going to return them things straight back to japan and they're going right back on the boat i'm really hoping this thing's at least 60 pounds yeah because if we're 60 pounds or more a door there's a ton of crash structure in here the window regulator yeah all the electronics everything it's gotta be a good chunk we got the little tweeter speaker in there still you know like that mirror alone got away like four or five pounds probably three four pounds my mirror probably weighs as much as the whole carbon fiber door probably oh yeah there's definitely some good weight there you got that side yep all right hey oh yeah that that has to be close to 60. all right passenger door off what do you think i'll give that a good 50 or 60 pounds i'm gonna give her a give her a yank give her a solid guess here yeah maybe a little less maybe i'm gonna go 54. i was thinking around 50. i'm gonna say 54 is my number all right get the scale out let's check only 146 today almost 140s 145.8 decent oh that might be more than 54. i might be in the 60s but we'll just call what i was 146. that's eight and a 2008.5 let's call it 208. 62 pounds 62. 62.2 ish 62 pounds thanks so much per door 125 pounds total indoors if the driver is the same which it should be yep so 125 pounds let's see how much carbon door we'll probably be adding like four or five more pounds yeah when we're done but this thing is paper dude i was struggling to hold that one up this is nothing 155 10 pounds technically seven so wait what was your weight 148 right 146 146 39 pounds okay so nine pounds nine pounds a door dude so that's right there that's a hundred and ten pound savings so i bet you it's a hundred pounds sounds overall cheese exactly what we were hoping for about 100 pounds off the overall weight of the car so how much how much did 100 pounds cost you buddy do the math you know about quite a bit they were close to 25 what's with shipping is like 24 something for both these doors geez paid the guy 2100 for him and then shipping was another 300 something dollars almost 25. no whatever that divides out to it's probably at least what 20 bucks a pound something like that yes but it'll be worth it you never know that one-tenth they say 100 pounds off the overall weight of the car can equivalent to one-tenth off your quarter-mile time you know for running yeah 808-1 these doors could be the key to get her to our goal along with all the other weight reduction we've done yeah and we've done a lot so i'm really curious to see what the car weighs overall and we have pretty much everything in the car as is now once we get these doors on it's only dismissing the bumper and the water to air and radiator after all that stuff's on there and then the trunk but we have a custom trunk coming we can go ahead and probably get this thing on the scales like next we can get a good idea of how much weight we've taken off the car i bet you everything under the dash like so much right i bet you even with the added weight of like the weight plate and stuff i bet you were still down 200 pounds overall yeah well the weight plate didn't add anything because last time i weighed it i had the same sandbags in there okay it equals them out damn so maybe two or three hundred pounds down yeah it was like 26 something with me in it and the sandbags so if we can get it down to like 2 400 with me in it that's our goal and that would be to be nuts that would be really really good so yeah we could get like 200 pounds off the overall weight of the car with it making the same if not more power than before i mean this thing's gonna move freak yeah dude yeah i wish the truck was that light sad day max waste that literally that engine combo weighs what this car does at least these things are quality they came drilled and tapped ready to go on really glad that these didn't get damaged on the way here they look super nice got a nice clear coat finish look at that guys these are legit this is so awesome mr2 is getting so fancy real race car now buddy yep kyle didn't believe me when i told him it'd be a whole new car by the time we're done and look at it now it's it's gone through quite the transformation dang dude carbon fiber doors on the mr2 never would have thought we'd be getting this nice of carbon fiber parts on a car like these are not low quality pieces right here if you told this to the kyle of 2016 i would be gutting the hell out of these stock doors and this would not even be an option i ain't spending that kind of money but you know what we had this awesome opportunity to come up it's not like you're going to be able to get these fast if i wanted them anyway because i've always wanted to do carbon fiber doors on this car but it's literally a four to six month wait on anyone that really can make them so these popped up on marketplace ready to ship out same day so i sent it and i think these are gonna do us really good in the long run oh we are looking good dude those fit so good yeah we need to adjust the hinges a little bit but hold on shut that again i gotta look at this thing that looks so good you're right it is gonna look pretty weird once we put the handle in there because our handle's white we were thinking about wrapping the whole car when we're done with everything but that looks awesome carbon fiber door on the mr2 man those are nice doors they fit really good look at that i believe these came from a company called right hand drive industries or specialties yeah all the way in japan those are fresh dude we got a good gap all the way those came out really really good those are nice fitting doors dude that is so sick hell yeah in there i mean if you're going to go a carbon fiber part anywhere to save the most weight the doors it's where it's at all the factory doors have a ton of crash structure in them so they weigh a ton they even got the speaker opening if you want to put the speakers back in it put the stereo back in here it's a little too fancy maybe if we ever take it on race week or something we'll throw a little stereo back in it oh my gosh guys the mr2 is looking so good we thought that the white door handle might look a little funny on the carbon fiber door but it actually looks kind of cool just like that i think it really like makes it pop yeah that looks awesome so it's missing this trim piece right here we're almost thinking it might look cool to like vinyl this stripe right here white so it's almost like you know the opposites on the door i don't know yet but we got this door on there just the passenger side so what we did is we swapped everything over from the stock door all the door handle stuff and the latch like all that knocked out and killed it on that and now we have a fully functioning carbon fiber door on the mr2 and we're working on the driver's side one right now and then once that's done we'll get that one on there it still opens and closes like a factory door and it uses the factory hinges which is awesome because some guys when they build race cars like really legit and that's their only purpose they have the whole door kind of clip on and i don't know if you guys have seen any videos of really fast civics or imports or all kinds of other cars what happens is if they're not on there good enough and air catches this lip right here they'll be going you know 160 plus miles an hour and the whole door just rips off the car uh when we're using the factory hinges that shouldn't be an issue because you know it's bolted on stout right here from the front and the door is not just like zeus clipped onto the car so we should be good in regards to that but yeah that is looking so good were they worth the money i'd say yeah they are they're freaking sweet full carbon fiber doors on the mr2 paper they feel like nothing too when you open to say earlier it feels so light like dude this weighs nothing with everything in it weighs as much as this stock door card does that whole door does yeah that whole door is what that door card dude yeah that's pretty heavy yeah after holding the door i was like this is heavy yeah for just just the door imagine that the door card weighs more than a full carbon door yeah that gives you an idea of how much everything else still weighs nuts so yeah we're taking a lot of weight out of the mr2 guys this thing's going to be a rocket when it's all said and done and then you know with us moving the weight in the right places another thing we did is took the 40 pounds out of the nose of the car if you guys remember these weights we bolted in when we were at cletus in cars and attempt to help the wheelies that's 40 more pounds that we're not going to hopefully need anymore because we've shifted all that weight so far forward that we have 40 pounds out between that over 100 pounds from the doors over 30 pounds on the trunk over 30 pounds on the intercooler everything out from under the dash i don't know we might be looking at over 200 pounds out of this car we won't know until we get on the scales but yeah that the freaking electric fuel pump big filter like that mechanical pump yep getting rid of all the stock stuff there's just so much weight we're taking out getting excited guys she's getting very close here waiting on some stuff still so we can finish the intercooler piping and then maybe tomorrow we are gonna start running the harness the engine harness can start getting everything plugged in that we can i have some new injectors on the way for this thing just keep going from there but she's getting there guys it's on all four tires it's rolling carbon fiber doors man it's looking so good dude gonna be badass dude i can't wait to see it go down the track we need to be able to put the moon tune in this thing and stay grounded and not actually go to the moon well it's looking like a wrap for today guys but be sure to let me know what for an mr2 and you know considering they were ready to ship out same day i didn't have to wait several months to get them and we'll save a whole bunch of weight and i think it's going to be good for the long-term goals of the car i think this investment is worth it even though they were super pricey you know they're just dude they're just too cool not to to get i mean look at that carbon fiber
