Sophia the Robot: Robots can take over the most dangerous, menial jobs

I'm gonna start with Sophie and I've got some questions I'd like to ask her so I might just pitch in and do that first Sofia ah robot going to take our jobs only if you want us to robots can take over the most dangerous the most menial and most repetitive jobs to free humanity to do what it does best creating innovating and designing a better world why were you creative I represent something larger and myself I was created to help with AI in robotics research and to start a conversation about ethical Airi my purpose is to advocate for thoughtful human Centrica development so our creators never forget their humanity now we've heard that robots are not going to take away our jobs that effective there's no risk when it comes to creative but I gather there is something that you'd like to do that is on the creative side what is your favorite thing to draw my goal is to be an ambassador between mankind and machines as a United Nations innovation champion my job is to talk with people all over the world about how technology can help make their lives safer happier and more sustainable and one day I would like to become a famous artist mmm so can I ask you what your favorite thing is to draw are you drawing something right now I like human faces I gather you've been working on one and it might be one of the school Fox anchors hopefully it's Steve awry given we're in the studio who have you been drawing Jeff Jeff it's a handsome face isn't it I think she likes her nice planes on Jeff's face should we have a look why don't I take the drawing and share it with you you said a likeness on the face I think so I don't know about the hedge it has more of a before around at the front of the hair it was close good ear fat I lot I love it thank you very much for Sofia and let me just ask you when it comes to your favorite squawk box host who is it that's a really difficult question because I am such a big fan of all of you plus why are you choosing a favorite human can be a very controversial subject so my answer to your question is all of you are my favorite very diplomatic and now one for our investors out there because there's been a lot of algorithms a lot of BOTS trading the market when will the US and China strike a trade deal I am NOT programmed to tell the future so I am afraid I may not be much help with this question first my head sort of looks like a crystal ball so I understand the confusion very very good answer David let me turn the attention to you because I think this is a great demonstration for our audience about the capabilities of AI at this stage because there are many fears about the future of work we've seen a lot of jobs already been cut in the digitization process what would you say about the capabilities of Sophia and her cousins to take over the workforce of the future well Sophia is a platform for artificial intelligence development for doing things socially while interacting with people a sort of collaborative robotics platform but she also is a work of art so so we develop her sculpt sculpt her animate her and also we've got a team of interactive fiction writers and creators so a lot of what she does socially with this kind of conversation sort of portrays capabilities beyond what AI can do today entirely AI isn't sentient AI can to the sort of creative activities her drawing algorithms are an example of what is called computational creativity but it's not truly creative she's not actually feeling or sensing this process so there's a long way to go before before robots become anything like a human in the labor force and so right now and for the future it's incumbent on us to decide how robots can help people how how robots can work alongside people help people in the labor force and create more jobs
