[Music] hello everybody i'm chantal from south africa san francisco john from america and this is the youtube pagodas youtube channels today we're going to do something fun again we i mean we do something fun every week every week exactly many times a week because we're fun people we're just fun people we are each going to mention and briefly play a part of a song songs that we think either represent a bit of the country or is really famous or yeah it's just an awesome song curious about yours very curious he has a lot of options oh god there's so many people i mean you guys too i feel south africa doesn't have as many famous famous bands or anything we've got johnny clay which is super famous in south africa he was abroad you don't know who yeah yeah good old johnny i just said that i need new youtube partners getting rid of these too okay uh so i actually did have a lot of options while doing a little bit of research on who was most popular i realized a lot of the bands that were most popular from the us were actually swedish or british but actually the songs that were from american artists were also written by swedish producers and songwriters so i was like pretty much america's famous songs are all from sweden or all from swedish people so basically what i tried to pick is a song that americans either have adopted as their own or a song which we feel like is truly truly american i have two the the national anthem is it born in the usa i thought about it [Music] you are correct one is the anthem and the reason i'm not going to play the anthem the reason is one of my two songs is because i think america's national anthem might be the best in the world the music the lyrics goodbye guys it was nice what i picked was a dead meme it's a it's a dead meme song okay so this was memed back oh my gosh probably 15 10 15 years ago i you probably do you could probably finish the lyrics it's uh where do you come from where do you go where do you come from comment first part of that song and whoever's american will finish it it's from a swedish band called rednecks no way but i would have to say that is probably an extremely american song and the songs that he mentioned like sweet home alabama and other ones please get ready for hate comments because i refused to pick any country song i don't like country music so please keep typing your hate comments to me i will absorb all the hate comments this time because yeah because i cut out country music i feel like i cut out a lot of like american songs all right have you picked yet have you picked um i wanted to pick one but you did it dude this was so hard okay typically everybody knows queen queen the beatles i don't want to pick them because they're just so typical everybody knows that yeah so i wanted to kind of go back to a bit of british roots um a lot of punk came from england and i know it spread it was big in japan as well yeah um and it kind of spread to through other countries one of the punk bands called yay and their song london is calling london yeah it's super famous so they used to advertisements a lot too yeah exactly so there's so many like really really good british songs that they use for yeah like advertisements or in in england for the premier league a lot of typical yeah really iconic british songs i think um one second do you notice something it's very famous oh yeah of course uh bittersweet symphony yeah yeah 19 early 2000s it was the year 2000 exactly i wanted to pick this song as well the verb bittersweet sympathy [Music] but of course nowadays you have well you had one direction mm-hmm sorry and spice girls you should have chosen oh my god why did i not choose spice girls but that's the problem is both of us have just so much to pick from it's british with punk and the pop us with rock music usually and then south africa with okay before i start talking about i'm going to play it for you guys quickly okay just a brief background now you maybe you've heard it maybe you've seen the video i i kind of wanted to bring it up because the president actually said he wants south africans to dance because this song had a very famous dance um the song came first and then a very famous dance followed was it the macarena um it went viral the dance moves and there are so many videos of people doing the same dance nobody starts singing yes oh this is chill music oh yeah and then to the side and back but in any case so the song is actually a gospel song oh yeah yeah um the name is jerusalem and the the the guy who actually made it is um master kg yeah master cage is there like an apprentice [Laughter] land blind dance i don't know what it's called line dancing no i suppose it could be part of lion dancing and there's so many europeans who've also like filmed it and uploaded and then like millions of views and everything it's you know even though it's a gospel song uh people just it's such a nice vibey song yeah basically and yes so jerusalem obviously it's jerusalem yeah and um the first line that basically it says it's in zulu by the way oh interesting yeah and then it says take me back take me home take me to jerusalem basically and i'm sure many people would disagree it's okay we all have our own opinions on music yeah and we know there's there's so many bands and songs we could have picked like we know i know and we know you are all going to be commenting what band we should have picked yes we know i know we'll read them i'm going to go one direction so yeah so this is my song it's such a fun song so whenever
