hello today we're doing the first sentence challenge courtesy of this commenter and we're playing by your rules that means we're doing the first sentence you know this game right we're going to read the first sentence of a book the other person has to guess it they might not know and then but we're not going to show the book that way the commenters can play along oh okay okay so we each have six books cuz I told him to get five and he got six so or seven or something you may remember last time that we did this if you watched last time that I probably won and did really awesome and you know was just like you know everybody last time you were quizzing me I wasn't quizzing you there was no winning there was only losing I still probably did very well so let's get it on so you guys can play along we have six books each 12 books total tell us your score at the end okay you want to go first yeah I guess so you just close your eyes is that how that works do it baby all right all right let's see what kind of goodies I got here what I was 12 the first time I saw my dead father cross from the kitchen Doorway to the hall that led back to the utility room the interior the mapping the interior hey you did a good job that's a very distinct book you know I thought that you know so here's the thing there were several books I picked up and I'm like oh this is interesting and the first line is the title of the book so I'm like okay cool I can't use that or the first line is like the main character in the book well you can say the blank walked across the room I guess I could have but you know still was okay cool you got you scored so with mine I ordered them intentionally so that the first one is the easiest and it's going to progressively get harder okay and I have done that's how I did mine for five out of the six books they are books that I know you've read and then one I'm actually not sure sweet oh that's good that's very considerate of you because I'm at a disadvantage cuz I don't read all this stuff I went through a period of time where I was really into storm to Sanderson and Scott Lynch but then after that oh go ahead oh shouldn't look Ash fell from the sky okay well that's obviously Miss born the very first book which is called um oh crap yeah you're darn right it's mbor oh the final Empire right of course he got it yeah it's been a long time told you I started off easy your turn go okay one and one okay here we go this is going to be good got a good oh our daughter got a hold of this at at one point evidently I bet I know what it is dang it did you have wrath okay well that sounds like um The Girl Who Fell Bene ay is that what that's called yes is she was a sacrifice she had well actually she volunteered oh that's that book yeah yeah yeah they were going to throw another woman into the sea but she volunteered because she it was it was her brother's I remember you talking about that book in one of the Vlogs on the swing I loved this book on the in Stormlight a thunder class I think it is so that's um so this is going to be this is the first line of a book well shoot it can't be Words of Radiance it's got to be the third one oathbringer oathbringer wait words of the way of Kings Way of Kings this is the first prologue oh I didn't realize you were going to do prologs well ashell from the sky is a prologue is it I didn't know that I was doing from chapter one well you can do what you want did mapping the interior a thunder class wouldn't have been in the chapter one of of of that it would be the first prolog but it could have been the prologue yes that's true I get a half point for that one I have declared incorrect all right your turn if you're going to do prologue I'll just do the you do the last one see the uh the words desperately L hoping to sell him the the lamora boy yeah that's lies of L lamora that was that was a lot easier than I thought it's been years I should have pre-read that for a second it's been years since I've listened to the Audi book distinct it is but I like I can hear when you said a word what was the word paral landro pandro yes the Temple of paralandra probably as well word that word is not something I've heard it's not something I've heard since reading that book except for every listening to because I talk about this book so not pandro that's a that's a very but as soon as you said that word I was like oo I can hear his narration in my head go get more books well let's do this one first oh ready yeah this one you'll like pausing to collect himself Constantine the 11th pushed away the pile of City defense maps in front of him pulled his purple robe Tighter and weighted I don't have any idea I don't have a clue I don't know I give up a death is in why would you pick the last book because I didn't want to put the first book cuz it's obvious dad gone yeah I should have known well looks like you failed all right I could have swore I got more than only four books did you take one out seven no like six in here I thought that's bad did you take one out don't look I got my eyes closed this book is is largely concerned with blank and from its Pages a reader may discover much of their character and a little of their history ah uh this is The Hobbit do you want to try one more guess um of Hobbits it's the book that Bilbo wrote is it but I don't know the title is it is it concerning Hobbits on on Hobbits about Hobbits this is this is not the Hobbit oh is this uh the simarillion no oh is this just the first line of Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring yay huh I didn't realize the Fellowship of the Ring started off with that line yeah I thought I thought start in the sh well I know that but I didn't realize huh yeah I guess it's true you do saw in the Shire you have to go get two it just sounded like it sounded like that's the one book that I wasn't sure if you had ever attempted to read have you ever tried Lord of the Rings uh I don't know no I've never tried to read Lord of the Rings I've just watched the movies I figured it would still be familiar enough I've just watched the movies yeah all right go get two more books I loved Fellowship of the Ring I watched fellowship with the ring like back when I was in Middle School and High School like that's I had the extended uh like the the big box set DVD collection where you could watch all the director's commentary and you have like the all the behind the scenes stuff and I loved literally everyone has done that so what I'm going to say about this one is that you are going to love the first line of this book but you're also not going to get it okay but you could get it I mean like it's not out of the it's it's it's a good one just I don't think you're going to get it but you're going to love it with all that Preamble yeah for real here it is I guess that on the first try nothing could compete with the experience experience of dangling from the rigging tens of feet in the air fresh sea a in your face while looking across an infinite plane of shimmering blue water blue water oh okay so it's not I was thinking maybe Trust of the emerald SE uh dangling from the rigging that sounds that's a line you should love I do love I Absol that's an incredible opening line I'm immediately intrigued and would like to read that book it's not um Skyward is it no you me give you one little hint yeah you are on the right path so it is trust no but you're you're you know in you know you're you're thinking on the right you're right author yeah right author ah so right author and no I mean what's funny is as soon as you said that I was like that sounds like a Sanderson opener yeah um the pros is very Sanderson I think so I can hear Michael Kramer delivering that line I would have rather him just say uh dozens of feet instead of tens I thought that was that that that actually Jarred me a little bit too um I mean even if tens of feet would have been slightly more accurate just say dozens if it's a hard you could have 24 ft and it be dozens as opposed to 20 ft and it be T what come on just say dozens it is Dawn Shard da Shard everyone I okay yeah you're right I wouldn't have guessed that two blank I want to apologize that's the first line that's sad I'll give you a second line though first line is I want to apologize for everything I am going to do over the next 18 or so years I'm sorry for everything I'm about to do over the next 18 or so years I don't know that doesn't sound familiar at all okay I'll I'll fill in the blank I'll actually read the true first line oh okay to my son I want to apologize for everything I'm going to do over the next 18 oh that's things I wish my son knew about the world a things my son needs to know about the world right byck bman yeah that one I've not even read that yes you have no I haven't oh I just had you read certain sections of it yeah no I I refused to read that book you cried over the sections I made you read I'm not going to read that I threw it too all right so oh last one last one the story so far oh man I should have read this I know I felt the same way when I did lies of luck lamora it's okay lies of Lu lamora was a gimme fine the story so far in the beginning the universe was created this has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move heers Guide to the Galaxy that's a brilliant opening line it's such a good opening line wow right yeah no keep reading actually the whole first page oh honey I got it wrong oh no it's restaurant at the end of the lane at the end of the universe which is restaurant at the ocean at the end of the lane no that's that's Neil G this is book two I got it wrong I guessed Hitchhiker's Guide to the G oh yeah I didn't even I just picked this and thought it was hitchers well then you don't have to read the rest of the page cuz I don't actually remember how that one starts it's a good one anyway this has been fun oh that's such a that like that's such a good opening oh I was going to tell you something and I'll tell it to you after this okay yeah it's a secret secret Secrets all right last one oh I've got one more have you been keeping track of points no I always just win so we just you know it's what we do actually think I'm winning I don't think so I've gotten everyone right they hav except for uh what was the one no I've got I got them all right you didn't get wave Kings no I still got that right I got a half point for that one you didn't though no I did you didn't though okay well did I get a half point for Restaurant at the End of the Universe yeah I wouldn't argue that no it's no I don't get a point for that and you don't a point for the you're not wrong either no okay go ahead go ahead the sunrise with the was the color of Bad Blood uh Taylor you know what you also don't get a point for things my son needs to know about the world I read you three lines yeah but that's not that's not fair cuz I haven't read it you that that was that was okay that was really impressive to get that from that opening line I would disagree I think that's a very distinct open Line I've never read that I think you have and yet I was able to pull that title out judges from my memory let us know that was impressive Close Your Eyes the sunrise was the color of Bad Blood tat Swift The Bad Blood song it leaked out of the East and stained the dark sky red marked the scraps of cloud with stolen gold Joe abomi best serf cold did I get it you cheat no way you hav't even finished this book you only read the beginning of it I read the beginning of that audio book year like two or three years ago yeah you cheat it's been there was something about I don't know there's something about what you just described to me picturing that I just it seemed like it would be an abomi thing I don't know that was that was legitimate I I did not see that oh the others you cheated but that no but I'm just saying because as is my tendency I come on come on here and really impress oh and so how it goes I'm going to stop inviting you I'm do this with one of my friends next time yeah this so good go it's not my okay so in conclusion we've don't you have one more no that was I got went got I went gotten two oh we're done I went got I won got two I don't think so that who had the more impressive performance you some of those were kind of freebies I I admit but some of them were kind of freebies and you've read a total of like 10 books on my bookshelves so the picket are slim I just got best served cold that was that was incredible I feel like I had some impressive ones too that was incred in I got they're going to Hype you cuz they always hype you despite how good I do they always more impressive when I come on here not being a reader and just do the thing and get it all I even got The Hobbit you didn't though but you but they understand what they they get it though you didn't you just reminded me that you didn't even get that point I had to walk through you Guess The Hobbit you guess the S marilan yeah I know I got I got it I knew it was Lord of the Rings didn't I just you know just you know I don't know I got to get dinner okay oh let's do this let's end this video how many points did you get I got I think hold on let's let's tally I did not get this false I me true I think I got this because I landed on Annihilation did not get this I did get this yep and I did get this and I feel like I feel like these two were pretty solid but you didn't get darn darn sh Dar Shard you didn't get Dar Shard okay you didn't get this you did get this I did I technically did get that you didn't what I was able to gather from that though was very good I did a good job I got that go on go on okay you did get this yep of course you didn't get this technically I I got half a i no cuz I didn't count restaurant at the end of the the univers I knew Thunder classman it was storm breaker sto war war storm light you got this these two were both easy okay you got this and this one was that was impressive and you also impressive I took three lines that doesn't that doesn't matter oh it's on the back too look oh yeah you're right nice um that's that's still impressive I think I'm just impressive you didn't even guess way of Kings at all at any point in the video I had to tell you no I I knew it was storm light that's not good enough getting the series is not getting the book it's in the ball park which is not the game it is how many points did you get thanks for watching yeah
