Solo Wild Camp Ruined at Raven's Crag - Etiquette of Wild Camping, Does It Exist?

hello my name is ant and you're watching survive the night and in this episode we're back out in the late district and we're in a brand new spot Ravens cry what a stunning place the evening I uh it wasn't it wasn't good I'm going to have a bit of a mo here so we said uh are we all are we all right you know we all right pitching here so I was honest and I said L I've come here for a bit of peace and quiet to be honest with you Lads and they went oh they were arguing amongst ourselves as well which was really annoying and getting me W up but my point is the etiquette of wild camping the other guys around the top there they had a fire why would you want a fire on Mountain I near swore then I'm uh a little bit concerned I think I pitched way too close to the edge here I am not going to lie this is a SLO it really is and I've kind of on as you're set off you can see right over there is the car cuz the road is shut over the dam so you've got to kind of make it on foot and uh doesn't help we take a the wrong turn but luckily luckily I've got OS map with me it's a talking map believe it or not and it literally draws the root out for you and you can download this app by going to MCM outdoors and uh basically tapping up Chris for his telephone number and ringing him when you get stuck then the app kicks in and basically it writes the route out for you it's an amazing tool the ever ascending steps to Mount Doom if you want a quicky divorce get your ring you get to the top plop it in won't cost you a penny me I'm quite happily married cuz my wife lets me do this so I'm all right how beautiful is [Music] that oh wow oh my word I've literally got it all to myself there's nobody here oh my gosh well that is me made it Raven's crck we just need a raven now wow unbelievable stunning absolutely stunning thr here camps on that island down there Canoe Camp with Charlie wow H Valen in the clouds uh climb that with Charlie and Nathan well at the moment there is rock all to see I'm uh a little bit concerned I think I've pitched way too close to the edge here for my liking um especially for somebody who doesn't like heights if is literally the and it is a drop so uh yeah I think I made a a a slight um a bad decision to put it that way so I won't be spending much time out of the tent I don't think I will be anyway cuz the rain has properly come in out and the clag is here so you can't see much down the uh thermal Valley there but uh yeah we're in and we're dry I've got my waterproof legs on so as you can see my f is stuck out there which is all good it's not a problem and uh yeah that's pretty much it I'm going to make a brew I think and hopefully try to feel better about this it's amazing mistake that I've I've done as you can hear it is absolutely battering it down [Applause] so there is only one thing for it Brew get a brew [Applause] on I'm not going to line either that temperature has dropped it's not meant to be freezing tonight and thankfully there's not much wind so um we should be in for a peaceful now ni but this Rim it carries on um I mean I'm GED I've come up here for for the views but you can't always go and seee them can [Applause] you [Applause] [Applause] spe s been joined as you can hear over that way by another two guys the main pitch and then we've got some more visitors up with the top there so yeah might be a fun night that smells amazing absolutely amazing never had these before I'm not used to this kind of food it's really hot let's try the past it this is going to be fun like piping oh that's good meat ball hot really well down there is a massive drop but you can't tell fingers crossed for the morning it's got to it's got to clear I managed to get the Drone up and uh do a spotter footage so hopefully that turned out all right because if it's like this tomorrow morning which it's forecast missed so I'm not holding out much hope but I did managed to get some views and uh yeah it make it worthwhile at least but I think this now is in for the night o for for morning everybody look at that view eh that's better that's a lot better than last night night sleep didn't go too bad it wasn't too bad uh the evening I uh it wasn't it wasn't good I'm going to have a bit of a morning so Ravens Craig there's very limited amount of pitches um but there are pitches here it's not just one pitch so I get set up don't I all nice and Bonny that's fine that's brilliant and then around about our four another lot come and they kind of go around the Craig and away from me I can still see them but you know at least they're a away anyway around about 8:00 Half 8 9:00 I is talking at the back of my tent now I'm just relaxing and chilling out and uh I thought oh it's a couple of them from over there it wasn't it was another two Lads they set up right at the side of me and like I said it's not a massive place but there is room to pitch if you look round and it wasn't going that day that you couldn't see around yourself so uh I got a little bit fed up so I come out and and uh had a bit of a walk Round said all right to her and um only a couple of young Lads but they said uh are we all are we all right you know we all right pitching here so I was honest and I said look I've come here for a bit of peace and quiet to be honest with you Lads and they went oh right uh okay and that was it you know I should have said said L there are other pitches they'd already pitched the temp by then they were arguing amongst the themselves as well which was really annoying and getting me warmed up so uh yeah it kind of spoils it but my point is the etia of wild camping is that you should be able to pitch your tent if you've got that spot you should be able to pitch your tent without the worry of having somebody right next door you I mean literally right next door to you so you could hear every word and I couldn't film which you know I come out here to that's my way of relaxing as well as the wild Camp is filming and uh yeah I filmed but I couldn't speak so that really annoyed me and uh yeah it just it just spoiled the overall relaxation of a wild camping uh um process you know what I mean so uh yeah my point being is that if anybody's watching this and they're new to Wild camping then if somebody's pitched up somewhere you the etiquette is to be well away from them preferably out of sight and just stay stay clean cuz it's it's their time you know it's you've come up here to relax you don't want h so you maybe don't want conversation you just want relaxation and a bit of peace and quiet and that spelled it for me the other guys were around the top there they had a fire why would you want a fire on a mountain I nearly swore then that really annoys me yeah fair enough I go out into woodlands and I have fires and things like that I would not have a fire on top of a crck overlooking the late District there's no need for it they cut jet biles they've got they've got stoves cook on the it wasn't a freezing cold night I don't get it Beggar's belief to be honest with you but I tell you what I've had a proper M I know I don't often do that but that really annoyed me anyway back to the [Music] views [Music] well that is it end of another wild Camp first wild Camp of a two-day event so we're off now to meet Matt and uh also now Martin so we're going to hook up in a nearby town and we're going to have another night we're having a night in the uh in Leon's tent the Nordisk so yeah that's in the car waiting for me all nice and dry so we're going to get that out and uh and
