SO... YOU CANT FIND 5.56 AMMO - NOW WHAT?

hey guys 22 plinkster here this is a 556. and today's market that was about six dollars of ammunition 556 is almost impossible to find but i'm going to show you guys a way today to shoot for much less and still have fun on the range 556-223 is almost impossible to find right now now there is a conversion kit out there and it's been out there for a long time made by cmmg and what this conversion kit will allow you to do is basically turn your 556 rifle into a 22 long rifle now i'm not going to go over any of the accuracy testing on this setup whatsoever about seven maybe eight years ago i did a video on the accuracy on the cmmg now this is a savage msr rifle chambered in 556 and the conversion kit's pretty simple this is what it looks like simply take the old bolt out put the new bolt in close her down lock her up and you're good to go when doing the accuracy test on the cmmg conversion kit several years ago i was able to shoot half inch groups at 50 yards and that's definitely a minute of squirrel at 50 yards no problem now cmmg has actually improved their conversion kit when the first generation that i owned it shot it shot pretty good but it was kind of finicky with ammunition i'm going to show today since they have remedied that problem several years ago their conversion kit is much more reliable than that of the past we're going to do a lot of shooting today got loaded up some cci mini mags here got a can on it and let's just do some shooting all right that was 25 rounds yes these are proprietary 25 round magazines put out by cmmg and you may notice there's an orange follower in there with the magazine that does lock the bolt back on the very last shot so when you take the magazine out it automatically closes the bolt and grab another magazine here all right let's go across the creek [Applause] 100 yards not a problem all right here we go last shot the bolt holds open all right let's have a little bit more fun before we actually talk about a very practical reason to own this conversion kit i got loaded up here 25 rounds of some tiny mountain tracers all right let's go across the creek 100 yards those things curve out of this gun it looks pretty cool all right we are out in the boat held open why the 22lr conversion kit for your 556. well there are millions of new gun owners uh in 2020. a lot of people bought their very first ar-15 and they can't find 556 ammunition and they still want to train because they're new shooters now the 22 long rifle right now you can still find it i was looking online and you can find the 22lr bulk pack for probably about eight to nine cents around at this point in time of me making this video but usually 22lr is probably about four to five cents around so therefore you can shoot much cheaper than that of a five five six and you can use the same ar that you use for home defense or you know uh your your match your competitions or anything like that just get some good reputation you know you've got everything exactly the same you've got your optics the same which you're going to have to change a little bit your point of aim will change from a 22 long rifle to the 556 but it just takes a couple shots to get on paper and you should be good to go but you can shoot much cheaper this day and age with a 22lr than you can with the 556. another good benefit of this conversion kit is if you're getting people into shooting whether they're young shooters or if they're new shooters you can put this particular rifle in their hand and put a suppressor on it or not even put a suppressor on and it's less intimidating so you can get a lot of people into the shooting sport there are many different kinds of ammunition on the market when pertaining to the 22lr got the cci mini mags in here we'll shoot these up and then i have some cci subsonics and we'll see if this rifle will cycle some subsonics all right 25 rounds of mini mags no problemo if you're familiar with my channel you know that the 40 grain round nose mini mag is kind of the staple of testing a 22 long rifle out to see the reliability on it now i've got some cci subsonics these should be much more better quieter cycled subsonics just fine i told you we're gonna do a lot of shooting in the video now i've got the good old bulk ammo this is federal 40 grain auto match and when usually people train with the 22lr they buy cheap bulk ammo so let's just see if this runs [Applause] where is it there we go shoot a little high whoa it wasn't getting away from me [Applause] wow all right got another mag here [Applause] all right she'll run one other thing that we need to talk about cmmg just recently came out with this end cap so basically what you can do if you have an ar pistol is take off buffer tube and put on this little end cap and what that'll allow you to do is have a little tight package just like this right here and an ar15 platform at that point you can put the 22lr conversion kit in there
