So About Aruba

time is 9:30 so please be back on board before 9:30 well there's the announcement it's Aruba day and it's a long Aruba day we just made port in Aruba it's 9:00 a.m. it's I think it's day five of the cruise and we are here from 9:00 a.m. till 9:30 p.m. and I'm almost ready to go just doing some last minute charging of the batteries got my cabin kind of straightened up ready to be cleaned my first bag of laundry of the crew Cruise man you know I say try every Cruise Line and worry about the Loyalty later but there are some loyalty perks that are awesome and on this cruise I think I can get laundry three or four times uh because I'm Platinum for free so I've got about I don't know Four Shorts four shirts underwears all that stuff in there so pretty cool I have applied my sunscreen and really the only thing left to do is pack that small bag probably grab some breakfast and then go explore the port of Aruba I don't really have a a big plan there's a couple places I want to go but no short Excursion so uh yeah hopefully I can get it all done in 12 hours but uh come with me if you will to [Music] Aruba all right let's make our way to the buff deck n deck nine the mermaid's Grill everything has a great name on this Cruise pop right out into the omelet station see what they got it's a bacon day here a bacon day pretty good looking spread here's a peak peanut butter and muffin it's bacon day you can't pass out upon that course uh cantaloupe cheese and meat little water breakfast is served here's a view of Aruba looks like this is where you go through the port so should be interesting to see what we see this Hotel over here pretty cool all right so breakfast is complete and we are off the cruise ship now in Aruba again uh okay I got a little task list uh three things I want to do I need to get coffee cuz I haven't had any iced coffee in a couple days I need soda for my empty fridge and uh I hear there might be Lego on the island so those are the three big goals in this and then the side goal side quest is just to see what's within 15 or 20 minutes of the cruise port so uh here we go Le get some souvenir shop in the terminal pretty cool oh now we even got some food in the terminal sabaro and [Music] Quiznos coffee shop right there have good Dives [Music] quick look at the ship here people loading up for more excursions now interestingly I heard the guy say there is like five casinos here in Aruba and I believe there's some within walking distance so if you're someone who likes to test the fates and you want to try it off the ship looks like you can do it in Aruba also I love these buses oh we got a Bonus we got a another cruise ship little cruise ship spotting here in Aruba look at that we've got the NCL Sky Norwegian Sky let's take a closer look NCL sky and of course we're on the Carnival Pride Carnival Pride you have a little bit of a offerings for tours and stuff so you can get tours right outside the gate uh but yeah a lot of lot of options lot of options and then right outside the gate it looks like we've got another little kind of market area shops lots of stuff it's like kind of any kind of souvenir you want to get into I feel like I should upgrade my hat with a bigger brim or something I don't know there's hat options kind of like that Hi how are you Paradise oh yeah beautiful just stumbled across this free trolley I don't know where it goes but we're about to find out is this is this SE taking no all right it is now good nice and Shady how's everybody doing Shady good all right beautiful day in curacel right no wa this isn't C AR aruba aruba I'm kidding 15 minute stuff we're going to see the downtown the main street of Aruba and me is a shopping area the shopping area we go feel free to disembark if you want of this this is pretty fantastic it's a free trolley right next to the Cru five stops 45 minute Loop and takes you all around the downtown part of orange so yeah this is unbe this is the downtown capital of Aruba calling stop we have two Museum in town the Historical Museum and the archeological museum for those who just join us the street car is a free transport to the main street and back to the for up and down up and down back and for the whole day small and back to the the for that's the the spa and that's it is a free service it is a free service stream C no lot Ming for the so the trolley is super cool again 45 minute Loop kind of takes you down to the shopping areas you can get to the mall and it's uh completely free so I didn't even know about it uh the that was that was great great way to get around there's a diamonds International right here at the cruise port or close get a free souvenir from carable pretty common for a cruise port but it's right here on the Main Street of course Aruba was colonized at one point by the Dutch I'm not 100% sure on the history but definitely a Dutch influence here you notice that in a lot of the colored buildings there was something that happened in the history of the Netherlands where one of the Kings or something wanted everything painted in colors instead of just white I I think the story I remember hearing is that he owned part of the painting company or something but I I don't remember but yeah definitely a Dutch influence here in Aruba there's all kinds of shopping here jewelry watches and then of course the straw Market type stuff no lack of shopping here in Aruba here we got the padd this is uh one of the more famous restaurants on the waterfront down here and then you've got the one of those Atlantis submarines you can go underwater in the Crystal Blue Water here it's interesting I've always wanted to try try that across the street mixed in with the high-end shop you've got the Wind Creek Casino Crystal Casino another cool looking place right here on the water called Lucy it says that Lucy is a retired Surfer Bar and restaurant so yeah maybe after people hung up their boards they opened a spot nice shaded very nice so I just came over the walking bridge just down from the first Casino you still have the cruise ship probably only about a mile walk to get to maybe not even that far to get to the cruise terminal and then you have another casino here the seaport Casino then you have the little shopping area which has a has a Starbucks haven't been able to get my iced coffee on the cruise ship at least not the same way I like it so uh yeah I'm making a trip to feed the addiction it's a double addiction Day first one coffee but uh yeah on our way so here's the marketplace it's another set of shops they actually have a movie theater there couple restaurants I haven't gone deep here before I'll I'll go down the middle see what they have look at this app absolute Legend Flamingo statue oh that's going to make a cool looking shot with the cruise ship wow that is that may be the best frame ever for a cruise ship that is so cool look at me and the flamingos and the crw ship lots of cool stuff here check out this uh red phone box still has a phone in it and there we go we got the Starbucks here at the marketplace I'm going to make a loop around the marketplace and then come back for coffee never gambled that like a casino offsite like this or at the Cru Port I didn't really bring cash with me to do that so I'll skip it but does look like they have some decently I mean Le they look nice the casinos so I've seen some casinos at Cruise ports that look a little questionable these at least look uh they look decent looks like in the middle of the marketplace they have some bars and restaurants this is the 5:00 somewhere Bar and Grill I don't think it's open yet maybe it doesn't open till oh look at this now the now you really can have a tough choice there's a Duncan on the inside here Duncan this arcade opens at noon looks like there's people in there but how about that a Dunkin Donuts right next to Starbucks scandalous scandalous scandalous wow look at the Starbucks just a few doors down let's go see what movies are playing with such a long day I guess it is an option but uh yeah let's see what movies they're playing box office nobody's in there so who knows what time of these movies might even start we got Ghostbusters and Godzilla versus Kong Civil War Arthur the king H there's several on my like to see list see if I can figure out what time these movies are starting maybe I can figure it out in the Bucks oh yeah [Music] finally worth the Walk of course uh no Cruise day is complete without spending some time with the lovely Jenny B even if we have to do it virtually through wingspan but uh wish me luck see if I can take her [Music] down all right here we [Music] go tie there I'm the blue Jenny is the [Music] pink here comes the final scores [Music] it's very close oh I pulled ah head a little bit there oh here she comes though oh I pulled it out in the end I got lucky finally my losing streak is over Jenny's been beating me every game on this Cruise maybe it's the combo of Starbucks and being in the Caribbean but uh yeah the something simple to keep us connected just a game you know over the internet but uh always thinking of the lovely Jenny B so uh love that Starbucks free Wi-Fi no public restroom though but there is a public restroom here in the middle and looks like the 5:00 somewhere bar is open so let's take a look at that nice 5:00 somewhere and the arcade looks like it's starting to happen now too air hockey claw machine video games to stop the Quest for the restroom check the spot out designs of Color Wow beautiful stuff couldn't find the public restrooms and I really could use the public restroom but uh yeah you got to take a left at the 5:00 somewhere bar and they're supposed to be around the corner here here we go this is exactly how I feel holy moly much better much much better I look at this uh big mural so much beautiful stuff here the hummingbird and the box office still looks closed so uh I'm guessing no movie today onto the onto the next item I suppose all right so I guess if we're keeping up with the task get coffee is done got a check mark there but uh about a mile away from the next stop so you got to walk back over the bridge past the cruise port to our next destination but of course there's uh there's our ride the Carnival Pride and all of her glory not to be confused with Carnival Glory but um yeah what a great ship it's been so far nice little collection of boats all different sizes here of course the Natasha kind of caught my eye you can uh rent this boat out for fishing and pleasure which I would say fishing probably is pleasure so I don't know what the and pleasure is but uh yeah back at the submarine place I'm so curious about this um looks like they already got a crowd though and the I think the sunscreen's getting its job done I don't know the sun is uh pretty warm out here so that's the challenge being fair skinned in the Caribbean make sure you sunscreen it up so we're closing back in on the cruise port going this way but I noticed there's another set of shops this way so uh this is the main road this is the side road so let's go see what we can see definitely a walkable Port can get some steps in and see a lot of stuff if you want to shop or eat no shortages of that another cool little boat area waffy Rancho yeah so this is literally literally around the corner don't you love when people use the word literally literally around the corner from the cruise ship across the street here I like that looks like this kind of brings us into a bit of a parking lot bit of a parking lot I got to go back up there for the main stuff but here's another one more look at the funnel of the pride she's billowing smoke no short power here in Aruba art Boulevard we have the back of diamonds International I got the Main Street up here again this is a pretty close to the cruise port the Aruba Cigar Company so for all of you stogy offici can come get your smoke on while you're out of port and we're back back on the main strip pretty close to where the trolley was we're getting there there's a blue trolley right now blue or red which one do you prefer blue one looks cool check this out this is another spot that people like to get to at different Cruise ports so that's the area that you come walking through off of the cruise ship but then right uh across from that is the Harley-Davidson in Aruba where you can go get your branded shirts that say Harley-Davidson or Ruba right there next to the cruise ship all right so I'm just past the main Cruise terminal at least for carnival still at about 6 miles to where I want to go but I'm very excited to what I see in front of me um we keep walking the sun's killing me it's so it's blaring but trying to find shade where I can and not get too toasted and worn out by the heat so two things that are exciting of course the I love Aruba sign which is awesome and then uh we have a sit go which will probably help with the soda task that we have and then across the way all kinds of little shopping I think I need to cross over there to get to where I'm going but first let's see if I can get a picture in front of the I love Aruba sign there we go are we doing it are we doing it all right cross the street we go all right I think our destination's about a half a mile this way it's a at least it's a nice straight walk on a sidewalk so all kinds of shops everywhere birken stock Sushi and Cocktails and another coffee shop so uh plenty of options I moved from That Sidewalk to this sidewalk little less traffic walking straight it's a little deceptive how far have I been I'm at about 8,000 steps since I left the ship so we're getting it in oh wait what is this another cruise ship of course we've seen it already it's the Norwegian Sky but uh good to see look I know it's a major thorough fair but could we get a bench I think I still got a quarter of a mile to go a bench wait is that a Oasis maybe I'll stop up here something looks familiar a few International companies uh Domino's Subway like I said I spotted this Wendy's might be time for a soda this caught my eye what is this G department store H I thought it might have been geeky stuff but looks like it's swimwear and such hey what's up buddy yeah it's like swimwear all right interesting all right let's dip into this Wendy's for a little bit of a little bit of a break it's a hot one today this is nice power yeah and a lot of AC all right going to hydrate a little bit and then uh finish the last 2 t0 of a mile walk to the destination okay that Wendy's was uh exactly the Oasis that I needed I'm fairly hydrated cooled off and now I'm ready to finish the journey but I think no I think there was going to be a detour but it looks like this place is closed I couldn't figure out why the traffic was so backed up but it's for the Wendy's drive-thru everybody's got to get them Dave's Burgers was it Dave single I don't know what the burgers are at Wendy's but busy drive-thru here's the sign that caught my eye towel toys let's go check out this toy store okay this this isn't promising the under the toy sign it says building for sale H but it looks like there's lights on in there let's go check it out yeah looks like it's open okay let's see if we can find any Lego in here wow this is a nice bright and open toy store very cool all right we bought Lego at this toy store this wasn't even the toy store I was trying to get to to feed my addiction uh so on to the next one and while the hoofing continues I can see it I can see it getting excited top one toys I'm pretty sure this place has Lego so uh yeah top one toys let's check it out successful trip number two look if you want to see what I got you got to go over to the Lego Channel Loca bricks I'll leave a link for that at the end of this Vlog but uh yeah I can't wait to go through these Lego oh the ship it seems so close it seems so close it's not it's not close the journey wow the sidewalks look e there's a coffee shop around here I could just make it to the coffee shop oh coffee table there you are let's get some local coffee all right a little local coffee man I love the vibe of this place look at that little ice latte for the win all right coffee table much like Wendy's a lifesaver so close to making it back now uh one more item on the checklist though we got coffee twice we got Lego twice uh we still need soda yeah soda let's check the gas prices 2669 per liter somebody's going to have to do the math on that one and then diesel 230 per liter all right let's see if we can find some sodas I don't see any cases of soda looks just like 2 lers but do have cans over here so maybe I'll just grab a bunch of cans to take back on the ship all right so they didn't have a case of sodas but I did get four sodas for six bucks which is cheaper than what I've been paying on the cruise ship I've been paying 450 a can on the cruise ship so uh couple days worth I guess four cans we'll look again tomorrow and Cura out so close so close this is a popular spot the I love a rubba son and just like that I tell you what it's nice when there's a when you have a long day in you don't really feel stressed you can explore a little bit I think it's only like 3:00 so we still have like six more hours um but that was a perfect day for me I think I've got off around 9:30 just a few more steps back to the ship here's another quick look at the shops inside the cruise terminal clothing and souvenirs hats so yeah if you don't want to go far you can just pop out and do some get some postcards a lot of stuff here oh thank you Carnival Pride for giving me choices there's a gang way to the AFT but there's also one forward which is where my cabin is that's that's much nice oh yeah nice and cool home sweet home have new towel animal today bag of Lego to go through sodas for the fridge 10,176 steps for the big man uh it does the body good I tell you what I'm hot I'm tired I'm a little bit hungry I got to price check these Lego and uh and finish up the video for the Lego channel so if you want to see if I overpaid or how much I paid or what I
