hey what's up everybody I'm Robert Arrington this is deer meat for dinner and welcome to our camp today I'm gonna take a deer's front shoulder and turn it into a delicious meal this is the best way to get your pit barrel or your charcoal going just take some paper towels put it down in the bottom of the chimney this thing has holes in the bottom so it causes air flow put your paper in there put your now just take your lighter that paper will start to burn and it will light the coals from the bottom up so easy so fast so while our coals get going this meat has been brining that's the front shoulder off of it here it's been brining in that cooler for the past seven days I've had ice on it as the ice slowly melts I'll add a little bit and Weis crazy thing about the ingles is the ice doesn't melt that fast this front shoulder looks beautiful and front shoulders are probably the least utilized piece of meat on an animal on a deer everyone just thinks they're junk and they will grind them up well I'm here to tell y'all without the front shoulders on a deer are amazing just cook them whole just do what I'm doing right now so there you have it when you take a little oil like this just just laughing it up this oil will help all your seasoning stick use your hands get in there good to go all you need a little bucket for a garbage can and you're in the action take some salt [Music] just result it all up [Music] take some Everglades cactus dust [Music] and then my favorite on like this is black pepper I wish I would have had some fresh like a pepper mill but I don't now that looks like a ton of seasoning but the way we cook this and weigh all the meat will be incorporated it's gonna come out perfect so as you can see our charcoal is nice and red hot in the center and what we'll do is we will just gently pour these columns [Music] so now here is the magic of the pit barrel this is your vent that's where the air comes in comes in and circles around and when you put the lid out the heat will come out of these top holes and it literally will wrap around your meat and cook in a 360-degree direction I've had this thing for several months now and I love it now for this recipe I want those coals to get as hot as possible and I'm gonna show you a little trick that will make that happen a blower and we just sped that process up by half an hour looking at my pit barrel I'm not sure if my front shoulder yeah it won't see how it's bigger so what I'll do is I'll cut this shank off I'll just joint the shank and to do that cut right into the middle cut right into the back and then this that's the shank that's the shoulder I want that to be as hot as possible underneath and I want it to sear the outside while this cooks I want to let everyone know if you want to see the video of the hunt I was with a little girl named Reagan Lightsey out at Lee's property just go to the description below there'll be a link to an unlisted video you can watch it and enjoy it shows the whole hunt followed by the skinning process I think you'll find it nice so now let's see what what a meat looks like we're just trying to sear it Oh nice and hot we're just trying to sear that outside okay so once our meat is seared on the outside we'll set it in a pan and don't drop it in the don't drop it set it on a pan like that see it's got a dull side and a shiny side want the shiny side down sit right in there gotta have your lid put your lid on so now we've restricted the airflow you're only gonna get about half the airflow here but we closed it off up top and all your smoke and heat will gently come out the top and it'll create a convection of absolute love now gotta run to a shop pick up a couple muzzleloaders because I'm taking Dylan Jordan and Cameron up to Maryland all right y'all so we just got back from Bass Pro picked up a bipod to see v8 muzzleloaders and just a bunch of stuff because this weekend I'm taking Dylan Cameron and Jordan up to the young guns Hunt Club in Maryland with Bill Crutchfield it's gonna be amazing so if you guys are around bell alton or the la plata area in maryland we're gonna be there on Saturday November the 11th it's gonna be amazing this is one of the most prestigious awesome youth hunting events anywhere in America and I'm so honored to be there so we're gonna get these guns all sighted in and I think I'm gonna do a whole video on how to get these guns just totally rock-solid so we can shoot them out to a couple hundred yards but over here our foods cook let's the house burn now I can tell you right now it smells amazing perfect look at that ladies and gentlemen this just will just pull right apart money I'm just gonna cut off some of this meat all right so there is our main shoulder bone that's that big shoulder blade paddle bone if you hit it with a bow and arrow really hard to get penetration and there's our shank I could get more meat off of that but I love my dogs so I'm going to leave them some meat on the bone then we can just take this you don't have to do this because the next step all this meat will become just so incredibly tender look at all that that's just fantastic I love mushrooms so we're gonna just add one of those these are some these are white mushrooms these are baby Bella's baby portobellos put that like that onion [Music] these are honey gold baby potatoes and we'll just put them in there just like that then we've got some big fat garlic cloves we can put like that and we'll take a little of our cactus dust just to give it the nice mesquite flavor some kosher salt and black pepper now let's see if we can get this puppy in there and I see lit up really nice with a couple layers I want it to be locked tight now it's gonna start to steam and we'll see you in about one more hour we'll let it cook for one more hour maybe an hour and a half we should be awesome this is going to be so good in Mar Mar Remy and Tebow are gonna be in love with these bones alright y'all what a day it has been we've been out shooting muzzleloader we went to Bass Pro just messing around which is why this pit barrel is so nice once you shut that baffle it'll keep this from getting too hot underneath watch this and you can leave it so once you open it up you can leave it on the cooker get you out Oh get you some of this meat hold with all them mushrooms loving goodness look at how beautiful that is cooked right here in the front porch [Music] very hot [Music] but absolutely 100% dee-licious tinder I don't want y'all to think I'm lying to you it just pulls apart I was at Publix earlier today getting groceries and I saw these tortillas I didn't even think about making a deer meat tortilla but seems the opportunity is here why would I not do that throw a little so I just throw all this loving goodness in there luckily we're out here on the ranch if yeah it's kind of moist out right there it's camp food deer hunting this year you and your friends do it do it however you want I guarantee it'll be good mmm ma'am well hope you enjoyed that it's pretty simple all we did was take up a deer shoulder sear it off under high heat do it in that pan let it cook for a few hours on low heat you know maybe 250 then we added our onions and potatoes and mushrooms covered up let it cook for another hour hour and a half now we got the love potion mmm now that's a great way to take a piece of the deer that most people just grind up and turn it into I mean that would be the life of a party right there you make that 15 people are eating good hey we'll give we'll give Grammy the biggest one Remmy oh I see pretty sit pretty not only did we have an awesome meal the dogs are enjoying their bones that's what it's all about y'all life is good thanks so much for being a part of the channel this was really a great day love you forgot [Music]
