Hi friends, welcome to my sketchbook tour featuring my cat who - I don't know what she's doing. Are you gonna settle down now? Okay. Now she's crouched in my life. You might just hear her purring in the background, So this will be pseudo ASMR stuff. Hi. Hello. Welcome! Today we're gonna be doing a sketchbook tour, my first sketch book tour ever, which is very exciting. First things first, I'm gonna casually slide my tea over here to cover the stain on my dining table. That way you're gonna have to look at it. So yeah, this is my first sketch book tour. I'm very excited. Oh, Sophie is leaving now. What do you want to do baby girl? Okay. She's on the ground again now. Sketchbook tour! I'm gonna talk about all the deets of this sketchbook. It's a moleskine art sketchbook. It's five and a half by eight and a half inches. It is really great quality. These run about, I think $19.95 You get what you pay for though, IMO, I love it a lot and also this takes place from October 2017 to - Oh my god. She's in my cabinets. Hang on. Sophie! Good girl. No, you can't go in there. There are so many sharp things! Hunny Bun. The joys of - the joys of being a mother but yes. Hello! [laughs] This takes place from October 2017 to January 2019. I think I finished it maybe last week because it takes me a long time to finish sketchbooks and I rarely ever finish sketchbooks because I'm the type of person where I will just keep buying sketchbooks because I get excited so I got myself a new Moleskine sketchbook But I told myself that since I was so close to finishing this one I couldn't start in that other one until I finished this So I finished this one and I'm excited to walk you through it. We're just gonna take this journey together, make sure you've got your cup of tea and maybe some biscuits or cookies or whatever you want. I'm in a bit of a - [Laughs] It's a gray dreary day here in Seattle. I'm in a bit of a sort of weird cheery mood. I've basically just been playing a lot of Stardew Valley and [laughs] I'm almost at eight hearts with Penny and I'm very excited because I'm gonna ask her to marry me. So, but that's neither here nor there. I digress! sketchbook Tour! Let's go! So this sticker on the front, this window sticker is from an artist named Allissa Chan @fomyths on Twitter and on Instagram Her work is so beautiful, and she was having a sale in her shop where she was getting rid of a bunch of inventory so I bought these window stickers which I'm pretty sure she DIY'd because It seems like she sort of just printed them on sticky paper and then laminated them herself Which I thought was - and she cut them out herself too. Then this is a label maker thing. So that's all that is. We open it up here. This is a stay brilliant sticker from my shop. This was a freebie a little while back. This is a DIY vinyl sticker that I made and then my little random floral stickers that I had lying around. I could not tell you where I got those from. The first page, I wrote October 2017 just so I could remember when it was. I didn't write that at the time of drawing this but I went back and was like I think this was when I started! So I could keep track. This is a little cover up because I didn't like what I drew so I covered it up with some watercolor paper I think I was just starting to experiment with Copic markers and I was using a prismacolor col-erase pencil. Here, I started experimenting with sort of lettering styles, I had also just started listening to the adventure zone. so I was trying to see if I could draw takko and Merle because I think this was maybe - when I first started Adventure Zone was maybe the time where I was like, I want to give character design a tiny go. So yeah, and then also - oh, yeah This isn't supposed to be there because I accidentally drew with Copic on the back of the page and Copics bleed through because they're alcohol-based. So that was a dumb move. This is a line from Richard Seiken poem and Again, another excuse to practice florals and lettering. These are actually months apart. I did this one way later. This was my first time properly working with and experimenting with my Copic markers. This was actually offered up as a print on my shop, When I first opened and then I went back a month later and drew this because I wanted to start practicing scenes, full compositions. So I think I actually want to go back and try my hand and remake this again, but in gouache. My mother loves fairies and I used to write about and draw a lot of fairies when I was younger. I was thinking about her when I drew this piece. So I'm thinking about maybe rendering that in full with gouache and stuff. Then as you see Copics play through so I was just staying on this side. More lettering practice. Again, here's Merle. I actually really really like this rendition of Merle. I like the way I drew his hands I think that I might actually revisit this. I'm very happy with this. I also like how I used to draw triangles for noses. It was very fun and a very easy way to add character to people. These were little witch stickers that I first - That were also in my shop when I first opened. In this sketchbook in particular, when my first round of stickers on my shop. Basically before I got my ipad, some of my stickers were drawn digitally on my wacom, but Also, I didn't like how her eyes turned out and didn't like how she turned out so I just redrew her on the next page. Here's another - This was also offered as a print for a short while in my shop, but it did not do very well. So I took it down. When I first started my shop, a lot of my stickers were drawn traditionally just because I didn't really like working on my Wacom but now that my iPad, pretty much all of my stickers are drawn on my iPad. Shout-out to the iPad pro for changing my life! Experimenting with, again, more lettering. Also trying to draw cats and not doing so well. This day I actually went to the park and took my Copics with me and I was trying to do sort of a landscape study, just to kind of get used to the shapes of the trees and things and I was particularly inspired by Ira Ville because she's an incredible landscape artist. Her work is so good. Yeah, so again these were all stickers in my greenery sheet that I had which is still a great sticker sheet and I definitely want to sort of revamp that in the new year. This is still one of my favorite pieces of greenery that I've ever drawn. It's so cute and cartoony. I love it so much. This was my little winter freebie. One of my sweater gals. More sweater girls. I really like her. I want that sweater. Lots of girls holding - holding mugs. I would also write down just because I drew everything so randomly. I would also use these for my patreon printables. Check out my patreon by the way, plug plug plug. So I would write down to see which ones I wanted to keep on my sticker sheets and which one I wanted to offer in my printable. I would write down a little S or a P next to them that I would then just edit out in Photoshop after I scanned it/ Experimenting a little bit with brush pens. I had a real loan with my Copics and that was mainly just because Fran was using Copics and Fran is - Was and still is one of my biggest inspirations so I was like I want to do what she does. So I did. This is for my holiday stuff. As you can see I didn't use my sketchbook pages very well, which I regret because I wasted a lot of great real estate in this sketchbook. It is what it is. We live and we learn. Lots of greenery. I think the method that I found that I liked is that I would sketch it in and red Prismacolor pencil, Go in and color it with Copics and then go in and get afterwards. It took me a little bit of time to get used to how the Copics spread after drawing with them, So it was a lot of trial and error. My roses this was also when I first started trying to layer over Copics. So I would layer a peach and then a yellow and see how that turned out. This is my favorite green, I don't know which one it is, but it's my favorite. Oh, yeah, I was trying out the red Prismacolor or the purple Prismacolor The red one is still definitely my favorite. Travis McElroy, Griffin and Justin. I was watching a lot of Louis Zong Animatic, So I was doing my hand at trying to draw the good-good boys! Also just trying to draw dudes, 'Cause I'm so bad at drawing dudes. I like how this one turned out though. He's cute I was sketching out potential Christmas labels, which didn't turn into anything. Again Travis! My sweet, sweet boy. Uh, I love Travis so much. He's such a -they're just - they're all so good. They're just such good lads. This was what I used for my first little You're Rad insert card in my shop orders. Also I'm drawing Wirt. This was referenced basically when I was first starting to do more profiles and I was struggling with them a lot. So I referenced this from another artist that I found on Pinterest. I'll do that sometimes. It's obviously work that I never publish or really share anywhere and if I do share I tagged and credit the artist, of course, but sometimes if I'm having a lot of trouble with a particular subject like maybe profiles or greenery, I will reference another artist to try and get the feel of how the - get this sense of the brushstrokes in my hand or the pen strokes my hand if that makes sense. Wirt and Greg! Man, now I just want to watch Over the Garden Wall again. I love Over the Garden Wall. This is unfortunate because the colored pencil from this transferred over onto this page but this was a printable that I did for my patreon. One of my tiers also used to include exclusive art pieces. Then I found out that that was a little bit too much for me to keep up with because I just opened my shop and stuff, so I was managing that but I did draw a cute little Christmas witch. Then this I drew for another printable later! Waste of a page, waste of a page. I was writing down some stuff about shadows. I don't know what that was. Sketching out a thank you card. Mushrooms, I really like how I used to draw mushrooms. I mean, I kind of go back to that. I was taking notes from the wolves. I don't - I try not to do that. I try to carry other notebooks, but I did not have anything else to write stuff in so I just wrote my stage notes in here. We hate Neil! I was like, is that a reference to the foxhole court? No, it's a reference to the character in the show. And then, Oh soccer notes man. I miss that play. That play was life-changing. I was also trying to figure out how I was drawing hands. I still don't really know what to do with hands. More wolves notes. This was an OOTD essentially. I do not like this at all, but I have to, again create a printable on very short notice for patreon and That's one of the main reasons why I sort of took that off one of my tiers is just because it felt weird to kind of force myself to make and share stuff that I maybe wasn't super happy with and so I realized that I was like, you know what this isn't helpful for me and it's also not helpful for my patreons So I took that off. I don't like this at all. I would actually love to try this again, I just don't like doing your face turned out and it's just - it's weird. However this side of the page, I love a lot. I really like - I was experimenting a lot with black ink and doing textures with just ink and I love how they all turned out. She was also a freebie in some of my orders as well. Playing around with colored pencils. Trying to sort of color like Leigh Ellexson. I love her use of color and her compositions and she's a huge inspo. I was trying to do a visual art journal thing because I was at a really frustrated point in the in the rehearsal process because there's always over part in the rehearsal process of a show where you get like "Wah!" So I was trying to combat - journal about that, but it turned out sort of weird. This is a.... This was a sketchbook challenge that I did or this was a drawing challenge or an art along it was called with Matt Cummings on Twitter and so it was my first time ever attempting something like this and I was quite happy with how it turned out. I learned a lot which was very great. Trying to draw a cat sort of things trying out a different nose style again Leigh Ellexson inspired. I drew this little growth thing. I don't know what this was for I think this was for some sort of art challenge or something. This was when I went to Discovery Park with a friend and I sat and I drew the landscape in the distance and then a piece of driftwood that I saw and these cute little birds that run really fast in the sand and the water These, yes!! This is from when me and Connor went to Vancouver! This was all on the train to Vancouver just because the landscapes were so pretty. So, I drew these with my - I drew these with my Sakura micron pens which are waterproof and then I was able to go back in and just - So that I was able to go in and scribble in color with my little travel watercolor thing that I have. This was so fun and also really great to look back on. This is the type of art journaling that I love. I figured out so it's just mostly just drawing a bunch of than tiny little anecdotes. The Park at sunset. There was a super cool mural. We went to this coffee shop and I was trying to use it as a way to draw likenesses of folks and then we went to the Stanley Park and so I drew some stuff from around there. Then we went to a really cool coffee shop and then we went to another coffee shop later in the day. Nelson the Seagull I don't know if any of y'all are in Vancouver, but that is my favorite coffee shop that I've maybe ever been to in my entire life and I want to go back so bad. just for that coffee shop. This was an OOTD from a woman that I saw and it was just like such a cool outfit. There was also this really cool lady sitting across the way. I feel this was very helpful actually and I feel like it's been a long time since I've just gone somewhere, just people watch and draw what I saw and I forget how useful it was and I want to actually do this again. Very pretty lady in a yellow dress. This sweet girl was actually sitting a couple tables down from us, and she messaged me on Instagram later and she was like, hey, I'm the girl in the green shirt that you were drawing, I wanted to say hi but you seemed really sort of involved and I didn't want to disturb you which I thought was wild! The world is so small and then Connor got a book with a really cool title called Metamagical Themas. So I wrote that because it's just a long title. This was August 3rd 2018. I'm glad I wrote that down so I can kind of see what's happening. This was when I was at a coffee shop, I was trying to plan out a drawing. I don't like how this turned out. So it never really came into anything. Lots of scribbling here, I don't know what that jackets from, but it's from something. Oh, yeah, this was um, I think I was thinking about stuff for Inktober already. Or maybe that was just the thought I had and then I transferred it for Inktober. I want to make this again but in a full painting because it's a haunted house. Roxas, my sweet boy. This is the Prince of Darkness as a gentleman. He has a reason and he cannot beg and I have no idea what that is referencing. I wish I did. Oh! Again, I drew Roxas. Roxas will always be a skater boy in my heart. I drew Dodie, sweet Dodie. I tried to draw Dodie at least and then I basically just went through @Jerianie's Instagram page Then I went through my friends Instagram pages and just drew them because they're very drawable. This was also really fun. I find that if you don't know what to draw, just going on Instagram and finding stuff. Oh, I'm really happy with how this cat turned out. I can't remember if I reference this from another artist or if I just drew that. If I just drew that that's a very cute cat! I feel like I might have referenced it from someone. I don't know. This was me practicing for a prompt that I was doing for Inktober as well. More sketches, more practicing. This is from when I saw Dan and Phil live! Wooo! I had a panic attack after my meet and greet which had nothing to do with them. I was just dealing with something. I don't know what it was. I think it was 'cause I forgot to take my meds that day. That wasn't a cool moment but you know what it is what it is. Scribbling and I had them sign it and then I was writing down quotes from the show and stuff. Yeah. So here we go. I just needed to change my shutter speed a bit 'cause it was kind of getting weird and washed out and I don't know why that was happening. So here's more planning for the wedding stuff and more sketches. This is referenced from an artist named Alexa... I can't remember her last name, but I'll make sure to put her @ on the screen. We're almost at the end now. This was a piece that I was thinking of doing, where it's a girl looking back over her shoulder. That really didn't come to anything. Again, just me wasting a lot of real estate in this very nice sketchbook that I should not have wasted and then this random chick The time between this and this was a good four or five months and then this I drew last week! So I tried my hand at Takko again. I can't figure out what I want his outfit to be. I was trying a couple different draw this in your style prompts. Experimenting with a little different body language stuff. This is Effie who's a new character of mine, whom I love very very much. yeah, so just drawing doodling. Travis McElroy again, my boy! More scribbles, just trying out different things. Again, trying to figure out Effie. I really like this drawing but her face needed to be a little bit rounder and smaller, but I think it was so cute. I like how it turned out a lot. I like the - I don't know what it is, but I just really like it. I think it's 'cause I like how I drew her hair. This is also based off a picture from Instagram I find when they don't know what the drive just go on Instagram and I sketch people very helpful. Then here's the last page! This is a little doodle that I did of Effie and then me - or her name is Ethel. but she's Effie for short and then I tried to figure out - I wrote down a list of potential traits for her. Sketched out a piece that I turned into a full piece and I don't even think I have anything in here, do I? Nope, so that's that. that's the whole kit and boodle! Yay! My first finished sketchbook, which I'm frankly very excited about and I learned a lot and it was very useful. Now I'm gonna make sure that I properly use up all my sketchbook pages. I actually - Please hold. So it's out with the old and in with the new! Thank you October 2017 to January 2019. Once I finished this one, I want to make sure to put the date on the little label thing on it. Yeah, by the way, this is a sticker that you can get in my shop. I think it might almost be sold out cheyennebarton.com. Check it out if you want. Plug plug plug. Then this one - These are some stickers from Jordan Clark do pardon me. Yeah, this is all I've drawn in this one so far which is just some sketches of houses when I want to walk. A walk around my neighborhood. So I'm gonna color these and ink these in probably with watercolor. Also figure out how to fill in the rest of the page but yeah, so that's my newbie. This is my oldie. That's all I got for you today. So thanks so much for joining me on this grey dreary Seattle afternoon. I don't know what it looks like where you are. I hope it's good. I hope it's a good one Whatever it is wherever you are. I hope it's grand. I love you very much. I hope 2019 is treating you well thus far I will talk to you soon. So yeah. Bye! Have a good one. Stay brilliant. Oh my god. I almost forgot it. Stay brilliant. Bye! [Music[
