to all the world in my generation one more time for those in the back message to all the world in my generation amen so for today i will be carrying you all on a journey i will be your guide for today and our journey is called the journey of unrestlessness can someone repeat that for me what's the journey we're going on today [Music] yes the journey of unrestlessness so through this journey we'll be encountering some hardships but we should have no fear because the lord will guide us through and pathfinders we also have another reason why we should not fear today's journey and that is because our motto says for the love of christ compels us and because of that we will have no fear for today's journey now can any one of my lovely pathfinders tell me what we need before we start this tumultuous journey well you guessed correctly that prayer is won but firstly we need to sing songs of faith and praises we need songs that will boost our faith and that will sing praises unto god so that we will be guided through this journey of unrestlessness so i will now turn over to one of our master guide sister beverly mitchell who will carry us through our songs of faith and praises [Music] happy sabbath indeed church before we start our song service we are going to pray so let us get in the attitude of prayer [Music] let us pray father in heaven and our god indeed we are thankful that you have kept us through this week and that we have the opportunity to worship in your house today i pray o lord that as we sing songs of praises unto your name let us tune our voices and let us sing only to your name honor and glory for christ's sake amen our first song we will sing is hymn number 383 or day of rest and gladness 383 [Music] and gladness all day of joy and light beautiful singing do you feel better prepared for the journey pathfinders i can't hear you do you feel better prepared for the journey yes and brethren of course i can't forget you are you all feeling prepared for the journey i just hear one breathing let's do that again are you prepared for the journey yes we are yes that sounds so much better but we seem to have come across a stumbling block on the journey hold on let's see what it says it says here roadblock of doubt how we all ever encountered the roadblock of doubt i'm pretty sure we all have had those moments those roadblocks of doubt indeed so pathfinders what do we do when we encounter the roadblock of a doubt we pray indeed but we also do something else and according to our pledge our pathfinder pledge which says by the grace of god i will be pure and kind and true i will keep the pathfinder's law i will be a servant of god and a friend to man notice the last two lines which says be a servant of god and a friend to man you know how we become our servant of god and friend to man brethren we study our scriptures we learn our scriptures so that we become servants of god and in turn become friend to man so we can share with them the word of god and to show us how we read our bibles and become servants of god is fellow pathfinder sister avon allen who will do the scripture reading for us this morning the scripture reading is taken from jonah 4 verse 8 11. jonah 4 verse 8 to 11. i will read in your hearing and it happened when the sun arose that god prepared a vehement east wind and the sun beat on jonah's head so that he grew faint then he which dead for himself and said it is better for me to die than to live then god said to jonah is it read for you to be angry about the plant and he said it is read for me to be angry even unto death but the lord said you have had pity on the plan for which you have not labored nor made it grow which came up in a night and perished in a night and should i not pity nineveh that great city in which are more than 120 000 persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left and much less their livestock this is the word of the lord [Music] thank you so much sister allen so now that we have had the scripture reading we will continue with our journey but it looks like we have entered another stumble in our journey brethren and it is it looks like a fork in the road actually and it's called the fork of indecision you know when we're at a fork in the road we can't decide where to turn where to go and we feel quite burdened with these indecisions but you know brethren when we are at this fork of indecisions in the road in our journeys we have to remember one thing and that is we need prayer the prayer will be the only thing that will help us to overcome these indecisions and so because of that i will ask sister hope isaacs to lead us with the opening prayer so we can indeed overcome all our indecisions we face in life [Music] let us pray dear god thank you for waking us up this morning thank you for giving us this blessed hope your son jesus christ we're here once again to glorify your name and to give you praises for all you have done please guide us through this sub at school help us to educate your people in the right way your way thank you for all you have done in jesus name i pray amen amen amen thank you sister isaacs now we're winding down on our journey brethren and for this morning we so far we've learned how to use the past finder ideas can anyone remember them we learned they the aim we learned the motto and we learned the pledge and we used all of these so far to help us to progress on this journey of restlessness so brethren aren't you wondering how other pathfinders other church brethren are doing on the other side of the world i'm pretty sure we're all curious so at this time we will have our mission report so that we can know what is happening with our brethren all over the world jesus called his followers to care for the foreigner and refugee living among us adventists all over the world are doing just that anise is a seventh-day adventist living just outside washington dc he grew up in the country of jordan and spends time each year in medical mission there since living in the united states he decided that a single trip each year was simply not enough he took action to seek out refugee communities in his area to help meet their needs we used to go out and deliver food supplies to a refugee center in gettysburg maryland but we never got a chance to meet those families anisse realized that in order to have a larger impact he needed to get to know these families face to face the personal interaction is very important because here as refugees from a foreign country they have no relatives or families you know so this has become a personal touch with them and to build the relationships and build the bridges they have become our friends and one of the syrian refugee children was telling her mother mom i like it when the church come and visit us anisse and others have combined community relationship and service in a christ-like way they visit the many apartment homes of the refugee families and bring them items that the families may need this has been a great way to show these families that the adventist community truly cares about them this has become part of my ministry with we gather food supplies and cleaning supplies as needed and we deliver to our friends who have come from a foreign land we bring you know rice olive oil cooking oil lentils laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies this work has helped many refugee families feel more comfortable but just like jesus ministry here on earth aneesa's mission is to build genuine connections the primary focus of our relationship is to be their friends and also during the pandemic we have kept that personal touch even if we haven't come to see them i constantly on the phone talking to them every week just to see how they are be of encouragement to them and that has meant a lot to me personally anis and many others are continuing to embrace the calling of jesus to love and care for their neighbors who are foreigners and refugees please pray for anis and his friends to continue finding ways to serve these vulnerable communities and find even more ways to show jesus love amen so we just heard from our brethren from across the world with the mission report now have you all been enjoying this journey so far even though it's a journey of restlessness we have had our ups and downs right church so we need a refresher at this time to help us with this restlessness right so how can we refresh ourselves anyone knows how we can refresh ourselves well if you are thinking we need to refresh ourselves by singing i have some very smart people with me this morning the la the second to last line of the pathfinder's law says we must keep a song in our hearts and sister zena bartley will show us just how exactly we will do that with this special song [Music] it's hard to take the first step when i don't know the way each turn is so uncertain i learned to walk by faith but you gave me a promise that you will never live you will and guide me lord i do believe lead me lord i will follow leave me lord i will go you have called me i will let you leave me lord i will go [Music] your plans for me are perfect i never need to fear for those times i feel alone i know that you are near my heart just knows to follow i'm willing to my hand and lead me i'll follow all the way lead me lord i will follow leave me lord i will go you [Music] leave me lord i will go [Music] [Applause] [Music] i will me lord i will go you have called me i will leave me lord i will go you have called [Music] leave me lord i will go [Music] amen i'm pretty sure we were all refreshed with that song just as our sub theme for sabbah school says lead me lord i will go now we have arrived at the climax of our journey it is now the time where we review the lessons on how we can overcome restlessness sort of a lesson review if you will so as the last line of our pathfinder's law says go on god's errands master guide alicia allen will go on god's errands and carry us through this week's lesson thank you sisters you know pathfinder zeno good morning good morning good morning everyone happy sabbath happy sabbath to those of you on youtube facebook and those in the sanctuary as zena sing the song a while ago lead me lord and i will follow lead me lord i will go we will discover that in the lesson that we did this week jonah was not singing that song do you realize at church do you realize that was he singing that song no i don't think so let us pray before we go into the lesson review our father in heaven we pause to give your thanks for this another sabbath day of rest we thank you for your goodness we thank you for your grace lord and your mercy you have brought us to your temple to worship and to listen to your words as we come to review the lesson i pray law that the lessons that we would have learned today we would have been changed may we apply the lessons from jonah to our lives and may we all god come out as new vessels be with us maybe those on the different platforms and those of us in the sanctuary and your holy spirit now lord be our teacher we ask these another mentioned mercies with the forgiveness of our sins in jesus name and for christ's sake we pray amen now the lesson this week as we have been told earlier is a restless prophet how can a prophet a man of god be restless and as i look at the word restless what comes to mind when you hear the word restless anyone in the audience restless what comes to mind all right those of you on facebook might be saying where is it like what unsettled not sure unstable yes what else agitated there is no peace no peace for you can't sleep and all no what do we know about jonah and i need your help in the audience what do we know about jonah he was a what he was a prophet right the bible says that the word of the lord came to jonah was he a true prophet yes he was he was a man of god he had been working for god all this time i know god had a mission a mission for jonah and we know that even in the new testament reference was made to jonah right yes so he was well known a very interesting story and i'm just looking at the memory verse it says and should i not pity nineveh the great city in which are more than 120 000 persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left and much livestock 120 000 people that's quite a lot and god is saying here that these people needs his pity all of us need the pity that god has and i pause to note that he did not only mention the people but god also cares for all of his creation he mentioned the livestock the animals so we should be we should care for the animals around us don't kick them here there and everywhere don't you think so yes i believe so no this in the introduction he says that this is an example of someone not at rest not at peace even to the point where what did jonah cry out he wanted to what he wanted to die whoa that must be terrible what could have gone so wrong why jonah wanted to die instead of doing god's work let us go further into sunday where it's entitled running away now why would jonah want to run away from a task brother bartley what is it that god could have asked we know what god asked him to do what did god ask him to do he asked him to do what to go to where nineveh and warn the people that they should do what repent just a simple message is that something too hard to do just to go over and say hello god is asking you to repent or is there something else behind the scene brother bartley even today it is very hard to reprimand people or to install people into righteousness if we look at him there there's the kobelt you have to be careful all you talk to some persons regards to being protected of themselves so jonah had antidotes work to do down in that country where sin was rampant down there and he was afraid maybe he thought he would be killed or exercised or something like that okay defending themselves by running away by running away thank you for sharing but the word the work was still there yes but question to the class those of you on youtube can we run away from god no we cannot right because god is everywhere in psalm 139 it reminds us that even if we go to the depth of the sea god is there he's in the darkness he's everywhere seeing all that we do and i'm sure jonah must have known this but because of something that has been bugging him he was blind at this point so god said go to the east and he went to the west he went the opposite direction but as we look further in the lesson we will see where the ninevites were so to speak in my terms jonah's enemies they were wicked people very cruel and they had done a lot of bad things to his nation is the people of his nation so to speak and jonah was carrying this hatred in his heart right have you ever experienced something where you don't want someone to be saved they have done your soul so much bad things that you would rather that they perish and be saved have you yes i'm sure we're human beings and sometimes i'm thinking or even about our children they have done bad things and we say you're not escaping or beating you today number you could have fly high are lower you're going to get a spanking not okay let me know but just to show them that they are wrong so it's the same way jonah was feeling about these people the ninevites right let us run over to any other thoughts under running away in the sanctuary no no joda before i ever run to that the three days rest while jonah was running away a lot of things happened right and i found it interesting that he was in the ship sleeping right and while he was sleeping the others about him were in turmoil was jonah resting in god at that time yes sister bailey why you say he was not resting in god jonas resting or sleeping in the deep was a characteristic of his being unaware of what is happening around him and in kind of a false sense of security as it were right so jonas sleeping is an indication that we can be asleep in the midst of something that is um how should i put it here he was having a task from god to do but he turned away and he went to sleep while around him there was turmoil so while it might look as though he was resting his rest was not that of resting in god this was a kind of false race amen amen it's like sometime we are having some challenges and you're saying see some men smoking our drink can i say why why do you do that don't you know that smoking is bad for you they say boy mommy just take the stress off my head i just forget about all of my problems right so that is why i choose to smoke other might drink drink curry the problem you might be having problems so much that you can't sleep and what do we draw for some sleeping tablets yes we are sleeping so to speak like joan and the but are we really sleeping are we really resting when you wake up in the morning you feel all drowsy and buggy because it was all falls right and in that experience too these men who did not know god what were they doing they were praying to a god that they knew right but nothing happened and they say hello do you know that someone is down in the bottom of this ship see break him up man wake him up mr brother wake up here and say what is happening are you doing here for us i see why why this thing come upon us and in their the knowledge that they knew they were casting loss that's what they know right but through it god pointed out jonah right and jonah tell them confess it is because of who me why all of this is happening i serve the true and living god he had to confess it he had to confess it sister bailey had a point i was just looking at how we can relate that story to our day with the sleeping and meets the chaos that's going on around us no wonder the bible says that it is high time for us to awake out of our sleep because our salvation is nearer than when we first believe so all the things that are going on around us we are seeing signs we are seeing chaos the world is in turmoil as christians are we like jonah sleeping amidst all of this instead of being awake and aware to tell others about why these things are happening what happened these men on the ship didn't know what was happening but jonah knew yes and until he was rudely awakened um to tell them what was happening right and there and then these heathen got to know the true and living god so sometimes we will have to be telling the story inter turbulent time amen what a word very important point sister bailey and you know two these persons they repented immediately they were in awe of this great god they were in awe of this great god but did jonah change at that time no jonah said god i'm still not going i am still not going because he could have said all right got your cast these thumbs you really really really want me to go down to nina so just stop this time and let me go back and i will take another ship and go memory what did he say throw me overboard let me make fish eat me just dash me over there right that was rebellion against god but god is such a merciful god we are running away from him and he's what ruling after us right and he provided a way of escape for jonah i see brother bart he has a bearing this might be a simple question but why was jonah protected while was asleep it was raging why was he protected okay so the question is it was raging and this boat was racking and the water was about to turn over the boat why was jonah protected and my question to that question was it jonah alone who was protected no he was protected and he then who didn't know the true and living god were also protected it goes to show brother bart that god loves us in spite of ourselves he's merciful he's kind he's compassionate and no matter what we do he always wants to give us a second chance and that was what he gave jonah because he had a job for him to do and the job is going to be done at whatever cost it's going to be done at whatever cost that's a point i wanted to make sister alain that god's job for jonah was not yet accomplished amen nineveh must hear and should hear the message the person god chose to do it was jonah right and god was not only as a lesson points out the the salvation of nineveh or it wasn't only nineveh salvation that god was interested in he was also interested in jonah as a salvation right he was interested in jonah's salvation so the message that jonah got to give nineveh was also a message for himself he needed to have repent he needed repentance as much as the ninevites needed repentance amen your run gone we had to tarzan sister billy but he's okay all right yes good point and you know while god provided and something else came in my mind to say to us you know and it is let us not run away from god let us not just face it up because we have to do what we have to do just go ahead and do it he will cushion and help us to do it so why jonah well god provided the whale for jonah to get some rest what happened in the stomach of the whale jonah connected back with god that is now he seen my lord here am i darkness and if you re read the prayer it was all wrapped up in all these seaweeds you must have said god you are in charge i am still alive and i'm in this darkness i don't know where and his mind went back to where the sanctuary the temple what happened in the temple that was where he does what prayed and connected with god there is an intercessor back then jonah live in the days of the sanctuary services where people used to carry sacrifices right and he knew that he has come to himself to know that he has sinned and god i need you and he said something about his vow the vows that he had broken he wants to renew them so here jonah was doing what he was repenting interestingly you know sometimes when we find ourselves in some real belly whatever situation is the wheel belly sickness financial distress children giving problem whatever it is we make some votes to god you know and we said god if you take me out of this i will do this for you but we're running over now to find out if jonah jonah was he meaning what he said are we running over now to mission accomplish go ahead before you jump to that section i just want to point out two that in whatever situation we find ourselves running away from god when we come to our senses we can reconnect with god pray god answers prayer jonah thanked god for listening to his distress jonah was now in distress death was certain if it had not been for god right and he had the confidence that god was listening to him and that god would have delivered so even in his distress jonah recognized the god of mercy he at that point he realized that he needed mercy amen he needed god's grace amen and he called out to god god listened god answered at that point jonah was sincere in calling yesterday god honored his prayer and so we like jonah when we find ourselves in situation when we find ourselves disconnected from god we can reach out to him one of the beautiful things about it that that came out and i think you mentioned it i just want to say it again no problem while we are running away from god god is running after us because his ultimate aim is to save us not to destroy us praise the lord praise the lord god just wants to save me and he also wants to save you everybody no jonah was no in nineveh yes and he was going to deliver the message as he delivered the message did he deliver the message yes he did and what was the response of the universe ninevites they accepted the message without another word and it's not just one person saying you know that what this this prophet is saying is right you know let me have my family do it no it was from the top from the king he recognized that his nation was in trouble and he said hello everybody cyclotron ashes from my palace ride on to the peasant's house not only people but animals what will what animal fasting about an animal fast but it was important that every living creature went on in sackcloth and ashes and did god deliver yes he delivered oh my god church this is so such a strong message for us god is willing to save every body but we have to do what what is the key word the r word church what is the r word shout it out man repent we must repent we must repent and once we repent god will deliver us and you know as i looked at the lesson this week and today in particular tuesday in particular the bro my man is brought back to ii chronicles 7 verse 13 and 14 where god is saying if no rain has fallen our pestilence have overtaken the land whatever situation if we do what if my people who are called by my name will do what humble themselves and pray he will hear from heaven and he will do what he will heal their land these people were there god's people in our eyes no they were heathens and if the heathens can't go down in suck cloth and ashes and god answers what about those who call on his name we would have seen power but as christians i believe we need to exert more of god's power and to ask for this spirit of repentance you see repentance is not automatic in our church facebook viewers repentance is not automatic it is something that we have to pray for because what does the bible tell us it is a gift it is god's goodness that draws us to repentance because sometimes we want to hate our brother our sister our spouse our co-worker our boss and we want bad for them but it is only through god's grace that he allows us to repent it's not anything good that is in me or is in you that leads you to repentance it is the spirit of god yes brother barack i don't know if there is any evidence of jonah's preparation for the task i just want to say to us now that as we prepare for our evangelistic programs the persons who are appointed to really do the do the work the particular work our job do the job in making presentation whether in singing or in present in a world we should be so prepared that when the the jonah experience comes because sometimes we you enter into some places and it is so tough it is so hard based on the situation of the place and we tend to run away want to run away cut sermon shot and do things just to get over the six weeks but when you are prepared and the lord is there with you what we are about will be accomplished if we hold on to his unchanging hands all right thank you brother barkley for sharing that preparation is key but even in this case if we notice you know even though jonah was unwilling the message still went forth right god spirit work through men and when we go out to crusades are you and i going out as the mission this year say i will go if we speak to somebody and they change it is not us but it is who the work of the holy spirit sister did you condemn sister billy the point that i wanted was to come out to was that when jonah went and and he told the people about gardening people repented jonah was not pleased jordan wanted god was to destroy an enemy but god was saying to jonah jonah this is my business and in today's church a lot of us we will invite people to come to christ but is it that we are comfortable when they come hallelujah we should do when we invite people to come to christ we should have the heart and the mind to encourage our brothers and sisters to stay in christ amen we can't be like jonah with witness to the people and we tell them about what god can do and we want them to come but when they come music that we want them to stay so today let us learn from jonah let us learn from god yes to make sure that we look out for our brothers and sisters and we don't want to see our sisters and brothers destroy and go to hell we want to make sure that all our family and loved ones stay in christ beautiful point beautiful point sister diedrich thank you very much sister bailey one of the lessons that i have found here is that is the simplicity of jonah's message yet 40 days and nineveh will be destroyed it wasn't um a long sermon true he didn't get into complexities true 40 days nineveh will be destroyed that was the message that they heard and i believe he might have because you know they would have known that this man is not one of them so he has come with a message from somebody who is higher than him and different from the gods that they knew and yet they were able to embrace the simplicity of this message so sometimes when we go out we don't have to be complicated in our message in the delivery of our message to the world or to those around us we are to invite people to come to jesus to repent and when we have done so and they accept jesus they would have repented of their sins then the complex message can go forth amen thank you so much for those two points you have touched adequately on a wednesday but just that the disciples you know when jesus had gone to was about to visit the samaritans and you know the disciples request that god call jesus called on fire from heaven and burn them up and jesus said no that is not the spirit right so they were exhibiting the spirit of jonah because what god is a god of love god is a god of love and he says he prefers that someone be saved he doesn't rejoice in the death of the wicked but he rather that they come to what repentance right no john 3 16 point it out so nice there are something so nice they forgot what for god so loved the world that he does what he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life and the key word is whosoever you know jonah was behaving like a spoiled child you can't get him way you want to try to play with her you cannot get it you're going jump up and throw them i have a city and when all children behave children and cell phones cry out loud and make nice i want to give it to them then calm down a little bit right i want to take it back away what the oh they believe again the same behavior but as parents i guess the parents we can learn lessons out of jonah's story too you know as parents do we cast them away and discipline in a harsh way no we should exhibit what love and compassion and care sister bailey i want you to look over for us on the two-way street i wanted to elaborate on the two way something street the wednesday go ahead go ahead you said that jonah behaved like a spoiled child yes but i also want to see jonah behaving that like the gospel or salvation is for an exclusive amen yes thank you and that one thank you you are a part of this exclusive club yes then nobody else yes should come in so true god showed jonah that salvation is not exclusive yes salvation is for all people and you pointed out saint john 3 verse 16 right now do we see ourselves and sister diedrich pointed or alluded to it do we see ourselves as today's christian christian in today's world do we see ourselves as being a part of an exclusive club how do we see persons who are not a part of our faith how do we view them do we see them as persons whom god wants to save or we see that salvation is just for us we have to be careful that we do not um exhibit the jonas syndrome of exclusive amen thank you all right okay a two-way street no jonah delivered the message yes god he told god that he would go and do it he delivered the message having delivered the message he was he still was not pleased he figured that his prophecy should come true that nineveh should be destroyed yes because um i guess he might have been looking at what it says about a true prophet so a true prophet when he speaks comes to pass he says comes to pass now if nineveh was not destroyed he would be seen as a false prophet what jonah didn't recognize is that it is not god's will for persons to be destroyed god wants all mankind to be saved amen and what jonah did was to put his pride his arrogance his personality yes his own self yes above what god wanted for the people yes i am going to be disgraced i am not going to be believed i am going to be seen as a false prophet the eye syndrome again i i am going to i am going to be laughed at god you should not do that what you have done is embarrassed me yes you saved these people and you embarrassed me they are seeing me as a false prophet but um jonas again jonah's attitude is like ours in many cases we see god taking care saving other persons and we're saying how god could save that person how this person can come to accept jesus when he or she has such a bad reputation remember nineveh had a bad reputation you know yes it was one of the wickedest cities then and so jonah can't see even and what is amazing sister allen is that god joseph jonah that's it god just saved jonah from certain death and jonah could not see the salvation of nineveh for what it is yes he preferred things above people message so when god made the plans to grow up yes he enjoyed the plants and he was so happy the plant with that animal god what did you do how you could destroy the plant and god is saying how comes you are so annoyed about a plant that has no life a plant that has no soul and these persons 125 000 persons you wanted me to destroy them how can that be so many times we we are seeing things above people we value things more than how we value people this is not god's intention for us all right now jude 21 tells us that we are to keep ourselves in god's love as you wait for the mercy of our lord jesus christ to bring you eternal life now when we experience god's love and grace it is not a one-time event so jonah experienced god's love and god's mercy but it couldn't suffice one time it has to be a continuous thing we have to keep ourselves in god's love and in keeping ourselves in god's love it's how we reach out to others right we must be mindful about the salvation of others as we go about our everyday task let us remember that we are saved to serve amen and that the souls of our brothers our sisters our neighbors our relatives our friends co-workers are important and so we have a job to do we are living in times of of peril the waves around us and people are dying in sin and god is just as interested in saving the heathen saving them as he is in saving us amen thank you thank you so much and what was zone with me on a thursday a two-way street jonah needed to repent as much as the ninevites needed to repent so the message was for himself as well as for others and that is to say to brothers and sisters facebook viewers not because we are in the church we are better than those on the outside right so we are constantly as day by day every morning we are awake and we get the fresh breath of life we are on repentance groaned and we are to examine ourselves and see where we are short with the lord and profoundly what comes out of this two is that we need to love people as god love them and when i see your burning sister when we witness and do god's will then we get our blessings amen amen and i'm over to the summary now and i'm going to read it says in the church given jonah jonah had been entrusted with a heavy responsibility we have been discussing how wicked these people were yet he who had bid him go was able to sustain him when moses said it couldn't go god said i will put words in your mouth right have the prophet obeyed unquestioningly we need to listen to this he would have been spared many bitter trials and experiences and he would have been blessed abundantly yet in the power of jonah's despair the lord didn't desert him the lord didn't leave him alone and through a series of trials and strange providences they profit confidence in god and in his infinite power to save was to be revived let us be faithful my brothers and sisters let us remember that we are jonah don't point the finger at jonah but point the finger at ourselves may god bless you as we continue to be faithful and study god's words and also jonah was not reflecting if jonah was a prophet how how why would he whisper and say i'm not going if he knows that god could hear his whispers i didn't he repeat that if jonah was a prophet if jonah was a prophet why would he whisper and he'd act like he didn't know god could hear his whisper wow that's a tough one if he was a prophet why didn't he do what why didn't he know that god can hear his whispers oh if he was a prophet why didn't he believe that god could hear his prayer at times akiva on the christian journey we have don't because what we are in the great controversy and the enemy is going to whisper doubt in our hearts he's going to put malice and bitterness inside of us but we have to depend on god to take it away from us jonah didn't know how much he hated an invite he didn't know right he didn't know until god tell him to go and preach repentance so akiva sometimes the enemy is trying to pull us away from god when he put bad thoughts in us and doubt but god does leave us to his mercy the lord comes and he rescues us and we say praise the lord amen amen sister allen really went on god's errand a while ago to give us the lesson review which she did so ably thank you so much sister allen we have truly learned how to overcome our journey of restlessness through that lesson review seated those of you in the church as pathfinders and master guides adventurers and senior youth we pledge to always keep a song in our heart and as pathfinders master guides adventurers and senior youth we have a very special song that we always sing and to tell us more about that song today we have sister avon allen happy sabbath once again everyone at this segment we would usually sing a song for our song of praise but today as sister grant informed us earlier we'll be doing things a little bit different today now i'm sure most of you behind the screen are familiar with the pathfinder song and for those of you who aren't we sang it earlier today now today i'm going to give you a little back story about how this song came into being so in the year 1949 all the part fenders leaders they were at a director's council and they spoke about all the different issues that they needed to address now one of their major concerns was the need for a song and john hancock said to his friend hernia bridge henry why don't you write the song and henry said me i am not a musician i can't write the song however some time passed and he was thinking to himself you know we really do need a song and one day while he was driving to a sabbath appointment he was thinking about what kind of words can i put into this song so he started thinking about what do i want this song to represent to the world how do i want pathfinders to sing when they are singing this song and as he thought about it the word started coming to him and he became excited and he pulled over to the side of the road and he jotted down the lyrics so after a while he started driving again and as he was driving he started singing and he started making up a little tune to go with the song so when he arrived at home he brought the words to his wife miriam who was a musician and she composed the song for him however he was still feeling a bit unconfident and he asked his friend when what do you think about this song and his friend said go for it now in the following year at the california central conference meeting he played the song they voted for it and they decided to keep that song for their pathfinder song now the rest is history as you would see as that song became translated and played all over the world and it was adopted for the official song for the pathfinders now henry burge unconfident and unsure wrote this song in this on the roadside in his car a song that would reach all around the world it would be translated in many languages and it would help to give mission but as i read his story i thought to myself how did henry just come up with these words right well i realized that henry had a song in his heart so sometimes we might feel unsure we might not be sure of what to do but once we have a song in our heart jesus will give us the melody jesus will give us the tune and through our song and through his help we can touch the lives of many people have a happy sabbath [Music] happy sabbath my adventurers pathfinders master guides and senior youths the title of our story is jonah and the whale a very long time ago lived a man named jonah god had a special job for him god wanted jonah to go to the land of nineveh and to tell the people that their bad ways had made god sad jonah didn't like this special job because he knew the people were bad and wanted god to punish them so jonah decided to run away jonah got onto a boat that was going in the opposite direction of nineveh while jonah was on the boat a storm came and it shook and blew the boat so much that the sailors thought the boat was going to sink oh no how scary all the people on the boat started throwing their bags overboard hoping that the storm would stop but jonah knew that god but jonah knew that god had sent the storm and so he told the sailors to throw him into the water god loved jonah and so while he was in the water god sent a big fish to swallow him can you imagine being inside of a big fish it must have been very dark squishy and smelled like the ocean ew while jonah was inside the fish he prayed and when he was finished god commanded the fish to spit him onto the shore god still wanted jonah to go to the land of nineveh and so jonah obeyed god he told the people that their bad ways had broken god's heart and that god was going to destroy them and guess what the people were so sorry and cried to god for forgiveness god loved his people so much that he forgave them and decided he was not going to destroy them and god loves you as well so boys and girls you can learn from this story that you must always be obedient to the word of god and go wherever he sends you let us pray dear heavenly father thank you for this day and i pray that us boys and girls will learn to obey you and go wherever you send us in your name i pray amen bye [Music] [Music] honor the lord with your worlds as the first trojan of all your earrings let us pray heavenly father please that but as you are about to give lord you'll help us to give with our willing heart please that whatever we give lord will be given for our worth because thank you for another sabbath lord in jesus name i pray amen the information will now be displayed on the screen [Music] is [Music] the scripture reading is taken from isaiah 6 8 it reads i hope i also heard the voice of the lord saying whom shall i send and who will go for us then i said here am i send me this is the word of the lord [Music] and glorify thy name [Music] glorify thy name glory by thy day bless thy word all to our hearts and glory father [Music] days are filled with hearts are lonely edges [Music] is [Music] jesus is buried there [Music] almighty god or everlasting father here we are in your sanctuary this morning to give you all the honor the glory and the praise that is due to your name we are delighted god that we are able to come into your sanctuary we recognize that it's not anything good that we have done but because your grace and your mercy favor us today as we come lord may we put away everything that will distract us and may we offer up our sacrifices of praise and as our praises go up to you may the blessings that you have in store come down to us we ask heavenly father that you will honor your promise that if we confess our sins you are faithful and you are just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all or unrighteousness so we ask that you cleanse us from our sins today wash us thoroughly from our iniquity and give us lord we pray a new heart a new desire to serve you a right we want to lift up to you this morning all those who are sick those who are being ravished by kovi 19 and other comorbidities lord we know that you are the great healer and so we ask that you will surround them with your love and your healing hand we ask that you will comfort those who weep and mourn so that the time of joy may return heal the sick the captive free so we all can rejoice in you i ask that today in a special way you will look down on our young people in this church and across jamaica across the world as we all celebrate world pathfinder day lord the theme is i will go you have called upon young men upon young women to be your ambassadors you say you call them because they are strong and as they come out today to worship you i pray that you will empower them with the divine holy spirit so that they will have that desire to go for you in a special way we ask that you will be with your pathfinder who has chose who you have chosen to break the bread of life with us today lord give her a double portion of your holy spirit and may our hearts be watered as the words which come from our mouth will come directly from your throne of grace we give you all the honor we give you all the praise and we say thank you lord for loving us thank you lord for forgiving us thank you lord for blessing us thank you for the victory over sin we pray in jesus name amen [Music] [Music] night [Music] right [Music] our speaker for today is a master guide in training she loves the lord and i might add that i observe that she is a no-nonsense person and that is why this 19-year-old has chosen to pursue criminal justice with an emphasis in forensic signs at the northern caribbean university her motto is be you do you for you because failing in originality is better than succeeding in imitation the person i speak of today is sister zorian clark i ask that you breathe a word of purr as she delivers or sermon for today but before sister zorian clark comes to us we will have our song of meditation by sister hope isaacs [Music] would i come to you let my heart be changed renewed flowing from the grace [Music] lord i've come to know the weaknesses i see in me will be stripped [Music] by the power of your love [Music] hold me close [Music] draw me to your side our eyes your spirit leads me [Music] lord unveil my eyes let me see your face to face the knowledge of your lord [Music] lord renew my mind [Music] by the power of your lord oh [Music] [Music] [Music] your spirit leads me [Music] [Music] is [Music] and i will say with you your spirit leads me [Music] amen happy sabbath everyone thank you sister yani for your kind words of introduction as most of you are aware the theme for today pathfinder's day 2021 is i will go a few of us may be familiar with the lyrics here i am lord is it i lord i have heard you calling in the night i will go lord if you lead me as was ably read by omarion isaiah 6 8 says also i heard the voice of the lord saying whom shall i send and who will go for us then said i here am i send me i will go let us pray dear kind and compassionate father as we come before your presence once again we want to give you thanks for yes another sabbath day dear lord thank you for the many blessings that you have bestowed upon us and given us the ability to live to see another day dear lord forgive us of all our sins and allow us to be more like you and to be drawn closer to you in jesus name i pray amen here i am lord send me many of us here today whether in host or online can attest to the fact that we aren't always willing to take up certain responsibilities and our responses when approached may vary but in the end we are simply saying whether we will or will not do something so the question is asked zorian can you do this and i would respond and say no i don't think i'm capable i think that sister suzette would be a better fit and she would say no yet i don't think i am capable i don't think i am qualified to do such thing and then you would ask avon and the cycle will continue whether your response is it's just not right for you you're too shy you don't want to come out of your comfort zone you don't want to be judged or whatever it is that you use to justify your actions these excuses are simply another way of saying that you will not go but when it is god that calls you what will your answer be will you go i know if many of us were to do some introspection we would be able to recall a time when we have told god that we will not go or maybe not using such important words but still we were not willing to go but why is it that some of us find it hard to say that we will do something to say to in order for us to say that we will go it is really a decision of faith so come with me into the battlefield and let's analyze the dimensions of a warrior who is challenging god's people his name is goliath and he has two surnames the terrible giant and the broken bones his personal record up to the point is that he has not lost a single match and men who have fought with him have never fought again some general information about him was that goliath was extraordinarily tall even by today's standards the bible tells us that his height is six cubits and a span which is two point nine seven meters his coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels and the iron blade of his spear 600 shekels he he was also from rapha and may have been a mercenary soldier of the philistine army wow just wow so we move on to the battlefield when the question is asked who want to fight goliath no one wants to die young and leave their family childless right but there is a reward if you go but we see where eve with king saul's offer nobody was interested but a young man who had never put on a military uniform who hadn't been on a battlefield who knew nothing about giant said i will go and fight this was considered a terrible dilemma and everyone who was on the battlefield said this was a sure death the key to being victorious is that before you go you have to meet god to make a decision of such great faith we must understand the type of warrior that david was so the first characteristic of this warrior was that he was called by god and he was humble and obedient so first samuel 17 verses 34 and 35 reads but david said unto saul thy servant kept his father's sheep and there came a lion and a beer and took a lamb out of the flock and i went out after him and smote it and delivered it out of its mouth and when he arose against me i caught him by his beard and smote him and slew him so david's assignment was to simply care for sheep while his brother shone in the king's army but david made a good decision as long as the sheep were in his hands he would have he would fight with god's help not to lose a single one of them so many times we want to reach high goals with little to no effort and that is not in god's plan the formula for success is god plus effort plus perseverance equals success first samuel 17 verse 17 and 18 continues to highlight the fact that david was simply a shepherd boy and an errand boy but that did not limit his efforts to do his best the second characteristic is that the warrior chosen by god always goes in the name of the lord and does not hear the negative voices verse 33 continues to say and david said to david and saul said to david sorry thou are not able to go against this philistine to fight with him for thou art a youth and he a man of war from his youth david said moreover the lord that delivered me out of the port of the lion and out of the power of the bear he will deliver me out of the hand of this philistine and saul said unto david go and the lord be with thee so notice that david doesn't say i think the lord would deliver me he says he will deliver me so david is sure that he will be victorious in the lord the third characteristic is that the warrior that god desires to fail to send fills his mouth with god and his word so let's look at the at what david says about god in his conversation with goliath then david said to the philistine thou comest to me with a sword and a spear and with a shield but i come to thee in the name of the lord of hosts the god of the armies of israel whom thou hast defied this day the lord will deliver thee into mine hand and i will smite thee and take thine head from thee and i will give the carcasses of the host of the philistines this day onto the falls of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth that all the earth may know that there is a god in israel and all this assembly shall know that the lord saveth not with a spear for the battle is the lord's and he will deliver you into our hands god is mentioned six times in this conversation and what does that mean this suggests that david's mouth is full of god so the fourth characteristic is that a warrior of god does not play with evil he cuts off its head verse 51 therefore david ran and stood upon the philistine and took his sword and drew it out of the sheath thereof and slew him and cut off his head therewith and when the philistines saw their champion was dead they fled if you are willing to respond to the calling and say i will go what should you do here are five things that you should do if you are willing to go you should ensure that you've had an encounter with god you should stay humble and obedient to his words if you are going to go put all your trust in god and fill your mouth with his word and his promises if you are going to go cut ties with sin and evil and recognize that victory comes from god the story is told of a fourteen-year-old teenager named todd a young and devout christian with many dreams and goals he loved hiking water sports and anything adventurous todd loved his family and the church and he knew that the blessings of his life came only from god but suddenly todd suffered an accident while water seen water skiing sorry and lost one of his legs so pathfinders we can't possibly imagine what that was like unless we have experienced something similar there is nothing more devastating than when misfortune comes into your life and robs all your hopes and dreams but when our battles come we can do either we can do one of two things for the rest of our lives we can continue to trust in god recognize that he is sovereign and has control acknowledge that he loves us and that although we do not understand we continue to trust that he will fight for us in battle or we can be upset about it go crazy lose judgment and abandon our trust and closeness with god but the decision is up to you and it should be one of great faith an accident of such magnitude would have been enough to kill anyone's aspirations but not todd's several years after the accident he graduated as a psychotherapist and became the clinical director of a support center for people with physical limitations to demonstrate that trusting god and willpower can overcome the greatest challenges todd set out to climb the highest peak in east state of the us in 100 days he achieved it in 66 days and with only one leg the previous record was 101 days for someone with both legs how could todd have accomplished this his answer through faith in god and in the cup and in the capacities he has given us we can overcome any challenge that life presents us with a crisis can be what god uses to motivate a serious change in your life i repeat a crisis can be what god uses to motivate a serious change in your life todd houston's life changed and he was never the same person again he triumphed because he sought the lord so as mentioned before by saying we will go it is really a decision of faith so let's look at the story of ruth when naomi her mother-in-law had told both orpah and ruth that they were free to leave and return to their mother to their mother's house as mentioned in ruth 1 verse 8 due to the tragedies that they went through ruth decided to cling to naomi instead verse 16 of ruth chapter 1 reads and ruth said entreat me not to leave thee or to return from following after thee for wither though goest i will go and where thou largest i will lodge thy people will be my people and thy god my god ruth had grown to love and respect not just naomi but she had also grown to love god and it was ruth's faith that caused her to make the decision to go with naomi sure we may say that i will go but how far are you willing to go with jesus it depends on your faith the willingness the willingness to go always involves faith but it is also important to understand in whom should we put our faith and this leads us to the various types of i will go there's the i will go of a victor the i will go of self-sufficiency and the i will go off repentance the i will go of a victor it is typical of us as humans to want to gain victory or to become successful right you don't want to be successful okay but true victory is in jesus and we must be willing to go through the storms the wars and whatever tough situations we are going through in order to come out victorious it was winston churchill that said if you are going through hell keep going because why would you want to stop in hell so in order for us to be victors we must put on the whole armor of god as outline defeat in ephesians 6 and we must keep going in other words we cannot be victorious if we cannot say i will go how are we going to win any battle if we stay in hiding and never go to the front lines the only way to be real victors in christ is when we say i will go the i will go of self-sufficiency the words i will go represent a decision of faith as i have said before but sometimes it's not our faith in god that causes us to make certain decisions but it is our faith in ourselves by being self-sufficient we're saying i can do this on my own i will go i don't need god and this i will go of self-sufficiency can be quite detrimental since it may cause us to place our faith in all the wrong things second corinthians 3 verse 5 reads not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as a poor self but our sufficiency is of god and sometimes we may feel like we are self-sufficient in christ which is a good thing but most times it is the opposite where we believe that we are so self-sufficient that we actually become god-deficient so sometimes when we become so dependent on ourselves and our faith is in the human flesh we end up in a in a position where we find ourselves lacking god we can tell the story of samson found in judges for example in judges 16 verse 20 we see where delilah after cutting his hair woke him out of him sleep woke him out of his sleeve to make him aware of the philistines so verse 20 and she said the philistines be upon thee samson and he awoke from his sleep and said what what were the three words that he said okay i will go out as at other times before and shake myself and he knows not that the lord was departed from him here we see a self-sufficient samson thinking that this is no hard task for me i am a man of great strength not knowing that in that very moment he was god deficient in this very moment his faith was not in god but in himself and we saw the outcome so when we become so arrogant that we feel self-sufficient then we have to be mindful that this can lead to negative outcomes first corinthians 10 verse 12 says therefore let any man who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall we must be willing to go by faith but let it be that your faith is humbly in god and not man finally the i will go off repentance sometimes we are called by god and we decide that we are not going to go because because our life is filled with too much sin and we feel like there is no space for us in god's presence but as sister allen spoke about repentance in this morning's lesson review we can see that no matter how far we stray from god or how bad or life may seem god's love is still the same and his love for us never changes and he ensures that we always have the opportunity to say i will go back to my father by saying this you are seeking repentance and saying you are sorry for what you have done or where you've been but you are also thanking god for his unchanging love and the ability to come home to him whatever challenges you might be facing whatever life whatever hurdles life may be thrown your way and whatever you are going through just remember that there is always someone willing to help and that person is god and all you need to say to him is i will go what whether your eye will go is of someone needing victory over your situation or whether your eye will go is one of repentance god wants us to get up go out and fulfill his mission but first what he most desires is for us to have an encounter with him i implore you all to change your mindset today whatever it may be and be willing to work in the service of the lord so let it be a known fact that by faith zorian is willing to go for jesus by faith zanya is willing to go for jesus so go ahead and type in the chat by faith insert your name and state that you are willing to go for jesus adventurers pathfinders master guides and senior youth tell him today lord i will go [Music] by faith yanni grant is willing to go by faith i'll say it again janni grant is willing to go or close in him him 6 2 3 morning we thank you for the words that you have sent through your man's servant sister clark i thank you for her dear god i pray in a very special way that you'll continue to use her for your service your blesser their gardener going out and in our coming in and that your leader in the path of righteousness daily lord i not only place her before you at this time but all those who have listened to your words this morning that you'll help us dear god to repeat the phrase i will go not only from our lips but from our hearts dear god we know that there are goliaths out there waiting for us but i pray in the name of jesus that whatever the goliath is mighty god that you'll remove it in the name of jesus so that we can go and do your bidding and as we go there lord i pray that we will not go with self what will go in your might and in your power i place before you with the young people at this time those in the sanctuary and those all over the world you see the challenges that they face daily the different temptations the distractions dear god i pray whatever it is you will cut and clear their way their pathway and help them oh god to continue to hold on to you and to determine in their hearts that come what me they will cling to you like joseph may they cry out oh god how can i do this wickedness and sin against god help them their lord to resist temptation to flee from the devil so that he will not be an overcomer in their lives i pray a blessing and their studies i pray a blessing on their spiritual life may they want your word as a dear pants for the water and may they desire you their god draw them to you with cards of love and ever in the near future god they will be the one leading your church i pray that you'll continue to carry them in the palms of your hands for those who have drawn away from you i pray oh god that you'll draw them back unlike jonah whom you have saved in the belly of the will oh god i pray that you'll save those young people who have gone astray from you draw them back almighty god and then they'll come to the fold of safety for all of us who are your children big and small cover us now under your blood and may as we go may we go remembering that you love all people and that you want everyone to be saved let us turn the spotlight on our hearts and let us surrender all to you may we oh god as we go we want your words we'll feed on it and when we feed on it may we share it with others so at the end when thou shalt come all of us would have been saved in your eternal kingdom grant us faith over fear dear god and
