[Music] welcome to [Music] Singapore [Music] good day everyone this is Tim and I hope you're doing well I am in Singapore and I'm crossing the road so just being a bit careful so really enjoying the time in Singapore and I got to meet up with some new friends with Fang and the crew where we got to explore the wonderful hawker stalls and that oyster pancake the folks have been there for 17 years was really delicious treat and we had such a feast with Vanessa and Kevin and Quay and we actually finished everything plus dessert and I still can't get over how much oil was in that delicious oyster pancake well that was a couple of days ago and I am all recovered and I'm pretty excited because I heard there was a new Buffet here in Singapore and it's in a hotel that's been here for a long time it's the Mandarin orange and I heard they recently renovated and reopen with lots of seafood and Lobster and the roasts and all that good stuff I heard they also have a signature laxa as well so I can't wait to give it a try I hope you're hungry come on let's have a great meal together let's go inside okay so immediately you feel the coolness of this wonderful air condition room and I think the buffet is right over [Music] there [Music] thank you oh thank you so much nice to get a table and even walking in you know where they set their priorities they have dessert first and those mandarin orange dessert look so decadent and walking around you see the Tower of lobster and seafood and the wonderful roast and actually outside there is another station a barbecue station and I feel for the poor chefs out in the heat grilling up the storm but really appreciative and let me show you the room really elegant and it is certainly getting busy and while it is cool in the room it was fought outside and I can certainly use a drink an ice coal glass of water very nice and with that let's start the buffet and go for the lobsters come on let's go so the buffet started about 5 minutes ago and it is already quite busy let just grab a plate so starting off this is the bread station but I think we will skip that for this wonderful Seafood Tower over here and the Seafood Tower is diminishing quickly but that's okay they keep this stocked up so maybe a lobster here and it's better half and a crawfish so off to a wonderful start and some oysters over there try one little bit of Minette okay more seafood and beautiful scallops hi there very nice here we'll make it a pair and this is looking pretty good these are crab that are already cracked for you so less work little bit of clams and some muscles all right and then this is the salad station a little bit of the healthy options and maybe a refreshing apple salad go oh a wonderful array of sushi a little bit of eel some salmon toico and a tago I'm not sure what this is let's give it a try and this is looking really interesting a h corn Sushi and a delicious looking boat of Sashimi so maybe a little bit of tuna some scallops next to the original sweet prawns a little bit more tuna and finally some salmon oh thank you Chef okay there's no more room but maybe right over here and I think that will suffice for round one of many this is round one and there's still a few areas at the starters I didn't get to try with the salad in the parmesan wheel and all the cold cuts but this is what I have so far and it is a nice start with the lobster and the Sushi Station and I have been accustomed to try the tago first as this is one of the tests of their Japanese cuisine as they say little bit of soy and while I am no expert on tomago all I can say is it tastes delicious kind of curious as to what this Sushi is let's give it a try it's a pickle sushi but I think we got to dig into that Lobster and we would give the two halves the exposure let's give this a try oh and this comes off so easily cut it up a little bit of the Wasabi mayoo perfectly poached Lobster nice and sweet and delicate and the Wasabi meal that extra kick which is much needed and as good as the cold Lobster is I heard there's some warm lobster in the form of lobster laxa and I can't wait to give it a try but for now maybe a little bit of the oysters let's give this a try all right cheers nice and fresh and Briny perfectly chilled not too cold and most importantly very fresh the corn Sushi is quite interesting let's give this a try a little bit of mayo a little bit of corn interesting textures crunchy corn creamy Mayo it is something unique for sure so a very good start to again the first course of manyi and uh I'm just going to finish this up and we'll take you back for some more round one went by quickly and very enjoyable the apple salad that was an apple seafood salad and to make it even better a little bit of scallops along with the salad and speaking of scallops the scallops the shimi a little bit of soy very nice and of course the crab always a bit of work a little bit of misjudgment on my part so with that I think uh we can go for round two let's go for some hot food and uh I have my eye on that Lobster laxa come on let's go and it is getting busy Buffet is in full swing and I think we're just going to visit the barbecue area with a wonderful barbecue pork the duck and the rose pork hi chef Steven oh the rose pork looks so good can I try a little bit of the duck and the rose pork Oh oh thank you oh thank you Chef Steven thank you so much I think this is a pork knuckle and Chef stepen is uh carving up that wonderful beef can I get a little beef thank you and then can I try the the the crispy pork knuckle thank you wow that's good thank you Chef all right and I am seeing a lineup for the lxa there can I get some laxa oh um how about this [Music] one oh thank you so much some please I had to get back to my seat early because I don't want that laxa to wait let's give this a try and uh a nice warm laxa lobster take out a lobster meat okay and a little bit of noodles a little bit of Sall little bit of noodles let's just try the noodles on its own very nice A little bit of the spongy tofu to soak up that wonderful laxa bra and uh maybe a little bit of lobster a wonderful laxa made even better oh beautiful Lobster and a beautiful spongy tofu I think we need to combine a little bit of everything some noodles a little bit of and a little bit of the lobster oh definitely a big bite a big and delicious spite so I think I got to try that beef next we just switch things around and this is looking really gorgeous nice and pink and it's like a knife through butter a little bit of sauce oh probably one of the best roasts I've ever had so tender perfectly cooked a little bit of fat just the right amount to round it off very nice I got to try the rast pork next and the wonderful thing is that there are two types of Rose pork one with a crispy skin and the other one with the crispy skin as well let's try the knuckle first and I think we'll do this with our hands crispy but a little bit chewy let's try the roast pork and I think I'll use the Chopsticks oh much crispier delicate Crispy Crunchy Lacy skin and a nice tender meat and fat I prob the duck and the only thing I was missing is a pum sauce but that's okay let's give this a try duck is tender and juicy and of course a wonderful lacquered skin so a quick round two I'm going to finish this off and I can see the Indian station getting pretty busy so I better hurry up because there are many more stations to go some high quality H2O as they say that was delicious and done and dusted if you're here go for the lobster loxa definitely a good choice and a little bit of meat and potatoes really well done the potato was as tender as the beef making it the perfect bite and I am really impressed and I think now I heard the specialty here is the Indian station uh let's go check it out that little robot has been uh clearing up the table and I think we're already off to a good start an array of truty maybe a little bit of Rita to get things started a little bit more and Chef have been replenishing expeditiously and let's go for a little bit of papadoms and these I know are a filler but they are so good the traditional Indian snack a prawn cracker and I think a little bit of garlic naan a little bit of treats from the tendor the chicken the lamb and the salmon and some Veggie Kebab okay and now we're talking this is the lamb vendelo little bit spicy wonderful gravy next to the Rita a little bit of fish oh and one of my favorite the palac paneer some cauliflower suby and chicken masala right in the center finally a little bit of rice one final spot but there is more behind me because Chef has just brought out the uh the wonderful chili crab so starting from the end a little bit of pot stickers and a little bit of fried rice just a bit and some wonderful glass noodles very light and refreshing right here and since this is Singapore we definitely need to try the chili crab right here but as good as the crab is I think it's the sauce right over the crab and something as a mus with a crab the deep fried bread nice and delicate moving on a little bit of shrimp roasted and shrimp deep fried and I think this is a uh stew of some sort and some crispy eggplant or overin and let's go to the other side okay so I little bit of Japanese with the takoyaki and I think this is chicken karagi some skewers and a wonderful seab bass maybe just a little bit and I think we're moving into Thai territory with a basil Fork and the tom yum soup and behind me there is more a wonderful lobster bisque and a gron of seafood a little bit of this and the chili sauce is running over a little bit of the fatty brisket look at that right over here some luscious sea bass some chicken and beets and maybe just a little bit of the potato with the BR just a dab and I think this is a healthy plate so the many rounds and the many dishes have been catching up with me getting a little bit full but I could not resist the lobster bisque let's give this a try it's a big bowl a little bit of soup rich and and creamy with sweetness of the shellfish and I think a little bit of roasted toasted garlic bread would make the soup even better and it does a crunchy Crouton of the garlic bread softened by that luscious Lobster bis very nice and speaking of red let's go for the [Music] on and a little bit of the Lamb vendelo nice and soft little bit of sauce it's spicy but very very delicious luscious lamb and I think this time a little bit of Rita to the rescue much better a little bit of the Pak paner with the rice expertly balanced and I think we got to try that brisket before it gets too cold see all right barely needs to be cut and I think this is a seafood and this is the potatoes that is so tender particularly with a little bit of fat on the brisket and a little bit of potatoes to round It Off oh so good maybe the glass noodles next very nice but the glass noodles are a bit filling got to try the crab okay and once again crab is a bit work and a little bit Nessy went to the other table and apologies for that and I think we will need the heavy tools even though they're cracked is still a little bit tough there we go so again there is a lot of work with crab for a little bit of delicious ious goodness and I hope it was worth it and it is but as good as a crab is I think it is a sauce with this crunchy fried bread BTO in uh in Chinese give that a try oh I'd be happy just with the sauce and the bread cuz the bread is nice and crunchy and crisp soft on the inside and the tanginess of the sauce very nice so I think I might have overdone it with this round but again uh we'll finish this up and hopefully we'll take you back for dessert or uh maybe another station I think there's also a station out there so depending on how full uh I get uh we'll see I must say the Indian dishes here in Singapore are much spicier than what they have in Canada so definitely a little bit of that Rita is needed and I think um I have to make a choice is it dessert or the wonderful barbecue station outside and the table next to me was saying how great the steaks were uh I think we're going to go light on the dessert but go for the steak come on I think I have to practice on my waving and uh gosh it is humid here and uh oh there is the barbecue station hello hi chef man how are you I'm I heard the steaks were very good here uh can I try a little bit grab a plate oh sure oh just a little bit really full just a few slice for you oh okay thank you so much and uh let's see a little bit of sauces here a little bit of horseradish a little bit of this a little bit of pizza see some lamb some salmon is that pork cow oh oh Chef Ben may I try one oh a little one please small pieces for you oh oh thank you and I think that's all I can handle so a much more manageable plate and gosh it is humid outside and I couldn't resist I got a little bit more of the potatoes but look at how fatty and well marbled that steak is and I think the por might have been a mistake a little bit too fatty and I can't believe I'm saying that but let's dig into the steak that is looking so tender and the weight of the knife is just cutting through this wonderfully I think this was a tomahawk going to try this on its own I'm not sure what cut it is it almost tastes like wagu it just melts in the mouth not surprised if that's what it is but let's make the perfect bite with a little bit of potato and that luscious meat a little bit of horseradish ah perfect it's hard to know which one is more tender the potato or the beef got to have another bite and maybe a little bit of the pork GW together I'm so glad I got a small plate my only regret is to not trying the uh barbecue station until near the end I think this that steak that Tomahawk is the best I've ever had so again I'm going to finish this off and uh still have a little bit more room for dessert and we'll take you back definitely need the water here it is humid outside so a wonderful meal and we are returning from where we began this is a dessert station and I did not realize it wraps around all the way to the end over there and the hardworking Folks at the back and it's always nice to start off with some fresh fruits that's being cut up at the back and a little bit of watermelon and these I've never had before let's give it a try right over here and we have some kiwi some pineapple some dragon fruit more watermelon but I think that is enough of the fruits and Let's see we have cylinders of colorful liquids and moving on a round table of delicious goodness and this is a good example of how humid it is the panacotta is kept under lid see some chocolate goodness let's try one of these and we have some more chocolate goodness I think that is chocolate covering a pereral a mini cheesecake I think right here a beautiful chocolate cup carefully and look at this a wonderful multi layered cake with a snowball on top not that it snows here and it's interesting there is another side behind the mandolins are more traditional desserts okay and this is a refrigerated section under glass is a signature chocolate cake raspberry shoe a terisu cup that is frosted over not sure if you can see ah and a mandarin orange and it's kind of funny I get a little bit confused with the hotel the Mandarin Oriental with the uh Mandarin orange let's go for one of these hi chef Evelyn how are you oh the Mandarin oranges look wonderful uh may I try one oh thank you oh yes and can I try a chocolate Dome thank you so much finally we have made it to the dessert round and it's always nice to find something new at the table a nice cup of latte and I could not resist I had to go for the pistachio ice cream and while I would love to go for the latte right now it's just a little too warm um maybe some ice cream first because ice cream doesn't Wait For You especially in this humidity this is bashio ice cream let's give it a try that is very good I put a bit of pistachio in there but it really doesn't need it does add a nice crunch but that is rich and full of pistachio flavor and the fact that it isn't neon green means it's uh the real thing cheers I think I will need that latte a perfect balance of the cold and the warm and let's give the cake a try this is a multi-layer cake with the snowball on top I can sure use a bit of cold right now oh that snowball is a coconut and the cake is a cloud that melts in your mouth laminated between layers of cream very nice and to show you how humid it is here this is one of the signature cakes that Chef Evelyn has put together and it is melting like I am so let's give it a try oh a little bit something on the inside oh I was afraid that the chocolate Dome would be heavy nothing of the sort light and Airy with flavors of deep dark chocolate not too sweet the sign of a good dessert very nice and a little bit of crunch from the base I think I got to try that fruit not this one but this one never had this before but let's give it a try it is like a cross between an apple and a pear but much more delicate and mellow very nice I can go for more of those and a little bit messy as well and finally I got to try their signature dessert this is the Mandarin orange from the Mandarin Oriental get the Leaf off let's give this a try Okay always nice to have a dessert with a little bit of a surprise inside that just explodes in your mouth with bursts of Mandarin flavor in that creamy custardy Cloud very good so this is embo at the Mandarin Oriental really great folks here in a fantastic time when you're here go for the lobster laxa and make sure you go for that wagu I think it's a wagu but go for that Tomahawk Steak so tender and delicious and of course that dessert wonderful so thank you so much for joining uh really nice enjoying the time here in Singapore getting to meet old friends and making new friends as well so until we see each other
