one of my least favorite aspects of splitting firewood is chasing all the wedges that fall off the chopping block you see what I mean I'm going to show you a little trick that's going to change everything all right for today's build we're only going to need a couple things a small length of chain this chain here is definitely a bit on the heavy side you don't need anything this heavy this is just a piece that I had laying around that didn't have to cut but something around 12 to 16 inches in length or so and a good high quality rubber bungee I like these these big heavy-duty rubber ones sometimes you can find still find the american-made ones that truck stops or truck supplies where they still have the good ones your cheap ones your made in China you'll get about one season out of them and they'll crack and dry I think most of us have experienced that but these good USA built ones they'll just last and last and last for a long time so this bill just couldn't be any simpler go to your vise if you don't have a vise you can do this with a hammer and we're just going to put a piece of chain in here and the end and we're going to permanently close this hook when you're all done your split nadir that's a technical term should look something like this now the reason why we have the chain and the bungee is so we can adjust the diameter depending on what size of log if you have smaller stuff you might be able to make a chain that's a little bit smaller or bigger either way but it gives us a lots of variety to size it for all different sizes of cordwood so how appropriate for this video it's not every day you get a forty pound box of axis from Italy Brandi let's see let's see a future videos future videos in the future I'm sure there's not one of you so we'd like to take a peek inside that box see how can I get the most out of this I'll tell you what guys give it five thousand thumbs up on this video and we will take a look we'll do an official unboxing shameless promotion you say absolutely but which one of us here doesn't shamelessly promote ourselves so you see see what's going on here all right very simple but very effective right there got our bungee on there now I'm going to want to place this I'm going to place it down on the lower lower extremity at the lower half maybe right below center to lessen my chance of getting my axe into it but if we're careful stay to the center we should be just fine let's try it out you there you have it the split Nader in full disclosure I have to tell you that I learned something on the design as using it that this bungee is too long so when you make your own make your chain longer so your chain wraps around 3/4 of the way there 2/3 of the log and then you get a short bungee on that I did cut right through one of these bungees it just split it like like nobody's business but just be aware when you make your own make the chain long the bungee short so back to the box you ever heard of brandy italian-made hand for Jax's well how can I say here there has been talk there has been talk preliminary talk about a wrangler star special edition x designed 100% by me from pole to handle I don't think I'm supposed to tell you that well cats out of the bag now very preliminary stages but these are some of the first prototype type axes just so I can kind of see what Brandi is up to what their quality control is and get an idea about the company so look forward to that so you know what to do if you want to see what's in this box at all I'm going to save it I'm not going to open it right now as badly as I want to I'm going to leave the green bands there's no garage in that or no forging that and five thousand five thousand and we'll open it together we'll see on the next video
