hey everybody we splitting firewood and you can see this pile old trees i salvaged all these dead trees that died but I wanted to show you how a slinger a mall and I can tell you when I was a teenager I started out with a McCulloch chainsaw about 13 first time I ever held one now Mary was the size of like a lawnmower engine and I had trouble oldest you know but they let me use it and I just blessed one of my earliest memories and slang an axe but when I got to be 18 19 20 years over the had a firewood business in wintertime and when one of my memories I like thinking about was selling a wheelbarrow load of firewood and in these high-rise Suites you know 18 20 floors up going up a freight elevator you know Duke you know he said we'll buy all over the firewood for 30 bucks back then that was some pretty good money so that's one of my fondest memories but I learned a lot dealing with this firewood and I'm just gonna show you some of the techniques that I have one thing I have prescription safety glasses with the lens and gloves and steel toed boots and playing a Clooney you know you don't want it to be bagging loose when you're slaying of AXA small but this is what I use on the big loads I got wedgies one for a backup in case one gets eight pound sledge hammer and then you know after that I'll use them all and it's eight pounds and that's one thing you gotta go have figure out what size mall you can actually handle or swing for the smaller stuff here I've been working on this this is why I'm gonna make my Cameron from a rocket stoves and it's the right height I built this wedge in here and he used a sledgehammer I'll set the wood in here I'll sit wood down in there that's already been split and now I'll use the sledgehammer to drive it across the wedge I'm gonna hook this other side and turn the wedge around it'll be a better design so that's working progress I had six cores those dead trees I had put up either that or they're gonna rot and I'm gonna use all this in my garden I had had water running down in here you can see work got wet but I'm gonna lemonade that here shortly and you can see these holes in this old 10 water running down in there myself as much as I could and this is all looking good right here he even had to buy some good ten so anytime you can run across then use ten you need to take it back to the homestead I got some what I do is not trying to put down bark and I know people got chopping blocks and everything but I try to put bark down there and he'll go down in the ground you always look for split say for instance you can see that split there and this is Ryan let's gonna be easy to split for this just for demonstration but there's a split there so I'm gonna heat it on this side away from the crack the side told me and when I go down on the low I want this handle to be level if it's up too high or chopping block you're gonna hit that I've hit it on this side if it's too low if you don't get you your swing down right it's gonna hit the outside so we're gonna split right here and I'm gonna hit right in here and what you do they'll get that axe and I'll throw it up up on my head you don't want to sling it from the side and nothing like that because any kind of flexing with the head is gonna throw it off when you enter the wood and you won't take time keep your eye on the spot that you go ahead and you got it when you're buying one you got to make sure that you're holding the end of it you can handle the weight going over your head your wrist has got to have the strength to sling the hammer now I just go a little bit past top they're thinner so I can get an arc with the mall and then a pounder fits me well so here we are I'll get my distance you know you have you've been doing it for a long time you know about how far stand but you can see see if I don't go down I don't bend my back straight and come down and enter at least this angle here I'm not gonna hit the center of the mall you can see you see that all right I got my distance that's a rotten piece of wood all right now so would here's one's got a crack in distance now it's - I really like this it's a trooper the last one I had I loaned it out I got a back of head wood handling split it out you can see where this is suffered some damage but it's still intact I love this small and I think I bought at Home Depot or something and I really like it nothing over time combing just split it down to the size you need you know if your wife's gonna be hanging or something you know what I mean you need smaller pieces got small stogie you gotta split smoke but these sizes a good size for the my stove and I'm not wasting a lot of energies making two small firewood but that but that angle keeping your back straight and coming down on top of the log making contact with the senator tomorrow first that's important and you'll find out if you do it the same way every time you won't have any trouble you you get a better splitting wood it's all by swings just like swinging the bat you're not gonna be you're not going you'll improve over time if you do it if you get the right if you do the you sling it right then you'll just get better and better at won't be small fire will put up and this is all this riding stuff's going to my heal culture raised bed no it's gonna be wasted I've been shoveling all this stuff up that's going on the top I'll dress that out I have to put the wood in there so I hope this is helpful when Lord bless you we'll see you later
