Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I haven't watched the video but she looks GORGEOUS in that thumbnail.
Hey, I wonder what sheβs trying to sell...
So.... does anyone have a dupe for that Sweet Tea lip liner? I donβt buy Morphe and would love to know a match in other brands.
A disclaimer, and I normally hate disclaimers, but I want to clarify my position: I enjoy Jaclyn Hill videos. I just find them to be good background noise and her personality interesting to watch. I include the scandal too. I admit, I like the train wreck and watching to see if she'll climb out and succeed (or fail) again.
My biases now understood, I liked this video particularly. Not because it was especially interesting, but because I had recently watched James Charles' airbrush challenge and Nikki Tutorials IG filter challenge, and Jaclyn, unlike the James and Nikki, showed herself making mistakes. One thing that frustrates me is when influencers mention it's their second or third time doing a video. Why would you insist on doing a challenge and only showing the viewer when it's not challenging? I was especially was annoyed with Nikki's IG challenge, because I don't understand what could have really gone wrong with random products being chosen for you to apply, and you told us nothing about what failed in your initial attempts. With James, I'm a bit more forgiving because there was a learning curve with the airbrush, but showing us outtakes or offering tips on using an airbrush via failures would have been more beneficial.
Anyway, it was refreshing to see the mess up with the dewy setting mist and break up around the nose. She can be a good educator when she feels like it.
Whenβs the next launch?
JH posted a new video with her quarantine makeup routine. While I didn't find it to be a "simple" routine I really enjoyed it as I'm trying to incorporate more cream products into my base. I'm in my mid 30's and don't want to make my skin appear crepey with too many powder products. IMO JH usually goes crazy with the powders (and she did use several in this video) but you can easily omit some of them and still come up with a very nice, glowy look that is more natural. I'm still working outside the home but I've been doing a more natural brow and simpler, neutral eye makeup and JH does in this look as well.
I hate how obviously photoshopped her thumbnail is, but I get it.
The thing that made me laugh most about this video is how she kept emphasizing "just a little bit on concealer", as she lathered it all over the entirety of her face. I get that that is just a little bit for HER, but that still was SO MUCH concealer lol.
When Jaclyn made videos before she was affiliated with Morphe, she always had quality videos with amazing tutorials. She taught me so much about blending, brushes and application techniques.
I will never knock that girl for her talent. I hope some day she can get back to that, she looks great in the thumbnail.
I enjoyed watching it all fall apart on her with her taking it in stride, and I'm glad she still uploaded the video. This look reminds me of my makeup routine in the 90s, right down to the non-matching foundation for my face. LOL!
