Sick Six Pack - 440 MOPAR Diagnosed on Dyno

[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a couple of weeks back we watched as Nick partially disassembled this 440 six-pack and found that the RPM loving owner had a pushrod out of place Nick did an old-school leak down test that showed some moderate level pressure loss so he got in touch with the customer to see what he wanted to do next the owner of the engine told Nick that he only wanted to use the 440 as a running display for now so he decided to skip a valve job and asked Nick to just put the engine back together and toss it on the dyno to see what it does so today we find Nick and the guys doing just that but the old 440 isn't happy even after changing wires and plugs it's running cold on one cylinder [Music] that's right dr. islur yeah but city let's fix this listen fix it look it's cleaning on the header I mean I watch its heart watch itself cramping cramping tighter the other side similar level once you've to run cold that's funny wait a minute we do have a spark right yes I know it's an old cap but yeah let's check let's take it out was to get out black it and it approaches 175 soon the pressure so it's got it work it's not the plugs and what elegant running rich yeah that's no good we've got an engineer we're just trying on the dynamometer we took it uh somebody just bought it inches they throw it on the dyno see if you could tune it for us but I realized this one spark plugs not firing even though we've got eight new spark plugs have still have no heat on the exhaust tube on the silver number one we've changed the wiring on the spark plugs same thing both of you done we check the waters we've got a compression loss we swap blogs to have no just to make sure so the bridge is 175 to start with we have [Music] you know what fussing about Francine right again no huh something to brush this just right and then let her warm up real good later well maybe he's got a lot of fuel in this filler we gotta burn out hey you know what I heard you know what I heard I've all the energy drinks the one that gives you the most energy is the air chocolate milk you believe it yeah I heard some of someone was swimming that day today because I was drinking chocolate milk and he tells me that's the most energetic drink I said you've got to be Cavey let's go get a chocolate drink [Music] that's it but I see here we go [Music] after nick has had his chocolate milk and the 440 has had a chance to run for a while the guys are still not seeing the kind of heat that like from one cylinder thank you ever feel Rachel [Music] it's running lean a I have a face up this block there on the middle part of the Jets sumbitches on this block there that's the only thing that will explain it yes you're rich oh yeah it may be hard to compensate that choice some news blocking the gin I know I had that once when you revved it up like 2003 and was running super lean and backfiring one of the Jets was a piece of turd in front of the jet blocked it they already feed fuel to a few cylinders so we're gonna take over the center carbon yeah we'll take it from there see to take out the football you can remove the center carb and we'll see okay seems to be a mystery maybe this is the reason why told me put on the dyno see how the engine runs oil pressures good compression is good we made a leak down tester delivery week on this side but it seems good I mean it's not the best but we just want to drive through here and the biggest problem we have here is still number one here it doesn't fire so this is our job to check it out they knew it looks like brand-new car beaters but then again I don't know where he's been through with this car you know these yep dirty fuel in the car they have a gas filter in the car I don't know so the thing is we have to look at it ourselves [Music] [Music] these are people thin but it will have an Austin I'm gonna pull one of my FL poor guys gets was a slightly thicker these are the bass guys kids I like to use for a six-pack they're pretty a little bit thicker you're teflon-coated it and it makes a good seal so since I have this guy carve it off I'm just gonna install a new one over here now like so see how nice and thick it is now we got all the guest gets a spot for a Holley carburetor okay if I see we'll put a one-size jet bigger for my teeth to treat 263 this engine has headers we should be going richer a little bit and in the meantime I want to go get another gasket I've got a stack full here Oh a big shaving caskets you know sometimes you buy a carpet your kidneys got more castings that you need so I save everything I don't throw nothing out and nope yes yes here we are there we go everything was punch it through here we go so we got annular to put on [Music] strange they're always backfiring maybe stick her up did take a few times and the gasket is a course a few times I don't know maybe you got a Viking leave I built this engine three years ago actually and then he sold the car so he kept the engine but he's played around with it a few times the owner I already past few years I don't know what he's done to it and I brought it here last week it says Nick adjust the lockers put on the dyno get it running I want to show up grunts okay just use my job just put on the dyno get it running well we have an issue here he's also pushed her out on the other side it's a total number two which I thought I was gonna have issues but in this case I've brought the push on to place their water adjustments are all fine but still the number one is my problem I don't know why it seems to be running very lean or very rich so we're gonna change the just to see two trees and then make another test [Music] you know what he must have had issues that's why you asked me brother Dino I'm sure you had issues hey Louise yeah you know this man has no pity for rpm I've seen him drive this cars enjoy some very very hard so much silly delicate body and it leaks [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] let's get the six-pack running we want to see how it's gonna work because there's the one that came in with a push well that came out of place and we made a leak down test my client told me Nick but it would push was back in if they're not been get it running the dyno showed goes and so we couldn't get a start because we had one soon they're not working properly so we had to replace a wire we placed a spark plug that was not the issue we made a compression test on that sooner we had a hundred seventy-five psi so that was initial either so now we're taking apart the center card we're itching out of it clean out the signals maybe running late because of that reason so anyway so now I think we got it to every racial perfect the pipe is getting hot when we shoot their water on it so I think we're ready to make a test so here we go [Music] and here we go we're gonna take it a 3,000 to 5200 rpm at 300 rpms per second okay let's make one quick test okay we go barbar is a the RPMs gonna come down to life somebody's wrong after a first test on the dyno the six six-pack is making decent numbers but there's something wrong with the way the linkage is responding after the pole I'm sure you do wait when you see something where you get stuck there what's on the other side look it's on the other side yeah it's binding look yeah movie by sohail still all right good okay try it again boy they said you guys a few wishes day but you know wouldn't come back to idle that's what I got that's another a concern and I think it's good it's good it's good this is test number two I'm gonna bring it up to 5600 rpm town as you can see look it's still climbing right 53 actually I thought it would be 52 but anyways we're at they're 44 horsepower is still climbing so we're gonna go to higher rpm and the total is pretty good we're almost at the five 35 38 you're not what was the almost 540 torque at 4100 p.m. that's pretty good torque we have a hydraulic roller cam I don't know one model cam my client has put into that but at a hydraulic roller cam with elbow blockheads of course with a six pack that have 170 setters so we're gonna take it out a higher rpm to see what we get and you guys are ready let's go okay we got it I know I know we were popping it a few times and hold it over and they're gonna take it all out no one ancient air fuel ratio it's a pretty good graph a front before check it out okay let's go test number two here we go Wow here we go still climbing they're not 494 5,600 looks like went up to take it at 6,000 rpm and over the grass there it is a little worse boys still growing out so when I will be negative 6000 rpm and here is our horse par reading right here that's number two all right I've seen spikes open up buddy don't you worry but still you're running chickens in your walk through noises and then we're going to go to 6000 rpm or we said or we said okay won't take it at 6,000 here we go you know I'm gonna take the $6 and I'm sure that client ups taking it way above 6,000 I know him there's no pity for rpm let me tell you he pushes his car is very hard and they're still finding problems with this unhappy six-pack now there's a little bit of fuel leaking from the center carb just give it a little squeeze [Music] [Music] I think you got it all right let's try it and see what happens it looks dry now [Music] we're old death here one day you know that engines getting loud you know we're getting older so we don't need this big noises went through our heads okay here we go I'm going to start at 3,500 go to 6,000 [Music] all set and here we go it up 500 horsepower exactly at 5600 RPM let me check the fuel Rachel what you thought I unloaded it okay just let me see what's holding okay there's your racial good check the grass there it is that's alright that's a 3500 rpm killed 6000 rpm got 5 horse about 5600 rpm and the tour moves pretty clumsy to almost 550 right here look at that so everything seems good that's why my client told me don't take off the heads or anything that just a get it running on the dynamometer I believe you'll be happy with this so uh and if there it is we have it done we have no major oil leaks the soldiers firing the air fuel ratio is done and the only thing we have left is that fuel leak in the football so we gotta fix that before it comes next week and tell you guys have it here it is this is an edger we build I believe there were three four years ago it's been a while back Delaney I believe the customers done some air and you work on his own may be played with the camera something I'm not so sure but they just told me Nick I've played with it but anyways I brought it back here poor little Dino get it running but the pushrod bat came to fill out a place and just then get it run into the oil pressure and see if everything goes good at 6000 rpm which I did and it seems like it's okay so now the only thing is he wants me to run his ignition box next week when you bring sit in but in the meantime I run the engine with my ignition box on my Dino everything seems okay so now I'm just gonna wait for him to come this week there's only what to do is put a take it home put it on an engine stand it's just get it running in his garage not to put into a car there you have it you guys 550 talked five hundred power at 6000 hundred six thousand rpm that's good when you brought in the edge of the push order was out of place reason why I don't know maybe you over-revved it or maybe he did some work on his own did he pay with a walker adjustment I'm not so sure what I need to do with this customers install a rev limiter knowledge cars there's their own manual transmission he's the lead foot and then you got to put in scrying you gotta hide it because he's the type of guy who's gonna readjust it to a higher rpm where I'm gonna set it out but you know what I will have a talk with him when the time comes so I'll bring it up to his attention you know I'm trying to just say to him that there to do what's best for his engine I know it's a left foot we want to protect it so you know put a rev limiter it's a good thing so I'll bring it up to its attention we'll take it from there and you guys if you look down below the video we have a whole bunch of merchandise that you guys can buy so whatever you like buy it love it
