Should Wilson Golf bothered making this club?!

if you went back across the different decades there's one set of isons a brand that have not dominated but have done consistently well over the last few years kind of dropped off people's radar a little bit but in 2024 are they properly back with a bang Wilson Wilson Wilson Wilson is a household name in lots of different sports and in golf they've had their their time without question but is it time for them to have their time again okay so you you kind of get where I'm coming from there um I feel like Wilson um have obviously brought out some incredible isons I've actually used Wilson a few times in the past and right now as we film this video I've got a set of Wilson irons in the bag the staff model irons now this in my hand however is a new driving iron a utility iron you can get it in a two iron three iron and a four iron I've got it a two iron 18° of Loft and it looks incredible I really do like the look of this it's a Holo headed design priced at 220 for a single golf club uh I'm going to I've jumped out on one of the the simulator holes here so I'm hit some shots off a te cuz that's really where if you're going to use a utility eye and you want something that's going to be safe off a te that's going to put you in play and also hit some shots into the green we'll do that as well in this little test in this review um it's funny area that kind of Dy in Iron market now um certainly now clubs have got more Hollow headed design it's definitely suiting a miles wide a variety of different golfers from really good golfers to higher handicappers as well uh a lot of a lot of golfers are benefiting from utility irons this is a goodlooking one it does look very much let's be honest like a tailor made p790 uh and and quite a few utility isons do pretty much look the same really let's be honest so it's only really going to be feel and forgiveness that these clubs are going to stand out and how they can stand apart from each other let's hit a few shots and I'll give you a bit of an idea of what also technology wise is in this club I'm just going to go for standard shots first a normal two iron shot trying to find the Fairway oh yes this is a tight hole as well that is absolutely perfect done it's in the bag I mean that is the benefit of a two iron certainly for me I I do like hitting two irons I'm I'm a big fan of driving ions I prefer much more over utility I like hybrids so to speak that's not for everyone a lot of golfers prefer hybrids it's a Real Fashion even with some Tor pros at the moment to put really high lofted metal woods in the bag like seven woods and nine Woods we're even seeing now so kind of a lot of variety in that space between dri and your first comfortable eyeing that you enjoy hitting uh that was a nice flight that was just a standard one I'll hit a few more of them and then we'll have a little play about with hitting some different variety of shots oh oh no that's not a good one that's the thing if you if you are going to use a utility iron for safety you don't want to be missing the Fairway that was a little bit of a pull now inside this head there's this new rib almost ribbed cage technology so they're saying that they've enhanced the internal factors of this golf club to make it more forgiven on off-centered hits I that was more me shutting the face down rather than offc centered hit H I've hit one up the middle I've hit one massively left and push one slightly right just a bit of timing on the club face I suppose for me there but fieldwise it does feel like a good club I'm going to go one more standard shot and then we're going to really have a little play about with it in different shot shapes come on let's find the middle again straight down the [Music] flag yeah it's nicely on The Fairway I think once you get kind of the understanding of how the the club moves through the hitting area you can start being a little bit more precise with your shot shapes um I think the first one I'm going to try and hit is a big a big kind of left to right slicey one see if we can start one up the left and find the Fairway that way moved it too much certainly got the shape on it but moved it too much I'm not having great success of finding Fairway with this club just yet I'm going to go with that one again and think again this is what you need a utility irem for is to find Fairways nice big cut off that big tree there oh that's nice when it's good it's good but when it's bad it's not helping me find Fairways yeah that's pretty nice though let's go for a big draw this time big right to left shot yeah that was pretty easy for me don't miss the Fairway missed the Fairway there there's a couple of things I'm noticing I really like the feel of my my staff mod Lions I think they feel fantastic if you'd have Stripped Away The Branding off this golf club and asked me to guess what brand it was I wouldn't have guessed Wilson doesn't feel as good um and also what's interesting here I'm I'm having fun with this I'm hitting a few different shots it doesn't feel very powerful like for a two iron I'm expecting this to come out like an absolute rocket and it's kind of not it's Landing at about 25 220 really a two I for me should be knocking on the door at 240 it's not I don't know it doesn't feel like it's really shooting off the face which is not great because it doesn't feel great looks good doesn't feel great is not super powerful and I'm not exactly finding loads of Fairways just yet let's set another one with the draw that's nice but watch this again like carry distance yeah 220 for a two iron definitely should be in my opinion going a lot further I know two IR that I've hit in the past have gone much further than this right I'm going to hit a stinger let's see how low we can make this one go oh I take it all back no I'm joking that that was wonderful I mean that is absolutely on the line that was absolutely beautiful uh felt a little bit better cuz I hit the middle of the club face but again only 213 214 carry I know it's a I know it's a stinger so it's rolled out a lot more that was easy to hit to be fair let's go super super high let's go the complete opposite I'm going to hit this one up to space slightly thinned it but see the difference in height between those two then okay I'll tell you what we have one more test I I don't think like I I got the the right face alignment on the first few shots I'm enjoying shaping it I'm enjoying hitting right to left left to right highs and lows they feel pretty easy I only got five shots how many shots can I find the Fairway that's when this club is important you've got to be able to find Fairway five standard goal shots I think anything less than four out of five would be considered disappointment okay that's one right into the Fairway perfect have a little bit more carry now again it's 227 okay I I definitely expect five or six yards further than that minimum what in the Fairway though oh no it's leaked see it's not terrible but that is not in the Fairway okay I need to hit the Fairway with every other shot now oh no it's done the same again that's the thing it's not terrible but it's missing Fairway I might as well have hit driver okay two more to go got to finish strong now oh it's a bad strike but it's a fairway finder it's not pretty but we'll take it okay this is the one four shots hit two Fairways hit two Fairways missed you know what it's interesting this club I I understand why will have made it I'm just I don't know they didn't need to like they they're having great success again with their irons that they need to start experimenting with other clubs I'm not sure I'm not sure I don't think this is this doesn't won me over this club that's for sure on one straight down the middle of the farway oh that's maybe why I don't have a two IR in the bag guys that's annoying um it's it's it's okay it's just nothing special sorry to say it's just nothing special compared to how brilliant I'm finding the irons how much I love them this doesn't quite match up to the same level guys thanks for watching hopefully enjoy the hit videos be sure to subscribe and
